Their bagels are always fresh. Their eggs are always made perfectly to order. Sometimes they suffer the "teenager effect" with some of their younger less attentive staff members. (For example, Mayo instead of mustard) Outside of that, the line outside the door is worth the wait. They move the line pretty good too. They have one middle aged employee who can be a bit rude. She is always friendly to the regulars she recognizes and dismissive to others, including regulars I suppose she doesn't recognize. Pete's has very good bagels. I like that I can call in my order and pick it up on my way to the train. One time my toasted bagel was over cooked. They made it again but acted like the burned bagel was normal- told me one toaster cooks darker than the other. Now I ask for " lightly toasted", and have had no issues. My first complaint is the customer service, most specifically an older woman, heavier set, with shoulder length brown hair who's been there ever since I can remember. This woman has such a miserable attitude, is extremely nasty to customers like she can't be bothered. If she doesn't like her job (which she's had for at least the past 20 years) she should find another. Secondly, the food. The bagels aren't bad but the cream cheese/butter is always carelessly spread. Just a big glop either in the center or on one side of the bagel. The egg sandwiches - don't even bother. One time my husband discovered half way through eating that his eggs had a grey color to them & later got sick. Aside from that your cheese will never be melted. I can't say much about the food as I only ever get egg sandwiches here but they are always good. It's the service that I have a real problem with. I want to make it clear that not every employee is like this but a few are, in particular the older woman who's about in her 40s with brown hair and light brown highlights is extremely rude. I been coming here for lunch for the last 3 years now. Except for Pete the owner, his wife, a teenage girl (I believe is their daughter) and Ashley. All their counter staff are either stuck up, lazy, or just don't give a damn. The only reason I have been going back is because the food was good and it is close. A+++ for Petes Bagels! Their bagels are reliably fresh, soft, and just overall outrageously good. I typically order an egg white wrap with turkey and cheddar cheese and it's by far the best wrap of any place I've ever had that same order. The line can be long at times but if you have an easy order you're usually in and out in 10-15 minutes. They also let you call ahead which is very convenient if you're in a hurry. My favorite deli! I use to live right around the corner, but now I don't :((( They're bagels are great. Good consistency and they put a lot of seeds on them which I love. Their egg sandwiches are pretty inexpensive and comes with a small coffee during the week. I like their coffee as well- hot and iced. I was in there so often, that they know my name now. They know my friends and family. It feels good when you get to know the workers there. Pete is friendly and always says hello. Some of the workers should smile a little more, but what are ya gunna do? They hire a lot of younger kids too...I think they just need help. They keep posting about Help Wanted. They have a $5 card limit, but after awhile they don't even bother anymore. Not sure if it's because it's me and I'm always in there, or they just gave up. They don't really enforce it anymore. Second time here, worst than the first. Don't know what the appeal is here. The bagels are gross the service is bad it's dark and dingy, stacks of water bitters and Gatorade are a potential fire hazard. What's making me post this today is just how dirty it is. The garbage is disgusting, tables not cleaned, condiments old and rancid and The best part when I was grabbing a drink from the refrigerator it was dirty and gross with dead flies.
