There is tons of free street parking available for the park's visitors. One of the park's sections runs right up to people's backyards. The park is situated in a low-lying ravine. You either have to take stairs or walk down a semi step hill. One section of the park has a small stream that runs along it and is located between houses. It has a few picnic tables, some green space and trail that goes through it. The main section of the park has lots of green space. There is a chain link back stop on the field that can be used for kickball, softball and baseball games. This park is perfect for kit flying, tossing a frisbee, playing catch, or having a picnic. You will find wooden glider swings around the park as well as picnic tables and benches. There is also a decent playground with a metal spiral slide, a wooden play structure with monkey bars, slides and bridges, a 4-way see saw, a bank of traditional/toddler swings, and a tire swing. This is a decent park that is adequately maintained, but it starting to show its age a bit. This is a low key park that is worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood. I think it needs a little maintenance and upgrades, but still a decent option to spend a few hours.

Old growth trees coupled with a slow paced neighborhood make this a great option to spend a few relaxing hrs.

Taken from the chambleega website: Keswick Park Chamblee's largest park, covering more than 45 acres, with a neighborhood focus. Facilities Include: walking trails (that connect to the Mid city district) dog park a full-size adult softball field tee-ball field soccer field multi-purpose field two tennis court outdoor basketball court Our playground facilities are ADA accessible playgrounds. 3,500 square foot community building Keswick is a true neighborhood park, because we visited the entryway at the park sign and only saw a couple of fields, walking trial and a playground. It wasn't until we continued driving did we see the park expanding and reaching into different corners of the neighborhood. If I lived in the area i'd visit this park daily, and the fact that you can take a trail to the city is kinda awesome. Clean park with lots to do as well as a community building with restrooms makes Keswick Park a neighborhood park hidden to all but those who live here. Pay this hidden gem a visit.

Parking in general is very limited, so come early if possible. There is a small trail that digresses from the paved road - not sure if it's open for everyone. I'd love to explore if it is :) My favorite spots on this side of the trail are the resting spots offering plenty of shade. I'm thinking of packing a mini picnic for my next walk to enjoy this trail to the fullest.

As long as you drive past the parking lot though, you'll eventually see a bunch of cars parked along the road. It's pretty wide so you shouldn't feel unsafe getting out of your car while cars are driving by. Just make sure you're fully parked off the asphalt (like on the rocks/gravel) otherwise you can get a ticket.

I'm generally not in the mood to deal with the hordes at Piedmont Park, and John Howell Memorial Park is the perfect, low key solution. Here's a partial listing of all the ways I've taken advantage of it:: - Picnics. The grass is well kept and never gets too buggy. It's perfect for setting out a nice spread and not having too many uninvited beasts. There's a canopy of beautiful tall trees to provide shade and backrests. Waste receptacles are nearby. A couple of times, I've even seen people show up with their own picnic tables, chairs, and grills. - Absentminded meandering. There are brick pathways and other soft walkways that let you wander without worry, there's nothing to trip over and there's no places for nutjobs to hide. - Fierce frisbee. The field here is remarkably free of divots, bumps, and protruding abnormalities. I declare it an ankle-safe zone. I often run into other disc throwing enthusiasts and there's plenty of room for everyone [unless you're in one of those Ultimate Frisbee leagues]. - Grassy Bocce. Again, because of the relatively smooth surface and the wide playing area, it's perfect for a good game of bocce. There are sporadic tiny hills and mulch-covered spots you can incorporate into your game to make it more interesting. - Bubble Making. If you ever want to make massive bubbles all by yourself and then grow startled at the spontaneous presence of Children of the Corn, this is the place. I swear, the kids come out of nowhere and start trying to pop my bubbles. I'm like the Pied Piper up in this piece. - Making Myself Sick on The Insane Spinner Thing. The playground here is awesome. It's nothing like the playgrounds I grew up with. For one thing, the ground is covered in that rubber mulch stuff, making it incredibly delicious on your joints when you plummet from the monkey bars. It's also nice for jogging. There's the usual fare: swings, slides, jungle gym, but then they have a couple of sculptural, cool things that make you throw up. I don't know their names, but they involve spinning. - Volleyball in a Bikini, Almost Year-Round. They have a little beach volleyball court set up, complete with sand, sand bags, tall referee chairs, and almost naked people. It's pretty rad. I've even spotted a dude with a metal detector and arm floaties [not kidding] when the games are over. - Hanging Out With Well Behaved Dogs. People bring their unleashed dogs to play and I've never encountered a disobedient or annoying dog. I'm pretty sure the dogs that come here are way better than other dogs. Dog owners are courteous and always pick up after their dogs. There's several stations set up for dog owners, with complimentary waste bags. - Stuff I Can't Mention. + + + The only thing John Howell isn't really very good for? Boomerangs. But after 52 tries to dislodge our boomerang from the tree branch, we realized the soccer/softball field across the street is better equipped [and free of all foliage] to handle that. It's freely available on the weekends. John Howell isn't huge, by any means [something like 2 acres], but it's well planned out, well maintained, and relatively low-traffic. That's more than I can say for the entire city of Atlanta. I just want to kiss it.

My condo is a 7 min run from here, so I have no trouble. I personally love the 7 min jog to get here. Helps me warm up. This park is really really really small. You may get bored running here if you're a runner who loves scenery. I don't really care for it. But this park has a fun playground and a small outdoor gym (?). I've used it a few times. A lot of parents come here with their kids to hang out. So, it is a busy park area. Definitely family oriented. Quite pleased with Brookhaven so far.

There is a good bit of free parking on the street, directly in front of the park. There is also a parking lot next to the community center if the street spots are taken. I'm not sure about during the week, but be sure to use the restroom BEFORE coming to this park on the weekend. I'm not sure if there's a restroom in the community center, but if there is, it's closed and there's no restroom available outside, unless you walk into the establishments across the street. We've been coming out to celebrate a friend's birthday here for three years in a row and it gets better every year.

This park is ruled by your four legged buddies. We live right behind (or in front of, depending on your perspective) the park, and on a daily basis, at all hours of the day, dogs and owners can be seen running about. In addition to pet wonderland, sports of all kinds are played here, from softball to flag football. At the edges of the park at Peachtree Hills avenue, there's a couple of tennis courts, and to the left, there's also a little rec center. This is a park that thrives on activity If you're not really into the sports options or four legged friends, there is a community garden, also along Peachtree hills ave, and if you have children, they also have benefit at this park with a children's play area, swing sets and the like. What I like about the park is the very active community behind it with the friends of Peachtree hills park. From community BBQs to goat petting, and all things in between. Parking has never been an issue with us, because we literally just walk to the park from our apartment, but there is street parking available, and a very small lot. There is a small trail that meanders over and along a small creek. While the park trail officially continues on in a loop, it unofficially branches off near the fence and goes onto the property of a nearby apartment. I like this park, get tremendous value out of it with dog watching, and come here whenever I can. Is it worth driving out of the way to visit this park? Nope, I don't think so, but if you live closeish, I think this may be a good place for you to spend a weekend.

I even saw a baseball field. I would just stay vigilant because there's a lot of bike riders who go fast on the walkways, so I wouldn't suggest wearing noise cancelling earphones.
