Anyways, working with Makiko was a great decision! I gave her the few photos of what I wanted and she worked her magic with the color combination. We decided to plan a 50 guest wedding in Hawaii, and picked Honolulu as the spot. While we picked our event venue (Modern Honolulu) we needed someone to really help us in organizing everything at the location, as we had not checked out anything before. Also, as sister of the bride, I was not going to be planning every detail (no thanks!). From the immediate first interaction email, Cortney was a true delight to work with. She handled everything with professionalism and helpfulness, not to mention being such a friendly and reachable person. All the details fro pre-wedding night dinner to post wedding activities were handled, and she had consistent contact with the hotel venue to make sure all the guest accommodations and event logistics were set. For 1 year, she patiently met regularly online with us and was quick to respond to emails. She was organized and very helpful, with excellent suggestions on everything from floral suggestions (using arch flowers as centerpieces, using bridesmaid bouquets at the head table) to hair and makeup recommendations (Mai Tokioka was truly as fantastic as she said) to restaurant recommendations. Sarah offered to receive packages at her home so we didn't have to overload our suitcases bringing things over from Canada, and also offered to print our welcome board, seating chart and display photos. This made life so much easier for us. Because of renovations at our wedding venue, we weren't able to stay there and had to stay across the street at a sister hotel. Sarah ensured that we weren't inconvenienced by having her assistants help move our things from room to room, and made sure nothing got lost. On the day of the wedding, Sarah had 2 assistants to ensure the day ran smoothly. One assistant was very sweet and followed me around to ensure I had everything I needed and helped with my dress for photos. The other assistant so kindly ran around from hotel to hotel when I forgot my garter and other things. Sarah herself made sure everything was perfect, including music, cake florals, name plates, guest sign-in table, and even helped set up the electric keyboard I requested so I could play a song just before my processional. She reached out a little prior to to our 2 month out timeline start date. Here we had meetings to check in with our DJ about music, and met a few times in person to ensure the flowers, song choices and ceremony were all in check. Just before the wedding, we met and she took our guest sign in book, table signs, seating chart, pens, etc. Bascially and literally took everything off our hands. Hiromi, her assistant helped during the big day and helped me change in our room to a shorter reception dress. Both of them deserve the biggest praise for helping our dream wedding come true. Because of her, we had far less vendor communication to manage ourselves, which made the entire planning process so much less overwhelming. Her experience with the venues and the local vendors is so key. She has worked with them countless times (it seems like everyone in the industry knows her) and knows exactly how to get the best outcome from each relationship. One of Steph's greatest strengths is keeping you focused on exactly what matters at the right time. If Steph tells you it's time to do something, do it. If she hasn't brought something up yet, trust that you don't need to worry about it; she'll let you know when it's the right time. That level of organization and confidence was such a gift throughout the planning process. Steph also has exceptional composure under pressure. No matter how busy the day became or what unexpected situations came up, she remained calm, professional, and completely in control. I paid for the day of coordination package which included handling the contracts and communication 3 months in advance. I had a difficult time even getting a response back from Richel. It would take her weeks at a time to respond. And a couple vendors had trouble connecting with her as well. I actually emailed Richel a couple weeks before our wedding, stating that my experience working with them was subpar and asked if I needed to be reminded of the expectations, which I never got a response. On the day of the wedding, Richel and a team member were 20ish minutes late. And when they did arrive they were both holding iced drinks. Vendors were actually looking for Richel and asking where she was. I wasn't asked a single question on our wedding day. If that's what you want, fine. But I had mentioned wanting a certain use of rented furniture and it wasn't set up how I wanted. Which included, having to move furniture during the ceremony in order to accommodate our unity symbol. Also, our cake pops were out in the sun, melting. After the ceremony, food had not been saved for us, and when we went up to the table everything had been eaten. At our reception, ice for our drink buckets had melted and wasn't refilled so by the time we had gotten there the drinks weren't cold. I didn't ask for this to happen, but one would hope that your coordinator would assist with things like this. One positive. I do want to highlight the gentleman helping on the FTG team the day of our event. He was pointed out by many guests as very hard-working, personable and helpful and we were very appreciative of his services and kindness. He helped get items into the car at the end of the night and handed me a beverage or two after our ceremony. These are just little things that would have made a difference in our day, made a lasting negative impression for me.

Richel met with us before we committed to working with For the Good to get a sense of our vision for our wedding, our personal values and interests, and us as a couple. We connected with Monique shortly after to start wedding planning. Over the next 6+ months, we continued to meet in 2-3 month intervals to identify and select vendors and communicated via email in between. They gave us excellent suggestions about vendors to work with based on their previous experiences. We came to Oahu twice to visit in person, and they arranged a venue tour to plan the layout of our wedding. They even came to our tastings and took notes on dishes that we wanted to add or to change. We met at more frequent intervals leading up to our wedding date to finalize the timeline, design, and other details. Regarding our wedding day, the For the Good team made the day as stress-free as possible. They took care of all of the logistics and worked with all the vendors from set up to take down. When we arrived at our venue, everything looked exactly like we'd planned, down to the smallest details at our welcome table and the wedding arch. It was honestly even more beautiful than we'd hoped for. We ended up running a little bit behind on our timeline during the wedding itself because the speeches ran long, but the team worked to get us back on track to give us plenty of time to party with our guests. She was very accommodating to last minute changes/additions for our ceremony needs. The photographer she contracted for us (Erwin) did a great job (as you can see by the pics I posted) and was very professional. He was very accommodating in helping us re-enact a picture taken with my family 9 years prior. The flowers she arranged were also beautiful. So pretty that I brought all of them home and am in process of having them preserved and put into shadowboxes. Rev. Rosemary was also very nice in blessing my husband's new wedding ring; which replaced the one that was lost in Hanauma Bay while snorkeling (shaking fist).
