Oh my God, the brussels sprouts. Amazing. They had the lightest coating of breading possible on them. And then they were flash fried. Then covered with a drizzle of hot honey, feta cheese, and almonds. Unbelievable. And a generous portion to boot. We also had a starter of Korean style hot wings. A surprisingly good place that doesn't seem to have enough word of mouth to boost it. I suppose being outside Leesburg makes this watering hole a local secret. I ordered steak frites and a beer. Getting good service was initially challenging since they were short staffed, but once we got past that, things went smoothly. I thought my meal was exceptional, and it came out quickly. So whatever shortfalls of service there was at the bar definitely don't apply to the kitchen. Definitely a re-try! read more

Since it was a Saturday night and we wanted to sit outside, I tried to make a reservation online only to be emailed that they had no outdoor seating available then minutes beforehand- which turns out was incorrect luckily and we were able to sit outside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside restaurant/ bar area feels pretty old fashioned and honestly very dark, but the outside terrace is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly but slow and nonexistent at times. They were clearly understaffed and I felt bad for our server, but the restaurant really needs to address that. The food was decent- I had the blackened chicken and my kids had pasta dishes, which were all ok. OMG. We have a new favorite Local restaurant! We stopped in for a beer an an appetizer after a cold day outside and left feeling warm all over. Two local couples had recommended HSG and it took us nearly two years to finally try them out. After careful deliberation, and input from the bar tender, we decided to try the Brussels sprouts and the Korean style chicken wings. The Brussels sprouts were amazing! I am a fan of broiled Brussels sprouts but these were a cut above. They were lightly battered, fried, and served with almonds and feta cheese. This one appetizer could be a meal in itself. The went perfectly with the Port City Porter, a fabulous local Virginia beer. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place itself is enormous and has a very warm and inviting vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We chose to sit at the bar and enjoyed visiting with the bartender who peppered us with lots of information about HSG, like info about Friday Karaoke and an in-progress trivia night. Also learned that there is often live music on the weekends[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The service was excellent. I especially appreciated the fact the our two fried appetizers arrived at a perfect eating temperature (not right out of the oven where you have to be careful not to burn your mouth). I am surprised by the bad reviews. I loved this place. It's right across from the fire station and plenty of parking. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar by myself. Everyone was very friendly and you could tell that the others at the bar were regulars. When I heard that the chef was Greek, I knew exactly what I wanted. Not only is he from Greece but his dad was currently in Greece and it's a family owned restaurant. I ordered a Gyro and it came with fries. I also ordered the mac and cheese to go. It's not Kraft....it is homemade. The chicken gyro was good. The pita was nice and warm and fluffy. The tzatziki sauce was delicious. I also got a side of ranch - recommended by someone at the bar - because it was made in house. It tasted fresh and homemade. The chicken was a little dry but not too bad. The mac and cheese was a huge portion and was also good. I love homemade mac and cheese. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is definitely a place I could hang out but also be willing to take my mom there and sit down and have a lunch or dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are very reasonable. The hostess took one look at us and said she would not serve us because they did not have enough staff before we even got to a table. I understand staff are hard to come by right now, but to not even let us sit down or greet us with a warm hello was extremely offputting . If you are shortstaffed and the wait is going to be long, definitely a heads up is appreciated. This is a great local place! Fabulous well stocked bar. (Coconut tequila? A surprising find and quite tasty!). Nice mom n pop spot. We did a pick up order for pizza. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and also a 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni pizza. They were delicious!!!! The crust was so tasty and fresh. There was a lot of pulled chicken on the pizza. The cheese was lovely not too much or too little. They put fresh cracked pepper on the pepperoni, what a nice touch. Went there last night for the first time. What an absolute GEM! Small comfortable place. Lots of room. I sat at the bar and had a glass of the house cab with their beet salad. What an amazing treat!!! The menu on the whole is interesting and pretty wide open. Also found out that every other Tuesday (next happening on December 21), they hold a bluegrass jam in the back! Not sure about stuff on other nights, but this is my new go-to spot for dinner! read more

First off, this is the closest restaurant to my house and I really want to love it and have it be my first choice to grab a meal. It's not quite there yet. It's sort of a dive, which I enjoy, and has a great bar with a great beer selection. The food is good - especially the pizza - although I have had a few where the crust doesn't seem quite as cooked in the middle. Mac and Cheese with pulled pork on top was delicious and a huge portion. French Onion soup was average. German specials they serve for Oktoberfest have been very good. The staff is mom and pop and service is good. Outdoor patio seating is nice in the summer. The food is not quite up to Blue Ridge Grill standards but it's a nice place to grab a pizza and a beer. read more

I have never had a bad meal at Hamilton Station and I have been going for years. Seven of us went on New Years' Eve this year - we had been working hard all day and it was close to home - I had medium rare filet mignon, mashed potatoes and tiny delicate green beans cooked just right. Everything was absolutely delicious. It could not have been better for twice the money. They also always have a really good craft beer selection. Much better that Magnolias by far. No offense to Magnolias, but beer lovers need to know where to go. I also recently heard from a friend that she had an item that she didn't like and wasn't eating and when the owner noticed it was taken off her tab. That is good customer service. This place is family run by a Greek family and they are great people. Worth a stop for sure. read more

We just moved to Hamilton and needed pizza! We kept passing by this restaurant on our daily commute so decided to try it for takeout and got the all meat and ham & cheese pizzas. The inside of the restaurant is not updated or fancy but we were getting takeout so I really didn't care. It's a local place and doing the best they can to survive during the tough time of COVID (observing mask wearing and social distancing from what I saw). Very nice staff brought out my pizza and wow! Great pizza, tastes like homemade. Some love went into that pizza! The all meat pizza had a very generous amount of toppings and all were well seasoned, fresh and delicious. My husband and I ate that pizza for 2 days for lunch and dinner and enjoyed every bit of it. Our 5 year old would eat that ham & cheese pizza 3 meals a day if I let him. When we have time to plan ahead and make dough we like to make our own pizza at home, but we may not be doing that after trying this place! Very good value for the price. The food was awful. We ordered the loaded tots as an appetizer. A bowl of soft tater tots with cheese on top is not loaded tots. Nothing else came out with them. I ordered the margarita pizza. I did not order a garlic pizza. There was so much garlic on it it looked like someone accidentally spilled a jar of minced garlic on the pizza, it was also covered in granulated garlic. It was not edible. Absolutely disgusting. Then there were a bunch of drunk people at the bar being really loud. This place is a bar that tries to serves food. Oh and no AC just ceiling fans. At the end, I had to go find our waitress for the check after waiting about 20 minutes. She should have noticed that out of a party of 8 there was just two of us left waiting to pay the bill. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before. I have always lurked so I would know where to eat and have been sitting on this one for some time now. Putting it off like a high school assignment due last week. The time is now. Tonight I had dinner at a seafood joint In the Cape Cod area that was so good I felt compelled to review it. First, as I had promised to myself long ago, I had to review this place. A few years ago I stopped here with friends and we had dinner. It used to be named Beautiful South. Though the name has changed the owners and menu have not. Starter: Greek Trio. Delicious. The hummus, tzatziki and spicy feta dips were all good. No complaints. Can't say much more. Moving onto the crab cake I ordered... Crab cake: Worst I have ever had in my entire life. Flattened ball of pan fried Thanksgiving stuffing devoid of any crab meat. A nice tavern and grill. They offer a nice Sunday brunch. I got a western omelet which came with a generous amount of game, onion, peppers and cheese. It was light and fluffy. Delicious. I hate to write this negative review since the family owners are nice folks, but they outta know why their restaurant is empty. The so-called re-branding simply involved changing the name on the façade... and that is it! They still have the same old bad bar food, dirty linoleum tiled floors, paper tablecloths, old oak mirrored arched bar, non HD projection TV, granny chairs, unprofessional wait staff, etc. Just a gross place. Glad I couldn't see the kitchen. The one positive was the beer selection. They had Hell or High Watermelon on tap! whaaaaat? Otherwise the pizza tasted like they defrosted some DiGiorno dough. At least DiGiorno has some sauce on their pizzas! We even ordered extra sauce. I lifted the greasy cheese and I think I may have seen some...nah. Also, what self-respecting Greek place serves non-marinated pork (instead of lamb?) souvlaki appetizers on thick wonder bread instead of pita bread with no tzaziki sauce or feta cheese. Then after spending even more excruciating minutes there, the clueless waitress claims that the credit card machine doesn't work and I should pay in cash or leave all my credit card info so everyone can charge it later. She just wanted to "keep the change", but I insisted on the change to give her and the restaurant the tip it really deserved. Advice: Stay home and eat a frozen pizza, and watch a HD game with your favorite beer. They should have contacted Gordon Ramsey. read more

We have been coming in here for just over 2 years now, and just love it. It is family owned and they treat their customers like family as well. We order out and eat in at least once a week. The food is great, the pizzas are awesome! How many places can you go to that you don't need a condiment with the fries? They are that good. The only thing that this restaurant needs, is a bit of an interior facelift, which I know they are working on. Plan on stopping in this weekend for the Meat Head Pizza. read more

I visited the HSG on a Wednesday night, I believe. It was about 9:30. Just a few people there at the bar. Penny the bartender came over right away, let me sample a beer, and put my food order in. My burger came within 5 minutes! It was good, nothing to complain about. Filled me up. Would be nice to see some more house creations, but they do offer all the sides to make what you want. This place is a 3 minute drive from my Dad's house. And it is about the only place to eat within a short drive from my Dad's house. I've here a couple of times. Is OK, and I'm certainly grateful that there is a place to eat so near his house, but I wouldn't recommend it for folks outside of the neighborhood. Aside from proximity, there are a couple of things I really like about this place. First, it seems to be family owned and is very friendly. The service is friendly, but this is also a nice local watering hole with happy, friendly patrons. Second, ample attention is paid here to beer, which I like. A few drafts, but good ones. I had a Fly Dog Pumpkin and a Sierra Nevada Celebration. Last, the menu has a very broad assortment of food. Fun appetizers, pizza, sandwiches/burgers, steaks, seafood, etc. And then there's what I don't like. While service is super-friendly, it is also suuupper-sloooooow. We weren't in any particular hurry but we still found it took a long time. And this on a not-busy night and us visiting with a small party. Other area where I've found this area lacking is in the food. This last time I had the steak frites. Steak was chewy, and frites were soggy. No doubt I'll be back, and that's fine, but like I said my future visits will be based largely on convenience and dearth of choice. However, it isn't a bad place and there are bits of what it has to offer that I will look forward to. read more

Having recently moved to the area, my husband and I are making an effort to try as many new places as possible. The gastropub has made that difficult as we have been coming back at least one a week for the past 3 months. The weekly family specials are an incredible deal, the dining in experience is extremely enjoyable (and covid regulations being followed to a tee). I was disappointed. A gyro should be so simple to do well. Instead of nice, thick strips of meat, mine had eight overcooked pieces about the size of a pinky finger. They drowned the meat in a huge dose of tetraziki. I also asked to have my fries cooked longer. I like my fries golden and crispy. Mine were floppy with no crunch. I ate one and shoved the plate aside. Disgusting. Our waiter, a nice fellow, never once asked if there was a problem. They're French fries. They're inexpensive. Fixing the problem would have been easy. The Greek salad was okay. I'd prefer to not have had my gyro plopped on top, though. My wife's soft shell crabs were pretty good. I ate a claw. $50 later, that claw was the highlight of my final visit. read more

I'm writing this review because I take issue with a previous reviewer who said good reviews are just from friends and family. I am not a relative or a friend of the owners. We recently stopped by last week on a Sunday evening. The restaurant had lots of diners, as well as people at the bar, and people eating outside on the patio because it was such a beautiful night. Amber was our server, very friendly and helpful. Both of us had the seafood concasse. This was packed full of seafood including juicy scallops, and the sauce was so delicious. I will definitely be back for more of this in the future. It was incredibly good. I also had the house salad which had lots of fresh chunky vegetables and the best blue cheese dressing I have ever had. A+ to our cook for the evening, Sean.
