I worked with Fong (through my event planner) for my proposal in late February. Fong is truly an artist. With relatively limited input she managed to truly capture my girlfriend's personality in her floral work. Despite its size (the penthouse suite at the O'ahu Four Seasons), Fong's work made the location feel intimate and ours. We ended up using some of the flowers in our engagement shoot the next day (she said yes!), and they held up throughout our stay. Listen, Fong isn't cheap, but this is one of those "you get what you pay for" kind of deals. Beautiful craftsmanship with tons of initiative. The best thing that happened to me was meeting Fong, owner of Floral Inspirations. Fong is WONDERFUL! Besides meeting her once for our consultation she stayed in constant contact with me throughout the whole wedding process through phone or email. I really wanted to focus my time and energy on making the reception hall look magnificent and from the very beginning she just got my whole concept and executed things exactly the way I wanted. She had me send her examples of bouquets I liked, flowers I liked, flower colors, I sent her a sample of what I wanted my reception to look like and a sample of my invitation, everything possible so that she could really get my theme-- and boy did she get it! I gave her my budget and she worked with it and I got everything that I wanted (think calalillies, monzenita branches, philenopsis orchids, high vases, low vases, lots of bling, etc.). At the last minute I even said that I would like some sort of an arch for my ceremony and I told her I only had $500 for it and she said she could do it and in the end that was the best looking archway I've ever seen with monzenita branches with strands of white orchirds, strands of jewels, and strands with little glass ornaments with a single white orchid in them hanging down from the archway. EVERYONE, and I mean everyone, said that the floral arrangements were breathtaking and that everything looked so posh and luxuirous; that they've never been to a reception like ours before and I attribute this to her designs! I absolutely love Fong! She is AMAZING and crazy creative! During our first call, she immediately understood my vision and worked with me to make sure I was comfortable with everything. With the closure of the Ihilani mid-planning, Fong was right there coming up with solutions, being incredibly understanding and working within my budget drafted a slightly different floral plan for my wedding. Admittedly, I am not artistically creative, so I really trusted in Fong's expertise and creativity for my wedding. I told her I wanted an orchid extravaganza with a refined and elegant taste. I also told her that I wanted to stay from from big "bridal" arrangements for a more contemporary style. Fong did not disappoint. I had beautiful bouquets and centerpieces, but the one thing I will always remember is her ceremony aisle petal arrangement - designed from my wedding invitation (it had orchids too) . It was so special and thoughtful, I almost didn't walk down the aisle because I didn't want to ruin it! In agreement with some of the other reviewers, Fong is not just an amazing florist, she really is an artist. Be open to her suggestions, let her understand you as a person, and give her the space to design something amazing just for you. I had one phone call with Fong to discuss the floral needs for our wedding at Four Seasons. I didn't even show her the color/picture of the bridesmaids dresses... and she was able to match/deliver the most perfect flowers to go with their dresses!! I had to tell her that it wasn't really pink, and not really peach or coral... but it is a flamingo pink! Let me tell ya, she nailed it! I also told her NO roses and I just wanted tropical/Hawaiian flowers. Orchids were perfect! I also asked for a hint of blue, and she nailed that as well! Overall, I absolutely fell in love with my bouquet. And she also provided the lei's for groom and groomsmen as well as hair for me and bridesmaids. The only hard part is sometimes with the email communication because of how busy she is, but she does respond! Just may take a week, but sometimes she responds very quick. From the photos I've seen, floral inspiration creates very pretty floral arrangements. From the communication with this vendor, it's pretty much non-existent. I contacted FI via email, the owner (fong) got back to me promptly with a follow up email with an order form for me to fill out. First off I would like to preface that I don't know much about florals and how much they cost (hence why I needed the expertise of a experienced florist). Anyways, after I filled out the form, I never got a response. After a follow up email, I still never got a response... So in the end even though there are rave reviews I didn't get a chance to work with her cause I was never taken into consideration to be a client. read more

I can't say enough good things about Fong. She did the flowers for our Oahu wedding. Adorable, personable, professional, and so talented! Our wedding coordinator recommended her and she was great. She is so earnest and you can tell she really wants to make your day beautiful and in your style. We live in California and talked on the phone before meeting. I sent her pictures of my dress, shoes, etc. as well as a Pinterest page and I was amazed at what she did. It was EXACTLY what I wanted and more. I cannot put into words how awesome Fong/Floral Inspirations is! We found her on the list of The Wedding Cafe florist vendors and after interviewing 2 other vendors, decided that Fong was the florist for us! She was really nice and super knowledgeable about flowers and seemed like she would be someone we could put our trust in. We didn't really have any particular ideas in mind for the flowers so we set a budget and let Fong create some truly beautiful arrangements! The ceremony and reception sites were transformed by the gorgeous flowers/arrangements/centerpieces! With the leftover flowers the cake was decorated at no charge. The girl's bouquets and boy's boutonnieres were really nice too. She put vases on the head table for the girl's bouquets to go in, which added to the tablescape with the existing flowers (plus there isn't a really good place to put bouquets during dinner/after the ceremony anyways). From the moment we got in touch with Fong, she was able to truly understand my vision and add her expertise to make the vision a beautiful reality. Fong knew exactly the type of flowers we had in mind (even though I didn't know what type I had in mind) and she got the color scheme right on. Fong's approach is truly about understanding what the bride and groom's vision, and understanding the entire feel and flow of the wedding (everything from invitations, to the dress, hairstyle, cake, table settings, etc.). The ceremony flowers, the reception centerpieces, the bouquets, the hairpiece and the cake were all stunningly beautiful and so classy. Fong Tagawa of Floral Inspirations is absolutely amazing, she deserves a thousand 5 star reviews here! We had trouble finding a florist we liked and we ended up seeing Fong's website through the Hawaii Bride magazine. From the first time we talked we her, we knew she would be the right person for us. She is super friendly, professional, honest, and most importantly for us - highly intuitive! Through chatting a bit in our initial conversation, she was able to read our personalities and make suggestions that we had not thought of - and she was totally honest when she wasn't crazy about some of the ideas we had (which I really appreciated). She had a huge influence in our choosing our wedding colors, which we struggled with for quite some time. Fong asked us what it was that we liked about certain combinations, and what type of ambiance we were looking for; she made things super easy and I knew from the beginning she was going to do a great job. Fong is clearly experienced, talented and we really valued her professionalism and flexibility (when it was crunch time, she would call us from her daughter's softball game to answer quick questions). We gave her creative latitude from the very beginning and have absolutely no regrets. I could tell Fong had a vision and I trusted her talent. One of my friends asked if we specified what flowers we wanted to use at the wedding and I just laughed - that would be completely unnecessary if Fong was involved. In fact, Fong even suggested someone to provide specialty linens and worked with her directly (including pick-up and return of the linens) - all I did was tell them the number of tables and provide a credit card number. It could not have been easier and clearly, Fong was thinking of the overall look of our ceremony/reception site. Fong was happy to accommodate my request to "recycle" some flowers from the ceremony to reception (in order to soften the cost), and suggested I get leis elsewhere because it would be a better value. She also decorated our cake at no charge (we thought it would be decorated with a few loose petals but it was decorated with elegant orchids), let us borrow containers to hold our programs, a gift box, vases for our unity ceremony, brought loose flowers for everyone's hair, and created a toss bouqet on the spot (I thought we were going to have one but didn't realize it wasn't on her final invoice so missed mentionintg it before the wedding) - everything was beautiful. She even brought loose petals for us to fake a petal toss photo! Originally, we wanted to do a petal toss at the end of the ceremony but she talked us out of it due to safety reasons (she said she saw a pregnant woman slip on the petals before), and the fact that most guests forget to toss the petals anyway.. I am so glad Fong made the suggestion of doing a "fake" petal toss - which helped us save $100 in petal clean-up charges too! Admittedly, Fong's estimate was above the initial budget we gave her, but we were pretty clueless about flowers and our budget and the results were more important to us than the budget (and that was pretty clear in our conversation). Basically, I told her I wanted the room to look gorgeous and let her run with it. She did a wonderful, wonderful job. A ton of our guests commented on how gorgeous everything was - even some of the kids said the favorite part of the wedding was the flowers! Fong was definitely one of my favorite wedding vendors, hands-down. We had a few vendors tell us "We want you to be happy, so it's up to you..." While I appreciate that opportunity to have whatever we requested, we don't have experience planning a wedding (as most younger couples probably don't) and I think that kind of attitude might stem from a lack of experience or lack of confidence. I really appreciated Fong's wealth of experience and professional opinion and her confidence in expressing her opinion. We not only looked to her to provide the actual flowers and decor on the day of the wedding, but we looked to her guidance for ideas and feedback. She is so generous with her time - she even gave us her feedback in terms of favors and other aspects of the wedding! Fong is also super personable and it was so nice to see her on the day of the wedding. I wish she stopped by to say good-bye before leaving the venue! I would highly recommend her to anyone getting married on Oahu and hope that our paths cross again in the future. read more
