Took it to Toyota last week for a routine service and told them we heard a funny noise coming from the car as we were driving. After examing the car, they had a diagnosis: we needed four new tires (approx $950) and a COMPLETE replacement of the ENTIRE exhaust system, as a pipe was somehow bent and impairing something else. That added up to another $2,300. We asked around, and from the high recommendations we received for Hammonasset Service Station, we took it there. Rich looked at the car right away. While our tire was disintegrating as we were traveling in the breakdown lane, we pulled off at the next exit. Since we had to travel with only the exposed rim for about 2 miles we thought we might have to check into a hotel for the night to fix the problem. Then (cue heavenly music!) we spotted D & S Auto Repair. When David heard about our problem and saw that, in fact the rim was destroyed, he volunteered that he had a trailer tire already mounted on the rim that he would sell us and mount for $100! This is one of the most gracious acts of kindness we have experienced and years of touring.
