Experience started off great with very friendly staff at check-in. As soon as we settled into our room and removed our shoes, we noticed the carpet had a damp feel to it, which was a major turnoff for me. We reached out to the front desk, and they immediately sent 3 staff members (2 management and one housekeeping) to our room to check it out. Management determined that the carpet had not completely dried after cleaning and they quickly offered us another room. As soon as we checked into another room, we realized that tv did not work. After another call to the front desk, Lindsay immediately returned to this new room to problem solve. Once she determined, she could not fix it, she sent the repair person who quickly brought us a new tv. Lindsay and the other front desk staff handled everything very professionally and for that reason alone, we felt good about our stay and did not leave with a negative opinion of this hotel. read more

So, we've stayed at multiple hotels in this area, that offer the "luxury" experience. All in all it's been very unremarkable to disappointing. The new idea of no concierge and minimalist amenities etc is a scam because they charge close to 300-400$/night. It's become Airbnb-esque. The Kingston Hampton Inn however offers a friendly staff, clean well furnished rooms, all amenities, a bountiful breakfast, gym, pool, coffee and cookies at will. All at a reasonable price. Plus it's a quick drive to the restaurants in the main cool area. Win, win!!! read more

A bit old fashioned and aesthetically not up to date. Located not too far from the train tracks and can hear the horn blaring depending which side of the building you're on. From the 2nd floor I could feel the room vibrating ever so slightly. At random times of the day I would hear scratching or something moving around near the vents and walls which was kind of concerning. Only really happened when I turned the air system off and haven't heard a peep since the constant running. Likes: - conveniently located among all the food and shopping. Target and Walmart being a 2 min drive was amazing. - the fastest wifi i've experienced from Hiltons so far - heated pool, goes to 5 feet - friendly hotel staff, I get the best energy from them Dislikes: - limited parking - very narrow gym area, felt confined when working out - shower drain was broken upon arrival - entrance to the hotel from the main road is strange. This was my first stay in a Hampton since sometime pre-pandemic. I was impressed with their pandemic protocols and felt that they had adequately cleared and sanitized the room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and had no significant issues or complaints. GOOD - it was clean and quiet. The beds were very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. The free hot breakfast was typical of most Hampton Inns and was more than adequate. Nice variety of breakfast items. COULD BE BETTER - it amazes me that a room with 2 beds (obviously gonna have more than one person) would only have ONE (1) chair. My wife and I had to take turns using the chair. And the lighting on the desk was very poor - not good for working. A little pricey but a nice place to stay. read more

As good as it gets for a regular hotel room in Kingston, and a real gem if you book a whirlpool room. It's a reasonable cab fare into the actual town as well as back to the amtrak station. I appreciated being able to get a room here on very short notice. Everything here met expectations except for a full breakfast not yet available again (see below). The pool has reopened. The rooms are quiet (it survived the "crying baby down the hall" test), but the window curtain still allows a sliver of sunlight in. WiFi was excellent. The room rate was reasonable. If having a draft over your bed bothers you, plan carefully here. At least in my room, the vent blew over both beds. Breakfast does not yet include making waffles or hot entrees but was along the line of "hot continental." Instead, the hot trays included sealed breakfast sandwiches and mini cinnamon buns. But there was only 1 breakfast sandwich left, and it was not restocked, so I don't' know if they had run out or if it was an inattentive employee. My second stay here - first time was for my daughter's wedding, and we had the usual two queen bed room. It was fine. This time, I was alone, and got the "smaller" king room. Surprise - it felt so much bigger, so I'd go for that option again. The operative word here is clean. There's no way to be sure, but it seemed to be very well kept and there was no skeeve factor. The Hilton app was glitchy, but when it worked (hotel access/room key) it was amazingly easy and convenient. The room was spacious, clean, bathroom had some cosmetic flaws but was also clean. I had the clean swimming pool all to myself in the ayem, which felt luxurious. The price was more reasonable that the local short term rentals, and the only complaint I have about the breakfast (included) was that the coffee really was just adequate. I called 2 days later and they told I couldn't unless I paid a cancellation fee of $90 plus dollars. What a scam. She was supposed to send me an email and didn't. It was an older Hampton but not in bad shape. I reserved a bigger room with 2 qeens on the Hampton phone app with no problem. The room had so much space, I wish Hampton would place more than one chair in it. Free WiFi and water pressure were strong. Mattresses were comfortable. Free hot breakfast was good and coffee was strong enough. Staff members from front desk to housekeeping were extremely friendly and helpful. I paid little under $200 per night including all the taxes which was expected since it was graduation week for high schools, Vassar College, and West Point Academy. We stayed here for one night (10/28/21). Location: C, between CVS and Taco Bell on a busy highway, far from lovely Hudson River area. Entering hotel lobby, no brochures about places of interest. Check in/out: C, we had a reservation, checked in early, about 430 pm and asked for a room away from others but were given a room on the 2nd floor with a door connecting to another room that was occupied by several loud Spanish-speaking men. Room size: C, we had a king. Room 224. Modernity: D, seems like an old hotel. Everything in room and bathroom looked very used. Furniture in room had chips, scuff marks, etc. Mattress was a big saggy. Thermostat needed repair - could only read first number, second one only partially displayed. Fridge hummed. Microwave looked like from last century. Curtains did not completely block out light, still rather bright in room at night. Cleanliness: B. Security: F. Normally when one leaves their room it locks automatically. When we went out and luckily checked - our door was not locked. We called the front desk and learned about the trick to keep key in for 5 seconds to lock. Who knew? Front desk: B, woman at front desk somewhat redeemed herself (for giving us a lousy room) when asked about dining options, she recommended a very good place near the river. Breakfast: B, complete buffet with many items, including several hot options. Young woman maintained the area efficiently. Only complaint was that several guests went to the buffet without masks (the hotel should stress the importance of masks). Value for dollar: D, overpriced. I found this to be an extremely comfortable hotel. I got a room with a whirlpool tub and that sure was nice after a day of driving. The room is HUGE and very comfortable. The bathroom is also a nice size with a vanity large enough for the toiletries of two people, and a walk-in shower. Stayed here on a work trip. I was able to check in an hour before the 3pm check-in time, which was SO helpful, since my work function started at 3. I really didn't want to wait until it was over at 10pm to check in, so it was nice to settle in a bit. The woman behind the front desk was so friendly! She was asking about the work function and made me feel immediately welcome. My room was spotless. I was happy to see they had a mini fridge and microwave. I LOVE when a hotel has a fridge! I wish I had known in advance so I could bring some healthy snacks. The front desk has a 24 hour little shop for toiletries and snacks. I was pleased to see that they had some healthy options, not just chips and candy, but some locally made brittles, trail mix, etc. Continental breakfast included: pancakes, eggs (scrambled AND hard boiled), cold cereals, muffins and other pastries, oatmeal, yogurts, fruit. Nice selection. The woman who was in the breakfast area was so friendly as well, making conversation with each guest and refilling their coffee cups. Overall, I really enjoyed my one night at Hampton Inn. There's a Dunkin Donuts within walking distance, but the Hampton Inn has a coffee/tea bar in the lobby that is free and open 24/7. Spacious, updated room with a comfortable king bed. NOTE: Do ask for a room on the "front side" of the hotel, facing the parking lot and Ulster Ave. That way you won't hear trains on the track behind the hotel. My room was fine, heard very little while I was in the room. For Comparison: I stopped at Super 8 (in town, a couple miles away) to check in on a friend and the difference between it and the Hampton Inn Kingston was night and day. Hampton Inn is definitely a step above many other properties in town--confirmed when I spoke to local who have been in many of the other properties. Every morning they put out paper take-away bags of granola bars, bottle of water, fruit, etc. Very handy, and very much appreciated. I used the fitness center and it was basic, but way better than nothing. I did NOT use the pool, but peeked in and it looked clean and nicely heated. Nice business center for printing quick docs. Used the coin laundry on the first floor. They have 2 washing machines which take 5 quarters for a 30 min wash, and two dryers which take 1 quarter for a 10 minute dry. Detergent dispenser has Tide for 4 quarters, and 2 bounce dryer sheets for 4 quarters. Change can be made at the front desk. read more

Terrible. After staying for a night on our two night booking, the hotel staff suddenly decided that their hotel would not accommodate our service dog. The front desk person was extremely rude and the manager, Leann, followed us to our room, demanded to see paperwork for our service animal (illegal to ask) and then told us to remove our service dog from the hotel or they would call the police. Which they then did!! The NY State Police were very nice and agreed with us that we'd done nothing wrong. They refused to interfere. It is absolutely unacceptable that we should be harassed this way. We have a right under the ADA law to have our service animal (dog) with us. The dog was always under our control, did not bark or bother anyone, and posed no problem. The hotel staff was out of bounds demanding that we leave and threatening us with police. Watch out for the power-mad day manager, who doesn't understand the law, and is quick to deliver threats. UPDATE: Leann decided she would overcharge us for our stay. Instead of at the rate we booked online, she charged us the full rate, which was much higher. She was again, nasty and rude, and based on what I've seen here already about Leann, it's clear she has a reputation for bad customer service. Beware! read more

I had the unfortunate occasion to be desperately tired after 12 hours of driving & ended up at the Kingston, NY. Hampton Inn. (Usually Hampton Inn in is my go to spot on road trips for well over a decade) At first glance it was a clean establishment but after a knock on our door from Leah, the front desk attendant claiming to smell smoke after we had used our whirlpool tub and lit a grapefruit scented candle, our stay took a steep decline! I immediately invited her into our room where she saw the candle burning on the bench. She walked through the entire room, to the bed, whirlpool tub and big windows. She said she saw that it was a candle and was satisfied that no smoking had taken place. (That's a pretty clear statement that should have been the end) However, I walked into the hallway and did smell smoke which she not only corroborated but proceeded to admit she was having other problems of smoke smells on the 4th floor as well! Which she said was strange because nobody was staying up there?? At this time the only occupants of the third floor (which they put in a room directly above us!!!) Began walking around and carrying on like a stampede of Elephants! I made 2 trips to the front desk asking for an intervention so I could get some sleep and three phone calls to the desk to beg for assistance and every plea went unanswered!!!?? I was up all night listening to pounding from the room above! I fortunately took pictures of the room when we left. And had Leah confirm while walking through my room that there was no smoke! Although the bad mouthed manager Leanna just bold faced lied to me over the phone. My bank advised me I just call and speak to her In attempts to resolve this issue. Well, She not only threatened me but went on to blatantly lie to me about their being Dutch guts and ash in the room when we left!?!, (not products that we even ever purchase or carry around with us at this or any time!) that's a fact and so she is just fabricating false details to suit her bogus, incessant charges to my card! 3 charges! They're going to have a field day when my bank is able to dispute all the charges and is shown my iPhone video evidence of the room that we left perfectly clean! At this point (after seeing there business practices) I fully intend to dispute all the charges including the normal charge that went through because I was kept up ALL night and that's indefensible after learning of the entire 3rd floor only having one room occupied and nobody on the flourth floor. I don't pay $160 to be kept up all night by elephants! The way we left our room was pretty immaculate save for the smell of a grapefruit candle and some wet towels on the floor. I for one am glad I did my due diligence... they'll have to get their professional acts together and start blaming the guests in the hotel that actually keep other guests from sleeping! Did it not occur to them that the smoke likely came from the room with the constant pounding and ruckus? I refuse to be blamed and charged for this. I've already contacted the BBB, my Bank and corporate. I will not pay for something that is completely fabricated. Additionally they charged my credit card three separate times for a one night stay! Even if it was a charge for smoking (which never happened) that would be a room charge and cleaning charge. Not 3 separate charges for $162. $190 and $250. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANY Hampton Inn. Leah was the only kind and somewhat helpful person. Even though the manager Leanna tried to lie to me about what she told her. (She walked into my room I heard with my own two ears what Leah said!) Very nice, very clean hotel. It is in a nice area with plenty of stores and restaurants. The hotel is very modern. The rooms are comfortable especially the beds. There is a fridge and a microwave in the room which is a plus. I arrived before 3pm and they did not give me a hard time about checking in early. My room was ready which was very nice. There is also free Wi-Fi is fantastic since so many hotels charge for this feature nowadays. The breakfast buffet was very nice and convenient. There was a nice assortment of hot and cold foods; juice, coffee, tea, muffins, toast, oatmeal, waffles (make your own in the waffle iron), eggs, ham, fruit, cereal, yogurt etc. There was plenty of seating, a TV and free newspapers. There is a small fitness room and a nice indoor pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Checkout is at noon which is nice if you are not in a rush in the morning. The drapes in the hotel are beautiful! It would be nice to know what company they used to buy their drapes! This is a good quality hotel and I would definitely stay here here again. We had to change rooms because our hotel room was in the back of the hotel and every time a train would come by you were physically shaking in the bed. It was awful. We went to change rooms again and that room the TV didn't work and we changed rooms a third time. The shaking of the beds wasn't that bad, but there was on occasion when a BIG TRAIN would come by and you could physically feel the bed shaking. It was very uncomfortable. read more

I have stayed at many Hampton Inns, and most have met my expectations for extremely clean rooms, comfortable beds, and overall good service. The Kingston Hampton Inn is no exception, but the staff here made my recent stay (2 nights) even better than usual. The desk staff was terrific, not just doing their jobs but being proactive on many little things during our stay. The hotel itself is located directly behind a Taco Bell and a pharmacy, and is next door from a supermarket and surrounded by other shopping. It's about 10-15 minutes to downtown Kingston, and near a NY Thruway exit. Despite the busy location, the room was mostly quiet. There is a freight train line directly behind the hotel, but the occasional rumbling of a train passing by didn't disturb our sleep despite having a room facing the tracks. There is an indoor pool, which is just long enough to swim laps. The fitness center is a bit small and lacked a set of weights (which I have seen at other Hampton Inns). The breakfast was standard fare for all the Hampton Inns (good and plenty). They ran out of a couple of items (fruit, yogurt) but replenished the supplies immediately when it was pointed out. Overall, this is a very nice hotel and well worth the extra expense if you can swing it (our stay wasn't cheap - $159 / night for two double beds on a weeknight). read more

In October we were in room # 125 at about 8:30 at night when the door was opened by a strange man with a key card who forcefully pushed open the door and entered quickly. To say we didn't let out a yell is putting it mildly. "Oh this isn't my room anymore" he said as he just stood there staring at us. "I'm staying in 124, see, I have a key. I was staying here a while but I got mixed up". We went over to the door as he left to see if he did get into room 124 with the same key, and he did. He must have been a friend to someone at the front desk or who knows what. We also had problems with the circuit breaker shutting down electricity to the room three times when we just used the microwave. The desk didn't seem too concerned. I still wonder about that guy and if he was entering when we weren't there. Usually the booking site asks for a review, we received no such ability to post a review anywhere. That alone let us know that something strange was up with the desk and this strange guy. read more

I'm a HHonors Silver member, and one of the things I like is that when I walk into a Hilton property, they give me two complimentary bottles of water. Today when I checked in, they didn't do that, and when I got thirsty and went to the front desk to ask for them, I was told that they only do that for Gold and Diamond members, and that it is at the hotel's discretion to do so for Silver members. I checked online and called HHonors and the two bottles of water are indeed a perk of Silver membership. I know it's just water, but Hilton established a basic expectation and this hotel not only didn't live up to it, but claimed that I wasn't entitled to it. Also, I was surprised to find the desktop outlets being used to power the coffee machine and microwave. This just seems sloppy. They can do better. read more

This was my second visit to this Hotel, I will say that I couldn't be more pleased. I checked in using the Hilton app, when I entered the hotel I was greeted by all the staff. Then the manager Ramona Vasquez greeted me. I am a silver reward member and frequent Hilton establishments all over, this one shines. My room wasn't ready for five minutes and they offered me beverages and snacks while I waited. My room was beautiful and clean. I feel very at home and safe here and look forward to staying again. I am so happy that we decided on the Hampton Inn. Hilton hotels are always top quality. From the exterior, thr location, staff and cleanliness they never disappoint. Kingston Hampton Inn was a pleasurable stay. They sanitize thoroughly and seal the room. It was spotless. The corridors are luxurious and the room itself was very well appointed. Nice furnishing and the mattress very comfortable, soft comforter, layered sheets and fluffy pillows. A great night's sleep. Bathroom very nice with Waterpic showerhead. Neutrogena toiletries as well as makeup remover wipe, cuetips and nail file. And if you forget anything they can get it for you. Hilton is the standard of what a hotel should be! read more
