We were there in April, and found the campground to be very quiet and peaceful all 5 days we were there. Over the weekend, even with the campground filling up, it was still peaceful. The spots are well distanced from each other. It was a bit cold for swimming, but we did walk to the edge and try fishing. My only complaint is the online booking - there is a lack of photos of each site, and it's really hard to tell what the access to the water looks like. Some of the spots have an easier access to get into the water than others, especially for small children. We used campsitephotos.com to get an idea of what the sites looked like.

It's best to come drive around and scope out which one you want first because some of these have amazing views! Site 54 has a great view and access to the lake about 20 yards away. We were originally parked in a spot that was un-level. They were open to us moving to another open spot for our stay. I also had a camper leak the first night. Staff left me use tools to fix the problem while my husband was at work. Of course, he had all of our tools with him lol. Since moving spots eve thing has been great! They have a small store for buying drinks and chips. The have a place to wash clothes or sit and enjoy the camp fire. They have a playground for children. Quiet place and the neighbors have been friendly. Everything is about 30 minutes away so be prepared to drive to get to things. If you are looking for quiet and getting out into nature this is the spot for you. They have WiFi, picnic tables and fire pits/grills. Most spots are in shaded areas. Keeps the camper cool at the heat of the day.

I recently arranged a boat rental with Big Water for an assorted group of family members. Some of…read morethese people can be pretty vocal about their feelings, and NOBODY had anything bad to say! From the first employee we encountered at the gate (very nice young lady who gave good directions) to the last everyone was friendly, professional and helpful. The boat (pontoon) was clean, in good repair, and powered by a Mercury engine. I mention this because Mercury engines have a longstanding reputation for reliability. So, one less thing to worry about. I should also mention that my wife is disabled, so getting into the boat was a little more difficult for her. The employees at Big Water didn't hesitate to come to her aid and make the process as easy as possible. It was a small thing, but it meant a lot to us! Lake Hartwell was beautiful, and I would absolutely rent from Big Water again!

When we arrived, we were told that none of their boats could be used for tubing, and that we should have known this because the boats only have 115 hp. That's false -- 115 hp is plenty for tubing. This was the first of several lies, especially since tubing limitations were never mentioned anywhere on their website or in the rental agreement. When we asked about the missing anchor, we were told it was left off because "foreigners" steal them as souvenirs. That excuse was as offensive as it was absurd. On top of that: the speedometer was broken, there was no way to gauge depth, and the seat was ripped. We used the boat anyway since it was Labor Day weekend and there were no other rental options available, but it made for a miserable day on the water with a boat that fell far short of what was advertised. Staff were rude and refused to offer a working replacement. Bottom line: poor equipment, poor communication, and poor customer service. I'd look elsewhere.

But the cabins are awesome and right on the lake. Very cheap per night also because you can sleep so many people in them. They also have full kitchens and bathrooms. Theres a frisbee golf course here too which I have yet to try. if you go here for the golf though you will enjoy yourself, the course is awesome. At&T has very weak if any service in the park so plan accordingly.
