A post office that stays open until 6pm on a Saturday - awesome! The post office is part of a shop and the owners are super friendly! So what more can I say - five stars from me for the long weekend opening hours, and the friendly staff. read more

The main Post Office serving the area of Solihull, located in Mell Square, definitely goes beyond…read moreyour usual local standards in several departments. Despite looking slightly run down from the outside, the inside is cutting edge (by Post Office terms), with several windows as well as several automated machines that let you print your own stamps, meaning there's never much of a wait, despite being relatively busy. They also have an intelligent ticketing queue system, which lets people sit down whilst waiting instead of having to stand in a line (it's the little things in life, isn't it?). As well as general postage services, they've got a classic Post Office selection of stationary, as well as a couple of booths for passport and driving license photographs. Overall, although I admit that small local Post Offices have a certain British charm about them, I think it's time to embrace the future like Solihull Post Office has.

Solihull post office was my favourite local post office two years ago, now it is my least…read morefavourite. Nowadays only a few of the windows are open and customers are told to use the self service machines. I do not mind using these machines as I can make sure that all stamps are securely fixed to the parcels. I find that I have to keep politely asking half of post office staff to stick stamps down around the edges in all of my local post offices and it is embarrassing. The problem with the self service machines in Solihull post office is that there are only three machines and there always seem to be problems with them. Yesterday, for example I had to wait in a long queue as one machine was not giving out change and could not be fixed and one of the other machines was not working correctly as the stamps were not coming out. I feel really sorry for the staff at this post office as they have to work so hard and look really harassed most of the time. So many staff seem to have left over the past two years. How things have changed and not for the better!

The front of the building is given over to a newsagents and convenience store. The newsagents stocks a good range of magazines, while the convenience store has enough stock to enable you to fill any gaps in your shopping or to put enough snacks together for a picnic. The post office itself is situated at the back of the store. There is often a queue, but this moves quickly. The staff are very efficient, friendly and helpful, even when faced with eBay parcels! They are also happy to complete certificates of posting, and to confirm the cost of specific parcels posted, which is way above and beyond the call of duty. Highly recommended.

The place is friendly but efficient and the people there seem to make a real effort to get to know you a bit as a person, and friend. Everytime ive been in there to send mail they have always given me really good advice about getting the item to their destination quickly and safely but without paying out unnecesarily for more expensive services. Hence i trust them greatly now for impartial advice. They have a good range of envelopes wrapping tape bubble wrap etc if you need stocks, and they can give good advice and often set up Post Office accounts and services here. Id definitely say they offer a brilliant service and id encourage other people in the area to kleep supporting them, as id hate to see places like this under threaty of closure. Highly recommended.
