Great place. Great staff. Horrible dog ownership. Nothing done about excessive barking. One particular spot was an actual host. Host just allowed dogs to bark continuously without intervening. Told staff but not sure they did anything. If so, it was ignored. Host shouldn't be allowed to stay if they can't or don't keep their 3 dogs under control. read more

This place has been a go-to since my childhood. It sits on the Georgia/South Carolina border on Strom Thurmond Lake, aka Clark's Hill Lake. One thing you'll love about this campground is EVERYTHING! They have a putt putt course, pioneer home to view, marina close by, pioneer camping, cabins (new Cabins as well), premium camping with electricity, onsite store, boat ramps, picnic areas, group camping, shelters, trails and beautiful lakeside views. They also have old school bathrooms and newer family bathrooms. Other amenities include a playground and baseball court. They used to have swing sets near the bathrooms and a rickety wooden merry-go-round but I'm guessing those met their demise in the 90s. I do hate that there are no photos of those items, as i have found childhood memories of swinging on the swings and being thrown off the merry go round. The camping here is popular, and it's obvious why. They have everything you need and enough space away from the next camp site. We come more for the nostalgia, and I love reminiscing over my childhood. I do recommend that you hit the gas station across the bridge (leaving left out of the park) for wood ... you get more wood for your buck. At least that's what my girlfriend says. Such an amazing state park. The staff and rangers were friendly and helpful. The campsites are large. The bathrooms aren't awesome, but it is a campground bathroom so expectations aren't high. I think it depends on where you are staying for what type of bathroom you'll be next to. BUT the bathrooms were clean, which is most important! I can't wait to come back here! read more

A quiet park in the winter! There are some 50 amp sites. All sites have water and power. Fire pit and table. Sites are very clean. The bathhouses are in need of work. We stayed last year at the same time and the same showers are still not working. Laundry facility available and the dryer works well. The rangers and store are well equipped and friendly. Ice and firewood are available along with souvenirs and some basic camping supplies. read more

Beautiful and clean state park! Wonderful views of the river wherever you are. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Comfort stations were clean, just outdated. We saw geese and deer! We enjoyed outer time there! The area is a tad remote and not a lot of restaurants near by. We were looking for one and they were closed either for good or closed early. Had to go into SC for a grocery store. But that's not big deal, just plan accordingly. read more

This was a great park. I've recently moved to the area and this was a great introduction to the outdoor opportunities here. The staff was very friendly and the park was extremely well maintained. There was virtually no one here when my group went. It felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. I figure this might change in the summer. Reservations can be made online or over the phone. Facilities included bathrooms. Unsure as to whether or not there were showers, but that's likely because I was in the primitive tent camping area. Park also offers RV spots and group camping. If you go be sure to check out Backpaddle Brewing which is only about a mile away! Awesome food and service. read more

Beautiful park & very peaceful until Saturday night. Ridiculous traffic and noise. Large party with excessively loud music and children completely unsupervised. If you come, visit during the week. We loved it Thursday & Friday. Clarks Hill Lake is beautiful despite being low. Disappointing end to an otherwise great extended weekend. read more

I love Elijah Clark State Park. We have gone there for years to enjoy family outings. As a child we have picnics and I enjoyed eating Popsicles on the benches. There are a lot of activities and they even have lots of information online about the park. Go, check it out! read more

This was our first actual camping trip (tent, cooking on the grill outside, etc.) but my family camps every year and this was their first time at this site. Everyone enjoyed themselves (including our dog ), the staff in the general store were really nice, the bathrooms were kept as clean as possible for it to be a camp ground (I can literally count the amount of times it didn't smell appealing and I believe that was only twice and we stayed for 4/3). The toilet paper/paper towels stayed replenished and the toilets were clean. Now the shower definitely needs a good scrub down because it is well overdue for some bleach especially with the soap scum build up but I can tell it's being attended to even if it's not as much as it should be so I lived with that. The views of the water were beautiful, the scenery was as equally beautiful however they had terrible cell phone service. BUT the good thing about that is that you can step away from the business of life (and social media) and enjoy much needed quality time. This location is a must repeat for us! Also, every camp site has a bench/table, charcoal grill and a personal water pump! We'll probably go back in the fall so we can go fishing! read more

This is truly a 5 star state park campground! Situated right on a peninsula with camping, beach and boat launch. Excellent amenities such as mini golf, fun playgrounds, small Hannah's Kitchen that serves dogs, nachos and ice cream for $1-1.50, great prices! A few great hiking trails and picnic shelters too. My kids and have enjoyed our day visit here! read more

An incredible number of amazing campsites they probably have over 100 campsites right on the water. May be the most great campsites I've ever seen for a state park. They even have putt putt golf. read more

We just returned from 4 nights at Elijah State Park where we rented a cottage that accepted pets. All of the cabins are 2 bdrm, 1 bath which are completely furnished. The cabins have 4 full beds which is supposed to sleep 8 but it would be hard for 2 adults to sleep in one of these beds. The bedding appeared to be cleaned and each bed had 3 pillows. The cabins definitely need some updating. The bathroom needs the most updating as the faucets were corroded, the vents were missing a lot of paint and base boards were dirty. I think that the price was a little high for 2 people and maybe the cabin should be based on the number of people staying in the cabin. The park itself seems nice but several things closed due to Covid-19 and the fishing was accessible from many locations. The main thing they need to add is WiFi. In today's world we rely on communicating by phone and text and a signal was very hard to get. read more

I didn't deal at all with the park office, so this review is for the park. The camp sites are basically gravel, so bring an air mattress, but they are decent sized, stocked with water and electricity, cheap, and have great views! The bathrooms were within walking distance and were cleaned several times throughout the day. The lake is okay, the water is a little murkey and debrised, but plenty of places to go exploring! Only two tents can stay on each site, so three people ended up sharing one site. We each payed $15 and that covered the site for the entire weekend. You have to pay $5 for a parking pass and I'm pretty sure they are anal about checking this. read more
