Went here for Thunder over evans and absolutely loved it! The concert was absolutely amazing, and the fireworks show was definitely better than anything I'd ever seen. They really were not lying when they said it would be the biggest fireworks show in the south. The park is large enough to accommodate everyone, well maintained, and I definitely think the event is one everyone should see.

This place is very beautiful! The grass is well kept an they have a nice side walk trail for people to walk around. The park for the kids is nice with shade and benches and they have a dog park, a stage area, a lot of space to play on the grass! Maybe some frisbee, soccer, football, catch, baseball and a gazebo with a beautiful water fountain.

We attended the Venardo's Circus on Wednesday evening which was opening night for them here and the first time they had been in our region. What a stellar experience! It was magic! A small group of about 15 total real circus and performance professionals that do the setup of the tent to the ticket taking and working the concessions booth during intermission and breakdown and clean up of everything afterwards and during it all they put on one hell of a show. Multi-national, family acts (even some multigenerational), totally family friendly experience with a lot of crowd interaction, a wonderful red and white big top tent that is the perfect size and every single seat inside is a great view. It is such a great circus! There is even an old school flea circus act. This is nostalgia and incredible performance all in one. It is an experience I will hold dear forever and a little bit of dreamy magic that I for one hope to have more of for years to come. Keep the dream alive, invite some whimsy and fun into your life, and go visit this incredible circus.

My kids love this place. It has a big, fun, safe playground & water spouts for when it gets hot out.

Since she's only a puppy, we wanted to wait until she stopped running over the smaller dogs and people alike before taking her to a public place where she'd be free to roam and sniff other dogs. The penned in dog area is a great place for a well behaved dog to stretch his/her legs out and chase other dogs. If you've got a smaller pet under 25 lbs. a separate area is available in case the bigger dogs get a little rowdy and while we were there, we saw many pet parents take refuge from the rambunctious packs of Rottweilers, Staffordshire Terriers and Retrievers. There's a little grass but mainly a lot of sand for the dogs to run and roll around in which is ideal for digging but that habit is definitely frowned upon. For pet parents, there's a bench area so you can watch your dog and take a breather and plenty of other dog owners so dog training hints can get swapped and play dates made. The con of such a large open space is when a dog falls in love with another dog and inappropriate humping takes place. I had to take matters into my own hands when trying to get my girl through the first set of gates when a persistent pursuer wouldn't get off her back-literally. The owner was too busy paying attention to the other dogs and had no clue what was going on. So if your dog is not altered, pay close attention otherwise you might be an unintentional grandparent to an unexpected litter. 19/2014

The park is secure with a passcode for that purpose. We enjoy our visits!

I actually brought both of my humans and they made some friends while I cooled off in the pool. I love seeing them off leash without a care in the world. There's a bathing suite optional pool but please keep your humans out. I Had a chance to chase a labradoodle, he was quite the stud and we definitely hit it off. Not gonna lie I'm hoping to run into him more often. There's also a trail area with a nice shaded area to relax but my human kept wanting to play throw so I obliged and chased after the ball for him. The park does require a membership for your human. All human owners must be current on required shots and spayed/neutered. The Barking Lot is open during normal park hours.* There are no day passes and the cost is $40 per year. This does not include the cost to get into the park ($45 per year or $5 per visit) The barking lot is closed on Tuesdays from 9-11 for maintenance. Some things I suggest you bring: -Towel or rag to wipe off after the pool - If you have wipes, bring them to clean drool off your face. Canines are known for wet kisses and greet each other this way. - There is plenty of water but if you must drink filtered bring your own - poop bags ... There are some at the park but my human has had to improvise because they ran out. He can be so creative sometimes. Remember to make sure you don't eat right before coming to play. Each side has water stations, about 8 poop bag stations, benches some with umbrellas, fire hydrants that spray water, and activities to keep your dog entertained. The only thing that I don't like about the dog park is the lack of shade for dogs. They have two bench areas on each side that have umbrella covering but it's more for the owners of the pets than anything. Seeing as it gets extremely hot here during the summer months some shade for the pups would be nice. I was warned that when it's extremely hot, the rocks makes your dog's paw pads burst. :(

There's a museum, house and grounds tour, natural trails, big fields for kids to run around in, and beautiful gardens to enjoy. The house tour was great and our guide was extremely knowledge. They did a fantastic job of striking a good line between not white washing history but also not painting all historical figures as purely evil people - that's a hard balance to achieve but they did it. The house is really a spectacular architectural achievement and you should absolutely do a tour if you come here. The library alone is worth the entry fee. There's also several original outbuildings which are even more unique since many of those are not preserved on other plantations. The nature trails and grounds are also great to just walk around in. A visitor center was open, though it was surrounded by what the park ranger called "garden spiders", which are not aggressive towards humans and whose bite, if provoked, is painful but not deadly. I've seen Australia-level spiders and lived to tell the tale, but these were definitely no joke; arachnophobes beware. The site includes a mansion, a cactus garden for some reason, and a variety of other buildings. Notably, the slave quarters housed extensive exhibitions. I'm not sure if this park was always so given the way history is treated in some parts of the south, but at least now it has a thorough historical take. I did not have time for the tour, but one can reasonably hope that whatever tour guide you get it will be worthwhile.

They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.
