Pros: The location is great, and overall, good for going places. Reasonably good amenities are a plus as well. Cons: Noises from all sides and angles could bother yoi 24/7. The walls are PAPER THIN, especially the ceiling and floor. You can not only hear but also feel every footstep and movement of your neighbors upstairs. Whether it's just walking around, using the bathroom and flushing the toilet, running the washer and dryer, vacuuming the floor, you get to hear all the sounds and feel the creaking/vibrating wooden panels all day long. It does not matter how considerate your neighbors are. And they are mostly nice people and do not do anything out of the ordinary. It's just built badly. The space between floors and walls are hollow; so, every stepping/flushing/washing and drying machine noise/vibration/thump all gets echoed and substantially amplified right down to you. Additionally, if you are in a unit facing the roads, you are subjected to the traffic noise from I-66 24/7 as well as buses in and out from the metro station during morning and evening commute hours, making sound sleep an impossible wish. To anyone considering moving in here, I'd beg you to be very careful and consider your noise tolerance. read more

I lived in H1 for six years, and only moved out because my job took me out of state. I loved living at Halstead at the Metro. I felt like I was living in a quiet hotel, due to the interior corridors and the new hallway carpet and light fixtures. Management was fantastic. There was a change in management shortly after I moved in, and the management that has been there the last five years and change is fantastic. Frank and Hadija are wonderful- always extremely responsive, proactive in passing information to the community, and always available to chat. I've found them to be extremely professional and they've created a front office environment that's welcoming and feels homey. On occasion I would hear occasional noises from neighbors, but it was usually from the upstairs neighbor singing his kids to sleep. I could occasionally hear footsteps overhead if people were running inside, but the HOA association requires a certain percentage of any hardwood floors to be covered in rugs, which cuts down greatly on the noise. The amenities are fantastic- a lovely pool (many of the units have balconies overlooking this), a newly renovated fitness center with new equipment, a huge basketball court, party room, TV room, and library/business center with computer and printers. There are a number of guest parking spots around the buildings (the front office or a website each owner/renter has access to give out parking passes- they are required for guest parking). Super easy. Some units have storage spaces, which is great. These are condos, so they are all privately owned. I give Halstead at the Metro (2655 and 2665 Prosperity Ave) five out of five stars. read more

Halstead at the Metro is comprised of two buildings, referred to as H1 and H2. I live in the older of the two, H1, and have never seen H2. The units themselves are condos, so reviewing them here would be unfair since some owners take better care of their units, upgrade them, etc. The building itself is nice, but not everything that I imagined it would be when I moved in. Fitness center: Spacious and well-equipped for an apartment/condo building, but dark (it is in the basement) and dirty. In need of an upgrade.Basketball court is a nice touch, but not utilized by many residents Pool: Very nice, no complaints Office: Staff are extremely nice, especially the head concierge, Alex, but they are slow on the uptake with packages. Sometimes I don't even get emails for them and have to go track them down. Location: Excellent location, located steps from the metro and the mosaic district. Parking: Yikes. This is where one of the stars is docked from. There is a huge parking garage with assigned spaces, but it ruins my life each and every day. Half the spots are vacant (privately owned) while half the residents are looking for parking spaces to rent. The top levels are uncovered, leaving your car exposed to the elements, and there is no elevator to the roof for the those times when you have a ton of groceries. The spots do not correspond with your unit. So, someone on the first floor might have a spot on the roof, while someone on the top floor has a spot in the basement. The turns are dangerous and once you reach level G4, the roof leaks like crazy. They desperately need to renovate the garage. Guest parking is great. Quality: The walls are thin. If you have loud neighbors, you're going to hear them. Most people are really nice and will quiet down if you ask nicely. Activities: They hold activities like pool nights and happy hours (I have never attended). Fees: $200 move fee (in or out), and no moves on Sundays. $100 lease fee and $350 moving deposit. Checks only. I like this building and think it's fine to live in short-term, but don't recommend purchasing in H1 (H2 might be a different story, but I can't speak to that side of things). read more

Halstead @ the metro is the condo building that was built a few years back. I have lived here for years and I have never had any issues. The building is in a great location, across the Dun loring metro station, 1/4 mile to the new Mosaic district in merrifield and a new town center that is being built in the large parking lot that used to be for the metro. Tysons corner mall is also 2 miles away. This location is only getting better. The building has a pool, gym, party room, business center, indoor basketball court, library, sports room. read more

Great community. However if you like peace and quiet and not yappy dogs a couple condos away from you, then move on. There's a dog left unattended all day and evenings barking away in locked bathroom. Contacted Mgmt about it, was informed, you have to talk to the neighbors and get a petition. All of this because a neighbor can't be aware and considerate of their neighbors. Mgmt should be taking care of this and not leaving all the work to the paying occupants of the buildings. read more

I've lived at the Halstead at the Metro for a little over two years now. The management does an excellent job keeping the renters and owners informed of all the happenings in and around the building. In my opinion these are my positive/negatives. Positives: - everything is near by food, malls, interstates, etc. - if you work in the city like I do it only takes me 30 minutes from route 50. Negatives: -Neighbors keep to themselves. To me most people aren't that friendly. If I try and be nice and say hello half of the people won't even acknowledge you. -the walls to the condos are thin. I can hear my neighbors having sex all the time above us. Also on multiple occasions I have come home to the smell of weed coming in through the vents and into our condo stinking everything up. -too many people speed in the garage. Be careful going around the corners. -$200 move out fee and $350 fee refunded to you if no damage is caused during your move in/out. To me that's ridiculous. That's too much. read more

Overpriced, and over-hyped. The sales associates were "nice" enough (= not as pushy as cars salesmen), but there were pressure tactics like "rent now, or the price will go up tomorrow," "free gift cards," etc. However, what they don't tell you is that the adjacent buildings are still very much so under construction. The Halstead itself shows signs of shoddy construction. The sales associate said the building was was built in a few months, and it really shows - crooked corners and crown moulding even in the sales room.. My wife and I fell in love with this place before we moved in. The staff are friendly and the amenities are amazing. The carpets are always clean, and you really think you're living in a luxury penthouse. Most importantly, it is a few minutes walk to the metro and right across a 24 hour Harris Teeter. The immediate area is growing with new restaurants everyday, and I'm excited to see what else will pop up. read more

You can't beat the location: everything is just a short walk away, from the Metro and groceries and restaurants to the Mosaic District (Target, movie theater, etc.). The community also has great amenities that are always clean and elegant, and impeccable landscaping in the many peaceful gated courtyards. For those lucky enough to be in units facing them, the courtyards are like private gardens. The community is also remarkably quiet (we never hear the neighbors), but friendly, with regular events like coffee hours, cookouts and potlucks. There is an active online community bulletin board to find babysitters, etc., within the condo complex. I've always found the concierge office staff to be courteous and helpful, and they did a great job of responding to the pandemic with sensible precautions. Each condo comes with a storage unit and it's possible to rent additional storage in the building. Also, units are always renting out spare parking spaces for very small fees, so if you need extra parking that's never an issue. read more

I've been a unit owner in building 1 since construction in 2006. I've both lived in and rented out my condo to others. I just read the attacks on the management office staff and they are surprising. I can't comment on other people's experiences, but my interactions with Frank Chauvin and Hadija in the office have been great. They've been attentive, helpful and I've seen no evidence of the disrespect that others have written about here. There have been times where I needed help outside the scope of the management office duties and they were still willing to help me. They've always been pleasant and in my many years of ownership, I would say customer service levels from the management office are at an all time high. Let's remember that management offices usually don't have that much power in condos (versus apartment buildings where they have complete control). In condos, they enforce rules of the condo association, but aren't allowed to go beyond that. Also, Legum & Norman may not be great, but they are the largest and most dominant management company in the region. It's like saying you don't like your mobile phone company. You might have 1-2 other options, but when it comes down to it, you have to choose the company with the most resources and experience. Again other folks have had poor experiences with management office. But mine have all been great and when I've had problems (water heater issue, plumbing) I've called on them for support and they've been there for me. Every story has two sides and there are probably a lot of people like me who are happy with them. As for the building, now that construction is nearly done at the Dunn Loring Metro, living at the Halstead is fantastic. Walking distance to Mosaic District, soon a 24-hour Harris Teeter across the street along with Starbucks and restaurants. Super convenient place. Just find a good condo unit owner. Some of them are absentee owners who live all over the world. read more

Frank Chauvin at the management office is a horrible manager, irresponsible and disrespectful to tenants. He's the guy in the corner office when you enter the management office in the front to get your packages, for example. In August this year, someone hit and run my car in the parking garage while I was inside the building for 4 hours. I asked Frank Chauvin to look at the security camera footages to find the person who committed the crime. He finally said he'd consider it. A few weeks later, I asked him again if he's had a chance to look at the footages. He said he can't show it to me and that he'd need to ask the condo Board for permission to show me the tape to identify the car that hit and run my car in the parking garage while it was parked. Then he said the Board met in September and he'd ask them. Meanwhile I filed a police report and had insurance handle the damage because the damage couldn't be left on my car for too long without causing more damage. Then in October, I asked Frank Chauvin what the Board decided; he said the Board said no - they would not release the security footage to help me identify the hit-and-run criminal. So I asked him to show me the Board meeting minutes and he said email me, I'd consider it. Then he walked away from me. What can I say? I suspected all along, Frank Chauvin, the onsite property manager or whatever is, never reviewed the security camera footage. He lied to me that he'd consider looking at the footage to find the driver, and I'm pretty sure he lied about asking the Board to let me see the tapes (so I can review it myself since Frank Chauvin is irresponsible and does not do his job), and lied about the Board denying my request to see the security footage in the garage. BE WARE WHERE YOU PARK YOUR CAR IN THE GARAGE. IF SOMEONE HIT AND RUN YOUR CAR WHILE IT'S PARKED, DON'T EXPECT THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT TO REVIEW THE SECURITY TAPE TO IDENTIFY THE CRIMINAL. FRANK CHAUVIN WILL NOT HELP YOU. HE IS IRRESPONSIBLE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO TENANTS. This place may be a good, convenient location, but Frank Chauvin, the onsite property manager, lies to tenants and will not help you if something does happen to your personal property onsite. read more

Halstead at the Metro is the condo development next door and was constructed several years ago. It's had its share of construction related problems but most of them have been addressed. And most people enjoy living there with the metro directly across the street. The gym and pool facilities are pretty good and with all the development coming (Mosaic District and the town center on the Dunn Loring Metro) it's a great location that will only get better. read more

I have lived here since the building was built and also have talked to about 15 other owners with ZERO issues even CLOSE to what they are stating. It is terrible that I have to write this about a place that I own in, but it needs to be done. The area is very nice and the buildings are still very nice. There are plenty of places to shop, eat, and work out. The metro is within walking distance and makes it even easier to get around and into the city. The biggest downside, which is a shame, is the management office. This team has it's ups and downs. There ups are that the maintenance of the property is handled very well. The downs are that the manager is especially rude and racist. We are extored and nickeled and dimed for the smallest of things around the property as if we do not have to pay a montly association fee. Frank, the manager, is particurly rude and expects that he is able to refer to us residents however he cares to. The way that he cares to shows the fact that he is racist and is srude nonetheless. I avoid this office as much as possible so that I do not have to deal with such blatent racism in my face. I am not sure how the two ladies that work in the office deal with him on a regular basis. Other than that, the property is very well maintained. I have spoken with the two ladies that work at the front of the office several times and they were more than helpful for me. My neighbors are all very pleasant, that I have met, and some agree with me that Frank is rude and racist. Trust me, I am not the first to speak out about things like this. The area is perfect especially if you are single. So if you want to move in here, please feel free! Just avoid talking to Frank if you don't have to! read more

We've been at Halstead (H1)about a year now and have nothing but good things to say about Frank and the office staff. They've been friendly, helpful, PROFESSIONAL and have been nothing but satisfied in dealings with them. They've gone out of their way to make sure we got our mail and deliveries. Any time I've gone into the office I'm met with smiles and friendly talk. The personal aspect of living in urban surroundings can be easily lost so it's good to see it's still alive and well around here. read more

Frank , Hadija, and Nessrin at the front are always helpful and upbeat. Frank the property manager has always been willing to step in and help me out with any questions or concerns I may have since I've been here. Overall good place to live considering this building is a little older than the newer apartments across the street. I dont find it to be noisy and the building amenities are great. Now that there is a Harris Teeter and Walgreens across the street even better,. The parking garage is not hard to figure out if you just read thre numbers. For assigned spaces. A short walk to Mosaic city. target, movies restaurants, shops and more. I lived here for 2 years. Overall, I really love Halstead I. It is very well managed, and the amenities are amazing! (Special shout out to the landscaping. Their selection of flowers/bushes/trees make it feel like a resort in spring and summer. I would highly recommend renting a unit here. I would not be interested in buying. PROS - Great location - Great Pool - Great Gym - Well maintained - Gas oven is awesome! CONS - Walls are thin (we were blessed with quiet neighbors and a good white noise machine, so noise was only an issue a few times in 2 years). (Note: I am REALLY picky about sounds. If I didn't have an issue, you probably won't.) - There is no "drop-off" zone. Uber never can find you. Your friends never know where to stop to pick you up. - There is both a $200 move in, and a $200 move out fee. (No landlord or seller ever seems to remember to mention the move-out fee). UNIT SPECIFIC CONS (things to look out for) - What does your unit overlook? Ours overlooked the grills. Any time the temperature got above 50 degrees, our Unit would smell like cooked steak and burgers. (Forget sitting out on the balcony) - Who designed this buildings layout?!?!?! I would like to slap them. Depending on where your unit is located, things could be easily accessible or impossible. (example - getting to the garage from my unit was a workout and requires several twists, turns, doors, steps...etc. Heaven forbid I forget something and have to go back to the unit). It is just really awkwardly laid out. - Make sure the parking spaces that come with your unit are right next to one of the monster trucks that don't fit in the space. - If buying, I would pay close attention to the appliances, especially if unit has been rented and not lived in by owner. These appliances are 12 years old at this point, some are reaching the end of their life especially if not cared for. (When we moved in, the air filter had clearly not been changed in years. Our fridge (this is the fridge that came with the units) was more inept at properly cooling food at a consistent temperature than the 'Hotpoint fridge' I had in college. read more

The metrorail (Dunn Loring Stop) is right here at the property. There is a bran new Harris Teeter going in here in addition to numerous shops and restaurants. The bran mosaic center is a short walk away. Very Convenient place to live with lots to do and easy to get anywhere from here being right by the beltway/66. The fitness center was just repainted/updated. The parking garages are right at the building so very little walking and many residents advertise their spots for lease/rent to otehr residents. I would not recommend living here if you are renting on the top floors or even on the lower floors because residents below you complain about being able to hear every foot step. If the unit has hardwood, its even worse. You are paying a premium price to live near a metro station but you have to tippy toe around your house so the neighbors below do not complain. I covered about 85% of the hardwood with rugs and mats and complaints still came. I do not run around house or jump around. I work 9 to 6 and so when I get home, eat dinner and wash up, I tend to run my washing machine around 10pm. The walls and floors are so thin the neighbors bang on their ceiling and walls to INFORM us that we are making too much noise which is absurd. If you live in the Halstead I facing towards the new Halstead Apartments, there are a lot of loud music on the weekends and because there is a parking garage facing you, you hear cars with loud exhausts, motorcycles revving and for some reason, people testing their cars to the limit on the road adjacent to prosperity towards Home Depot. Also, they occasionally have fire drills at the Halstead Apartments across from you afterhours which is the most annoying sound you can hear. All these sounds will wake you up and if you have a child, they will wake up as well. Parking SUCKS here for guests. Visitors have to find parking in the visitors parking lot which is in the back of the building, then walk back to the front of the building and go to front office and get a parking pass, then walk back to the back of the building, hang your temp tag, then either walk back to the front of the building or walk into the garage walk up a flight of stairs and dial the person you are visiting to let you in. Also, ever since the new restaurants that came in, we have seen rats on occasion and recently, there was a pretty large rat that was run over in the parking garage where the lift gate is located. During the winter, if you have an apartment with a loft and high ceilings, you can pump your heat to 85 degrees and in the middle of the night it will still be cold. During the summer, the same thing. If you are ok with paying $2300 - $2500 for a 2 bed and a loft just to tippy toe around your house and all the other crap this is the perfect place for you. Dunn Loring metro being walking distance is the only up to this. read more
