There are so many inspectors in the area that finding a good one can be tricky. Luckily for me, Rob Travis and Hammond Inspection Services was recommended to me by a good friend who bought a house last year. Price wise the inspection costed $510 for a 1700 square ft house with a pool. To be honest, I didn't shop around for the best price but my real estate broker estimated that the inspection would be around $500 so I was more than satisfied with the price. Rob was very punctual, thorough, personable and honest. His report was very easy to understand and included a lot of helpful pictures. Before he left, he told us we could contact him anytime if we had any we had any questions, even if it was 6 months down the line. TL;DR: lack of professional expertise and responsibility. turn to someone else. not licensed, missed calling out critical visible issues that even I know. and refuse to be responsible for what's missed. I turned to Jon for inspection service per my agent's recommendation. At the time, I had little experience with home ownership and thought the inspection report was very detailed. I did not realize how many things were missed until I moved into my new home. Visible code violations were not mentioned at all. After heavily involved in many repair/upgrade projects, I went back to review the original inspection report again and found the report to be very superficial not helpful. Most of the line items on critical systems (water, gas, electrical, HVAC, roof, etc) are basically "X exists at Y location. we recommend consulting a specialized professional for details" what am I paying you for? the things that were missed during the inspection process ended up costing me close to $10K to address. to make things worse, when I reached out asking for an explanation on why visible issues are ignored, the responses I got were: "this is not our responsibility", "not sure what answer you're looking for" read more

Great experience with two home inspections by John and Melissa. First house fell through during escrow so we called them back for the house we ended up buying. I first googled what to ask when searching for someone to inspect your home and jotted down a bunch of questions. When I called around to 3 to 4 different companies, they either seemed annoyed by me or just had no clue how to field the questions. But Melissa was so helpful and thorough. John Hammond was there super early both times and had already taken the initiative to start checking the outside of both houses. He is so knowledgeable and if you ask him questions, he is great about educating you on many different aspects of a home. Their pricing was actually lower than the other companies I had called and they did an awesome job. Pricing is based on square footage so can't give you a number. I think it makes sense opposed to some companies that charge a flat rate regardless of the home size. They turn the report around in 24 hours and it's so in-depth with photos and all. If we ever decide to move I will definitely go with Hammond Inspection! read more

Buyers Beware This inspector is unreal. He is calling for issues that 95% of the time is wrong It caused us a lot of issues and after hiring various licensed professionals, we found out this fellow, John is not familiar with new codes. While their report did outline a number of items that needed attention, we were left disappointed because of one or two issues that cropped up soon after we moved to our new home. This company was referred to me by my realtor to use for the home inspection of the house I recently purchased. I called John and he was super friendly and easy to work with. We quickly set up an appointment with no difficulty. On the day of the inspection I showed up a little early, and John was already there and in the house working! I love people that are on time! John and his wife Melissa were both there. They were very nice and comfortable to be around. I liked that he walked me through everything when he was done, and answered all questions I had in detail. Within an hour or so after the inspection he emailed me a full report that had pictures of items that needed attention. John was recommended to us by Redfin. Stand-up guy and reasonable rate. He did the inspection for the condo that we now own. This guy was super-thorough, and even was on his knees at one point in time, making sure he didn't miss anything. His report was very clear and, overall, a great guy. Easy to converse and very well-liked. Only issue is that when I tried to email or text him some of my questions, I didn't get any responses. Let it be known that I did not call him, as I didn't want to interrupt anything at home. Luckily, my Redfin agent was able to reach him on a few things. Overall, still a good experience. If you are looking for exceptional inspection services, this is the place to go to! Melissa and John are hands down the best in the industry. It is increasingly difficult these days to find genuine people who are professional, honest, thorough, will stand behind their work, and aren't in it just for the money. I made the colossal mistake of using another Company to inspect a new home purchase that didn't even bother to check the HVAC units, and when called out on it they refused to come out to re-inspect. This was despite paying for their very expensive and "thorough" service. What a joke! That's when Melissa and John came into the picture - both of them took time out of their very busy schedules to personally inspect the home and document issues that the other company flat out refused to cover. Very bad service. He brought his seven-year-old son to inspect my house. My agent was concerned but he acting like it's ok. We trusted him because he is professional. But when I move in so many outlets not working, and the technician told me how dangerous is the electric issue which can kill me. I was so shock and read over his home inspection report. And he didn't find the issue at all. Now I have to pay $850 to fix. If anyone use lockbox, then there will have record. And there is no one after us. And the damage is old not new. On his report, he didn't say anything wrong with outlet. Outlet problem is old issue according to my technician. So he didn't find out the problem when he check. This is a late Yelp, but better late then never! I have never worked with a more professional inspector ever! John was recommended by my Realtor and we have already recommended him to others. He starts by taking pictures of the house in question, then inspects everything, and i mean everything: Roof, sub floor, electrical, attic space, crawlspace, outlets, etc. He points out what is wrong and what should be done before the purchase and also what is recommended after you move in, He's not afraid to get dirty to be thorough. He runs all faucets, checks all drains, tests the stove, oven and dishwasher. He walks around the exterior and checks the surrounding areas for cracks, drainage problems and potential hazards. Once complete, you will receive a detailed report including pictures. On the personal side, John was very friendly, joking around and easy to get along with. This is my first yelp review ... I signed up in order to rate John, who was recommended to us by our Redfin realtor. He inspected our 1940s fixer upper, accommodating my tight schedule since we were buying from out of state and in town only a few days. On inspection day I showed up on time to find that John and his associate John had been at the house almost an hour inspecting the exterior of the home. Throughout the inspection, they were professional and very personable but what blew me away was John's knowledge about every aspect of our vintage home -- and his willingness to share anything that would be helpful to us. He was truly our advocate. I walked away feeling empowered as a buyer and excited about the purchase -- this is not a small thing since the house will be a long-term project. When they got there they asked if we had any specific things we where concerned about and where very detailed about the inspection process. They started there inspection and had to be there two plus hours and went through everything you can think of in the house, from top to bottom and even under. Like another reviewer said, John was recommended to us by Redfin. We were very happy with John. For the home inspection, John was on time and extremely thorough. Things at our inspection got a little crazy since we had visiting family and then a random person from the neighborhood joining us for the inspection. John didn't let that bother him, which was very cool. Our inspection did find something pretty serious, dented ductwork w/ asbestos, and John was very good at explaining the problem as well as the required outcome. John offered to answer any follow up questions, which was really great of him. Even cooler was that John came back to the property for the final walk through to do a quick inspection of the duct work to make sure it was re-done correctly. If I had an option to add few more stars to this business I would definitely do that! We hired Hammond Inspection Services to inspect an investment property that we are buying. The house was built in 1908, therefore we wanted to find out as much information as possible about the problems it has and repairs it might need. John arrived to the appointment even earlier then scheduled time. He is a very nice and easy to talk to man, who is very passionate about what he does. Right from the start, he educated us about the type of the construction and characteristics of the house and gave us priceless ideas to consider during the remodeling process. John did a very detailed inspection of every part of the house, exterior and the yard.
