I really wanted to focus my time and energy on making the reception hall look magnificent and from the very beginning she just got my whole concept and executed things exactly the way I wanted. She had me send her examples of bouquets I liked, flowers I liked, flower colors, I sent her a sample of what I wanted my reception to look like and a sample of my invitation, everything possible so that she could really get my theme-- and boy did she get it! I gave her my budget and she worked with it and I got everything that I wanted (think calalillies, monzenita branches, philenopsis orchids, high vases, low vases, lots of bling, etc.). At the last minute I even said that I would like some sort of an arch for my ceremony and I told her I only had $500 for it and she said she could do it and in the end that was the best looking archway I've ever seen with monzenita branches with strands of white orchirds, strands of jewels, and strands with little glass ornaments with a single white orchid in them hanging down from the archway. EVERYONE, and I mean everyone, said that the floral arrangements were breathtaking and that everything looked so posh and luxuirous; that they've never been to a reception like ours before and I attribute this to her designs! At the end of everything I told her that I truly felt like she was my hanai mom and I meant it. She was a dream come true and anyone would be blessed to work her!

We hired Moana Belle and started planning an elaborate destination wedding nine months before the COVID-19 crisis. We selected a place with special meaning to us, and proceeded to invest time and money as we worked with Lena to carefully curate a once-in-a-lifetime experience for 64 of our friends and family. Throughout that time, Lena and Moana Belle were great. They understood our style and priorities. Their planning and personalized recommendations demonstrated a spot-on understanding of us, our venue, and of tasteful design. Their coordination with our venue and vendors was seamless. Their communication was well-balanced and organized. And as I later learned, Lena frequently went to bat for us behind the scenes. As we and our guests packed our bags and began traveling half-way around the world, uncertainty percolated surrounding COVID-19. She stood by our side as vendors and venues were all over the board; their decision-making ran the gamut from thoughtful and interactive to frantic and opaque--often changing by the hour. An event we had all spent months meticulously planning was entirely upended. And a significant sum of money was at risk of being completely lost. On the fly, Lena helped us plan an entirely new wedding--only to plan another one or two after that. I like to equate her work as that of a chess master crushing a game while the chessboard constantly moved and the pieces simultaneously transformed. Her son, blew the Pu, and it was gorgeous! Blowing the Pu is no easy feat! Our musician Henry was so warm and kind. We thought he might only play music during some parts of the wedding but he picked songs throughout which made the ceremony feel more magical. Debbie, our photographer was extremely easy to work with and would coach us on where and how to stand so that we would have flattering photos. We planned the wedding in two months, so we didn't have the year leading up to the wedding to get fit! Debbie still managed to make us look absolutely stunning. We had a few sets of photos that we absolutely wanted and Debbie was really open to making those shots happen. This was an unbelievably affordable option for getting married and I can assure you, the quality was not compromised in any way. The icing on the cake was when Kahu Pomaika'i included my aunt and uncle's daughter (who could not make it to Oahu) in her blessing. Kahu Pomaika'i took a moment to chat with my aunt and uncle before the ceremony and learned that one of their kids could not make it.
