I asked if they checked my tires and my fluid levels and the guy andy said yes I said could you check it again -(bc I know they didn't do that or my tires) and my coolant was almost empty. He put coolant in it and charge me another eight dollars. They never looked at my tires or called that out. I told him that's ridiculous that they're charging me for coolant when it should've been part of my service and if the manager was here, none of this would be happening. He should've checked my coolant to begin with. I always come to this Valvoline and I'm very disappointed today.

Long story short and after reading all the 5-star reviews on YELP! I went in and spoke to "Mack", one of the 2 owners about my pride and joy. That was about a year ago, and I have to say, that this shop is one of [if not] the very best all around mechanical repair shop i have ever had the pleasure of doing business with in the 65+ years I've been driving every sort of automobile you can imagine. Mack and his brother Mike, and their crew have fulfilled my every need and are just the best in every sense of the word when it comes to everything automotive . . . I DO NOT EXAGERATE ! ! ! There is not enough room on this YELP page to even begin to describe what these people can and will do to effect any repair you need, or find the automobile of your dreams. Outstanding, Honest Service!…read more I can't say enough good things about A-1 Complete Auto Care in Guilford! I recently brought my car to Town Fair Tire in Wallingford for a slow leak in my front passenger side tire. They told me there had been a plug that came out and the tire couldn't be repaired. Not only had I never had a plug in that tire, but they also insisted I needed a brand new tire--and even suggested replacing all four, despite my car only having 26,000 miles. Wanting a second opinion, I brought my car to A-1 Complete Auto Care. They quickly identified the real issue: a nail in the tire. They confirmed there had been no previous plug and were able to patch the leak with no problem. Their honesty, professionalism, and straightforward service completely blew me away. Instead of trying to upsell me on tires I didn't need, they provided a simple, effective, and affordable fix. I couldn't be more grateful--and A-1 has absolutely earned my trust and future business! Highly recommend to anyone looking for reliable, no-nonsense auto care.

I thought I was going to need a brand new transmission that would cost half the value of my car, which gave me overwhelming anxiety. However, when I decided to pick up the phone, I greeted by their wonderful front desk staff, who offered me an appointment the next day. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted warmly and given reassurance that my vehicle was in good hands. They were even able to diagnose my car noises on the same day I brought it in! When I was called with the results of their diagnostic testing, I was given a sigh of relief as the noises were coming from the wheel bearing as opposed to an internal noise from the transmission. They also recommended doing a transmission tune-up which I gladly accepted as it had been more than 70,000 miles since my last one. Even though all they did was a transmission fluid exchange, my car runs just like new, without any slipping of the transmission! If this was a random transmission shop, they would have easily tried to sell me a brand new unnecessary transmission for thousands of dollars I didn't have while keeping the actual source of the noise hidden from me.
