We have eaten at NIK's a number of times. The food has always been good to excellent. We went New Year's Eve and we were a little skeptical but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. We were seated a little late because the people with a 5:00 pm reservation were still chatting and drinking wine at 7:00. BLUF: Local vibes and food with little-to-no flavor. We came here after getting a few recommendations from friends. We wouldn't go back. Food (2/5): We ordered the fettuccine alfredo and a beef special dish. The fettuccine alfredo tasted like boxed mac n cheese, and the beef special dish was bland. I had to add pepper into my fettuccine alfredo to give it any taste other than cheese. Ambiance (2/5): It was pretty loud in there; the table in the center of the place seemed to be where locals sat and didn't help keep other patrons there with their very vulgar conversation about strip clubs. It made us feel quite uncomfy since we weren't expecting that kind of talk at dinner. I only put this in the review because the staff members were encouraging the table's conversation by joining in with their own experiences. The place gives off very local dining vibes. It's a small place with some booth and table seating. A bit dark on the lighting and has slippery floors. It's supposed to be authentic Italian food, but it seemed extremely Americanized. I was disappointed in this since my mother is Italian, so I grew up with really good food. When I heard that the owner was Italian, I thought it would be a great local place to get food like my mom's, but I was wrong. Service (3/5): Our server was good. He wasn't the most attentive, as we didn't get water refills, but he was considerate when I needed more time on the menu. You can order carry-out food. Great local restaurant in Berryville, VA. The food is locally prepared and this is not a chain restaurant. The food is very high quality and never disappoints. You can have a homemade pizza or an Italian dish or a great steak. The steaks here are some of the highest quality's. Aged and cut in house, they are remarkable. Terrible service. I ordered an entree and it came out completely wrong. Rude staff but the bartender (Ben) was particularly unprofessional. Not only was he unfamiliar with the menu but seemed indifferent when the order came out wrong. The owners, especially being in a small town, should really take careful consideration when bringing in staff. I do not recommend anyone come here! My wife and I had dinner at Nik's this week and it was terrific. It was our first time at this restaurant. Our waitress, Mercedes, was very friendly and helpful with our questions on the menu items. We had the Burratta for a starter. It was amazing. One of the chef's recommended a wine for our dinner and it was perfect. I loved my Chicken Parmigiano over angel hair pasta. My wife loved her Classic Alfredo with shrimp. The restaurant has a cozy environment and decorated nicely for Christmas. We will definitely return to Nik's again. read more

What a pleasant surprise! Food is here extraordinarily good. I had lasagna and my wife had Chicken Parmesan. So many layers of flavor. I can't wait to come back and try other things. The French Dip went by and my mouth watered, then their pizza! Oh my. Also, they had steaks. Only drawback is the seating is a little odd and outdated. First time trying this restaurant, even though I have passed by it plenty of times. Wasn't sure what to expect since it's hard to locate a recent/current menu. So there are probably way more options than I saw on the version of menu that I looked at. That being said, I had the white pizza (no ricotta)and a Caesar salad. I would say worth the try but not my next go to spot for lunch....Eeeeee.....nothing over the top. Pretty average if you ask me. Wasn't bad wasn't great just a meal. I got a 10" pizza costed a little less than $10.00 so I guess good price. Ordered Pepperoni and Pineapple, would haves hoped to see same amount of pineapples pepperoni. Tasted okay. I would say best place in town for lunch and for dinner. They have a very good burger (lunch only) and very good NY Strip and Rib-eye steaks (dinner only i think). Chicken Marsala, pizza, and such are fine as well. Beer variety could be better would be my only complaint. read more
