Valerie and Eric were very friendly and helpful hosts, providing us with a plethora of recommendations for wine tasting, hiking/walking trails, and local restaurants! The space itself was very clean and comfortable - we felt right at home! Breakfast was delicious and coffee was soooooo good too! Truly nothing like a home cooked meal. Their dog, Buddy, made a few appearances as well. :) All in all would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfortable stay in the area. We stopped in on Saturday night before a show - it was early, maybe 530, and there was one occupied…read moretable in an empty restaurant. We were asked by the hostess if we had a rez and did not, so we were told there was only ONE table free and the rest were reserved. When I questioned the hostesss and mentioned we had a show and were only going to be there an hour she said "do you want to see my reservation book?". Um, no, there's no reason to be salty - and we overheard her say it to others as well. Not exactly hospitable; there are nicer ways of saying things. We sat at said "only table" - which was right by the door and next to the hostess stand - and we were immediately greeted by a lovely young woman who seemingly knew nothing about drinks and food. My friend asked for a lighter type of beer, not recognizing the tap selection and was told she should get the ipa (there was a pilsner option and I recommended that since ipas are not light). I asked for a simple marg, rocks salt, and asked what premium tequilas she had and she noted the well and espolon. Those aren't premium; and she mentioned casa Migos - great! Only to come back 3 minutes later to tell me They are out of that and offered some brands i had not heard of, which is fine , but when I asked if they were blanco, reposado or anejo, she had no idea. Regardless of not knowing her stuff, she was lovely and attentive. So now comes the food. We wanted some Snacks to share and ordered the hot honey chicken, tempura asparagus and a special hash brown that was supposed to have crème fresh and some type of roe. Cool - the perfect amount to share in the short time we had. The asparagus were not shaved before frying so you couldn't really pick them up and eat them with your hands as they were stringy and came with a side of mayo. Not an aioli or anything seasoned - just mayo. You had to cut the asparagus into pieces. Could be worse but ya think maybe you could provide a dipping sauce that wasn't a spoonful of hellmans? The chicken was not hot, nor did it have honey, but it was fresh. The hash brown special did not have crème fresh - it was sour cream- a lot of it - and was very crispy, which was great after you scraped off the giant tablespoon of sour cream. Overall the food all fell short in taste, presentation and price (they are not shy on their prices, which is fine if the food, even this simple, was amazing). This could have been such a better experience. Between the salty hostess, untrained waitress (not her fault), and food that was mediocre, we spent $109 before tip. Yep - for 2 drinks, chicken nuggets, fried asparagus and 2 hash browns....I would have happily paid it for great service and great food. Again, our waitress was lovely, just poorly trained and not her fault. The hostess continued to be short w just about everyone who walked in - and we only knew that because our "only seat" was right next to her. Do better Kinsley - even Michael Kosta, who was the show we were seeing at the Assembly, made jokes about having to leave that night because the hotel was charging 13k a night (a joke but we all understood he was talking about the pricing). If you're going to charge top dollar, then be top service. Make it memorable, and not in a way that makes one write a review like this. Hugely disappointing; not recommending and will not be back.

Our hotel room, I cannot remember what number we stayed at, however it was considered one of the bigger suites. Hotel Kingsley had a small casual space when you enter, past the stairs, there are couches by the window. Music by the side, books on the shelves, games available in the same space. Downstairs, there is a bigger area to hangout by the TV with couches too. A small gym is on the same floor, sauna in a separate room. (We didn't explore the sauna because the door was locked). Checking out the downstairs. It was a comfortable, quiet setting. Our hotel room, my favorite part from night one was the bathroom. Huge bathroom, big windows and awesome rainfall shower. The entire space was worth it for a weekend stay. Hotel Kingsley looks renovated. You can see the maintenance is done well and noise was seldom you can still relax and enjoy your stay.

About 15 minutes drive to Kingston. We weren't able to enjoy breakfast as we had meals pre-planned, but Rob was nice enough to pack us a to-go breakfast our final morning to eat on the road, complete with a cut-up orange in a Ziplock baggie. I'm a coffee lover and the coffee was plentiful, strong, but not burned. We'll stay here again and again!

This was our first B&B experience.....and it was wonderful…read more The building is quaint and clean, filled with beautiful antiques. The B&B has 5 rooms, and only the first night it was full. We stayed in the Ivy room on the second floor and only heard the smallest bits of noise from other people coming in. The room was a touch small, but we had a queen bed and a love seat along with a large closet. The bathroom was spectacular, spacious with a Jacuzzi and lots of bubble bath! Breakfast is served at 8:30 am sharp, which I enjoyed, great initiative to get an early start on the day. We shared one large table with everyone and it created a great way to meet the others occupants and learn about things to do in the area. Yvonne is a great cook and each breakfast was delicious. The building has a nice parlor off the living room with lots of books and a TV. We spent an evening in there watching GOT. There is a wonderful font porch with several chairs. And then in the back a large patio. The B&B is a couple blocks from the main intersection of Rhinebeck on the way up to Red Hook. And lastly Yvonne is very knowledgeable of the area, if your looking for what to do she is a great source of ideas. One one minor critique is I wish the room had been a touch warmer.

Our room 9 had the sweetest, all-around views from the multiple windows both in our corner room & in the bathroom of all the greenery, flowers & lawns. Although breakfast is no longer offered as part of the room rate, we were "grandfathered in" by the super amenable, welcoming head chef, who, in large part, is the engine behind the hotel's managing group, because our room had been booked when the breakfast plan was still in existence. Our breakfasts were presented beautifully & by servers who were super friendly & engaging, as is the rest of the staff here. The pool had not yet been filled for the summer, so we enjoyed sunning on the pool deck, the sweet sauna, walks to the lake down below the property, played shuffleboard, billiards in the way-downstairs which has stone walls, low ceilings, a wine closet, board games & game table, as well as darts. The first floor library is cozy, filled with couches, upholstered chairs, books, coloring books & colored pencils & the in-house restaurant offers 3 meals a day, either in the beautifully outfitted & sunny dining room or on the back patio, alongside a rain barrel, herb garden, smoke house, fire pit & the grassy lawns. The owners & the hotel's hospitality group are working on upgrading & updating the facilities & its offerings & we applaud them for their efforts & plans. We are glad that we could fully enjoy this welcoming, beautiful old stone home & its equally welcoming staff. AND, we thank the head chef for the bottle of Prosecco that he gifted us! P.S. I think I saw someone moving a rolling chicken coop from one part of the property to another!

The room was nicely furnished and immaculate. The large windows offered a view of the woods. Breakfast was more than ample with fresh baked biscuits and muffins, a fruit course, wonderful waffles one day and an omelette with herbed cheese the next. The large window in the dining room allowed us to see the multitude of birds that visited the bird feeder. We were fortunate to have wonderful breakfast companions with interesting and sometimes deep conversation. The relaxed atmosphere of the inn made that possible. We would definitely stay there again should the opportunity arise.

Gourmet breakfast,David Smythe is a chef/instructor at the Culinary Institute of America and Justine (hospitality queen/wife) is also a graduate of CIA so a powerful couple combined with a dope B&B, it's better than Disney World MAGIC. For breakfast, you get to choose and order the night beforehand on a very thorough breakfast menu. And they prepare your breakfast right when you arrive at your preferrred time to the kitchen. An experience you will not get anywhere else! They have a plate of the freshest sweetest fruits ever waiting for you when you arrive, along with your requested beverage(s)... for us coffee and orange juice. A pitcher of OJ just for you. MMMM. I wonder where they pick the fruits from. Hm. After that, they feed you a croissant (being that I ordered blueberry pancakes), i just stared at my dude begin to stuff himself. And ta da- BLUEBERRY pancakes with BACON. it was so amazing. I'm not fond of big pancakes as it gets dried quick. David Smythe perfected the mini mes with flaky airiness and crispy sides. MMMMM. And perfectly cooked bacon. HEAVENLY. the aroma will also knock you off your feet while you wait. So the next morning, I order it again! This place has been PERFECTION. NOM NOM NOM NOM. Hotel Tivoli is owned and operated by artists Helen and Brice Marden ( Brice passed a year ago)…read more Both artists, I believe, belong to the minimalist and conceptual era of the 1970s, 1980s... etc. I imagine both Helen and Brice spent a great deal of their time drinking and talking at Max's Kansas City or perhaps the Cedar Tavern, eventually Area, the Canal Bar, and The Bowery Bar in New York City. The design is a tribute to the mid 20th century. Art objects usually found and bought at vintage flea markets such as Brimfield can be found throughout the hotel. I like mid 20th century design very much but I do not find in very comforting. The hotel is a bit like a museum. Look but perhaps do not touch. For sure do not sit! Either way it is a very enjoyable place to spend some time. It is an old building but it is well maintained. The staff is extremely helpful and kind. The restaurant which sweeps thru the entire ground floor and outside porch is very good. The food and wine is excellent. The coffee hut towards the back of the property is a great idea. The town of Tivoli is on the outskirts of Bard college so there are a lot of student types walking around town. Not the frat boy type of kids... but more like the counter culture hippie kind of kids I was a part of in the 1960s.
