Only local place I could find to get a motorcycle inspection. Completed in reasonable time, and even called after business hours to tell me I could pick it up. Transferring from NY to MD, and was trying to get an inspection. Tried this place, because it was the nearest and they told me that they can see my car the next day... i had made the worst decision! I left my car early (9am) the next day for a MD state inspection, didn't get any updates throughout the day. I called 3pm, 5pm, 6pm and every time they said that they were still working on it and would get back to me. Worried (their shop close at 6pm), i asked if i'll be able to get my car that night. They said they'll call me. I didn't get called until 7:15pm. They reported that i need new rear brakes and rotors, and that they wouldn't get the parts until next week monday/ tuesday. They charged me 100$ for state inspection. I left my car on a monday night, called every single day late at night 5pm until i got my car back on Thursday night. They don't give updates on your car unless you call them to ask for it. I was also asking for a quote / estimate everyday , but they were unable to provide one stating that they were waiting for the right brake/rotor parts to come by. Fishy fishy! At my last car checkup in a chevy dealership ,I previously got an estimate of 500$ for repairs. I researched internet also and it said that it might cost 400-750$ for getting new rear brakes and 4 rotors. So to my surprise, they charged me 1,400-1,500$ for the rear brakes and rotors!!! Such a big ripoff! I should have seen the reviews here first before going to them. It also took them 3 whole freaking days to get my car sorted out. They didn't give me an estimate timeframe. It is also equivalent to 3 off days i have to take away from work because i didn't have my car with me! I never would have gone to them if I wasn't in a hurry to get my registration fixed here in MD! read more

Don't believe the bad reviews. My 2007 Honda Ridgeline had an exhaust leak. Took it to the dealer who told me I needed the entire exhaust replaced. The dealer's solution was way too expensive and didn't make sense on a 14 year old truck with 170,000 miles. Rick has all the equipment and know how for exhaust repair rather than replacement. He only replaced the section that was beyond repair and worked with my existing exhaust which was serviceable. The price was reasonable and much cheaper than the dealer's estimate. Now runs nice and quiet like nothing happened. Communication was good. He gave me a quote for labor and stuck with it even though the job turned out to be more challenging than anticipated. If you want an old school mechanic who knows what he is doing, I would recommend Hampstead Performance. read more

Went there with a flat tire and had a new tire installed on a Friday. Driving to work the following Monday, when I got up around 60mph, my whole car started to shake. I went back and was told that when they balanced my new tire, they noticed my rim was bent. When I originally picked up the car no one told me about the bent rim. With out even looking at it a second time, I was told the only option is to buy a new rim. I have just moved to the area and was hoping to find a reliable local place. read more

On Nov 02, 2018 I took my 1973 Mustang Mach 1 to Hampstead performance. I had a knock in the engine and they determined the rod bearings were bad. We decided to do a complete rebuild of the engine. Rick, the owner, removed the engine and took it to Carol Morris to have the machine work done. Carol Morris did a heck of a job. He machined the entire block, bored out 0.0200 over, machined the heads and replaced some studs in the heads to accept a hydraulic roller cam. The engine was back at Hampstead performance on Dec 03, 2018.. However Rick had to assemble the engine. This is where the problem started. Rick said he was going to work on the engine on a weekend when no one was around to bother him. That was fine except that he never did any work on the weekend. I was stopping in there every week or more often to see if any progress was made. Very little work was done over several weeks. I kept track of the progress and 4 weeks went by with nothing at all was done. I was getting irritated and asked Rick if I could paint the block because by this time he finally had it together but still on the engine stand. He let me do that and still very little work was done. Several times I practically was begging Rick to finish my car. I even asked him one time to let one of the mechanics finish putting it in the car. Rick said no he was going to do it. Finally he had the car running by March 5 2019. This was 3 months from when the engine block was returned to Hampstead performance and 4 months since I took the car to Hampstead performance. There was extra work after the car was running such as a new carburetor. They had problems with the intake manifold gasket but I believe it was due to Rick not using the recommended gasket. Even though the engine was completely rebuilt and a new carburetor, the price of $8500.00 was outrageous. I believe it was at least $1000.00 too high. I suggest everyone get a written estimate before having any work done or better yet go to someone else. I will never take anything there again. read more

They are the biggest ripoff mechanics in the entire area! My girlfriend took her vehicle there after it was having intermittent issues starting. I was out of town at the time. According to this auto repair place, it only took them 10 minutes to determine that the problem was faulty leads to the battery. Their repair was to replace the leads as well as replace the battery, which they claimed was nearly dead. That's all well and good, assuming it's true about the battery life, but they ended up charging my girlfriend $485 for all of this!!! That's simply outrageous! When I got back home and she told me about it, I couldn't believe it so I called them and asked them to explain and itemize the bill. They flat out refused to do so and when I asked to speak to the owner, the guy on the phone said he was the owner. Wow, what a rude guy. It really angers me that they put in the absolute cheapest battery that you can buy and replacing the leads should've only cost a few dollars in materials and labor. All together this should've been a $150 repair max, including the cost of that cheapo battery. They are scam artists who apparently jack up their auto repair prices on women who they think don't know any better and then when they're questioned about it, they refuse to answer any questions. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable auto repair center instead of going to these crooks. read more
