OMGGGGGG I have been wanting to try this place for a while and tonight I didn't want to cook and…read morefast food just wasn't going to do it. I ordered the fried catfish, the crawfish stouter, and the fried okra with a Hurricane to go. Food was ready quick quick quick. I live pretty close so I went to pick it up. The space was large, tucked away. It was clean and simple but the SMELL. The smell was the EXACT way you want a New Orleans restaurant to smell. If you have been down there and know how to cook Creole/Cajun, you know exactly what I mean. I got home and sipped the Hurricane and I was like oh it taste like orange juice then BAM! It hit me, it was adequately strong. And then I opened it and saw beautifully golden brown catfish and fried okra. I opened the etouffe and it smelled like the southern creole cooking I love. The taste was perfect, the okra was crispy, the catfish was soft and flaky, and the etouffe was beautifully smooth and flavorful. My only complaint was the catfish was like a filet and a half and not two filets. I just cannot believe the food is hidden in Rochester. I will be frequenting regularly!

Good authentic Cajun!…read more With so much to choose from in Ithaca NY, why would visitors look into a Cajun restaurant? Because we've found that this town is a foodie paradise, we love catfish, and we love love blackened catfish. We had Maxie's blackened catfish in a flavorful spicy deep-pink Creole sauce, with maple-braised (!) collard greens, black beans and rice. They were not fooling around. They know their true Cajun seasoning. The oysters at the next table looked great, too, but we had missed the happy hour special. Of course we added an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with a bright somewhat-spicy New Orleans version of remoulade. Any they didn't shortcut the sazerac either: they rinsed the glass with Pernod, and finished it with authentic Peychaud's bitters. Wonderful.

From the building and decor, to the drinks and decor, NOLA is everywhere on the menu and in the restaurant. We started with a State Street Hurricane (dark and light rum, passionfruit, and lime) and a Spicy Margarita, which were both great. We had a half dozen of both of their oyster selections (Malpeque from PEI and Spindrift from MA), which they serve with freshly shaved horseradish (a nice touch). Then we shared a Caesar salad, their fish fry, and their special of the night - pan-seared arctic char (with a creamy tomato sauce with capers, cheesy grits, and garlicy spinach). Everything was great. As usual, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we couldn't eat everything we ordered. But the food was so good we ate most of our leftovers the next day for breakfast. The service was very good, and the vibes are great - it's comfortable, casual, and fun. We had a fun meal and some great food. I'd happily return.

Coming from NC I was a little hesitant but WOW the flavor was incredible. I got snow crab legs, shrimp, and added sausage. It comes with corn and potatoes. I have eaten at several Chinese establishments in my 56 years and I am telling you this is one of the best. We stared with soup- a small won ton and a small egg drop. Absolute perfection - the chicken broth reminds me of the chicken soup my grandmother uses to make. We ordered the Orange Beef- the best we have ever eaten. We also had a chicken with garlic sauce lunch special - again the best I have had, came with a pork egg roll and some lovely yellow fried rice. The ambiance is quite nice and very relaxed atmosphere. The service was beyond expert. I don't hand out good reviews easily but this establishment deserves absolute kudos and much success. We will come here every time we get to Ithaca & it's that good
