I went to Hammond Park to attend an Open House in the Circle building for College at Cumberland. This college will be holding classes in this building each semester. They have a partnership with Landmark College offering online courses for Neurodivergent Students. There is a lot of support from tutoring, to counselor support, and an opportunity to take a Culinary course. Check out the pictures and get in touch with them. Tennis and pickleball lovers-- This place is really popular. Basically every night the courts are filled with regulars playing on ~6 different pickleball and a couple tennis courts. The facilities are clean, FREE, there's plenty of parking, and the people are nice! There are also well kept soccer fields and basketball courts. It's a very well lit public park, and I feel safe walking around alone at night. read more

Not a bad park right there at the King and Queen building area. Close to exit 26 off of I-285. The soccer fields are super short turf, which makes the ball move pretty quickly. Especially if it rained. The turf could definitely use a replacement. You do have lights, which is a nice thing. They have a few basketball courts that are really popular for pickup games. If you play tennis, this place has you covered as well! It looks like this place is a popular place to play a league or just a quick pickup for either Tennis or Basketball. You also have a gymnastics building with a new parking lot. read more

when you turn in, the sign for the park will read "hammond park & gymnasium" I don't understand how this park has such good ratings. this is the smallest park I've ever seen. you would think that a park in such a nice area like dunwoody/sandy springs would be a little nicer than those in gwinnett county. I was wrong to assume. I've been to parks in the terrible parts of gwinnett that look wayy better than this park. in addition, this park is way too small. no, I'm not going to be participating in activities in every part of the park in a visit..BUT I would like the option to do so. there aren't much options here. within less than 15 minutes, I've already walked around the entire park. like I said..really small park. from the short walk, I noticed there were: + lots of trees; which can be great for shade when it comes to those sunny days + the playground area fenced off + cement walk path + there are several metal benches all around the park + 2 basketball courts w/ 2 hoops each + 1 soccer field; this was the biggest amenity in the whole park + 1 tennis court; there were about 4-5 nets + gymnasium; I saw papers that mention that they offer gymnastic classes. I also saw some trophies on display towards the back wall before I end this review, I must mention one thing that ticked me off. upon my visits, I noticed the people who come this park are quite aggressive in the parking lot. when I was reversing (AND half way out), cars will try to play chicken with you and rush through. if I had a crappy car, I'd totally reverse quickly into them. overall, I give this place 1 star. maybe I'm just a harsh rater..but there's absolutely nothing that draws me to this park. read more

I love this park. It's so convenient to get to, and it's never that busy (although I haven't been here during the summer). They have 2 different playgrounds with tons of variety in equipment. They have lots of swings, including baby swings, and a handicapped swing (I had never seen this before!). There is a covered pavilion in case you want to have a little gathering or BBQ. There is also a bunch of tennis courts, a soccer field, a baseball field, and other various things. Next to the park is the Hammond Gymnastics Center which is also nice. The only thing I am taking away a star for is the parking. The lots aren't that large and sometimes it is hard to find a spot. read more

PRESCHOOL GYMNASTICS REVIEW: (ZERO STARS) NOTE: there was no other place to write a view for the gymnastics! The park is great... read on for the gymnastics review: I was really shocked how many positive reviews there were... and part of me has a feeling why. Nothing against these parents, but most either leave or sit on the bleachers and don't watch their child or pay attention. I get it, they want some free time, but their kids are usually the ones being naughty and the coach can't control them... with that said... it's NOT THE PARENTS FAULT SO PLEASE DONT THINK THAT!! First: I know EVERYONE says this but I rarely write reviews let alone negative ones, but this is just.... too much to stay silent! I wanted other parents to know what they are walking into!!!!! Here goes... You get what you pay for: it's extremely cheap for 10 classes. BUT what I found is that it's VERY UNSAFE!!!! 10 kids to a class with only one coach. She can't keep track of them OR most importantly spot them. Gymnastics is a dangerous sport. At 3-4 years old these kids are walking on balance beams, ,climbing on bars, swinging on bars with a strange elevated block mat under that they could roll right off of. There are metal bolts --which a little girl just fracker her head open just last class-- overall its dangerous and when the coach can't be there and parents are watching to tell their child to wait their turn, kids WILL GET HURT. They could very easily break a bone or worse. I've never felt so uncomfortable watching my three year old climbing up a wall with no one spotting her. If she slipped and fell backward she could've severely injured her back. I immediately asked the office for a refund and they told me sorry I was out my money. It's not even about the money, it's about the safety. And they didn't care. When that child cracked her head open and needed stitches the coach just handed her over to the mom and ignored the issue. The office didn't give her bandages or ANYTHING. Very appalling and disappointing. I just can't believe the city of Sandy Springs would allow this to happen! I loved the idea they offer these classes at an affordable price, but once in I witnessed how things were handled I realized that paying the extra is 100% the safety, service, and quality of lessons you receive. I in no way want my daughter to be an Olympic gymnast. I just want her to learn the basics while getting exercise and spending time with other kids. So for things to be this dangerous, when I'm not planning to crack down on her to make her a gold medalist, seems silly. I've given it two tries, I MIGHT even try one more time--threes a charm or three strikes you're out kind of thing--but if things haven't changed I'll just chalk this up as a loss. I'd end up paying more in ER costs anyway. In Summary, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, think before enrolling your little on in this class. I'm not a helicopter parent but during this 45 minute class, I wanted to be "that parent" and leap over the short wall to help these kids. :( I hope this was helpful to everyone. read more

After having driven past this park many times, I finally took my 1 year old one beautiful fall morning. Even though the park seemed pretty empty, the small parking lot on Glenridge was pretty full, leading me to believe that there's a lot more park entertaining people than the area that can be seen from Glenridge and Hammond. We headed to the brown tree-themed playground first. It's fully fenced in, seemingly to prevent kids from climbing and jumping from the concrete onto the rubber play surface. The equipment was clean and in good condition. Then we checked out the swings. The bucket swings are at a higher height than I'm used to, which is nice when you're pushing your little one, so that you don't have to squat or bend over when pushing. Afterwards, we headed to the large blue playground area closest to the corner, past the sand pit area, past the building that appears to be available fore meetings, and past the main picnic area. While exploring the blue playground, I found a sticker that said it's for 2-5-year-olds (apparently the tree themed one is for 5-12-year-olds). There are also tennis courts, basketball courts, and a soccer field, as well as some paved and some unpaved walking areas. Also, we were a little put off by the amount of trash in the playground- bottle caps, cigarette butts.... it's a public park, it's understandable, but maybe a little more cleaning would be helpful. read more

Found this cool park when we were in the area and needed a place for our busy boy to run off some energy before dinner. We liked that it has two different playgrounds: one for 5-12 year olds, and one for younger kids. And it was nice to have the bathrooms pretty close by. There's tennis court on the other side of the park so it's nice for the grown-ups to play their sports, too. Very cool find! read more

1st visit. Met my tennis partners for practice on the public tennis courts on a Tues evening after dark. There are 4 courts in decent condition - will likely need repairs to minor issues with the court surfaces. Lighting is ok, but a few panels need to be replaced on a some courts. Despite minor issues, our team was able to conduct a good practice that was FREE of charge. Adjacent to the tennis courts I noticed basketball courts and a soccer field. Parking was free and readily available. Good resource for the community. read more

This park is great! Easy access to 400. The playset at the top of the hill is excellent for most children. There are picnic tables and power outlets available as well. The playset that is near the parking lot is wheel chair accessible and it has rubber ground covering for safety. Give this place a try if in the area. read more

This is a nice, little park. There are a couple jungle gyms for kids to play on and a few shaded picnic tables. There are also a couple of tennis and basketball courts, and also a nice soccer field. There isn't too much room to have a picnic or anything like that. I would consider this more of a sports park. I've been to the park several times during lunch, and there are always people working out or families playing. It's really close to GA-400, and there's always plenty of parking. read more

Very poorly run. I had been trying to book a birthday party at the gymnastics studio for over a month. I was told over and over (after calling a ton of times with no one answering the phone), to wait until Nov 22 to book the party, when the schedule would be ready for winter. I call ON the 22nd only to be told to wait until that following, Monday. So I did. And again, was not able to book the day and time I needed bc it wasn't "available for booking" yet. Not because someone had taken the slot, but because the schedule had not been posted yet (the lady was STILL trying to get it ready). So I wait and wait for the second that it became available for me to book. The lady assured me that time slot was available when I'd hung up the phone. Why she couldn't just book it over the phone is beyond me, but the fact that I was literally checking out with the time slot in my cart, it says it's full. I call back and she tells me someone had taken it (in the two minutes it took me to check out). It's just not a very well run place and if the coaches and studio is anything like how they are run, I'm glad we're going to go a different direction for my daughters party. Oh well. read more
