This place is beautiful!! We came up the Saturday before thanksgiving. The trees' leaves were changing colors and just beginning to fall. We had a site right on the lake, but I believe all the sites were lakeside. The craziest part of the trip was the fact that there were only 15 other sites being used. We have an RV but there was also primitive camping. Our dogs loved the great long walks we were able to take enjoying the wonderful weather as we strolled. There is a boat ramp, playground, and plenty of picnic areas. It is also very close to Augusta and plenty of grocery stores if you forget or need anything. It did rain one day so we went into Evans and saw a movie. We will be back in the summer to enjoy the lake!!

Hamilton branch was very accommodating for late arrivals. It was easy for us to come in and get set up even though we didn't arrive until about 10 pm. However, the bathroom set up is not so great. We both thought they should have more than one shower stall for each gender in the bath houses. We had to drive around to find one that was open so that we could shower. They also weren't very clean well maintained. I know this sounds harsh but I have stayed at MANY state parks and this bathroom set up is probably the worst I've experienced. The views were beautiful of the lake! Overall we did enjoy our stay.

One thing you'll love about this campground is EVERYTHING! They have a putt putt course, pioneer home to view, marina close by, pioneer camping, cabins (new Cabins as well), premium camping with electricity, onsite store, boat ramps, picnic areas, group camping, shelters, trails and beautiful lakeside views. They also have old school bathrooms and newer family bathrooms. Other amenities include a playground and baseball court. They used to have swing sets near the bathrooms and a rickety wooden merry-go-round but I'm guessing those met their demise in the 90s. I do hate that there are no photos of those items, as i have found childhood memories of swinging on the swings and being thrown off the merry go round. The camping here is popular, and it's obvious why. They have everything you need and enough space away from the next camp site. We come more for the nostalgia, and I love reminiscing over my childhood. I do recommend that you hit the gas station across the bridge (leaving left out of the park) for wood ... you get more wood for your buck. At least that's what my girlfriend says. If you want a supreme camping experience, this is it!

After walking around and scouting out other spots, could not really rule out any spot that I couldn't get in. The only thing bad about camping is the other people. No consideration for others wanting to take advantage of a relaxing weekend. Packing up and pulling out between 4:30-6:00am is beyond me. Anyways. Good place. Bath houses are okay, just bring your shower shoes. Bring your own fire wood too
