Not only did the prices increase significantly in the last few years, they now also add a 4% service fee for card transactions (which is illegal with debit cards by the way). I prefer the old-fashioned bagels myself, but if you are looking to consume less bread the flagel may be an option. Obviously a family business because a cool young kid was handing out samples outside. I don't remember seeing any obvious place to sit so I believe it is take out only. Ordered a variety of bagels all fresh. Note that it was not first thing in the morning and they were still fresh. Got chive cream cheese which was also very good. Hampton Bagels has been around for a long time in East Hampton. Its located on North Main Street, so you need to find parking on the street or in the tiny little lot on the side of the building. The store is not the most modern nor the cleanest, but its a bagel place - someplace you go for a quick breakfast or sandwich to go. The food is good, its not fantastic, but its still pretty good. During the season, expect a long wait time. Its the Hamptons, par for the course. Out of season, you can usually be in and out in less than 10 minutes. You can also call ahead to place your order - a good idea for skipping the long lines. The people behind the counter have always been very friendly. They can be overworked at times when the store gets busy, but they've always been nice to deal with. read more

Bob has been operating this bagel shop locally since I was a child. (I'm 26) every batch of bagels is made fresh everyday, what he doesn't sell he donates to the local food bank. If he knows you he will always say hi, even though he is almost always extremely busy. People tend to think he can be a bit mean but he's just extremely forward; no bs. I've been a employee and a customer, and he always puts he customer first but he will always stand by his people. The coffee Is amazing, his fresh squeeze OJ is heaven. The bagels are fluffy and delicious, always. His hot sandwiches and grill are the best around. Nothing gets better then here for breakfast or lunch. Percilla has worked there since I was a kid and she is the nicest lady I have ever met. Nothing gets better then bobs bagels. Horrible service. Average tasting bagels and not very clean. Waited in there for 30 minutes. Took at least 10 minutes for someone to even acknowledge me at the register. Not only are they short staffed but they are incredibly unorganized. One person is doing 20 things while others are doing meaningless tasks, and it seemed like there was only 1 person actually tending to the bagels. They need to get rid of the online purchases because they can't handle it, up their staff, and clean the place up a bit. Will not be going back!! read more

Unsanitary is the primary reason for one-star. I can't believe the health inspector hasn't straightened this place out. It's gross what goes on if you watch for a few minutes. The inability to get orders correct and the hostile owner and general treatment of customers as necessary evils are all secondary. Based on visits over the course of a year I was regularly seein staff wear latex gloves that they do not change despite touching dirty things and themselves. They count change and handle cash with the same gloves they then go make the next order bagel with. They touch everything in the store, including their noses and wipe sweat from their heads with the gloves they grab your bagel with. I thought it was just a training issue, but when I asked the owner about it he got visibly angry as if others had brought this up before and he was sick of hearing it. He growled something about the cost of gloves and it being stupid to even mention the problem. It is just frankly disgusting. Aside from the health hazard there is the bizarre requirement that before signing your credit card receipt you have to literally circle the total basically acknowledging it is correct. I suspect customers were getting over charged so often the owner was tired of arguments with customers who later noticed and wanted refunds so he came up with this brilliant workaround. There are other weird thins like this but there's no point in listing them all. Bottom line is you usually just leave aggravated and sorry you gave them another try. The overall vibe is awful and not at all like the other businesses in town. It's unfortunate because the bagels are actually good. read more

I have paid 4 different prices for the same order on different days. These people are slow, RUDE and seem to make up their own prices depending on how they feel at that given time. I come in evey morning ( reluctantly) to get my same order, I pay a different price every morning. What kind of Business are these people running? I walked in this morning to 4 employees chatting it up as a line formed, I waited patiently as they enjoyed their time....5 minutes pass and i am greeted by this womans blank, lifless stare. I ask her what the price is for my cream cheese, she says 1.52... I got the same size cream cheese yesterday for 1.20...but okay... I was in town for 3 days and each day we stopped in to get breakfast. If nothing else they are consistent! Consistently miserable and Consistently slow!! This morning as I was leaving town I stopped to grab coffee and a bite to eat. 3 people behind the counter and about 6 customers. All 3 people looked absolutely miserable as if they were held at gunpoint to go to work, NO ONE SMILES IN THERE OR SAYS GOOD MORNING!! I think they may be severly under paid. The gentleman was ringing up and I stood behind the paying customer. After he rung the guy up, he looked at me, closed the register and walked away. I stood there WAITING about 10 minutes to pay for a coffee n a muffin. I finally ran out of patience and asked if I could JUST PAY!! No one said Sorry for the ridiculous wait for no apparent reason. She just rang it up n took my money like I OWED HER A FAVOR.. A guy standing next to me said "and I called my order in and still have to wait"....its not even like the prices are reasonable. There is no sense of urgency albeit 6 people or 20 people! This is the last time I will be giving them a single red cent of my money.. perhaps everyone else should rethink this place as well and go the extra mile to pay fair prices for service with a smile because this place is JUST HORRIBLE!!! read more

I've been a patron for 20 years. 2016 staff is the worst, they do not listen, they get your order wrong, they get mad when they've given you Swiss cheese on your bagel instead of cream cheese, attitude when you ask for a softer bagel that's not hard as a rock . . . Definitely did not ask for attitude and bitchiness with my bagel order that I'm paying for and I did not feel that spiking my bagel as hard as she could into the garbage was appropriate behavior. This is referencing the middle aged Hispanic woman behind the counter. Needs to be fired. The younger gentleman that's been there for years is great though. I was the only customer in there, yet it took 5 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me and take my order. That's not even the worst part....the guy who finally took my order had been counting money, wearing the same disgusting, sweaty latex gloves that he wore when he made my bagel. Last time I came here this place totally scammed me, whenever I come in here it's always at the end of my overnight tour as a paramedic so I never really pay much attention to the prices, I just want to get my food and get home asap. Last time I was here however I ordered a breakfast sandwich, a sausage patty on the side for a treat for my dog, and also got a large bottle of simply lemonade. The total came to almost $16. I said to the cashier that that couldn't possibly be right. She got very irritated and called over a colleague to re-enter my items into the register. This time I watched the prices as she entered them because they were not written anywhere for me to see. The breakfast sandwich was $4 and some cents, the juice $5 and some cents, and the sausage was $1.50. So I did the math. Even being generous to the store and assuming the unknown cents were on the high side, say $4.75 for sandwich and $5.75 for juice that comes out to $12 even. The grand total was still almost $16. This means they charged me approximately a 30% sales tax. I don't know how many other people they are doing this to but it seems like the register is set up to do this automatically. I will not be coming back to this bagel store and if you read this review and decide to go anyways I recommend keeping an eye on the prices and total you are being charged. read more
