Looking at hotel reviews on Yelp (or any other review site, for that matter) is always a little iffy, because people tend to fixate on things that are important to them, that may not be important to you. So I tend to take hotel reviews with a grain of salt. However, when deciding on a hotel for a recent visit to Phoenix, I decided to forego some pricier options and trust the reviews for this Hampton Inn. It was a great choice. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, and everyone we spoke to who worked there was friendly and polite. We got there fairly early in the morning wanting to drop our bags before an appointment, and they got us in very quickly. The beds were comfortable, as was the bathroom. Having the sink in the room instead of the bathroom was a little weird. I couldn't decide if it helped with more than one person getting ready at the same time, or hindered it. The free parking was great, and very close. We didn't eat the breakfast, but the coffee setup was very welcome. We especially loved the water cooler that they kept filled by the desk, and took advantage of it often. We drove all over the area to visit various places and spring training venues, and had an easy time getting everywhere. It's close to several highways, which made it easy to get around. I'm generally a fan of Hampton Inns, and this one was a great credit to the chain. read more

So I actually have stayed here twice! In late 2015 we took a roadtrip to the Midwest and on the way back this was our last hotel stay and by far the BEST. This review is detailed for our recent stay January of 2020 the only change was there is now an $8/night parking fee which is like mandatory since theres no parking nearby. No biggy. TOTALLY great fresh breakfast, well tended (cleaned and restocked often). Computer in lobby easy to use for flight boarding pass printing etc. no fees or logins for use. Amazing staff, I needed advil and was ready to buy some but the guy was like "I have a couple, here!" totally free and said "feel better" genuinely! There was spilled coffee in an elevator and it was cleaned before the next time we used it. Room was so fresh and clean and stocked with fresh toiletries and water bottles. I cant believe I booked the same hotel twice by accident but both experiences were great and the third time we stay here it will be chosen on purpose!! haha read more

Pros- -Nice quiet off street in Phoenix. Located in a nice neighborhood. -Free Breakfast from 6-10am. Selection includes pretty much any breakfast item: eggs, sausage, seasoned potatoes, cereal, waffles, bagels, muffins, fruit, juices...for the people saying it's "not very good"- what were you expecting King George? A feast? -Free Coffee and Ice water in lobby 24/7. -Rooms are a good size and nicely decorated. -Cheap rates. -Pool and hottub were clean and only had a few guests there at a time. Wish the pool was open later, only open until 10. -Parking was never a problem in the private hotel lot. Cons- -Housekeeping was super slow. We'd be gone all day, come back at 4 in the afternoon and the room still wasn't touched. And they really only did the basics (make the bed, empty garbage, leave more towels. Any crumbs on the carpet or tables was left untouched. -The AC unit in the room is pretty loud when it starts up. I don't mind "background noise" when I sleep- but it was so loud when it started up- it woke me up EVERY TIME. And its positioned to where it blows in your face while sleeping- even from across the room. -TV had very basic cable stations, nothing special. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Phoenix area. Nice area, nice staff, and all the amenities you'd need. It's a pretty quiet hotel. Not a lot to offer the "younger" crowd looking to party it up. It was fairly quiet the entire time we were there (4 days). But that was fine with me. If you're looking for a more trendy hotel with a bar full of obnoxious people- keep looking. if you're old like me and appreciate cheap basic quality- then this would be for you :) And FYI- the windows in the room DID open to let fresh air in. There was a hairdryer, coffee maker, iron and board, microwave, mini fridge, mini shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, and plenty of towels included in the room. This Hampton is functional, beautiful and clean. From space to move, daily newspapers and fresh coffee at the entrance, nothing is left out. I booked a King room which was near the elevator to the fitness room--perfect. My room had space, a small refrigerator, a microwave, 2 chairs and a sizable foot rest, a sizable shower, extra towels and cloths, extra supplies, lots of lighting and outlets, a coffee maker with supplies--you name it. Everything makes sense! The fitness room sported an elliptical stepper, an elliptical, 3 treadmills, 2 stationary bikes, free weights, 2 Weight benches, cable work outs, fitness balls, matts, drinking water, towels, television screens on the equipment. Booking a presentation during the week of the Open and one of the busiest months during tourist season, we were lucky to catch six rooms at this hotel... at $134 (which includes our corporate discount) it wasnt cheap, but certainly one of the least expensive we found in the valley. The basics: Excellent beds... Soft sheets, modern all white linens Tv was ok, nothing high quality there No desk... Which was kind of a bummer Amazing shower pressure, super hot water My room was quiet... 4th floor facing east, minimal noise issues... Ah hem, as in ... A late night brown chicken brown cow situation, let's just say someone should have bought me dinner before having to listen to something that intimate. Over the 4 days it was quiet though. One guy complained of hearing street noise all night at the first floor facing highland. Thanking my lucky stars for such a great place to lodge out of town guests. Okay, technically, I did not pay for the lodging, but I sure did do the suggesting. I had my mom stay at Hotel Highland for her Spring Break away from Michigan winter, so I was praying and crossing my fingers and making burnt offering to the hotel gods that this wouldn't be a scary experience for my little mommy. Wishes granted! Very clean, well-appointed and comfortable rooms. Mom even took a picture of the giant shower-head (what can I say? Simple pleasures) and we both literally said, "Ooh!" to the fancy faucet in the sink. A complementary breakfast in the morning and drinks in the bar from 4:30 to 11:30pm were great to have on hand when Mom had to wait for me to get myself organized in the mornings or put the kids to bed in the evenings. A heated pool and jacuzzi were a welcome treat to her frozen bones and the fact that she was even IN the swimming pool garnered comments from locals like myself who deem any temps sub-100 degrees too cool for pool. We wanted to stay nearby Phoenix Children's Hospital while my sister was in the ICU there. Since we were in transit, my step-dad booked us a room at Hotel Highland. We weren't sure what to expect since we had no idea what kind of hotel it was, but knew it was in a rough area. The area IS rough, but the hotel is terrific! The staff were wonderfully helpful and accommodating. When we checked in, we got two Buy One, Get One Free drink coupons to their bar. The bar itself is cozy with couches and neat details and warm lighting that invites you to sit down and just relax for a bit. You can also take your drinks out on to the patio by the pool (which is enclosed so you don't take glass in that area) with fire-pits that they light at night. My husband and I took our drinks (wonderful wine!!) out on the patio after a long day at the hospital and were able to relax before bed. The hotel itself looks to be newly remodeled and is quite luxurious for the inexpensive rate of $89/night on a weekend. Our room was kind of odd in that the bathroom sink was actually in the main part of the room and they only gave us two towels. Other than that, the room was very nice and gotta love blackout window panels! The bed was SO soft and the linens were very nice. I don't know if there is a better hotel for the price. I booked a 2 night stay during a recent visit to Phoenix and was pleasantly surprised by this place. Tucked away behind some office buildings near the Biltmore area, this hotel goes un-noticed from the outside. Pulling up and just seeing the exterior I wasn't expecting much from this place. On this inside I was impressed with the attention to detail and modern contemporary simple style. The room wasn't huge, but big enough, and had all new furniture as well as a microwave. The staff was courteous but not over polite, and handled my requests without a second guess. I was able to park out back right next to the elevator and had very easy access to and from the building. I had considered extending my stay however I ended up boarding up with an old friend instead. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for something simple, affordable, and quite. read more

**UPDATE** 8/24 Yesterday I waited in their breakfast area and where computer was until almost noon. They knew I was waiting to check in because they had to find my packages. After not being serviced I had to leave to work. Last night I arrived to my room only to discover that 3 light bulbs were out in my room. In addition the toilet has trouble flushing. I reported the light and air because it was most important at that moment. The air was not turning off. Wow. However the only person who was pleasant was from maintenance and provided really great customer service was Art. He was so pleasant at helping me get light in the room and fixing the air problem. Because of my rough trip my voice was already sounding really rough and he noticed when front desk did not. I explained that was why I needed the air off because the room was set at 63 degrees and I didn't want to get more sick. He fixed everything in my room. He even asked me if I wanted some warm water for tea to help my throat. The only reason I give this hotel 2 stars is because not everyone has been difficult but you would expect more from front desk. This location has given me problems in the past that were easily overlooked but today I am mildly bothered and think I should focus on cons. I had a huge work trip were I booked this hotel weeks prior. I called ahead to let them know I needed early check in and that I was going to have a package arrive. I also said the box that was arriving was for work purposes as that the early check in was needed so I could go through the box in the room and do work. I was told they would note account and that it was not a problem. However, today I arrived and not only did they tell me I could not check in early but they lost my package. They finally found it but of course I love when they tried to take zero accountability before I gave them information for signed delivery. This is the second or third time that this has happened at this location. I have been selected for a special panel for Hilton Honors members and can't wait to report this. In addition I will be calling customer care for Hilton as it is no point to bother with hotel management at this time. Last trip I had many issues with the standard issue iron they use in rooms. It would not steam. Then they gave me another one and it leaked everywhere. Finally they gave me a brand new one, which did not steam and ruined my work shirt. This may possibly be my last stay. I am sitting in breakfast area and trying to continue my work and there are noisy patrons everywhere and they do not have a proper business center for me to conduct my work which was why I needed the early room. I have a conference call and this is not good. Which reminds me of another stay were I was forced to stay on level 2 facing the pool. The staff allowed people to party by the pool until after 2 am and I got no sleep. Please be mindful that if your need rest from long work days like I do that front facing rooms to pool can sometimes be an issue. read more

Always stay here when in Phoenix as its close to the clients site. Easy parking and easy to find. Close to shopping and easy access to freeway. The good: Hampton has the best comforters around. AC worked great, a little loud but its Phoenix and everyone should sacrifice a bit of noise for a functional AC. Its hot here; although it is August. Staff is always friendly, and because of the location & staff, its why I choose this hotel. However, there are little things that Im not A-OK with. Towels need to be replaced. They have seen better days and have run their course. It always annoys me that hotels take the time to make sure the room is clean, but always neglect the iron. A dirty iron ruins your clothes. That was the case here...pair of pants and shirt ruined. Plus the ironing board needs to be replaced. Its the little things... The wifi is always amazing here. Free & fast! Great to get a little work done. Be warned, they have one of the slowest elevators around. Push the button to go up or down, do your taxes, and then the elevator appears. read more

My company had meetings in our corporate headquarters about a mile from this Hampton Inn. They housed about 30 employees here. The area was clean and well maintained. They will ask for a major credit card to hold until after you check out. Hotel room was clean. Bedding was very comfortable. If you are into pillows, rest assured each bed had FOUR (4) pillows and they were very soft! My only complaint was the sink was outside the bathroom and literally inside the sleeping areas. Only the toilet and shower was behind the door. That was ok for me but when you are rooming with a colleague, you expect a bit more privacy. The pool area is cool. They have a fire pit that we used after our meetings. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I would return to this hotel on my next stay in Phoenix. read more

We try to stay at Hampton Inn when we travel. We have traveled much of the US and through the years stated in a multitude of hotels and motels. Hands down Hampton Inn is our favorite. At this location is they are all exceptionally clean. You get a free breakfast in the morning in a self serve setting. There is something for everyone. Cereal, country potatoes, oatmeal, make your own waffles, different types of bread, pastries, cut fruit, juices, milk. Coffee in the lobby 24/7. The staff are all professional and friendly. The bedding is completely white and I like the always fresh odor of the linen. I highly recommend this location. It's a great area, reasonably priced with plenty of places to eat nearby. read more

One question. W T F ? 1. I am only giving this hotel two stars because we had prepaid online and ended up needing to cancel our second/last night and the manager refunded us no questions asked. 2. This is not a boutique hotel people, so please stop calling it that. It is VERY confusing. This is seriously an old Holiday Inn that they gave a major makeover. That is all. There is no restaurant, the bar is not even closet to trendy, the pool is not luxurious, there is nothing unique or full service about this hotel. 3. The room appears to be fine at first look, but the bathrooms are tiny and the beds and pillows are not comfortable. The furnishings tried to be modern, but it's like comparing IKEA to Horchow. Basically, we were not expecting the Four Seasons, but were definitely not expecting the Holiday Inn Express. 4. This has been my most confusing YELP moment ever. It has been given 4 stars on other review sites as well. The only thing I can figure is that a lot of people are quickly passing through for work and it's fine for one night. Everything about this place screams upscale boutique hotel except the name. What you will notice is the familiar complimentary breakfast each morning, coffee throughout the day, ridiculously awesome Hilton bedding, and corner snack shop that all Hamptons do have. Took my kids here for a staycation from Groupon. The Groupon was for $65/night and we stayed 3 nights. The hotel is pretty, the rooms are nice, the free breakfast is pretty good. My kids liked the work out room that has a mini-fridge with cold washcloths, free ear buds, and nice work out equipment. They used it several times each day. The pool is a basic square, nothing fancy, and there is a jacuzzi. My kids basically ran from the work out room, to the pool, back to the room for snacks, and back to the pool. There is a Cold Stone nearby. The only problem with a four day staycation is there was not much to do around the hotel. We ended up driving to a nearby city to go to a water park. If there had been one simple thing like a small slide going into the pool my kids probably could have stayed more entertained for a longer period of time. But for the Groupon price I would say it was quite worth it! read more

I traveled to PHX for a family member's wedding and stayed at the Hampton which was within walking distance to many shops, Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I really enjoyed the fact that I could go grab my specialty foods and soaps at those stores while being away from home. No one likes using products they aren't used to while traveling so having it all available right around the corner was quite a convenience. Service at the Hampton was great! The staff was very helpful and accommodating, especially Josh at the front desk. Josh was very compassionate and professional as he helped me with a minor medical issue. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Phoenix area. Plus they had a nice fire pit by the pool that was really relaxing after all the wedding stuff! Stayed 2 nights with my son. Super clean and great staff. Had an issue with dirty a/c filters and called front desk, was told housekeeping was gone for day so would have to wait till morning. I said I would clean them myself, next thing I know the manager and maintenance guy are at my door. Now that's great customer service! Hotel is in very quiet business park and safe area. Beds are very comfortable and our room was the largest I've ever seen for a 2 queen room. Only bad thing was the pool was closed the whole weekend for some reason. read more

I just stayed here for a week while i was in Phoenix for a convention down at the U.S. Airways center and it was absolutely AMAZING. Our group usually has three requirements when looking at hotels 1) it has a pool, 2) breakfast is included, and 3) its not a trash pile. This hotel obviously met and exceeded our expectations. The decor of the hotel and the rooms was very nice, beds comfortable, pool was decent, and the breakfast was way more than expected. For a local stay I had a super clean large room. Bonnie checked us in and she was super sweet. She directed us to some great restaurants in that area. I noticed she was picking up the bathroom which was immaculate. She was busy with several people checking in and seemed to interact personably with each guest and made us feel very welcome. They don't tell you about the parking charge till after you get the bill. Not sure the value in paying $8 for parking. If you don't get to park in the handful of spaces next to the hotel you have to haul suitcase over the median and there is no sidewalk so you either walk around or hike over it. . read more

This hotel had a spectacular atmosphere and outstanding customer service! A group of about 16 Briggs & Stratton employees from Milwaukee came to Phoenix for a five-day business event we were hosting, and choosing to stay at the Hampton Inn Phoenix-Biltmore was definitely the right move. The location was perfect. It was within walking distance of plenty of tasty restaurants for nightly team dinners. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. They offered good breakfast and it was always ready early enough that we could eat before heading out to our event each morning. The hotel was clean and had nice amenities, so it was easy to relax and feel at home. The transportation shuttle was another service we used during our stay. They were prompt in answering calls and taking our group to and from the hotel. We did not have to worry about calling a cab. Not only that, but Manager Kyle Burry was very helpful by listening to our needs and working to accommodate them. We needed a place to host a small, private event during our stay in Phoenix. Without hesitating, he offered up the parking lot in the back of the hotel for our use. He allowed us to set up all of our equipment and conduct product demonstrations throughout the morning, with additional guests coming and going. He also provided us a large enough space to park our truck and trailer. Prior to the event, he quickly answered any questions pertaining to the area and provided whatever information he could. He really made us feel welcome and went out of his way to assist us. Being from out-of-town, we were very thankful to have such a wonderful place to stay. The hotel and its staff is excellent and very accommodating. My family loved this hotel. It was very nice and there was plenty of parking close to the hotel. It was in a safe area, the staff was very friendly and greeted you every time you came left and came back. They do have a shuttle that takes you anywhere you want within a 3 mile radius. They serve fresh breakfast every single day and the breakfast is actually pretty good. The hotel was very clean and so were the rooms, the rooms smelled great as soon as you walk in. They had towels and toilet paper, a microwave and a mini fridge and an AC unit that comes in pretty clutch with the Phoenix heat. They have a tv in there with cable and let me tell you, the beds are soooo soft comfortable, WOW!! Every time I would go to lay down I'd end up falling asleep because the bed just felt so good. They also have a gym and a pool and the water was always clean during my stay there. I would definitely recommend this place if you're ever in town!! read more

Boyfriend and I decided to take a roadtrip to Phoenix the first weekend of March (5-7) for Opening Weekend of Dodgers Spring Training at Camelback Ranch. We had booked this hotel through orbitz.com just a few weeks prior and got an awesome rate of $65 a night. A friend tried to book a room so she could tag along on our trip and the same room was going at $149. So yeah we got a super good deal which made the trip even better! After a 5 hour drive from LA to phoenix, we just wanted to check into our hotel, rest up and go out to dinner. From the outside, the hotel looked like any other business class place to stay. But inside was a much different as it was decorated more modern. The thing that stood out the most of our entire hotel stay was how extremely friendly the girl at the front desk was. Wow, she was so sweet and helpful and truly made us feel comfortable to be there. She helped us figure out places to eat at in the vicinity and explained the continental breakfast in the morning hours as well as how to acess the free wi-fi the hotel offered. We also overheard that the pool was heated, which was awesome bc it was a little chilly out. Bf and I got to the room and were impressed. The bed was soft, the comforter was soft, the room was nicely decorated and the view from our fourth floor window looked out directly to the beautiful Arizona sunset. It made for a nice picture setting :) Although we didnt spend much time in the room since we were out exploring the city and all it has to offer, we did enjoy the continental breakfast the hotel had in their beer and wine bar before heading out to Camelback Ranch for some Dodgers action :) Breakfast was pretty good considering it offered more than the average amenities most hotels offer for free. They advertise they have Digital key check in..but they actually dont . so when you check in you get accused of fraud and have to supply ID and another credit card..Shameful. The manager even came out and started to argue with me. I asked why do you have Digital check in if you don't actually offer it. She said we check because of fraud. First of all, this hotel put three different holds on one credit card then another hold on a second credit card. The hotel has nice rooms but crappy breakfasts and poor customer service. I stayed at this hotel two nights. I checked in on Friday and the lady that checked me in had awesome customer service. Helped me with questions I had. The breakfast on the other had was lousy both mornings. Danish were frozen, microwave omelette and no food items were not replenished when they ran out. It was still pretty early too. When I went to check out, the front desk lady had no customer service what so ever. She never asked me how my stay was. All she asked me if I wanted my receipt. read more

I found the Hotel using the Hotel Tonight application. I got a great deal, and they hooked me up with early check-in. The customer service was great. The room was immaculate. The pool was clean, warm and comfortable. Hot tub was hot and relaxing. There is a fire pit next to the pool, but I didn't take advantage of it. The fitness center was serviceable. The free-weights were missing, but there was a machine that worked fine for everything I wanted to do. I spent most of my day at the hotel, and I felt comfortable from start to finish. What is unconscionable, especially in late 2016, is 1) that the internet access is dodgy, with frequently dropped service, making it difficult and risky to do any sensitive business-related work online, and 2) that repeated calls to desk over multiple days on each shift yielded a helpless "nothing we can do - not our problem" response. This week we hosted our Annual Sales Meeting at the Hampton Inn on Highland. First off, the staff was amazing. They were the highlight of our stay. From the front desk staff to the event managers, they were always friendly and on top of all of our needs. The space they were able to provide us was great even though we made changes at the last minute to the head count they did everything possible to make our conference room comfortable. The continental breakfast was great - including waffles, bagels, breakfast meats, coffee, and healthy options too. This helped us to cut down on costs for providing breakfast for all our out of town guests. All in all, I would highly recommend the Hampton Inn for a work conference or a family stay. They have great amenities like a heated pool and the staff is incredible. read more

As my taxi pulled up I thought, "Uh oh. This doesn't look good." Still, I was hopeful. Maybe I had judged the place too harshly and too quickly. Sadly, the exterior didn't lie. There is a sign in the lobby saying something like "Pardon our dust as we update the hotel." Honey, I hope they do a LOT of updating. Cuz this girl is just plain weird. It's like a cross between something hip and modern and another thing which is just so dated you don't know where to start. Like a tragic drag queen who is drunkenly walking home holding her heels in one hand and her wig in the other. This place could have been fun, but instead it's not. Take the bathroom. It barely has room for the toilet and the shower. The toilet is shoved hard up against the wall so that you are literally touching the wall. The sink, oddly, is outside the shower/toilet room. The towels, even more oddly, are not. But the one trash can is. Here's how it played out. I wanted to wash my hands. I walked out of the bathroom and stared at the very large (and pretty) vanity. I see the ridiculously small bar of cheap crappy soap and don't know where to put the wrapper. Oh, it's in the bathroom. I wash my hands. I look for a towel. Oh, it's ALSO in the bathroom. All kinds of weird. The room itself is spacious with a seating area (two chairs, a side table and an ottoman) and a small desk. But the air conditioner is the kind you see in cheap motels. Hmmm. Yes, the wifi is free and yes it's shit. I used 4G on my phone because it was faster. Don't even bother to try to watch a YouTube video. You'll be waiting hours. I'd rather stay at the Ritz. Pay a few dollars more. You'll be glad you did. read more
