Filthy! This place literally has trash all around the parking lot and riffraff hanging around outside - even a blow up couch in the parking lot where they were hanging around. They handed me the room keys in a filthy old envelope with the room number - clearly reused many times. I never went into the room. Gross. read more

room was freshly painted , clean , new floors and smelled very clean. I was able to soak in a bathtub. close to the 81 exit and convenient .

pleasant front desk people who tried to please us and gave us a cool room with a balcony and little stream and a big tub. We had to reverse the battery on the smoke detector. Reasonably priced for rural pennsylvania on a pretty full night. Like the driveway through the building nestled on the hill. read more

Econo Lodge - Hotels Near Me - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania

The only reason this place is getting a 1 star is because the desk clerk was super nice and refunded me money! When I walked in to check in there was a guy that walked in behind me telling the desk clerk that his room was full of cockroaches. The desk clerk allowed me to go to the room and look at it. There were roaches crawling g on the walls of the shower behind the toilet and up the wall behind the tv. I do not recommend this place read more

Do not stay here. It was not worth the money. There is no hot water and I definitely saw a bug crawling across the ceiling when I was falling asleep. Furthermore there was hair on the bed and the sheets weren't dry yet. There is no way to adjust the temperature in the room so the dry air blew all night. There is nothing good to say about this hotel. The only good thing I could say was that I booked only one night. read more

I was skeptical with a $40 night price, but shouldn't have been. The room was very clean, no bad smells. Tv worked fine with LOTS of channels. Bed was very clean and comfortable. Heater worked fine. Bathroom was clean with a nice powerful shower head. The only issue was that the bathroom floor was several inches higher and I tripped going in several times. read more

Place is ran down and dirty ... the property looks really sketchy and I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy also I'm I got bit last night on both me legs and on my back stay away from this place read more

Upon arrival at 11pm from a long trip we entered our nightmare. Stained bedspread, (ready for the trash) and literally black dirt between the sheets. I went to turn on the lamp, which did not work, and found deep dirt and cob webs on the bulb. This not mentioning the stench in the room of mildew. We left and canceled but to our surprise no rooms were available within 100 miles due to a motorcycle convention taking place. We ended up driving an additional hour and a half to our final destination of Liberty NY and had to pay a very high price for a room finally getting to bed at 2:30am. "Choice Privileges"?? Not in my book. Maybe Clarks Summit needs a better health inspector. read more

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, the rates were AMAZING and the rooms were clean

WARNING! This place is a biohazard- I don't think they've changed the sheets in weeks. We changed rooms twice only to find hairs, dirt and most of the tree next door in all the beds. To say this place is a dump would be unkind to dumps. My expectations were not high going in, but the staff made a bad situation worse. I didn't feel unsafe but I do feel unclean. I hope this review helps others avoid an unpleasant experience. read more

3.5 Stars. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't really choose to sleep in hotels. It's just not my thing, for many reasons. However, it was slim pickings up here in NEPA. The only Airbnb options were too far from where we were headed and there's nothing else too hip going on lodging wise around here so we found ourselves at this hotel via Expedia. So hey, at least I get my points right?! I've slept many a places from The Ritz and 5 Star Luxury Resorts to a tent in the middle of The Appalachians, to up in a tree (literally) so I've done and seen it all, from drastically different ends of the spectrum. This was a simple stay that required very little. This time we didn't need fancy and it was just fine for our larger party. We booked three rooms for our family to join us the next day and it served its purpose. We paid $59 on a Friday night and $75 for each room on a Saturday night. I mean, hello!! Where could you even get close to that price for a decent night's stay, on the weekend, near what you need? I do believe I got an Expedia discount however. Maybe look into that?! The rooms had just been renovated. The bed was actually pretty comfy as were the thick pillows. There was a flatscreen, a microwave, an iron with ironing board and fridge which came in handy as we had leftovers. The only thing I didn't love was the smaller stall shower with curtains instead of glass doors. (Personally preference) but the pressure was really great and the marble was nice. No bath however if you have little ones! There's even a tiny creek that runs out front which is nice. It's set up more of a motel with separate outside entrances for each room, off a small walk up balcony. Not sure if there's a handicap ramp. Didn't see one. Maybe call if that's a concern. I'm pretty sure it's a law to have one, right?! There are green lush mountains all around outside. There's a Starbucks and DD right there for a quick breakfast or a cup of coffee in the morning. The hotel does include breakfast which my kiddos would probably love as it's filled with stuff they don't eat at home (sugary cereals, muffins and regular waffles etc), but we didn't and don't eat that stuff anyway so having the other options nearby for a good cup of coffee and a nicer sit down breakfast at a diner was great. You could walk to Gourmet Diner right next door for those small hometown vibes, jukebox and all. Pretty much anything else you could need from nail salons to two different yoga studios, to pretty good sushi options (Kyoto & Ocean), to chain restaurants like Moe's Southwest etc, to small town, family owned diners, to an outside bar at State Side Grill, to super-markets and our new favorite, an Asian Fusion, more upscale dinner at Formosa. You'll find what you may need, whatever that may be. There's even the quaint, adorable center of town that usually has festivals like The Annual Ice Fest and carnivals etc. with unique shops including my favorite store in all the land, "Everything Natural" just down the road!! Check it out! So fun! Lots of goodies! The hotel is located just yards from the PA Turnpike entrance and close enough to Scranton, Wilkes Barre, Barrington, Dickson City and Dalton that you could easily stay here when visiting any of those places. We would stay here again as we come up here fairly often and it's just to visit family so pretty much just a place to rest our heads. It's fine. Really. read more

I got this hotel as a last minute stay on hotwire for my trip up north for an early Thanksgiving trip and it wasn't worth the money at all. The sink leaked and would not drain, the sheets had cigarette burn holes and the towels clearly were not changed. I also found a live cockroach crawling in the bathroom. They also list that they have breakfast, they do NOT. It was not worth the money I paid. I really hope econo lodge visits the place because it gives them a bad name. read more

Booked a room thru Priceline. It was supposed to include free wifi and breakfast... The wifi must be from the damn stone age bc it's painfully slow and unusable... And as for the complementary breakfast, it's fake advertising. The owner actually has the friggin nerve to put the coffee machine with cups and juice dispensers on a table where it says breakfast is from 6 to 9, and then when you get there at 7 to eat breakfast the slimy fuktard says they haven't served it in over a year bEcaAuse of cOvId... read more

I'm going to give you the straight forward opinion about this place no chaser. Are you ready? When I drove up to this Econo Lodge I immediately knew it was going to be and experience. I entered into a small reception area. The gentleman was very nice and assisted me the best he could. I checked in no problem. What I went to my room I was totally taken back by what I saw. The doors are red made out of solid wood the carpet on the outside covered a wooden floor and when I entered the wooden table that sat by the door with two chairs that will also wouldn't was stained and the cushion on both chairs which one tremendously. It was not a very pleasing situation. The beds were made and look like the bed in the picture the most modern thing in there I will say is probably the bed. I give it a one-star because I slept comfortably although I was greeted in the morning by two roaches crawling on the wall. The bathroom was small and the towel rack was broken hanging from the wall. The curtains that hung at the window with torn and they did not draw to keep the light out. I don't understand how towels we're able to hang on the towel rack now that I'm thinking about it. The television was Modern and the water pressure was fine. When I got up to go fishing the next morning I quickly went to get breakfast there was a power outage so I couldn't toast my toast. So I had to have a couple of small blueberry muffins. coffee was horrible. It is what it is. It was after I returned that I noticed the property completely by my room there was garbage spread all over the property which I'm assuming was The Dumping area. They were mattresses there was a slew of different garbage from metal to paperwork the plastic which should have been in the garbage bin but it was not. You could clearly see this was not an act of a night creature you can clearly see that it was just laziness. The yard keeper was not doing his or her job. I would not recommend this place. I would not stay here again. If you can spend the extra money please do. Had I canceled out I would have lost my money and therefore I stayed. I gave this place a to Star because the second star belong to the gentleman at the front desk as mentioned was helpful and pleasant. read more

We paid $60 per night, and that is sure what we got! The sheets and towels were stained with what looked like blood and the breakfast was very minimal, some bread and off brand cereal. Also, we were in a room right above the main office and the door into the office needed some serious attention. Whenever the door would open or close, there would be an obnoxious noise that vibrated the whole room. Probably will never come back. read more

So. You want to stay in an Econo Lodge, do you? Honestly I have pretty basic standards in a hotel; I just want it to be clean, quiet, and safe and offer me a nice waffle and a place to sit while I eat my breakfast, but that is not what one will find here. Let's start in the lobby. I hope you like air freshener, because the lobby at this one reeked of it. I have never smelled so much air freshener in such a small place in all my days. It gave me a headache just to be in the lobby at all, and I was in there several times, because the first room I was given was in extremely poor repair. The heater would go on for a few seconds, turn off for a minute, and then turn back on for a few seconds, no matter what temperature it was set at. The walls were uneven and looked patched or just shoddily done. Part of the ceiling was purple for some reason, as if someone had forgotten to put a panel back on. The shower was just a single stall shower, not a tub. I know it's an Econo Lodge but no one should pay to stay in a room that is falling apart that badly. Back to the fragrant lobby I went. I told the desk clerk that I could not stay in the hotel, which he chose to hear as a request for a new room rather than a request for a refund. At this point I had already decided that I should never ever cheap out on a hotel again. But he offered to show me another room which was nowhere near as terrible. The heat even stayed on (pretty much forever, it turned out; I was able to sleep only by turning the system to "cool" and setting it at its warmest setting). However, for some reason the desk clerk wasn't able to make me a key to the new room right away. He said he had to call someone to have the key machine reset. He kept asking if I wanted to leave my things in the room but I had no intention of leaving my suitcase in a room I didn't have a key to. I went to dinner and I was able to get a key when I returned, but I can't for the life of me understand why the machine could only make keys at a certain rate. The second room, which I did stay in, was in better repair, though it was rough around the edges. I slept all right and the WiFi worked; there were a wide variety of pillows to suit all pillow preferences, and the water pressure was phenomenal even if the vanity looked like it had been put together by someone suffering from vertigo. I opted out of the continental breakfast, not wanting to smell the lobby again. There didn't look like there was even much space for the breakfast to be set up anyway, so I can't imagine it was more than coffee and dry cereal. read more

Avoid at all costs. Shabby exterior, musty interior, one of the worst breakfasts I've ever experienced. We left as soon as we could in the morning; didn't even want to shower there. Yecch! read more

It doesn't look like much when driving up. The desk clerk could've been a little more polite and dressed a little better, but its the room that got the stars. Very comfortable bed, great water pressure in the shower and a huge 55+ inch t.v. The room was more than spacious with a micro and coffee maker. It's hardly the Ritz, but for very affordable price I'm more than happy to recommend it. read more

I'm in the road not looking for a Hilton just a clean place to sleep. This place is definitely old but it was cleaner and the room in better condition than the downtown Chicago Marriott I just stayed in. No fancy breakfast. I don't care. A relatively small TV. But adequate. Quiet and very pleasant people. For a total of $66 what more could you ask? I will return for sure. read more

Do Not Stay Here!! They only care about Money!! Not Human Life!! Basically Scranton has closed down. The St Pats parade and The Scranton Half Marathon were all canceled do to the Coronavirus and this hotel would not cancel and refund my reservation. I called Choice Hotels, very nice, helpful, and made a claim for me, but called me back 30mins later to say the hotel would not cancel or re fund my money. I called the hotel to ask why and they were rude and combative. DO NOT STAY HERE!! They are not good people or have good business practices. There are many more places to stay in the area. Thanks for reading. read more

Very bad moldy, smokey smelling room, AC did not work. Seriously, something like a putrid mix of ashtray, cat litter, & black mold. Really bad, honestly. Even though inexpensive, I recommend saving the $ and sleeping in your car. Or even in a dumpster. read more

Do not stay here, I had a horrible experience in my stay. The room was clean but everything else was bad, the bed mattress was very uncomfortable, it has old picture tube televisions from the 1980's, the air conditioner barely worked, and no wifi. But worst of all is the smell of mold, my wife had to do my laundry twice to get rid of the smell, and I still smell it in my air ways..... Don't stay here, especially if you have young kids and breathing problems read more
