Hammer's is a divey spot with great service. Our drinks were perfect while we played pinball, pool, and Keno. Our waitress was amazing, very personable, and thoughtful, she made the visit extra special. We ate before we came so we didn't order any food but I saw a plentiful Chef Salad go by that I would absolutely order in the future. Smoking is allowed in this establishment except for cigars but there is an outdoor patio where cigar smokers can go. There's a fairly large parking lot. read more

It is a dive bar in Hapeville with a lot going on. Don't come in with a lot of expectations, be surprised. There's a beach volleyball court, I've never seen anyone play, but it does add to a positive, fun vibe The food is bangin'. I had the peel'n'eat shrimp - And I ordered it because of what other patrons have said about it. They do it right, and it is delicious. Well cooked and not served too watery. The wings were also really good, if I hadn't been eating all day, I probably would have eaten more. I've been to Hammer's countless times... typically it's decent. Crystal is fantastic. The service from anyone else is generally bad but I've always liked the vibe so I've always considered that it comes with the territory. Friday night, I went with some friends around 11pm. We ordered and paid for some drinks, and sat at a table in the bar area to drink them. A server came by after we flagged her down, and one of my friends ordered some appetizers from the kitchen. We sat for about an hour, and no one ever came back to our table. The place was dead, so we felt like the food probably wasn't coming, at that point. We attempted to flag someone down again, unsuccessfully, and the lady at the bar was chatting with other customers across the bar, so, a bit irritated, we all decided to leave. To reiterate, we paid for absolutely everything that we consumed. We never received any food of any sort, and never got an update from the kitchen. We got up from the table and left. The waitresses all followed us out to our car screaming at us that we didn't pay for our food. They called their security guards and told them that we were walking out on a ticket. I calmly explained to them that we never received the food and had paid for all the drinks. The security guards clearly took our side immediately, but the waitresses were not having it and blocked our car. They wanted us to pay for the food that we had not received. I told them, just to be nice, that I would come in and speak with their manager if it deescalated the situation, so I did. The manager was rude AF. She came out hot, reeking of smoke and BO, and clearly had been drinking herself. She stated we had to pay for the food, to which I calmly stated that we would not, because we hadn't received it. When the security guards declined to hold me for her, she threatened to call the cops. I told her that was fine, she could do that, which is when she hatefully screamed in my face to "get the f out". Me, still trying to be diplomatic, told her that if she could produce the food, I would consider paying for it. She went to the back, and came back out seething with no food and told me to leave. I walked out with the waitresses and manager all screaming and yelling at us, and the security guards literally had to hold them back. All this over crappy service and no food. The entitlement it takes to feel like a customer should pay for something they did not receive after waiting an unreasonable amount of time with literally ZERO service is astounding. read more

I def enjoy coming here for the company, but the drink and food service is horrible. I've been twice, the first time after waiting 20 minutes and never being served, we left. We decided to give it a second chance because we wanted to check out the volleyball court, and it took a while to get a drink, and the volleyball court was reserved so we weren't really allowed to play. Apparently you need to reserve the space, and get a ball. Otherwise, the plus side, the drinks were good, and the atmosphere was fun! Lots of open seating that makes you feel like you are outside of Atlanta (could go without the cigarette smoke though). I love this eclectic place. The crowd tends to be very mixed and the wings are great. It's right near the delta museum (also, check that out)! But the drinks are good and affordable and they have a full bar. I try to stop in when I'm in town. Just what I needed after a hard day at work! Sooner crispy lemon pepper wings, ranch dressing and a double shot of honey Jack! Pros:. Very convenient parking, attentive waitress, wings were delicious, the drinks didn't taste watered down, the bathroom was cleaner than I expected and the window seat had a great view of the volleyball area and the breeze was perfect! It's very clear that this location is not professional at all. This was my second time there. The first time I thought that the reason why I was greeted and properly was because I did not have my ID when I asked for a drink. I completely understand that because every bar must ask for ID. But this was almost a year ago, what this part did not understand was this was the week of my birthday and I decided to come back and get a drink Just Me Myself and i. When I walked up to the bar I noticed that the bartender already gave me a certain look, couldn't understand why. But I proceeded anyways assuming that maybe she's just having a bad day or going through whatever she is going through. I sat on one side of the bar realizing that maybe I was too far from the other people that were ordering on the other side so I decided to cross over so that way I could communicate with the bartender. She still continue to be rude. I don't know if she was having a bad day I just felt like it's not fair that she decided to put this energy on to me. I tried to ask about different drinks and different foods but the whole time she still had an attitude. I still ordered my food and even though I tried to ask for forks and knives she didn't offer me anything but I waited until the end of my meal and by then it was too late. I really did not enjoy my time there. When I went to pay I realized she charged me 18% on top of the meal. When I asked around all the other people that were eating told me that yes she definitely did charge me more than she was supposed to. I low-key feel like this location is possibly favoritism and racism. How in the world am I getting charged 18% tip just because I'm asking questions? The bartender also said that I was talking s*** to the other guess that we're eating when in reality I was just asking questions about how long this place has been open for. I was just asking about the history of the location and the vibe and the energy but somehow I got treated as someone who came here to argue and fight. I had every right to yell at the end when the bartender got rude and told me if I could not afford the food then why did I come there to eat! Not realizing that she was talking to a hair stylist who just came from doing her clients hair. I really wanted to ask her if you're not happy why are you even there working. And the fact that I took a picture of the bartender because she wouldn't give me her name! She said she would sue me but how can you sue me when you are a servicer servicing someone who comes to pay you and you're being so extremely rude! I've been going to this spot for years!! It was a great place but it has changed drastically!!! They took the popular menu items off the menu. They no longer cook the wings Crispy. They also deleted the urban music from the Jukebox. To top it off they started adding 18% gratuity to the checks. I found this out after I tipped the waiter in cash!!!! There is nothing written anywhere that says Gratuity is automatically added and then u pay tax on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Want to go somewhere racist and unprofessional? This is the place for you. Service sucks. Attitude is poor. The food is okay. But God forbid if you try to have a conversation with the manager and they act as if you're the one that's in the wrong. Also, the karaoke DJ and his wife on Sundays are the worst, need to not drink while on the job or just need to get fired period. Definitely don't recommend coming back here for anything especially if you're black. Don't be fooled by these folks because they just only want money. We love Hammer's! We are there at least twice a week bc the prices are good, the bartenders know their business, and the peel-and-eat shrimp is fantastic. You wouldn't expect that at a dive bar. Certainly they have good bar food, and the nuclear sauce is good, but GET THEM SHRIMPS. read more

Mmmm, its hard to rate Hammers. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not. Service, the same thing. It's a bit grubby but the cocktails are cheap annnd overpoured! the kitchen is clean. I'm not sure of there's a better bar to get together with your friends straight from the airport and have a great time. They do allow smoking, but I've never found it bothersome except late Friday/Saturday nights. I'm more of a lunch person so it's never a problem. If you're a local or have free time at the airport swing by. You'll soon be a member of the family. Bring a buck or two for KENO if you'd like.o I like the crappy place! Lol read more

HORRIBLE BARTENDER HOSPITALITY! So during my travel to Atlanta for the first time I wanted to venture out and try a small quaint bar that play some good music as well as get some late night eats. As we were walking in the door the DJ said last call for the kitchen so I immediately went to the bar and ask the bartender Claire if I could still order food. She stated that the kitchen was closed I stated that the DJ just said last call for the kitchen and she turned and talk to another bartender and then immediately started talking to another customer totally ignoring me. To top that off I wanted to order a cocktail and when she got there with the guy next to me she never once came back to me to ask me if I needed anything else she commenced to doing everything around me. I'm not sure what her attitude was or she carries a jealous Spirit behind the bar but this is a clear example that you never know who is a regular and who is traveling and who writes reviews such as I. Me and my friend immediately went to a waitress who was so energetic so delightful so welcome mean her name was Monica I expressed to her my distress and she was so apologetic for my experience I was able to order my cocktails through her in which Clare still made SMH. Monica kept coming back to make sure that we were okay and if we need anything else and I really appreciate it her hospitality in a place that seem to lose it somewhere. As much as I wanted to give the bartender tip I was happy and delighted to double the tip for Monica. This will be labeled up north as a dive bar for sure but nothing wrong with that for sometimes the dive bars have the best food and customer service..I just wasn't that lucky to experience it thru the entire time. I made it a point to get the bartender's name before leaving because I wanted to make sure I included her into this review but I also wanted to let her know as I was departing the establishment I wanted to give her eye contact and expressed to her to have a happy and most joyous Christmas. Kill them with kindness is my motto. No one should experience that type of disrespect if she doesn't like the job she is in only she can make the choice to have a better one. Definitely a good time! Came with a group of coworkers and we had a blast. The inside bar seemed more relaxed. But the outside bar is a party! Karaoke, volleyball, darts, and pool just to name what we saw going on. Definitely a fun crowd outside too. Service is a little slow, but it's not a deal breaker, just order earlier. Prices are great too for a strong drink, so it's worth the wait. Overall a very solid dive bar with lots of entertainment. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Super cute bar from the outside, volleyball area, looked like a good time. Visiting from CA and couldn't get a seat anywhere else without a wait of an hour so we stopped here to give it a whirl. Walked in was not greeted, didn't even know where to sit. Sat down waited 15 mins for someone to come ask what we wanted to drink.... keep in mind this is a BAR.. no drink menu. The waitress handed us a spiral notebook with handwritten names of drinks and pricing. Almost left. Ordered because we were already invested at that point. 20 more minutes and still no drinks. Almost left. In that time frame two tables walked in sat down and walked out because there was no service. The place had a total of 9 people in it..excluding the pool table area. Drinks come out and OMG the worst. I will add a photo of the "sangria". The drinks were super strong. Menu was too large and the place was dusty, dirty and no customer service at all. I was looking for Jon Taffer to walk in from Bar Rescue. This place needs it bad. Food was cold when it came out and I am pretty sure my tater tots had been in the freezer for months. Surprised this place is still open. So much potential but no one appeared to care that worked there. Nothing but a bar of regulars that likely don't bring in any money for the place. It was sweltering hot again in the bar. We moved everything to stand in front of a fan. In 5 minutes The manager came and moved the fan to cool a customer who came in long after us. I live in the area and have been going to Hammers a long enough that I feel I can give it a decent review. I go at least once a week and occasionally more. FOOD- As far as the food goes I have yet to try something I don't like. As regulars we challenge the menu a little by asking for things that aren't on it. Our favorites so far are Garlic Parm/hot mixed wings (they mix both sauces then toss your wings in it) and Tots and Queso. If you don't believe me on the tots and queso combo DO IT! My other favorite wing flavor is the Jamaican jerk but honestly its hard to pick a bad one. SERVICE- Many of the servers know me and my friends on a first name basis, and a few even know our drink orders before we even make them. Now in another review someone mentioned that regulars get served before new guests and that isn't always the case. When they get slammed on a heavy night sometimes even we get neglected. On evening we all decided to sit on the patio next to the volleyball court and after 30 minutes without seeing a server we all decided to just go home for a night. I'm not going to hold this against them or anything, sometimes it just gets busier than they are prepared for. DRINKS- I am sad to report that they do not have any cider on the menu.They used to but decided to get rid of it "Because the regulars like drinking bud light." I consider myself a regular and so does my other cider drinking buddy, so if the person making decisions about the drink offerings for this establishment happens to be reading this review, then I ask that a cider be added back. The Crispen that you used to have was wonderful! Of course I'm open to others, but just wanted to toss in my two cents on that one. The rest of the time I usually have shots of Jameson so I can't really offer an opinion on mixed drinks beyond telling you that you are in good hands if Tammy is behind the bar. SPECIALS- Wednesday is wingsday. 50cent wings with a 5 wing minimum. Thursday is "industry night." Except by industry they mean aviation industry. So if you work for an airline have your ID in your pocket for 25% off your order. Don't forget to take care of the staff on this night. I was surprisingly impressed with ol' Hammer's. This place has strange hours (not open on Monday/Tuesday nights I believe), and every time I drive by it seems to never be open. However, some friends and I found ourselves there on a Friday night recently with a hankerin' to play sand-court volleyball. I warned my friends "I've never been to this place, but I think it's pretty seedy". Upon entering there was a light crowd of all types and ages. The interior reminds me of a pirate's ship which was kinda cool/funky/cheesy at the same time. The staff and locals were friendly and non-judgemental of my friends' and my super enthusiasm about playing volleyball. Hammer's has a large "beach bar" area circa 1995 Panama City Beach decor that overlooks the volleyball court, and I thought it was AWESOME! It is surprisingly clean and somewhat well-kept despite how it looks from the outside. The beach bar area was quite fun, if you dig deep into your imagination it almost feels like you're on the beach and not near the Atlanta Airport. There is a dance floor with a fun DJ spinning a mix of alot of 90's jams (think CMC Music Factory and Boyz 2 Men), and a super nice bartender working the beach bar. Volleyball was tons of fun as the few onlookers cheered us on all night long. Yes this place is a dive but I would totally recommend it for its querkiness and the friendly peeps. read more

When the tab was opened, I asked to have it closed immediately which she didn't do. Then I had to track down the waitress 3 separate times to close it out which she finally did, and there appeared 3 more beers on the tab (which I never ordered). I love dive bars but contrary to many of the reviews on here, this is not a dive bar, this is a dump. 2nd star for having cold beer at reasonable prices but beyond that there's nothing else here. Service - hey - hi - hello - excuse me - hey over here ... crickets. Pretty sure the homeless guy that was asking for money on the corner of Virginia Ave and Bobby Brown was drinking a beer in the corner, so they have that going for them for clientele.
