It's rice with goat. Pretty filling and the food is wonderfully seasoned.

Went in on a weekday afternoon for filter coffee. Needed to wait for sometime but good coffee. Ambiance was great with wall paintings. Want to go back to try more

Dine in | $20-30 The restaurant has a warm South Indian feel, and the banana-leaf serving style makes the experience feel truly traditional. The decor is inviting, the vibes are great, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was good and tasted authentic, though a few dishes could use a bit more depth. My boys especially loved the Balaji Special Dosa, Chicken 65, and their parottas, which were definitely the highlights for us. A nice bonus is their Biryani and Dosa happy hours in the evening, where these items are half-priced. Overall, a solid South Indian spot with good ambiance, kind staff, and a few standout dishes the kids really enjoyed. Food: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 Noise level Very quiet Wait time Up to 10 min

The happy hour dosa and biryani is worth the visit alone! Great deal, great portion, and deliciously complex flavors that hits the spot! So convenient being located in the food row area by Pizza my Heart and Wingstop. Everything we ate was 10 out 10 and the service was so kind and warm that we felt welcomed the moment we walked in and dining out.

I'm writing this review in the middle of out meal. Not even waiting until the end.. wow. This is a good place, we were gonna go to Pizza my heart next-door and lucky lucky lucky us. This opened up right next to them so giving it a first shot and oh my God awesome food awesome service and the place looks good. Atmosphere is good. We'll be definitely making this a regular spot

I feel like I've been gatekeeping this LOL because I definitely don't see enough people taking advantage. It's such a good value and very tasty! I personally always get the bowl with butter chicken and grilled chicken kabob, but they have several to choose from like fish/shrimp/paneer/biryani. Everything on the business lunch menu is priced between about $20-$25. You can't beat that! If you look at the pic I posted you'll see they gave me: rice, butter chicken, some salad and sliced cucumbers, chicken kabob, papadum, and a malabar-style roti. I also asked for some mint green chutney on the side and they happily obliged. The menu price when i went was $21. For this price you are eating a very tasty meal at an upscale restaurant for lunch. I have been here several times for the same meal so I can vouch that it is consistently fresh and always tastes authentic. What I also like is that while the restaurant is upscale it's not a snooty upscale, you can come in and feel casual about it, especially since it's just lunch. Ok so there you have it, I know I've been gatekeeping it for so long, but go out and try it! Even if you work from home or are alone one day, get out of the house and have a good time :)

Now, for Jaks' review -- there are a few areas to take note 1) They were understaffed. The restaurant was packed, but it took a while for staff to take our order and for the food to come. Time spent here was mostly waiting. 2) Waitresses who delivered the food did not know what items they were bringing. 3) Their dishes are aesthetically pleasing but flavor is not there. According to my Indian coworkers, the food is not "authentic" and it's more tailored to American taste. 4) The amount of food compared to price did not match. I ordered a Awadhi Nihari and a mocktail that came to $60 without tax or tip. I did not leave with a full stomach -- I went home and ate more.

Sometimes it's a difference in taste, sometimes the food doesn't meet expectations. That comes with running a restaurant, and it deserves a respectful response, especially when the review was written in good faith. A few things in your reply aren't what happened. We asked whether the prawns in the thali could be swapped for surmai. Your staff said no and we went ahead with our original order. We never said we wouldn't pay extra. We were only asking if it was possible, and nobody said that paying more would make it possible. The mutton was not finished. Only one piece and a spoonful of gravy were eaten, and the rest of the pieces were still on the plate. The chicken replacement was offered by your staff, not requested by us. When it was offered, we asked if paplet was an option. We did not say we wouldn't pay for it. We tipped over 22% because your team made an effort to make up for the mutton. If we wanted expensive food for cheap, we wouldn't have tipped that generously. I wish you and your business all the best.

You go to the counter, they present you with menus and tell you where to sit, then you come back up to the counter when you're ready to order. Service was welcoming and helpful. We got the lunch special, which has pre-selected items for the day. One of the items was an item i was going to order separately, but decided to switch it out when I heard it was going to be in the special. The employee helpfully offered some popular alternatives. The food was absolutely delicious! A good amount of spice and not like some of the places more local to me. (I'm from Sac.) We ordered the following: Special Lunch Thali, Pav Bhaji, and Puranpoli. The only time I could've done without was the Puranpoli. I didn't care for the flavor of the spice/sweetness, but that's just me personally. I've never had that dessert before from anywhere and knew I'd regret not having the menu item that is the same as the restaurant's name. Definitely going to be craving the food from here! Wish I lived closer.

Misal Pav & Vada Misal - Absolutely loved the Misal! Authentic flavor, perfect spice level, and so hearty. I especially appreciated that it wasn't just sprouted moong--there was moong, matki, yellow peas, black-eyed peas, and green peas. A true protein-packed bowl. Two thumbs up Vada Pav - Another hit! We devoured it Sabudana Vada - Crispy outside, soft inside, and just the right size. Didn't care much for the chutney though. Sabudana Khichdi - This one didn't work for me; it leaned a bit too sweet. Ukadiche Modak & Puranpoli - The stars of the meal! Highly recommend both. The modak was soft, pillowy, and melt-in-your-mouth with a great dough-to-filling balance. The Puranpoli was super soft, ultra-thin dough, and perfectly flavored stuffing--excellent in both taste and quantity Sol Kadhi - Just okay for me; not something I'd return specifically for. Kokam Sharbat - Loved it! Overall, a wonderful spot for authentic Maharashtrian flavors with warm, welcoming staff. I'd definitely come back!

At first I thought that tiffin will be enough for us but then my kids quickly gobbled the idli and mini dosa and wanted more. So I ordered another plate of only idlis( has 3 big soft fluffy ones) and also took advantage of the happy hour to order a masala dosa for me. I am not the kind of mom who eats kids leftovers all the time. So I wanted my own dosa. For drinks, I did a medium strong filter coffee ( they make it to your customization and I was surprised to see they even had jaggery). My 9 year old took a mango lassi. Food was incredibly satisfying. Servers are very attentive and they came three times to our table offering more chutney and sambhar. We already had enough but if you like more sambhar and chutney with your food, this is heaven. One server even came with ghee for my little ones for idlis. I was so grateful. He was genuinely sweet to my kid. Felt a connection than just a business! Ambiance is classy and relaxed at the same time. Nobody gave me the side eye when my three year old was a little noisy. Have a corner for takeout containers for leftover food, very generous. I would highly recommend this place for its delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. They have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm and when we went at 5.30, the restaurant was more than 70% full on a Thursday. Eat early and save money too. We really had a very good time! The food quality was good but it's not without its issues. First it was a lunch thali and there was no Sambar as part of the thali. Strange! When we checked with the folks there, we were told that since we had Mor Kolambu as part of the thali they don't give sambar. More strange ! Next the appalam. It was not warm and it was stale and it was soft like roti. We complained and got another appalam and it was no different! Though no complaints about quality the variety seemed very blah. The quantity was more than adequate but they could have reduced it and given more variety of items. We had white sundal and also black sundal in the veggies. Why ? Also no roti or poori included with the thali! So overall we liked the food, but don't think we will come here for thali. There are far better options around the bay.
