This was our first stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites while visiting Ogden. It's located in a historic building in the heart of downtown, so we were excited to stay there, but unfortunately, one thing after another made our stay not the greatest. For starters, when we checked in, we were given a completely different room from what we had chosen. Then we were advised the parking garage (that you pay $12 a day for) would be unavailable the following day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. due to a car show, and we would have to park blocks away from the hotel. After our first night's stay, housekeeping never came in to clean our room or provide new towels. The room is only stocked with two smaller bath towels and no extras. The hotel offers laundry facilities where you can wash your clothes, and when we went to wash, there was only one washer and one dryer for the entire hotel that required quarters. When we asked for change to buy quarters for the laundry, the front desk didn't even have change for a $20 and advised they couldn't just add it to the room. The room they put us in was right across from the elevator, so every time someone got on or off, we could hear the elevator ding and their entire conversation! The noise from Washington Blvd. is insane. It's so loud and noisy! I think the only positives were the front desk staff was friendly, and the hotel is within walking distance to historic 25th Street, where there are several restaurants and bars as well as shopping. Unfortunately, the whole experience just felt very inconvenient and disappointing, which was a total bummer. read more

Only one door to enter the hotel. You must pull up to the curb out front, go in and register, go back and unload. Drive to 1 of 4 parking areas, not well lit, walk back to the hotel. No pet walking areas except on the street. Very busy street intersection and it's extremely loud and noisy. NO refunds, probably because of the inaccessibility of the parking and unloading. Bring ear plugs, pack light. Comfy beds, within walking distance to bars and restaurants. read more

A large, historic hotel located very centrally in downtown Ogden, right at the bus stop for the (free) downtown trolley bus. Impeccably clean and supportive of questions and preferences. Alex was a constantly-smiling gem of a front desk manager and gave us good insight into local options for dining and sites. We were on the sixth floor at the NE corner suite and had a very nice view of the mountain range. Traffic noise below was negligible at night and I would request this room directorial in the future. The bath gel smelled very good and the shower was instantly hot with good pressure. I would like to see more channels available on TV, though -- it seemed that only 12 or 15 were available. read more

Checked in on a Sunday and checked out on Friday on a business trip. The room the lady initially gave me had a terrible view of the alleyway facing essentially a wall. I called down and she gave me another room with a better view of Washington Blvd. However there is another bigger problem. There are Nats everywhere!!! The first night I thought okay, maybe there are only a few. But ended up having even more the next day. I thought okay maybe it will get better (after killing probably 10 thus far) and tomorrow may be a better day. It didn't get any better. I called in on Wednesday and told them about the problem. Requested another room and the front desk told me, "Sorry we are fully booked tonight and to check tomorrow". Basically, sorry we don't care about how nasty it is. I ended the call by telling her okay I will leave a review about this. Still no worries and she hung up. I would think 100% customer satisfaction is what Hilton is about, but apparently not. read more

Girlfriend and I "ran away" from home (like 15 miles) for a Friday night. Our goal was to eat our way through Historic Ogden and relax. I did a lot of research on location, safety and noise before choosing this hotel. It was the right hotel. The location on the corner made it perfect for access to stores and food places across Washington and down the 24th/25th Street areas. Check in was easy, and even checking in a couple of hours apart there were no glitches. Front desk staff was training a new person, but all were still very friendly and knowledgeable. LOVED our room! It was hard to get a room in this hotel with 2 beds, and this one was at the end of the hall on the 5th floor, not a great view from the windows, but we didn't get it to view the world from the window. Will totally ask for this specific room in the future, even if I don't need 2 beds because it was far enough away from the elevator that we didn't hear a sound. Nicely appointed common areas and guest room. Very reasonable price for the area. Wasn't a big fan of the hot breakfast, but that's fine when you have multiple options just out the front doors. We are staying here for the Ogden Marathon, we selected this hotel for the price as it was the most affordable option for the Marathon Weekend. The hotel is every bit of what we expected, it's old and doesn't have some of the amenities a newer hotel would have like a pool, the fact that it's old gives it some charm and even gives off some Tower of Terror vibes if you know what I mean. Overall the staff has been very helpful and have even gone above and beyond to accommodate the racers for the Marathon. The rooms aren't anything fancy but they're clean and cozy. Would not recommend if you have littles that want a fun place to stay unless they're into haunted stuff, then this hotel is for them read more

I haven't stayed in a Hampton Inn in a long time, so not sure if what I experienced is just normal for this hotel brand or not. The service from the check-in person was the only decent part of the stay. She was friendly and honest. The internet service connection apparently is normally not good (talked to the front desk about it). There was a note asking customers to keep the thermostats between a certain range. I received a note under my door saying I should likely run the water awhile before using. The room did not have a clean feel to it. read more

There is nothing in particular that is wrong about this place but because things are so old and outdated it just felt dirty and broken down. Alto of things looked to get the landlord special (a fresh coat of paint) instead of being replaced or fixed like it probably should have been. However, for what we needed it served it's purpose and was a decent price. The staff was lovely and the breakfast was great. Sound felt like it did travel a little more than it would if it was a newer building but idk if there is much you could do as far as sound proofing an old building. There is no on site parking, there is a parking lot about a block away. This country girl got lost trying to find the parking lot, not hotels fault, but parking is a problem. You have to check in and unload in a loading zone. Staff is excellent, but no help with unloading. It is an older building, but nicely finished. Cooling is ok, but not ac. Front desk staff & management encourage guests to park illegally on the street where signs clearly say "1 HR PARKING 9AM-6PM EXCEPT SUNDAY" and "NO PARKING 11:00PM TO 5:00AM". Ogden Police Officer confirmed to me parking where I was offered would have me at risk legally & financially if I was towed. No other options & no empathy from Hampton/Hilton. We generally like Hampton Inns but this one did not meet their standard on our recent visit. When we checked in we found an unmade bed and had to wait for someone to come fix it. The front desk said we would get 2000 Hilton points because of it but did not follow through on that. Also they have limited hotel parking. The first night we had to park in a nearby garage by ourselves. We asked the next day after other guests had left if we could move into the hotel lot and did. But when we returned that night the lot was full which means they over booked it. We quit trying the third night of our stay. The front desk did not seem to care. Other Hilton properties nearby may be better options. read more

This is the first Hampton Inn I've been to in years that hasn't been a complete dumpster fire. The receptionist actually greeted us politely, the rooms were kept, and the building was odor free. Beautiful old building with a remodeled lobby. The rest of the building, including elevators and sleeping rooms, retain the old character. The room was fine. Parking isn't clear from their website or the app. The front desk staff don't seem to care about anything other than chatting with each other and they don't seem to communicate with housekeeping very well either. We waited forever for a clean room (and we were understanding about that given staffing shortages). I felt we should check status and found a new desk clerk who had absolutely NO idea I was waiting. I did get a room soon after that but was left with a pretty bad impression. We now stay at the Hilton Garden Inn a block or so away. Much easier parking and professional staff there make a huge difference. read more

Do not stay here! I am here to work. I felt a laundry bag (provided by hotel) on my bed Friday am before going into work to have it laundered, I placed a handwritten note next to it explaining I wanted the belonging in the bag laundered and put a $2 bills. When I return from work Friday afternoon the bag, note and $2 tip was gone. Monday afternoon I went up to my room and the clean items was not in my room so I decided to use the phone when I noticed it was not working. I spoke with front desk who assured me it was handled. I also told her my phone was not working she stated she would send engineer up. I returned from dinner Monday night my phone still did not work. Tuesday after work my belongings had not returned to me room. Went to front desk for the 2nd time spoke to a different front desk employee. She stated she had not been told about my missing items she went to the back and spoke to manager. The manager called manager of housekeeping Rosa but it was unknown where my belonging were and who took them. All I have received are excuses no sense of urgency whatsoever. I informed front desk my phone still didn't work. She stated the engineer could not fix my phone (tried the cords and switched the phone) but I was left a business card from engineer stating "we have repaired the problem you reported." This is a no credible statement as my phone still does mot work. The front desk employee called the housekeeping manager while I waited in the lobby, and expected me to follow up with her when this is a staffing issue of hers. She stated the housekeepers do not speak English so she would not have been able to read my note. Then why would you remove the bag that had dirty clothes in it, the note, and money from my bed if you didn't understand what was written. I left Friday morning. There is still answer as to who took my belongings from my room. Apparently the housekeeping manager only interviewed half of her staff but wouldn't she have a schedule dictating which employee cleaned what floor? It makes no sense and this location is franchised so I couldn't even place a complaint with Hilton directly. This place is horrendous. Pretty, clean spacious rooms, and completely unprofessional front desk staff. At check in they never asked for picture ID. So anyone could have checked in under my name. The woman at the desk asked for my card for incidentals. I thought it was to have it on file. She ran it through THEN said I would be refunded after my stay. I had to ask how much I was charged. She had put a $300 hold on my card without telling me! Later my sister in law stopped by the desk for help. She waited 10 minutes for someone to show up. The other woman waiting said she had been waiting 20 minutes. When the 2 women working at the front desk came back they claimed to have only been gone 3 minutes and said they were handling room deliveries. I have worked at a few hotel front desks. The front desk is vital for running a hotel. The staff not only handles the normal stuff, registration, questions, etc, they also handle emergencies. If there are 2 people working then one should be within hearing at all times for the safety of their guests. Sure, step in the back to sit down, but have a bell at the desk so guests can get your attention. You have deliveries, assign one of the two of you to handle them. This is basic. And never hand someone a room key without checking ID. If a stranger showed up claiming to be checked in, then I showed up later I could have walked into a dangerous situation alone with my hands too full of luggage to defend myself. Interesting old hotel in downtown Ogden. Nicely updated. Very limited parking and my husband had to shoo out a vagrant who was using the last parking spot as a bathroom. Room was clean though with limited supplies - like no pen and paper. My primary issue was with the lackadaisical attitude toward masking. Clerk was masked but person in front of us was unmasked and clerk said nothing to the customer to ask her to mask. When I asked about their mask policy and why had the clerk not enforced it, she said that her manager Jose had told them not to say anything to customers. Well, that is VERY wrong and in conflict with Hampton policies. Interesting though that the morbidly obese customer without the mask is exactly the person who will be in most trouble in our hospital. People like her often don't make it. read more

PROS: Staff was friendly, prompt, and professional. Rooms were clean and functional. CONS: Parking is an issue, their lot only holds about 20 cars, when it's full you need to use a third party lot which they give you a voucher for but both lots are about a block away from the entrance to the hotel, in 20 degree weather that's no fun. Our room didn't have an odor, but the hallway had a strong smell of cigarettes. Overall, it wouldn't be my first choice for next time, but if needed I would stay again. read more

Yes, I am giving this Hampton Inn 5 stars for appearance, courtesy of the staff, and the cleanliness of the rooms. It's the highest ranking that I've given any hotel - this place is unique. It's a real shame that they do not have some sort of historical blurb about this hotel - in the lobby or even in the guest services book. Like, the hotel opened in 1913, has 124 rooms, near the historic district (25th street, Union Station, etc) - ALL within walking distance, and it opened after the remodel to the 2002 SLC Olympics. I had to find all that online - because the property is really beautiful. Parking is a bear, but for $12, you can valet --- which is quite reasonable to this road warrior. Font desk gave us a room and told us it was the "last room" they had. Arriving to the room, we found the air conditioning system was not working and the room was hot. Entering the bathroom, there was mold all over the ceiling. We asked for another room (even though we were told we had the last room). Miraculously, they gave us another room. When we swiped the key and opened the door to our new room, there was already someone in the room...sleeping! Poor man woke up scared to find us opening the door to a room he already booked!!! We went back down to inform front desk and complain...miraculously, AGAIN we were given yet a different room. It was already past midnight and we decided to stay in that room. Luckily, there wasn't already someone else sleeping in the new room. Breakfast in the morning was awful, runny tasteless eggs, waffles and biscuits...that's it. Let me preface this by saying that we have stayed at this hotel probably 10 times previously. This time, however, we were in room 820 on the top floor. When we checked in and got to the room, it was very warm (81 degrees), which is fine, as the A/C was off. We turned on the A/C, and after about 20 minutes the temperature had not moved, and the air was not coming out cool. The windows do not open either. I called the desk to ask if the A/C was working, and they said they had someone on site working on it, and it would be working soon. That's fine, we were heading out to our event anyway. We left at about 5:30, and returned at about 9:45 pm, where we found the A/C to still not work and the temp in the room was now 82 degrees. The front desk declined to move us to another room (our friends were in room 302, and said it was 73 degrees in their room). We ended up packing up and leaving the hotel to go elsewhere at 10pm. The hotel is refusing to offer a refund for our 'stay'. So, I paid $194.83 for a suite that was 82 degrees and not sleepable. All of our future annual business (and our friend's business) will be oved to the Marriott a couple blocks away. I can handle a little bit warm, but 82 is hot, and the general manager apparently does not care...he must sleep with his temp set at 85 at home. The product you provide your customer matters, and customer service matters.....the manager of this hotel does not understand that and simply hides behind the official 'policy'...lame. read more

Great location within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants, however our room was facing the busy street and very noisy. We had a long drive ahead of us the next day and my husband needed a good night's sleep so finally at 11:00 PM he asked the front desk about the loud cars (sounded like street racing which had been going on since 8:30 PM) and we switched to a quieter room. While moving rooms was inconvenient, our family was able to get a good night's sleep and appreciated the staff's efforts to make us comfortable. read more

Bait and switch! Don't believe the photos this place puts on its website. I can assure you that it's not the same. This place is one step above a hostel. The hotel was dirty. Room, dirty. Walls and carpets old and dirty. The elevator was super tiny and had unsafe doors. It also smelled and the walls were all stained and had smudge marks all over. This place reminded us of a truck stop hotel. The beds felt like sleeping in a bird's nest, it felt like I was in a round hole. The towels in our bathroom looked like rags; old, thin. The towels were so old that they had no shape. Our window curtains were broken too. And our room smelled unpleasant. The only thing OK about this room was the bathroom. It was big and semi-cleaned. Do yourself a favor, if you are considering staying here please scroll past the "stock" photos and look at the pictures taken by guests who have stayed here. Absolutely horrible, paid for two nights they only had us booked for one, so had to deal with that on check-in, incredibly unprofessional. We had our confirmation as they did not believe us. Manager at this hotel is rude, demeaning and she yells at paying customers. Then proceeded to lie to us about the time we checked out. Not acceptable. Parking is blocks away, not convenient, not close, and not safe. And you have to pay for it!!! The staff is not unhelpful with loading or unloading. No hot water. Then way overcharged us, without our authorization! So not ok! Definitely would not recommend this to anyone! read more

It's January 8 and I checked in this place for one night. I paid $150 for the room online, a single king. Upon my arrival they charge me an additional $75 for incidentals. When I got to my room it was a tiny room, no microwave and not even a mini fridge. I could've done a lot better if I would've stayed at Motel 6. Plus there is no nearby parking for this place. You have to park around the block in a decrepit parking garage. I hope and pray my car doesn't get broken into tonight. I will never ever stay here again read more

Way overpriced for the quality of hotel you get. Our room furniture had huge rips on the fabric (5 inches long), our floor reeked of cigarette smoke even though our area was non-smoking, the breakfast was terrible (unhealthy, sugary, pre-packaged things with barely any healthy options other than oatmeal with no toppings, and the coffee was awful), the HVAC system is really loud and woke us up at night, the parking garage is not attached to the hotel and the loading area is right next to traffic zooming by, our shower was broken and had poor pressure, and the service staff apparently were dealing with crazy guests every time we had to talk to them and the staff had little patience left when talking to us, but thankfully they were courteous. The dog fee was 50$ for our overnight stay and non-refundable even if our dog did nothing to the room. The decor inside the hotel is also outdated and falling apart (carpets), the elevator was rattly. At least we had complimentary wifi, the room was spacious, and the location was close to other restaurants and breweries to go to. No staff member was wearing masks either. Would not recommend staying here - save your money and hit up another nearby hotel because this one is not worth what they're charging. read more

After reading the reviews, I had to chime in. This is a lovely hotel in an historic building with character! The staff were very friendly and kind to us. Yes, you have to park around the corner but they only charge $5 for parking, which is a steal in any other downtown area for parking, and it is a very short walk. Our room was spacious, bright, and clean. The location is ideal between old town and the junction! And breakfast is provided to boot! Would def stay here again! read more

Parking (although free) is around the block in a separate parking structure. Makes us a bit nervous because we are traveling on motorcycles and they are out of sight and quite a distance away. I concur! The lemon water is very tasty and adds an air of elegance to the whole Hampton Inn's charm. We were there for 4th of July weekend and stayed in one of their suites which I think was very nice and cleaned everytime to perfection during our 3 nite stay. The entire hotel always smelt so good. I mean you can definately tell that the rugs and air were clean. I don't always leave a tip at a hotel for the maid service but I did this time because I felt Maria Ruth had done an exceptional job preparing our room each day. The breakfast was a very nice touch but I wish they had eggs. The parking situation is a little weird since you have to park your car a couple of buildings down in a parking structure then walk to the hotel. And it would have been nice if they'd had a pool. The Whirlpool was out during our stay as well. Nevertheless, You can really tell that Hampton Inn's are in the Hilton family of hotels. When you stay here you will feel like you spent a lot more money. I totally recommend this place! read more

Probably the nicest Hampton you will ever stay in. Seriously. Located in a historic building in downtown Ogden, you are close to most everything in the area you are trying to visit. They are within close proximity of Historic 25th street and the Junction for entertainment, a stone's throw from good restaurant choices, and public transportation is viable and easy in this part of the city. The hotel itself is classy. It was an Embassy Suites during the Olympics and has been kept very clean and updated for being such an old building. Being old, you will notice a few things.... the windows are old and you will get some street noise in the outside rooms. Parking is off-site and a pain in the backside if you drive anything bigger than a compact. There is no pool or hot tub, but that's a small price to pay. Rooms are fantastic. Well kept and the corner suite we had was roomy and served as a great place to watch the Christmas parade. Breakfast was good and plentiful even though the hotel was full of young hockey players in town for a tournament. (If you can feed that many teenage hockey players and still have food for the rest of us, you have this figured out.) The downtown area has a few choices for hotels, all of them good. I like this Hampton for the historic value and the great service we received. read more
