Its really beautiful hotel. My room was amazing. Shampoo, Conditioner and Bath Aroma products they provided was the best i used in any hotel, they had a fragrance of spices in it and felt good. They also provided oils and some other stuff to relax your body. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Lobby is also really nice. Wifi is super fast. Location of hotel is also very good as its in downtown and near to all tourist and hot spot places. I got amazing deal on hotels.com to book hotel here for 80 bucks/day. read more

This hotel had a swanky re-dux a few years back and I find it very nice and modern. The rooms make good use of the small space as it is an old building and they can be small. The food in the restaurant is adequate, you may just get spotty service in the restaurant and bar. The location is great with a metro about a block away and many of the many other sites of DC near by. The front desk staff and operations staff is very helpful. I would recommend this hotel. I often will use this location for my board of directors meetings because of the convenience. It gets points for a real Starbucks in the lobby, too! read more

My boyfriend planned a mini vacation to DC and as a priority club member, we got a great deal to stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. If you are not from DC, don't even bother getting a car rental if it is not necessary. As you can see from the complaints below, parking is very expensive not only at the hotel, but elsewhere in DC. We walked everywhere or took a taxi and did not have to worry about paying for high priced parking. The room was nice and modern as everyone describes it. Our room did not face the street (as we requested) because we knew that it can get a bit rowdy with the car honks in the middle of the night, so I was not expecting a nice view out the window. Our overall experience with this hotel was great. I normally take a long time to fall asleep and get accustomed to a hotel bed, but I fell right asleep! You do get many advantages with being a priority club member such as free wifi, free breakfast, free access to the gym. Otherwise, you might have to pay for the aforementioned. We are both pleased with the hospitality and the customer service. We will definitely stay at this hotel again if the opportunity comes to travel to DC again. read more

It has a nice overly perfumed lobby, great. They dont have a meeting room, or business center so if you have to take a call you have to do it from your room and I dont know what to do if you need to print something. The towels are scratchy, they need to go to home goods and pick up luxurious towels. The location is pretty central and within walking distance to many things in the area. read more

Short Version: This place will not meet expectations. Long Version: I decided to stay at this Crowne Plaza based on my experience with Crowne Plaza in the past. Man, do I regret that decision. Across the board, this place was disappointing. Not horrific, but definitely not up to the brand or the cost. A couple things to keep in mind: If you're not a member, you'll be paying $15 a night for internet. Even if you are a member, you'll be fighting for every byte you can get. The internet is terrible. I assume this is also tied to the cable, which also had issues. Second, they don't have complimentary breakfast. They're really pushing the restaurant downstairs. Next, the room: it's fine, the bed is comfortable for a hotel, I suppose. The bathroom is small and dinky. Nothing to see here, pretty run of the mill. Unfortunately, the water pressure isn't really that good and if you like hot showers, you'll be complaining a lot. I don't like hot showers but the shower was not consistently warm enough for me. Definitely not what you would expect. The fitness room was small and the televisions didn't really work. The one thing they got going for them is the soap/shampoo/lotion. Otherwise, you'll probably be disappointed. read more

All of the above and more just magically happened to me at the Hamilton. Calvin was off the charts cool and took great care of me. Considering I arrived with no reservation at 10:30pm after a long, weary day he could have gouged me and I would have paid it. Instead, my rate was below expectations, the room was ridiculously clean and he even provided a voucher for breakfast. I couldn't be happier! read more

My room was paid for by a company who brought me in as a speaker. When I arrived I realized I did not have my credit card with me. Even though my room was paid in full and I was only staying 1 night, the front desk refused to check me in, saying it was their policy to not check in guests without a credit card. Even though the room was already paid. Charges for "incidentals" are actually bull****, I worked in hotels for years and this is a very easy charge to remove. But instead of doing this, the front desk made me call around to people in my company well after work hours to make sure the company would guarantee my incidentals--even though I told them there would be no incidentals--I was barely in the room long enough to even get a good nights sleep. Of course the company agreed to guarantee the nonexistent charges but not before the front desk made me humiliate myself explaining my situation to the company. The staff were rude and completely unaccommodating in a situation that would have been very easy for them to resolve. There are plenty of great places to stay in DC, keep looking because this isn't one of them! read more

I was VERY happy with my stay here. A little hesitant when i first booked it, because it was my first time in DC, and I wanted a hotel close to the metro, in a central area, and a place that was nice and clean. As with anything else where you're a first-timer, hotels are pretty much a hit or miss. This one was definitely a hit. I booked a Saturday through Monday stay on hotels.com and paid about $150/night. While this wasn't the cheapest place I found, we decided to go with it based on location and reviews from Yelpers. Location -- VERY convenient. One block away from the McPherson Square stop (Blue and Orange lines). We took the metro from Ronald Reagan Airport, and it was 8 stops (about 15 minutes total). There are also restaurants, stores, tourist attractions, etc. nearby. Very easy to get a taxi in the area. The one sketchy thing was the park across the street (Franklin Park). It was fine during the day, but at night, all the homeless people lined up along the street, asking for money, etc. While I didn't mind it so much during the day, it seemed uber-sketchy at night. Staff -- attentive and friendly. Check-in and check-out both took me less than two minutes. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room daily and refreshing our towels. We went to the bar/restaurant downstairs (14K) a few times and had a great experience each time. Amenities -- There's a Starbucks in the lobby, which provided coffee and breakfast for us each morning. As mentioned above, there's also a hotel bar/restaurant that actually had decent food, good prices, and a good bar area and happy hour. There were signs up apologizing for elevator maintenance inconvenience. There are four elevators, but never more than one or two working at a time. Also, the elevators are TINY and could only fit about six people at any given time (even less if anyone has luggage). Internet is $13/day. If you have WiFi through AT&T, this *is* an AT&T hotspot. I could get WiFi on my iPhone, but couldn't on my laptop, so I ended up buying internet on one of the days I was there. Ice machines and vending machines available on every other floor. Room -- decent sized for the price. Nice bathroom. Lots of products were provided (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, multiple soap, shower cap, mouthwash, and mending kit). They'll also provide you with a toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and shaving cream free of charge if you happen to forget yours. The sink area is separate from the toilet/shower, so multiple people can be using the bathroom at once, which was nice. Lots of towels provided, as well as a hairdryer. We had a king-sized bed and it was very comfortable. The curtains are also completely opaque and even during the daytime, if you have them drawn, your room is completely dark. Made for a very good night's sleep. Room was equipped with a safe as well as a good-sized flat-screen TV and a desk. Honestly, I have nothing to complain about regarding this hotel. I would DEFINITELY stay here again on subsequent visits. You really can't beat the location and convenience. read more

I am only reviewing the Starbucks within the Hotel. The line gets pretty long here but the baristas keep the drinks comin. The cashiers are really sweet but move pretty slow, doesn't really matter much since your drink still won't be ready by the time you're done paying. However, I always end up with a loud mouth breathing down my neck so they could pay for their order (i.e. this morning!)...typical. Drinks are made right 90% of the time and the price charged for a gold card member is correct 30% of the time (since it's manual at this location). Most Starbucks locations have a POS that automatically charges the right amount when it registers it's a gold card, this location does not have this such POS. I come to this location probably 1-4 times a week. read more

The first time I stayed here was this past February for a few days over Valentines Day. They were still under construction but I had no real complaints. They had warned us at booking that the restaurant had been closed so we made other arrangements for dining. However, this time I traveled to DC for medical reasons. Only one night but checkin was great. They offered champagne upon arrival. We got in late but still had dinner at the new restaurant. Great choice. Food was delicious. Here is where things went wrong. I called valet several times around 0600 to make sure my car was ready. It took 5 tries. I even called the front desk once, no answer. Finally valet answers and says they'll have the car ready. I still finished getting dressed since it says it would take 20min. Get downstairs, car isn't ready. Fine. We wait about another 10 minutes. 0637, Car arrives. Since I had eye surgery my friend is driving me around. So she goes to the driver side, he gives her the keys. I'm digging in my purse looking for the $20 to tip valet. Yes, I'm still in the sidewalk with my luggage since I can barely see, it took time to find my cash. So after he gives her the key, he comes around the car. No "hello". No "good morning" but instead he says, "do you need a taxi?" I'm beyond offended!!!! If I needed a taxi I would have called one or went to the front desk. This is MY CAR!!! Do I not look like I can afford such luxuries? I tried not to be upset about this but I'm so offended. Yes, I'm African American and my friend who I had driving me is white. I'm trying not to see this as a racial issue. However, a simple "good morning" or "hello, can I help you with anything" would have sufficed. Instead of giving him my $20 he got 5 wrinkled up dollar bills. I'm disgusted. I planned to stay here every time I visit DC, but no. This completely changed everything. read more

Looks like a 4.5, but's really a 3. My long weekend was one misstep after another. Checked in on a Friday around noon. Got a room right away and dropped my bags in the room when I noticed my garbage can was half full of used sanitary products. The manager kept saying sometimes people go back up to their rooms and leave a tissue, but didn't believe me until the supervisor saw the mess. Then I forgot my phone in my car and asked them to just retrieve the phone, but the car wasn't necessary. After 20 minutes, they told me they were looking in the wrong car and would start all over again. Coming back in the evening that day I discovered my shower didn't work properly. Each day I was there I asked to have it fixed and each day it would work for 30 seconds and then break again. Never did get it fixed. The room was nicely decorated as was the lobby and the people were friendly, just not competent. The bed was comfortable and the lobby had free cold water waiting for you upon your return. The hotel is in a good central location, but the square/park next to the hotel was homeless central until night, then the subway station closest to the hotel became bum central. The hotel is within walking distance of the White House and many other sites and has both a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts within feet. With all the hotel selections in DC however, this is not a location I'd stay again. read more

I booked my room through hotels.com. I got a pretty good rate. I didn't have any issues with the staff. They were friendly and even upgraded my reservation to a king size bed. The rooms aren't huge, but I wasn't there to spend a lot of time in my room. I was on one corner of the building and could easily hear the traffic noise. For some reason, people like to honk a lot at 3:00 am. Other than that, I had a nice stay. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. First, my family and I had two rooms. My sister had one under her name and I had one under mine that were booked through booking. When we went to check in, they said we didn't have reservations, despite showing them the email from booking.com. After 30 minutes, they apologized because the system didn't catch our reservations. We were told they would text us when our rooms became available. We went out after traveling all night, and five hours later, didn't have a text. We went back and the woman at the front desk said "oh yeah, sorry I forgot to text you". We were given our bags and went up to our rooms. The rooms are filthy. The furniture is nicked. It's bad. The worst are the vents. They're so atrociously filthy. Btw, they don't tell you that they are authorizing a $75 per night incidental fee. That was a nice surprise. Also, the hotel is surrounded by homeless people, so safety isn't a priority. There are cameras on every corner of the floor. Oh and lastly, the elevators are terrible. It took us 15 minutes to get on one so we started climbing the 5 flights of stairs. This hotel is subpar. It should be considered 2 stars. If you like comfort, I don't recommend staying here. Also, we realized that they gave everyone except us champagne upon checking in. read more

This hotel was a big let down for me. Having stayed at various DC hotels this one came in at a reasonable price, there was a reason it was cheap. First impression was good, warm welcome and had been given an upgrade, to a room with a view!! I'd hate to think what the room without the view was like. Room was average, aircon was filthy & noisy. The best was yet to come, I woke after a very poor nights sleep due to aircon making noise whether switched on or off to find 16 bites, the bed had blood spotting indicating bed bugs. I pulled back the sheets to see if I could see any bugs but none present. This continued the second night and the hotel were not interested to hear or look into the matter. As I had booked through a third party I was awarded free WiFi, the WiFi is poor at best and constantly drops out all over the hotel. No then, I mentioned the free WiFi, well it's not free! You are billed a $25 dollar facility fee for WiFi, board bikes you'll never use, downloadable newspapers which hardly anyone will ever use and some crap tv system you need to have 8 masters degrees to suss our how to use. Reception will cut you short on check out if you bring the matter up, all in all this is the poorest hotel in DC I've stayed in and I won't be making the same mistake again. read more

Very nice hotel, like that the room keys are super easy and don't have to mess with it 50 times for the door to open. The elevators were a tad slow but understandable because it's a big hotel. Love the theme. The beds and pillows were super comfy. Love the big mirror in the bathroom. Great location off the Blue Line MacPherson Square stop - exit at 14th St and turn left. The hotel looked very nice and the staff greeting me at the desk and the maids were friendly. My non-smoking double room was on the 4th floor so I usually just took the stairs rather than wait for the 2 elevators that seemed to be working. Pros about my room: - Clean, great a/c - The tv had limited cable channels, but CNN, Comedy Central, TBS, TNT, USA, and HBO were there - The iron worked well - I had a nice view of the park Cons: - I could not for the life of me access the Wifi from my IPhone so couldn't download any podcasts for the airplane ride home - I asked a maid for the nearest ice machine and she told me 9th floor. I called the front desk and they said all odd numbered-floors. - They ran a $75 dollar test charge on my credit card 2 days after I arrived even though I checked out and had no incidental charges so be ready for that Overall, convenient location, but nothing that knocked my socks off. read more

Pros: prime location, metro station at about a block away at I and 14th, about 3/4 of a mile away (which is a nice walk if the weather is cooperating), you get some of the touristy parts of DC, walking distance to a good amount of spaces. I had a king bed room and it was a good sized room, modern and very comfortable. The staff was courteous, helpful and nice. It took me 1 year to finish this review. In part because I was really hoping to give this place a higher rating. And it's all due to the rude housekeeper who was vacuuming over us while we were waiting for the airport shuttle. He was grinning too when we had to move five times while he was running us over with his vacuum. No 'excuse me.' No 'sorry.' Nothing. But even before this incident, when we first checked in and went up to our room, we found the pillows were all strewn about, which made us think that the housekeeper must not be ready with our room yet. So we called down to the lobby and asked if the room was ready for us. The front desk said that if the room "looked cleaned, then it probably is." Huh? Again, no apology. No free breakfast, no free wifi, no refrigerator in the rooms... The service is definitely meh... The only thing I like about this place is the proximity to the metro. And at least the rates are cheap, but then again, this place is cheap in so many ways. read more

Let me preface this review by stating that I have stayed here 7 times this year, and have experienced consistently good service and quality rooms with each stay. I have found this hotel to be one of the better priced hotels in DC, which is the primary reason for my frequent stays. Like other reviewers have noted; this is an historic hotel, and the standard rooms are on the small side. However, they are nicely decorated. Also, the elevators are small, old and slow, but that's part of the character of this hotel. Also, I would recommend this hotel for business travelers or vacationers without children. One minor complaint: Although I am a Priority Club Platinum Member, I still have to pay for internet like all of the common folk. Hyatt and Starwood give me free internet with their loyalty programs. read more

Ick. My family arrived on Saturday night and were greeted by a less-than-friendly, disgruntled receptionist. This set the tone for the whole stay. I mean, it's the Crowne Plaza, people, act professional! It is very wearying when you come off of a four hour car trip and get attitude and confusion when all you want to do is complete a simple check-in to the hotel that you booked on-line. Now we traveled with four children (including two under two). Could they assign us a quiet room? Nope! We were assigned a room right above 14th street and NO ONE got any sleep that evening. I mean, the windows are single pane!! Why? When you know your hotel is over a major Washington, DC thoroughfare, why do you have single pane windows and assign families with small children to these rooms?!? What kind of sadistic freak manages this hotel? All night we heard car noises and yelling, it was very loud. The next morning, breakfast was not complimentary, mind you, we paid for everything. You would think this would ensure good service, however, the staff was belligerent and rude in regard to our children. Perhaps they are so used to the antics of cheating Congressmen that families are an unknown quantity, but I am used to a certain standard of professionalism and it just wasn't there. Now, I have worked for franchises in the hospitality industry, so I know this hotel is not up to par for the Crowne Plaza chain. Someone in QA needs to check this out, it's a disgrace! Don't stay here. We did our research too and thought that the room rate was fair and the reputation of the Crowne Plaza franchise had its allure also, however, it was too noisy and too unprofessional! I was a bit weary at first because of the 3 1/2 stars on yelp but I have to say it was a very comfortable stay. We didn't park in the hotel because there is a parking lot behind the building that charges $27 overnight as opposed to the $45 a night in the hotel. We also found street parking for overnight Saturday into Sunday free of charge. You have to make sure of the hours. The hotel is conveniently located and there are metro stops close by. Our room was a corner unit facing the city area with two doubles. I am a freak about bed bugs and it happens because there are always travelers from many different countries and many different walks of life. It's to be expected but I pulled the mattresses back and there was a good amount of dust on the floor by the head board. We called downstairs and they came up right away to vacuum it for us. Service was very good. Everything is updated and the rooms were quite modern. The only cons were that DC seems to have lots of homeless and the Hamilton had its fair share on every corner. It seemed to be the norm everywhere in the city which was sad to see. I am from NY and I have never encountered as many as we did day and night. It's not too safe to walk alone at night. I also didn't like the fact that the added security measure of having to use your room card on the elevators was always turned off. And finally, the nights that the night club was open on the 13th street side kept us up till 2am. We were on the 12th floor and it was still super loud. I also saw reviews saying that the beds were small. They are on the smaller side but very comfortable. The last bit of info is, I am always weary about third party hotel sites because something can always go wrong so I called the hotel directly to ask about prices and availability. I called twice before checking in to make sure it was a good room and that we would get what we asked for at the price offered on other sites. Finally, the service was great and the room we were given was beautiful. All in all a good stay. read more

We were pleased with our room. The hotel was very clean from the front door throughout. They did a good job making up the room during our two stayovers (nights) and made the room look like it did when we walked in the first time. Location was great for our needs, near the mall and various sights. It was worth the room rate and we will definitely stay again. The towels are huge which I also like; so many hotels give a bath towel that barely covers while this one gives a real bath sheet that goes around almost twice! Perhaps the only flaw was that our floor (12th) is the only one without an ice machine or vending but that is not enough of a criticism to downgrade from 5 stars. One other note; I really appreciate hotels that do not put their TV's in "hospitality mode," limiting access to other inputs and devices. We travel with kids and need to be able to use the fireTV stock or similar for Netflix and other distractions. Some people even use Nintendo switch or whatever to keep the kids busy. This hotel does NOT have its TV's locked down and I appreciate that as a traveler. We will definitely stay here again! read more

The location is excellent and the lobby is lovely with some nice architectural touches. Elevators tiny but quaint. The room was small and had a musty smell. Fortunately I could open a window but none the less unpleasant. The bed was very comfortable and the TV was large! I went to my event and came back and all nite the toilet ran water every 15 minutes or so, and there was a beep in the room-not sure what battery was low. I told this to the front desk upon check out and they refunded me $25. This fee is racked onto your bill as a service fee. I don't see that this hotel has any spectacular amenities to charge a fee. I was very disappointed. I won't stay there again. read more

The hotel is undergoing renovation. You must walk around the building to a back staircase to get in, and wind your way up a back flight of stairs with your suitcase. I did not see an ADA-accessible option to get into the hotel, but perhaps one is available upon request. Moreover, there is no dining room during renovation. Therefore, no breakfast is available for purchase. Our room smelled like smoke when we arrived, and both my Hamilton roommate and I have asthma. The smoke created some breathing issues for both people. However, the beds were very comfortable, and hotel staff members were relatively responsive to the smoke issue. There is also a Starbucks close to the hotel that offers a small discount to hotel patrons. It is likely that some of the issues currently seen will be resolved upon renovation completion. I look forward to seeing future reviews of the Hamilton to find out. read more

The room is a mix of modern and classic, with a super comfortable bed. Yes, the room is a bit small, but you're in a city. Despite the noise on the street (a nearby club right across the street) I could only hear sirens. I brought a white noise machine and heard absolutely nothing with that at night. Small touches made the stay. For example, we were given a 'sleep well' kit that had yummy creams to sooth away tourist's remorse from a long day on your feet. We brought our dogs and I'm pleased with their dog policy. They charge an initial fee but on our leaving our room was inspected and the refund issued. Also the gym was clean and had a lot of decent machines. Well located - we easily walked to the mall and (not as easily) to numerous monuments. We realized the last day that their bike share has a station a block away from the hotel and definitely improved getting around. read more

We decided on spur of the moment weekend trip to DC after my parents offered to look after our son. We had been planning on visiting DC for a while so I went on Kayak and got a great deal on this hotel for less than $100 per night. And, the best part about it is that it was a short walk from all the tourist locations such as the white house, the national mall, and the Smithsonian Museums. The good: 1. The hotel lobby area was very luxurious, attractive, and cosy with plenty of chairs and couches to sit in. 2. The staff seemed friendly. 3. The hotel had a great bar and restaurant on the bottom floor although it was extremely pricey. With how hot it was and how soon everything shuts down in DC we decided to stay put. I loved the breakfast buffet as there was everything imaginable that you could want but it was roughly $20 per person. The bad: 1. Wifi was not free so I ended up using my iPhone to access the internet. I think it's time for me to invest in Mifi. 2. There was a snot rocket that was stuck on the shower wall that bothered me. Everything was spotless so I can't understand how that was overlooked. I'm not an anal person so I didn't call anyone up to clean it. read more

Initially I wanted to give this hotel a much higher review. Even though the room was not ready until almost 4, it was lovely. Unfortunately that's where the stars stop. Customer service is almost non existent. My husband and I were going to share some wine. When I opened the bottle it was as filled with water. I tried calling the front desk, concierge, anywhere to let them know, but no answer. Then we wanted to order some items for breakfast that wet on the I room dining menu to be delivered by 6:15 only to be told that the in room dining brochure wasn't correct and actually there was no room service before 6:30. I was told someone would come up to the room to take our order. A staff member finally came and told me the in house dining menu wasn't correct. read more

I love this hotel! From the moment I arrived I felt very welcomed by the persons at the entryway to the front office staff. The rooms are very clean and welcoming after a long day of exploring in this busy city. You can't beat the location- it's within walking distance to all your top places to visit, and restaurants! There is a great happy hour at the bar- everyday, which is a nice way to unwind. There's a bakery across the street and a CVS nearby for any essentials you may have forgotten. I definitely plan to stay here again for my next visit to DC. I also thank the manager, Mr. Sidhu, for his courtesy and professionalism in dealing with some minor issues I encountered. Great location. Rooms are stylish, bathrooms are small. Remember this is an older hotel. Nice staff, but if you need something from front desk keep track of your request as you may have to follow up. Restaurant needs to offer more simple options... sometimes you just want to sit at bar, drink and have a burger. read more

Gorgeous hotel with teeny-tiny, but very nicely appointed rooms. At least mine was. Excellent location close to everything.
