our lei ceremony
Candace S.

My husband and i couldn't have asked for a better officiant. Kekoa was the best! After a phone call interview we were very confident in our wedding planners choice with our officiant. He made us feel so comfortable and gave us a lot of insight on what to expect the day of our ceremony. When our day came his words were so beautiful and personal and well beyond our expectations. We highly recommend Kekoa to anyone getting married in Oahu !

Kekoa was a perfect officiant for our beach house wedding

What an easy process, & a perfect officiant! We planned a surprise elopement ... we told our friends they were coming to a dinner party at the beach but it turns out we were getting married. This meant that none of the guests knew it was going to be a wedding, so having an officiant there could have tipped it off to make it complicated. Kekoa was perfect. He talked to us prior to the wedding to understand our vision for the event, he provided a general script which we were then able to tweak as our own (we wrote our own vows) & he led the ceremony in exactly the way we had envisioned it. He personalized the ceremony to really fit US! Because it was a surprise elopement, we worked out the timing of his arrival so as not to give away the event too early. His "cover story" as being old friends of ours worked on one set of guests he talked to right before we revealed it was a wedding. When it was time to start, he gathered everyone over where we wanted the ceremony & he did a wonderful job. We asked him to wear aloha crisp (not a suit) because we didn't want him to stand out from the rest of the guests. He held an iPad to guide his part of the script, & even held our vows for us. I can't express enough how wonderful, professional, kind, personable & even funny he made the ceremony. He picked up on our vibe very quickly & enhanced the entire ceremony. On the business end, a marriage license in Hawaii can seem pretty daunting with the in-person requirements and online app. His office walked us through the process, told us where to go to finalize the application & made it very easy. We were able to put him down in our marriage application for the state, which also made it easier. He has permissions from the state to file the post-ceremony paperwork online, and it makes the process so much easier. After the ceremony, we signed the paperwork. He filed it so quickly on his part online that we actually got an email THAT NIGHT from the State of Hawaii saying that our marriage paperwork was processing! THIS IS YOUR OFFICIANT! Book him now. He was perfect, and zero stress for me as the bride! Mahalo Kekoa!

You of course are a rose, But were always a rose." Robert Frost (1874-1963) I forgot just how good Watanabe Floral is.... Been a few years and many miles but they're still the number one florist on Oahu for me. It's staggering the amount of flowers, leis, haku, etc are offered here. Needed some fresh flowers for someone's birthday and I didn't want to play "roses roulette" with the typical less-than-stellar selection at the...ah... neighborhood grocery stores' inventory which is very convenient, but comes at the expense of quality. Ms Emma at Watanabe was absolutely brilliant, kind, patient and helpful with my questions. She engineered a most lovely arrangement complete with 2-dozen South American long stems, baby's breath, and St John's Wort flowers! Not only did they look amazing the day of the event but a week later they were still intact and blossoming slowly. Most other florists the petals start to fall on day 2 or 3. Will be back. Highly recommended. Mahalo nui for reading.

Watanabe Floral is Hawaii's largest full service floral shop since 1946, and my favorite shop. I try to visit here at least once a week to pick up roses/florals for my 2 vases, this help me think of a special person in my life who Loves floral. This place is such a happy vibe place/feeling, once you enter you will know what I mean. I just love the decor, so colorful, cheerful, so happy! I remember the very first time when I brought my mom here, I could see her happy face, I had to snap a photo of her at front of store. My recent visit I picked 10 colorful roses for my vase and also had to pick up a Birthday gift. Loved looking at all the orchids, picking one was hard. Watanabe has everything here, not only floral needs, you can just do your one stop gift shopping her. Like a local Hallmark with all the trinkets, gifts, snacks, jewelry, some very unique items that I never seen before. I came across the handmade crochet items and couldn't pass up on the bird and flower key chain, had to get them. They have very great vendors they purchase from, that's a great for supporting local! All in all, I just love shopping here! Don't forget - Mon-Sat. 9-4 & closed on Sundays! May your life be as beautiful as the flowers you give, spread happiness and joy with flowers!!

I initially chose a different florist, but as the process unfolded, I began to have doubts. I decided to keep looking and ultimately found Plant Hawaii--and I'm so glad I did! Working with Scot and the entire team was an incredible experience from start to finish. They were excellent communicators, truly listened to our vision, and created stunning inspiration boards that perfectly captured our theme. What stood out most was how collaborative and transparent the entire process felt. Their online portal was fantastic. It clearly showed each floral request, counts, inspiration photos, and costs. Their suggestions were beautiful and thoughtful. In addition, they were upfront about pricing every step of the way. These are two very important things to consider when selecting a florist. First, having an online portal made it incredibly easy to make adjustments together and immediately see changes reflected in the proposal. Second, clarity around flowers and pricing felt surprisingly difficult when speaking with other florists. Plant Hawaii stood out because they were so clear, organized, and transparent by comparison. On the wedding day, Scot and his team arrived and immediately jumped into action. As a planner, coordinating vendors can be stressful, but Plant Hawaii needed no direction. They built a breathtaking ceremony arch, placed all aisle and reception florals, handed me the bride's bouquet, and made sure I knew exactly where all the leis were. Everything was seamless and effortless. Florals truly set the tone for a wedding, and Plant Hawaii delivered the most jaw-dropping tropical Hawaiian arrangements. The bride envisioned a sunset palette, and the team quite literally painted a sunset sky with flowers. Their attention to detail, artistry, and love for what they do showed in every single element. Mahalo nui to Scot and the Plant Hawaii team. We are so grateful to have worked together! If you're considering them, don't wait!! They are the best!!!

Q: What do I do on weekends?…read more A: Plant shop, but not at Plant Hawaii. New hours as of last week, Mon-Fri only. Closed on weekends. I've actually been there on the days and hours that they say they are open but they were closed. I pressed the Ring button as instructed, but no response. I got into my car but spied another family coming to the parking lot. I got out of the car and followed them. Somehow they had the magic that I didn't have, and got a lovely young girl to open up the shop. I tagged right along, glad that I didn't drive away when I was going to. The girl was really nice. I've purchased a variety of things from them in the past: lipstick vine, hibiscus and etc. The prices are pretty good; hibiscus on the pricier side but they have the Cajun series that I crave so much. Bummer that they are not open on weekends but I totally get it.

I was trying to order the Sassy Anna on the site but had a question about the delivery time, so I picked up the phone and called the shop. I got to talk to the owner/ Flower Guy William, he is such a sweetheart and has awesome energy, he patiently listens to my request and made some floral suggestions, offering same-day delivery. He knows that we are from out of State and offered to take photos of the floral arrangement before and at the delivery to let us know the order status. The Sassy Anna set was just fabulous and exactly what we would imagine, it was colorful tropical and vibrant, full of life. It was PERFECT for a 70's birthday celebration. The flowers made our day and made our friend's family trip more memorable. The level of creative design, care, and reasonable price made me feel so happy that I decided to shop local and support local businesses instead of those nationwide delivery services. A bonus point is that William speaks Mandarin, which is my first language, xie xie!!
