Halloween is my "Christmas.". I just love the feel of this holiday... Haunts and spooks, and an excuse to dress up in costume that would never be socially acceptable any ore time of year. "Pardon me, ma'am, is that bleeding boil on your face part of your costume, or are you infectious to my horrified kids?" anywhooo, my bother came to visit and for 4 years, we have gone to markoff's haunted forest (love it) but decided to give a local haunted experience a try for something different. I was a bit disappointed. BUT... I think experiences like this are very individual... I LOVE Markoff's: the time and the meticulous artistry that goes into every scene. . I like more subtle scares... Less of the pop out and startle you type of scare. Hallow, Inc. Is more of the latter... Less meticulous with their scenes, although they are new so I gave them three stars for effort. It's a great haunt in the making. Things I really enjoyed: the entrance had a sampling of zombies in cages screaming at us while we walked in to get our tix. Nice touch... Made me excited for more. I liked the premise of the story and the short movie they showed at the entrance. Again... Whet my anticipation. I appreciated all the actors, even outdoors in the sobering strip mall... They did not break character and were very dedicated to the story of it all. My vote: more dedication to the scenery next year. read more

My friends decided to make an impromptu trip here on Sunday, which is the night before the hurricane. Note that I'm terrified of scary movies and haunted houses and all things scary. Further note that it was already starting to rain out, which terrified me even more, because what if it gets too bad to drive after the hurricane that we would be stuck at the haunted house for the next few days? Cue terrified sobbing. I don't want to give anything away, but I really like how the workers there (even the doorman) are in character though out the whole thing. I also really like how there's a consistent theme for this adventure, instead of random unrelated scary things jumping out at you. Throughout the path, I was half screaming my head off and half laughing hysterically. It was a good time. My only qualms would be the wait and the price. There were a ton of people in line when we arrived, which sucks but is also good I guess because it's a testament that the experience is worthwhile. The maze itself only takes maybe 15-20 minutes, but getting from the door to the end takes about an hour overall. The price was also a bit high ($30pp). I did see discounted tickets for this on LivingSocial, but we didn't plan ahead to come here. Overall, it took a lot of effort to convince me to go, but I'll admit that it was worth it. read more

This is the scariest haunted house I've ever been to. Actually, I can honestly say this is the only haunted house that has actually made me afraid. The hangout area where you buy your ticketts is cool. The final room is terrifying. The whole experience is awesome! I'll be back before they close up shop, for sure. As for Andrea R., I must say I agree with what another reviewer stated. She gave a 1 star rating to 3 other haunts on the same day. That doesn't seem legit to me. I can't say I'll be visiting any others. I live in Rockville. I'm not driving to Jessup or Poolsville. This place is 10 minutes from my house, scared the crap out of me, was a great hang with my friends and there are about 100 places to eat within 2 minutes drive. I'll be back! read more

I went back. Great time. Funny thing about yelp. My comment has been commented on by what I can assume is employees of another haunted house or something. They think I work for a haunted house called FOS. to set the record straight, FOS is a term from my actual industry, and it means full of s...... For example a patient that has not gone to the bathroom in a 10 day period. Or a person who claims to go the opening of 3 or 4 events in 3 counties at the same time and comment about all and give their friends a good vote only. Not nice. In any industry. If a business needs to do that maybe time to find something else to do. Hallow is my only experience with this stuff but I thought it was great. Really scary, great makeup and venue. Came here today with a friend. The wait was not too bad. I was impressed that the doorman was also in character. When you walk in you will see walls and posters with eerie graffiti on there. Before starting, I wanna say that my friend and I have a love hate relationship for horror movies. We pretty much get terrified at every movie we saw. With that said.... I won't say anything about the rooms, but I definitely enjoyed the last bit! I think the one let down was the positioning of the zombies. I would say 70% I could see them out the corners of my eyes. And there wasn't enough variety. They just all looked the same and I guess I lost interest throughout the entire walk through. The other complaint is that personally, I wish the lighting hadn't been as dark as it was. I'm more of a visual person and I could barely see the elaborate make up on any of the zombies' faces which probably lowered the scare factor for me. My friend and I also caught up to the group in front so we knew everything that was happening...so spacing was definitely an issue. I give 3 stars for effort and well decorated rooms. I was really impressed with the decoration and the actors and actresses stayed in character extremely well. read more

Other reviews are ridiculous. $30 for a 10 minute walk through. No lead up of the story or build up. Luckily only paid 15 bc of living social. Save your money. Places like eastern state penitentiary are $40 and worth the trip and price by far. Not sure how they justify 30 for this "urban" crap. read more

For the DC area, this gets a 5 out of 5. For best haunted houses of all time... probably closer to a 4, but let me explain why first, and exactly why my bar is so terribly high. Haunted houses are a bit of a 'thing' for me... I love them. Every season I go to around 20-30, sometimes more. No joke. So, while this is listed as a haunted house it's really more of a zombie experience which is a subset of the haunted house genre. What does this mean? No random skeletons popping out for no reason, no clowns, no strange vampires hanging out with werewolves, etc... just a reasonably long walk through a series of zombie wasteland scenes which are complete with several nods to popular zombie movies, etc. The actors are really into what they are doing, the owners really love giving a good scare and frankly as zombie experiences go for one that's in it's first year it's amazingly good. They have a nice variety of sets, make excellent use of misdirection (which is only possible b/c they have a LOT of zombies), use lighting and settings to maximum effect, etc. Yes, it's in a strip mall, and guess what... that means it's metro accessible. In fact, it may be the only metro accessible haunt in the entire region. POTENTIAL SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH : Back to my first comment... 4 nationwide... for a 5 star zombie experience you really need a blown out building (Zombie Apocalypse in Atlanta is a prime example) and SERIOUS amounts of space. They do an amazing job with what they have here, and for the vast majority of my time there I totally forgot I was in what used to probably be a Bed, Bath and Beyond or something. They also have a custom film at the opening and do a solid job of creating atmosphere... but once you enter the zombie enclave, you kind of wander through getting scared and experiencing the house until the end. Next year they should set up a way point in the middle with paramilitary guys/gals to move a more specific story along. They do a better job than anyone else in the area by FAR in creating a story... which is why for the area they are a solid 5 star... but I've seen more thorough executions (rarely) which is why I drop it to a borderline 3/4 for nation-wide zombie experiences overall. END SPOILER ALERT: That being said, only Markoff's in this area comes close to matching it for overall enjoyment... nobody else gets out of 1/2 star overall territory for me. Maybe Bennett's Curse, which is borderline 3/4 as well.. and they were ranked as one of the top 13 haunts in the country, so as you can tell I'm a pretty harsh critic. Nutshell - if you like zombies, this is THE haunt for you unless you're willing to travel over 4 hours away (each way) to go somewhere that's not as cool. To get something better you'd have to go to Atlanta for an amazing zombie experience... the west coast, or the heartland. This is a unique venue and it's freaking awesome. Go get some Matchbox pizza nearby (the Rockville location doesn't have the insane wait the District locations are infamous for) and get your zombie on! It's totally worth it. read more

Went to this haunted warehouse tonight and it was different, which made it extremely scary!!! I was with a group, which was only 4 of us, we were spaced out very well... The screams from other people going threw added to the scare... And the last room before you leave was SOOOO scary!!! A girl in our group actually pee'd herself.. And had to be escorted out... Super scary and intense! Premise is that you're being evacuated from a research lab where radioactive contamination has turned everyone into zombies. you have to run a gauntlet of howling and screaming caged zombies before you even hand over your ticket which really sets a disorienting tone. You watch a short film linking the zombie outbreak to the early nuclear bomb tests (there's a great in-joke for people who know the back history of the first Godzilla film), get "briefed" by a paramilitary type, sign a waiver and you're off. And holy CRAP will you be scared. It took us about 3/4 hour (I can't believe anyone said they got through in ten minutes! this thing is long!) to get through the incredible winding maze which is packed with zombie actors - some behind walls pounding and howling, some stumbling around loose, some lurking under the furniture and lunging over the walls. Very atmospheric with red lighting, strobes and LOUD screaming and moaning everywhere. I thought my heart would stop! The sets make great use of the premise with wrecked and bloodied computer rooms, exam rooms and labs, panicky and desperate graffiti scrawled on the walls and makeshift barricades. The actors do an excellent job (especially the female zombie holding a baby) and the tension never lets up - really begin to wonder if you'll ever find the exit - I ran through the final sequence with my eyes shut! A terrific scare, hard to believe it's Hallow inc.'s first year of running this haunt. Will definitely come to anything they put together next year. (Note: I'd say definitely not for kids under 12, and for 12-13 only if you know they're pretty scare-proof.) ( APRIL 2017, EDITED TO ADD: this was the only haunt Hallow Inc. ever ran in our area and I believe they are gone for good. Pretty dull. I was prepared to be scared, but when I'd walked through half of it without a single 'eek' of surprise or terror, I knew I'd been ripped off. Very corporate and clean cut. I was part of a group of 5. In all it was a good time. Certainly, $32 was far too much for the short experience. I won't add any spoilers, but I commend Hallowinc on a fun experience with great ideas and performers. Watch a Zombie or scary movie before going into the warehouse to get you in the mood. read more

Never have been too into Halloween, but went and it was so much fun. I definitely recommend if you're looking for something different to try to Make some good memories with friends. Also the final stage with the chainsaw men was terrifying in a good way lol! read more

I would recommend saving your money and attending another haunted house. We were expecting an actual warehouse. When we arrived it was in on the top floor of a strip mall above a Toys R' Us. It might have been better if it was darker, but since they just set up partitions, light would seep through. Overall, this place was very lame and not worth $30 for a 10 minute walk. read more

I was really looking forward to this urban haunted house but it really didn't do it for me. One thing I love most about haunted attractions is the anticipation and anxiety I feel as I walk through, wondering what will try to scare me next. This anticipation quickly faded at The Warehouse for a few reasons. For one, the only real scare tactic employed was zombies screaming in your face. That's good and all once in a while but the attraction lacked diversity through the entire walk through. I also thought the the spacing between groups took away from the house's fear factor. We were constantly on the tail of the group in front of us so we always knew what was coming based on their reactions. Luckily I got a discounted ticket through LivingSocial but it is by no means worth $30. It was a good effort and Hallow Inc has some good ideas. I have to give them slack because it is the first year but I left the haunted house thinking "That was it?". read more

I agree with the other reviewers who stated this was an overpriced event. Maximum that should be charged is $10 if that. Fear is more a psychological feeling than a physical one so you can only expect so much from a setup such as this. I found fellow patrons seeming much more scared in anticipation of the walkthrough (as we were waiting in line) than the actual event itself. This is a valiant effort for sure and I applaud all the staff and zombie actors for giving it their all. But the most fun part for me honestly was experiencing the event with strangers and my bf who was hopelessly scared out of his mind before we entered. I'm not sure about the comments posted by other reviewers stating this was the best event or better than others. It was mediocre at best. Honestly you are paying for the thrill of the unknown, and the camaraderie (albeit brief) with other folks waiting in line. I'm much more 'scared' when I watch Celebrity Ghost Stories or Paranormal Witness on Tv than I ever was at any moment of this Hallowinc. event. Remember there is only so much someone can do or create to scare you legally. I would say overall this was a waste of my money and the event promoters should drastically reduce the cost. The creepiest part for me was actually the security guard (with his freaky 'zombie' eyes) who worked the line before I ever even entered the building. read more
