We stopped here on the way home from San Diego. Not in the best neighborhood, but if you are going through the drive through its OK. It is a Weinersnitczel (so sue me I can't spell it). Food is decent, made fresh and correct. Can't complain but wont go out of my way to come back. read more

Well, I used to live near a different location, so I figured why not? They may be still owned by Wienerschnitzel because the chili dog was on par, but the cheeseburgers were worse than McDonalds.... you get what you pay for... and that is why I avoid McDonald's.... Easily the worst hamburger stand I've been too. Long wait times and incorrect orders are regular events here.

I come here sometimes for burgers, other times for chili cheese dogs. The chili dogs take me back many years ago. They are almost the chili dogs we had as children. It is pretty cheap, I have not had the long waits, maybe lucky I guess. I grab this food to go and eat in the vehicle. read more

This place gave me food poisoning. I threw up everywhere like the Exorcist. My wife had to drive me to the hospital and I eventually had to pay the +$300 bill. I had three chili dogs. read more

Fa-fa-fa FIRST!!! Ok so this is the next fast food restaurant when you get off the freeway and head over to the federal court. I come out this way about 6-7 times a year to take of biz-nass, and sometimes I don't have enough to time to hit Burgers & Brew, so I grab a bite at a fast food restaurant. I'm working my way down Imperial Ave- first KFC- now this place- Hamburger Stand. It's actually a Hamburger Stand, wienerschnitzel & tastee freeze all rolled into one. Like every restaurant in El Centro, it was bizarrely crowded. All of the value meals were built around the Hamburgers- I actually wanted a hot dog, so I had to forego the ole' value meal. Shucks. Everything was clean and well maintained. You could do worse in el centro. read more

I love hamburger stand. There is just something about their burgers that can't find it anywhere else. Every time I'm in the valley I just go to Hamburger Stand. In and Out, Habit Burger, and pretty much all the other burger joints are available everywhere else, but not HS. Nothing beats the place. Even though Hamburger Stand takes so long to give you your food it is worth the wait when good customer service is provided. Tonight I went thru the drive thru, no cars in front or behind us, and dining area was not busy, the person taking our order took a few minutes before saying anything over the speaker. While taking our order she kept pausing in between for about a minute each time. We get to the window and they had repeated the order and it was wrong. I asked them to fix it and when given my receipt I notice they had removed several items from our order. After two tries and over 15 minutes of waiting to just order I ask for a refund. Another ten minutes later and the two girls at the window finally open the window to tell me the manager is on the way to fix the problem (because they couldn't- after multiple tries) and give me my refund. The manager gets there and after another few minutes opens up and hands us our refund. I ask her if she is the manager and she replies yes and that she took our order as well and she is sure she typed in the order as asked. I politely repeated to her what we said at the order window and she is arguing back at me in an extremely rude manner. I tell her that I am more upset at how long it took to resolve the issue and she is still arguing and I tell her she should just be apologizing instead of arguing when she slams the drive thru window and walks away. The window slammed so hard it popped open on its own and I said thank you and we drove off. We were laughing and appalled at her behavior. Thank you to the people who have worked there for years and provide excellent customer service when we go, they totally make it worth the wait. But thanks to people like her I don't plan to return any time soon. She was light complected with reddish orange hair girl. read more

Classic El Centro customer service and bad food! Go elsewhere. This place has never been a favorite of mine, but on a hot summer night the ice cream selections can be a cool treat. Except on this night when I was treated like I was invisible. In my car. In the drive thru. With not one car before me, and not one behind me. Now I have never worked in a fast food restaurant, but I'm sure that even in El Centro the drive thru employee should know when a car has just pulled up to place an order. Apparently the aloof gentleman working tonight enjoyed my questioning if anyone was available to take my order. Several times I asked if anyone was there, and only when the passenger in my car yelled did we finally get to place our order. A few cars did show up behind us, and when we pulled up to the window and paid, we were greeted with that same drab attitude. He handed over our order, a (Freezee Reese's peanut butter cup(which was not worth rating) I thanked him and he chose to ignore me, so I thanked him just a little louder. It appears that he must have never heard the phrase. read more

The majority of the food is solid. The fries are not good: basically tasteless and on the dry/stale side somehow. The service is beyond slow, both in the drive thru and inside. There is always a different trainee working the register when we go in. The line for drive thru seems to last longer than most of the Hamburger Stand employees. read more

Just wanted to add an update here, I have NOT been back yet but figured i would mention this since MAYBE there is some glimmer of light left for the owners of this business. I grew up in the Imperial Valley and when I used to eat at the CLX Hamburger stand it was NEVER as bad as my experience was last year. Just FYI if the excuse EVER comes up that "Sir Fulano" who is in FRONT of you "ordered 75 burgers" what you DO what is VERY INTELLIGENT is ask Mr. Fulano if he can pull OUT to the parking lot and wait in his car while in his car and that someone will run his 75 burger order out to him, rather than block the entire driveway and cause a frikin Driveway artery clog.... it is the SMART thing to do that will make your customers VERY happy because Mr. Fulano will not be blocking the entire driveway while everyone behind him who only ordered 1 or 2 things gets their meal quickly and is able to move out, Mr. Fulano knows his order will take longer so he will totally understand that he has to go park while his food is made and everyone else gets their order quickly taken care of.... just wanted to let you know since over here in the civilized areas of the world (not the Imperial Valley) people's brains have evolved to the point that their Fast Food chains have figured this out. Please accept this criticism with a grain of salt since this is still eating at me that you guys couldn't figure this out. Doing what I just suggest above will make many many more people happy and avoid negative reviews such as my own. I had to post this update because I noticed Mr. Felix S. thinks he is more experienced in the matter because he still lives in the slumps of the world and puts up with BS like this and already expects that as a norm... it is NOT a norm Mr. Felix and nobody should have to be putting up with what I had to put up with when I was there. It is NOT something that should be acceptable and it is THAT mentality that people in the valley have over the crappy service they experience and have come to accept as "normal" that is NOT cool. You guys have to expect to be treated no differently than anyone else outside of the Valley and it is that kind of crappy service that drives the economy OUT and puts an end to most businesses down there. Very smart business folks are familiar with the quote: "Change or Die" that applies to the life of the business. I am so disappointed in this place. If you are ever in a hurry don't even think of getting out of there quick. They have descent food and it's a great spot for the kids but not if you're in a hurry. The really need to work on their customer service. It makes a huge difference when the employees treat you like as if they were glad you were there. If their attitudes changed maybe it wouldn't be such a drag to wait 10+ mins for a single burger. read more

I remember, in 1984 we were a group of more than 9 friends who lived in "Fraccionamiento Residencias" in Mexicali, BC and traveled to El Centro, Ca. by bicycle and got to buy hamburgers at 25 cents, we bought more than 6 hamburgers for Each and we went to Bucklin Park to eat them. After we went to the track of the ABA (American Bicycle Association) and we won to all the first places of the different categories ... Then they climbed to 29, 39 and so ... ... first of all you must understand, the attitude of people who live in elcentro and how they treat other peoples properity. How pushy and demanding and just all around mean distructive careless people. and also realize in a town that historicaly has over 25% unemployment, builds mall's and cant even fix the street's. all being said, over 40 years as a staple in the imperial valley at a value that cant be beat. and a compleate act of god and the owner-not the corpuration its a limited liabilty franchise its private owned,is still standing from all the vandelizm,tagging brake in's and armed robbery. they all come to el centro and they are gone now,born and raised here this place and owner are el centro and the place and people will be sad when its gone!!!! The food is pretty good, especially the Wienerschnitzel menu. It's a budget place but they deliver quality equal to or better-than the price would suggest. I've never experienced bad service even when every kid from the near-by schools is crowding in. In fact, the drive through workers are close to amazing. My only nit-pick is the soda-- they're just a little watery. read more

The last time I went here I was absolutely mortified. I went with my Mom and we had been standing in line for a good 15 minutes, which wasn't a big deal because we weren't in a hurry to get anywhere. The only cashier working (who was in her 50's, or so) was obviously in an unpleasant mood, as she was barking orders at a young guy mopping behind the counter. As she proceeded to scream at him, my Mom and I grew extremely uncomfortable and when it was our turn to order, we were interrupted by her twice, as she continued to bark orders, clearly putting the young man down. My Mom cleared her throat quite loudly and the woman turned toward us and rudely asked "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM?" to which my Mom politely responded "I just don't think it's right that you're talking to him like that." The woman responded by shoving her face up to my Mom's and saying "Don't you dare tell me what I'm allowed to do." My Mom immediately demanded to speak with the manager and the woman announced "I AM THE MANAGER". We did not continue to order our food, but instead asked the young man if he could get us a number so that we could reach someone in Corporate, and he did. We called and reported her in the parking lot. I will NEVER EVER EVER go there again! read more
