After staying in a horrible hotel I booked this one and it was just what I needed. When you come in they have coffee and tea available and some chocolate chip cookies. I paid through a third party and so the room was taken care of. They gave us some welcome waters and we were off to our room. They put us in #204 and it was perfect, everything was clean and stocked just like it should be. Kellie at the front desk was so amazing and helpful. Breakfast was also great and helped us fuel up for our morning. In the evening I was able to do our laundry while the men went swimming. It was an awesome stay and we have not one complaint. Would definitely stay here again if I return to the area.

We decided to stay here after scoping out the other hotels in Clarks Summit. It's tucked away behind a small strip of stores (including a yogurt shop) and behind a seemingly abandoned bank. I like that it's more private that way since the road is very busy. At checkin, one of the front desk girls was busy venting to her coworker about a client -- told me to hold on -- before the coworker realized that she should in fact serve the customer first before having their sidebar. There were cookies for customers to grab which was nice. Checkin was easy and room keys were already prepped. The room was clean and AC was easy to run. The bed was surprisingly comfortable with clean duvets. The bathroom tile floor, nightstands and chest were a little dated, but everything else was updated, like the seat/ottoman, really nice LG TV that gave us no trouble with clarity and reception) and wifi (free for HHonors). Bathroom stocked with Neutrogena products, makeup remover and plenty of towels, which I appreciated. The blowdryer was really clean, not a speck in the filter but was weak. The water pressure is also weak in the shower but had a new head and tub was spotless. Every floor had its own ice and vending machine. Carpet was clean but always felt a little damp. Gym had new machines... A surprisingly stable and good treadmill. There was a TV in the room, exercise balls and weights. Free breakfast: Our days started with omelets and sausage links, with other things like a waffle maker, baked goodies (eh), mini cereal boxes, yogurt and sliced fruit (avoid, loaded with syrup). Was always stocked with food no matter how late we woke. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and said hello. The maid also wished us a safe trip goodbye. Overall, it's a standard clean chain hotel with some aesthetic updates, provides free breakfast and easy access to the highway...but it really is in the middle of no where. You'll need a car to get places as the roads are very busy. Would prefer to stay in Scranton next time.

This is a mixed review. Started out shakey but they redeemed themselves. I booked a room online and chose one of the pricer ones with a king bed, microwave and refrigerator. I was coming into town for a workout/bootcamp weekend (PhatCamp with Nicole Wilkins at Brown's Gym), and needed to bring my meals with me and heat them in my room. Upon arriving at the hotel after a 2.5 hr drive, I check in and I was told my room does not have these amenities. The clerk said to me "Oh you booked this online". I said "Yea- it's 2017..." So apparently if you want some specific things in your room, you have to call and book like it's 1980. Lol. The clerk then said he could accomodate me by giving me a different room with 2 queen beds (I was there alone) with the fridge and microwave FOR MORE MONEY. After I had a nyc meltdown on the clerk and I said I wasn't going to pay more for their mistake. The clerk gave me the original room and said he would try and "find" me a fridge and microwave and bring it to my room. That's exactly what he did about 20 minutes later. He made it right and saved my weekend. Besides that issue- I LOVED MY STAY!!! The room was great- king size bed and couch in the room. Neutrogena bath products and thick, cozy towels in the bathroom. Great complimentary breakfast- with omelets, hard boiled eggs, waffles AND Krispy Kreme donuts on Sunday!! Plus they had 24 hr amazing coffee in the lobby with creamers and all. I loved that. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Pool was awesome and huge! The pool room was warm and I was the only one in there swimming. (I stayed in a neighboring hotel last year and their pool was freezing and the room wasn't heated- couldn't even swim it was so cold! )The jacuzzi looked great but was broken-that was disappointing after working out all weekend. I was looking forward to a good soak! Gym was small but had a lot of new looking equipment. Will DEF stay here next year when I return for bootcamp weekend. (I will just make sure I call ahead to book over the phone. Lol).

My husband thinks Spark is the best of what's available, although he agrees with me and other guests that part of its appeal is its newness. The other two are old although refurbished not too, too long ago. How it holds up remains to be seen. The room was comfortable except for the lack of a desk chair-- it only had a padded stool with no back. And the easy chair was not very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was adequate -- about all it didn't have was the almost ubiquitous eggs/sausage/potatoes in chafing dishes. The room was cramped, though, and would be unpleasant if many guests were getting breakfast at the same time. Overall, the Spark is has a cheerful and welcoming vibe. It was very clean and provided all the normal basics.

Ample parking, good location that's close to stores and restaurants, fairly new and clean facility. Free hot breakfast, nice pool (not heated but still a decent temperature), modern rooms. I used to take pride in choosing Hilton brands. Over the years, the standards have dropped fast. This location is a perfect example. Let's start with breakfast. The coffee is awful. Not "kind of weak." Not "could be better." Just bad. If I did not travel with my own coffee, I would be stuck with something I would not even serve at home. Now the bigger issue. Service and cleanliness are not what you expect when you pay a good price for a room. A clean room should stay clean. Rooms should be serviced the way they were for decades. Daily basics. Trash. Towels. Bathroom. Floors. Instead, guests get excuses. They blame short staffing. I blame supervision. If a hotel cannot meet basic standards, that is not a staffing problem. That is leadership letting problems slide. And when I hear staff blame other staff, it tells me the accountability is even worse. Even the basics have been cut down. The toilet paper is so thin you can read your iPad or a newspaper through it. pending upon what you use, it a joke. And the room does not smell clean. It smells like whatever perfume, cologne, cigarettes, they smoke, or strong cleaner the person used. That is not "fresh." That is covering up. The final straw is the visible neglect. If I can stand in the bathroom and see mold and cobwebs along the floorboards, that tells me the hotel is not being maintained and not being checked. This is not about "elite status." This is about being a paying customer and expecting the bare minimum: clean, maintained, and professionally managed. And yes, they still charge you full price on the way out. I will not be back.

Very close to the University of Scranton, Steamtown, any of the actual in town sites from The Office and right off of 81. No real issue with the room. The carpet was stained in multiple spots but aside from that, everything worked as advertised. While there are several bars/restaurants close by, I opted to stay in since I was beat from a long kayak trip and had another one the next day. The restaurant, PJ's 1910 Pub, ain't sexy, but it gets the job done. Good enough hang with the small group at the bar which consisted of a few guests and what seemed like a few locals that stop by frequently since the staff knew exactly what they were drinking as soon as they got there. At the end of the day, this place isn't new and it isn't modern but to me it more than gets the job done and commensurate to the price, I can't complain. Good Enough.
