I love what they did with this playground--especially the small, little track in back. This park spans 50 acres and is more of a recreation complex. There are two entrances and the park's drive has somewhat of a U-shape. It has a couple of baseball fields, a tennis complex with a bunch of courts, and a couple of soccer fields. They are all very nice, but they are not opened to the public and are locked to keep people out. You need a permit to use the baseball and soccer fields. The tennis courts are managed through the tennis complex on site. As an added bonus most of the courts and fields are lighted for night play. You will find an ample amount of parking available here, spread between lots all throughout the park. The park also features a nice and extensive trail system for bikers, walkers and joggers. You will find a little green space to toss a ball around or have a picnic. There are also gliders swings and benches available to sit and enjoy. There are dog clean up stations all over the park and they have a monument of sorts in memorial of the 8 people killed in the 2021 anti-asian spa shootings. The memorial features a nice golden statue of an asian woman sitting down. The park has a huge shelter that is available to rent. The shelter has a bunch of picnic tables under it and a grill just outside of it. The park has two playground area. The smaller one is by the baseball fields. It has a small play structure with monkey bars and a slide. This play area also has toddler swings. The other playground, on the other side of the park, is much larger. There is where you will find wood balance beams, saucer swings, a large net structure, slides, and a net climber. There are bathroom facilities near both play areas, with the larger, and in my opinion better one being on the side with the larger playground. The park is a nice place to hold local events the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival, food truck Wednesdays in the summer, and Light Up Brookhaven in the winter is held here. I like this playground. It is very well maintained. However, much of its amenities are private and require a permit. Most of the park's visitors that I saw during my visit were taking advantage of the park's trails. There were no kids on the play ground. Being a hot weekday may have something to do with that. I do feel this is a destination park unless you are attending an event here. read more

Took my daughter here, it's a pretty big park. We did find some glass in certain areas. The soccer field is amazing but locked up. We are looking for a nice lush place where my daughter could play in the grass as she's learning to walk, but we really couldn't find anything that was more than a very tiny area. It was a beautiful day and it's located in nice area. I do think they need better grass, but maybe it's closer to winter and it'll get better? I don't know though because the soccer field looked amazing and lush and green. We'll probably come back here again, they have tennis courts, which look really nice and a lot of other areas too, which we may explore, but I was a little put off by the glass and the random gloves and clothing and litter in certain areas. read more

I Love this park. Wonderful walking trails, convenient location, and great events throughout the year such as The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival. In addition to multi-use fields and trails, this park houses a tennis center with lighted hard courts. Blackburn Park is in Brookhaven, GA, a suburb of Metro Atlanta. This is a great place for both people and dog walking. The walk around the park is roughly 1.4 miles. There is plenty of free parking. In addition to large fields for playing and relaxing, the park also contains multiple playgrounds, soccer fields, softball fields, tennis courts and a large pavilion. There are usually a number of people here, but they are largely clustered around the various game fields. This leaves plenty of room on the park trails. Playground: There are two playgrounds in the park. The larger playground is at the northern end of the park, near the pavilion. There is a much smaller playground at the southern end of the park near the softball fields. Restrooms: There are at least two sets of bathrooms at the park, one each near the playgrounds. Dog-friendliness: Definitely a place to walk your dog, but not a specific fenced in dog park. So you will need to keep your dog on a leash and definitely will need to clean up after your dog does his/her business. Picnic area: There is a large picnic area under the pavilion. There is also a picnic table near the soccer fields. There are plenty of benches and open fields throughout the park. read more

Located in the heart of Brookhaven this nearly 50 acres park features baseball fields and tennis courts along with a community garden. It's sandwiched between Ashford Dunwoody and Johnson Ferry Rd near various businesses and shopping strips. Some of the nearby businesses includes McDonald's, Kroger, Starbucks, Dollar Tree, Jersey Mike and UPS Store. It's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and because of its ease of access location it makes for a nice place to take a leisurely walk or a spontaneous afternoon picnic. This is one of the best park around here. There are always event at the park. Food trucks and live music every Wed nights. Great place to bring your family and pets over to chill. There are also tennis courts which always full with people. The park has a lot parking spots. The trail gets quite dirty due to fall leaves and branches, it needs a clean up. Well look at this! Here's Blackburn Park, a place i've driven by a handful of times but I finally stopped here, less for the park, and more for a controversy at the park. Taken from their website, Blackburn Park is part of the Brookhaven park system of 13 parks, along with 332 acres of park land (of which Blackburn park takes about 50 of those acres). Things to do at blackburn park range from the following: Baseball Diamond Bathrooms Community Garden Greenspace Mixed-Use Field Parking Lot Paved Walking Path Picnic Shelter Playground Sidewalk exiting the park Tennis Court Paved and natural soil Trails Pagoda for rent I was quite surprised with size of the park. Every turn along the trail, there was something a little new, between multi use fields, to a garden. There's a few parking lots on the park, although on the weekend afternoon that we went, it really wasn't busy at either lot. You may have heard about the park because of the controversy I hinted at, in the form of the comfort woman statue, which is a long history between South Korea and Japan. I wont go into the history of the comfort woman, but the statue explains a greatly the symbolism of the statue, which is expertly done. The statue can be found at the largest lot closest to Ashford-Dunwoody road if you're curious. I like this park, and if I lived closer, i'd certainly have my bike or my cross trainers tearing up these trails on a regular basis. Would I go out of the way for this park? Well, if you have an interest in the monument, you might. For the park itself? I think there are better parks. With that said, another solid showing for this Brookhaven park. If you're close and up for some exercise, Blackburn park has you covered. read more

Blackburn Park has so much to offer! Playground, pavilion with picnic benches, fields, tennis courts, walking trails, grassy areas and more. There is plenty of parking. There's a lot near the playground and a bigger lot by the soccer fields. I walk with a friend here regularly! Great option for socially distanced hangouts. In summers past, they've had food truck and live music on Wednesday nights. Hopefully that'll be able to resume soon! read more

As far as Atlanta parks go, I wouldn't go out of your way to come here. DOES NOT FEEL LIKE A PARK. It's somewhat of an odd setup, being way too close to the road, parking lot with dumpsters and a very short trail, it does not feel like you are at a park or in nature. It's just not a good looking park. The landscaping is also really lacking, not really any flowers here, just fields of dying grass with huge patches of dirt. A COUPLE FIELDS. There are a couple fields here where you could play badminton, minimized soccer, tennis or whatever else you prefer. The tennis center looked a little run down though. FENCES EVERYWHERE. There are fences next to the trail throughout most of the park, making the whole experience a little weird. Behind the fence is a bit of nature and you can see somebody's back yard right there. read more

Quite frankly I'm baffled that this park has subpar reviews because I find it to be a gem! I am a regular user of the dog park in the back of the larger park, and it is great! There is ample space for all of the dogs to roam and parking is a breeze there. I might be a little biased as my other comparison is piedmont park. Although I've only spent most of my time at the dog park, there are a ton of other areas including an amazing skate park, open areas (that I've used for kickball practice), and plenty of space for families and kids to take a long stroll on a nice Atlanta day. read more

I play tennis at the Blackburn Tennis Center fairly regularly, it's where I have my group lessons for my team. On the "pro" side...they have tons of courts, so there's usually some availability, SOMEWHERE. The staff is friendly and they're stock of tennis apparel, etc. is decent. They have fans available to dry courts if it rains and lots of squeegees. But I've got some "cons". Many of their courts are in desperate need of resurfacing-- lots of cracks. The location isn't exactly convenient unless you live in this specific area- usually takes 45 mins from Midtown. And their prices (at least for teams) are some of the most expensive among all the tennis centers in Atlanta. Local police regularly ticket here if you are parallel parked in the wrong direction. Also, tournaments are a complete cluster here, due to the fact that their club house area is so small. Overall I don't mind playing tennis here, but it's definitely NOT my first choice when it comes to tennis facilities. read more

I really enjoy the walking trail at Blackburn Park. I am not exactly a nature loving gal; I enjoy being outside but creatures big and small freak me out. So, this park is perfect for me. It is close to civilization, but expansive enough to where you feel like you are enjoying some fresh air. We also like to attend the food truck festival they have on Wednesdays during the summer months. It seems well maintained and a great place to bring a dog. The tennis courts also appear to be on the nicer side. Blackburn Park is absolutely beautiful in the fall. read more

Please take note, I am posting this review in regards to their tennis facility. "Meh. I've experienced better." Although I really want to love this facility (as I would yearn to love any and every tennis facility), the courts are seriously lacking and need to be redone. Don't get me wrong, I am certain you could go to your apartment's courts that were created in the early 80's and find its courts are in worse condition, but this is a club you have to pay to play at. With that, I don't want to be playing an opponent on a court that has cracks in it, ya know?!? They do have a pro shop that includes tennis apparel here, and they do take reservations which is a plus. They have 18 courts, ball machine rental, in addition to various academies and camps where you can either learn the (wonderful) game, or improve. Lastly, take my review with a grain of salt... I play high tournament level tennis and often play women who played in college. These courts would be just fine for fun or for lessons, just not for a 3 set match. Until they re-do their courts, I have to opt for other courts. read more

My most recent visit to this park was last weekend. It's a lovely park. I'm a fan. The park is well maintained and there are plenty of parking spots available. This park is pet friendly and has multiple areas for group games and lounging. I didn't see a children's park area but if you're looking to take a peaceful walk or come here with your dog, this park will serve you well. They have food trucks every Wednesday filled with live music and great food. My friends especially like the King Pop popsicle ice cream. I like their Thai Tea flavored ice cream. Get a mat and come to the oak with your friends or family to enjoy the night. It's very relaxing and it's just feels being outdoors. You should Park in the Kroger/Le Nail Salon shopping center and walk over to the park. read more

Came here for my mother-in-law's company function and it was such a nice park in a nice area. The trails we saw are paved so if you're looking for actual trails to hike on, I'd check out somewhere else. We saw a HUGE tennis complex and a smaller tennis court on the other side of it. Looking forward to bringing our dogs back and having a picnic. I did not see any restrooms while there, but we didn't exactly go exploring the whole park--so they may be tucked away somewhere. read more

Playground is lame. Appears to be designed by an adult who doesn't have kids. Otherwise the park grounds were very clean and kept up well.

Head here almost every weekday afternoon for my daily walk. Conveniently located close to home, lots of parking, a path foundation trail, level ground for the most part except for 1-2 steep climbs, and an overall average difficulty - lots of greenery makes for cooler walks especially when the temps are lower. There are tennis courts and other game grounds attached to it but none that I've ever used - all look in great condition though. There's also a kiddy play area on one end of the park with restroom facilities. The good part is the prime location - close to many eateries and the strip mall opposite has a starbucks and publix as well. Easy access from many smaller neighborhoods makes it a local favorite. The food truck event is held here as well but have never made it so far. Heard its pretty good to check out though. read more

During high school cross country, we occasionally ran through this park on our long runs. However, they weren't the most entertaining runs. There is no lake in this park, and the trails only pass by a few soccer fields, park benches, and tennis courts. There isn't much shade either. Mostly, this park serves as a great place to kick the ball around either for a team, or with who ever else is out on the field looking for one more person. There is also a giant picnic area where camp kids from the YMCA come to have lunch and run around. read more

This park has good walking trails (gentle hills, paved paths) and plently of grass for frisbee/football etc. There is ample parking and a walking trail that makes it's way through the park. There is also a picnic area with tables (shaded) and a grill and a softball field. Solid park, a bit boring to walk through after the first time or two. read more

Great park! I have only been here twice and have had a good experience both times. I enjoyed the walking trail. Though it doesn't really go anywhere, but you can kind of choose your own path to take. The only thing that bothered me is all the development going on here. Seems like the walking paths lead to new apartments being built. Must we destroy parks too?! I went up the road tot the lake and that was awesome :) Parking was a plenty. There are also tennis courts here too. read more

I dig it. Great park to go for a walk. If you're familiar wih The Path, it winds through here and has some nice wooded, hilly areas.

I live across from Blackburn so I walk my dog here at least a couple times a week. It needs a lot of work done. They've made some improvements in the past couple years however it really isn't anything special. It would be great if they had a dog park because it doesn't have anywhere for dogs to run around so they must stay on a leash. The park just doesn't look well kept which is too bad because it has potential. read more

Blackburn is a nice park, it has a nice little walking trail, that is mostly shaded. There are also swings which are nice on a fall day. I heard food truck Wednesday's are awesome! I really wish the park had more festivals. read more
