We purchased a dryer from Hallocks Branford on March 9th. It came to us damaged. It took 4 days to get a technician out to examine it. He was here for maybe 5 minutes and said the part would arrive in 3-5 business days. We were never contacted. We have called multiple times and been given the run around. We were told the part was lost but they left it up to use to locate and call countless numbers to be put on hold as it was figured out. It is March 26th and the dryer is still broken. A technician was supposed to come today and he is not responding to text messages or phone calls. They have now sent the work order to GE and we were told it will not be repaired until April. No one is following up with us or making sure it is repaired. Hallocks returned our call this afternoon and said they would get back to us. They have not. I will never recommend Hallocks or purchase from them again. Better customer service probably would have left us feeling better about this entire experience. read more

OMG, after our previous experience with IKEA (see review) going to Hallock's was a major improvement. Our salesperson, Bill, was very attentive and knowledgable, not pushy at all. We ended up with a Bausch model at a great price. The delivery/installation team was a joy! Extremely friendly and polite. They got the job done quickly and left no other trace that they'd been here. They also tested the machine to make sure everything was in order. They really respected our space. There was a delay in receiving the machine due to supply chain issues, but we were notified of that upfront and kept apprised, so there were no surprises. I have purchased many items from this store over the past 20 years. They use to had a showroom on route one, but have moved to more of a warehouse approach. They do have a great website to get prices and customer's ratings. I went in and bough a new microwave and they had it delivered and installed in two days. I priced it at all the big box stores . They were cheaper than everyone. I was debating to get stainless steel or black, because black was cheaper. The sales representative dropped the price by another $10 dollars, which closed the deal on the stainless. They also provide a great service protection plan. It cost $150 for 5 years, parts and labor and if I never call them , they will refund me $75. read more

I bought the appliances and they stored them until my kitchen install was done. The men who delivered the appliances did an excellent job. It was a tight fit and they had to take the doors off the fridge and the door into the kitchen. They were good natured and efficient. The store had had wide selection and very good prices, I got all 4 kitchen appliances for a little over $3000. I would highly recommend them. read more

I had to replace 4 major appliances all at once. Difficult to shop for 4 at one time made harder by very small spaces for new appliances. I shopped, both on line and in person at the big chains and at several small, local appliance stores. I was continually frustrated by both the lack of knowledge and lack of interest by any sales person. In the big stores, seemingly simple questions went unanswered and there was no effort to find details for me. After verifying that a particular appliance was on the floor (and traveling 45 minutes to see it) I arrived only to be told they did not have that model, Rude, uncaring. Hallock's of Branford was my answer. I received immediate attention. I showed photos of some of the very tight installation areas. The salesperson gave considerable thought to each area and made excellent recommendations. Details I would never have thought of. He had a vast knowledge of every brand and made great suggestions. The technical installation crew and the delivery staff were exceptional. When one appliance developed a problem, Hallock's again made great suggestions for a replacement unit. The malfunctioning appliance was immediately switched out for a new one. No fuss, no delays, no arguing. And this is going back to when they were on the hill. No assistance. No information. No guidance so all 4 times we walked away l. Last time (1mth ago) we got in the car and went to Pages in Guilford. My salesperson Bill was great - not pushy at all and was helpful sizing a refrigerator to fit in a small space in my galley kitchen. Delivery guys Eric and Lloyd were awesome. Very professional and super careful about moving my old and new refrigerators but expect a joke out of them. I was caught off guard then they had me laughing for the rest of the delivery. They can't hook up water to the fridge but they gave me advice on how to do it and I was able to do it myself. The whole experience was great and I got a new fridge from the scratch and dent outlet (couldn't find a scratch or dent) for more than 50% off the list price. read more

I made the mistake of ordering a fridge from Home Depot last weekend because I didn't have time to make it out to Branford. After waiting a week for the delivery from Home Depot they dropped it getting it into the house. Told me maybe they could deliver one in another week. Still waiting on Hallocks to send us a new machine to rectify this issue. The brand new machine we purchased from them should not have to be repaired and we should not have to be stuck with it. Terrible customer service. The woman who answers your service calls, Dottie, is rude, short on the phone, and does not listen to your concerns. The company gives you the run around when you have a problem with your machine and expects you to keep track of the service contractors when they don't show up to their calls. We purchased a brand new LG washing machine that makes loud metal on metal noises throughout the entire cycle, the drum is off center and bangs so loud it vibrates the first floor rooms of the house each time a cycle switches, and Hallocks refuses to rectify the situation of giving us a faulty machine by replacing it with a properly functioning new machine and instead keeps sending people out claiming the machine isn't level when we've put a level on it and it's clearly leveled, they've sent their people out once already and said it's leveled and now damage is already being done to the machine from having the drum bang around all over the inside. The machine is now over 10 days old and has been nothing but a mess since the first night with an off centered drum and they still won't replace it with a properly functioning one. The company doesnt stand behind its products, doesn't care about its customers, and causes intense frustration. Don't buy from them. Buy locally, get better service, pay a little more, and have piece of mind. read more

Spent time picking out the appropriate unit only to have the salesman sell it out from under me less than an hour after I left. AND, my beau knows the owner which the salesman knew about too. So, if we are treated like this knowing the owner, you can rest assured we won't be going there for any future appliance purchases. Sometimes it is worth it to pay a little extra for no hassle service. I have a lady salesman I like at AItoro and will continue buying my appliances from her. We ordered a washer/dryer to be delivered and the existing setup to be removed, taken away. Salesperson was attentive (Phone order) and a week later the two man crew showed up to install. Installation required a three prong plug (I paid for at purchase.) and the installers said they didn't have one so they took the old one off my outgoing appliance. The new drain hose was too short and they didn't have an extension for that either. For a $300 "White Glove" install, I got the new stuff hauled in, the old stuff out, but I still couldn't use it. Bought a hose extension myself, and then the washer did not work. I called and told them about the cord/plug (never got my credit back) and the washer failing to operate. They replaced it in a week, it works fine now, but I never got a call or my credit for the plug. UPDATE: I complained on their website and got a call saying owner would contact me and a refund for cord would be coming. Days later, nothing. UPDATE: Weeks later, got my refund, no owner apology for poor service. Next appliance will be purchased at another business. read more

The experience of purchasing my stove was a pleasure, however when it came to customer service they failed miserably. There was a problem with one of the burners. It actually melted underneath at the connection causing sparks and smoke! I was very afraid of fire. After telling Hallocks about my problem they referred me to GE because the stove was under warranty..its less than 6 months old! I had to set up the appointment and deal with GE when I felt they should have been doing this on my behalf, after all I didn't purchase the stove from GE I purchased it from Hallocks! Nonetheless I set up the appointment and the unit was repaired. Less than 2 months later another burner melted. I was furious! I wanted a replacement strove and not the same model. Hallocks again told me to call GE and it was up to them to determine the outcome of the stove. Very poor customer service I would say! Well of course GE wasn't going to replace it.. they are just as bad! Instead they issued an extended warranty of another year. I will not buy another GE appliance and I will not shop at Hallocks ..ever! So a $500 stove cost them a customer and this negative review on yelp. Was it worth it? I'd say not. read more

We ordered three appliances from this location and when they were delivered, the dishwasher was broken. We called to have it replaced with a new one and they said they'd have to order it because there was not one in stock. Which left us without a dishwasher for 5 days (which in a family with 5 toddlers and a husband that works a lot makes things very difficult.) when talking to the manager we asked if there was some type of reimbursement we can get for the trouble & he assured us there would be and he would call back with that. It was installed by Hallocks and has never worked properly. Hallocks totally ignored us and said we have to deal w Bosch. Bosch has been here, say oh yes it doesn't work, keep trying. As if it is our fault. Hallocks did not stand by us as customers. For 2 months we have been trying to get this very expensive dishwasher working. I will NEVER go to Hallocks again (we need a new refrigerator now) and I will tell anyone I know not to go there, just go to Home Depot or Lowes. At least you can get service from them. read more

I bought a Bosch oven from Hallock's on January 11 and it's being installed as I write this, four days later, January 15. (An earlier attempt at another merchant was going to take 3-4 weeks!) Bill, the Hallock's salesman, told me what the installation would cost and that it would cost that much no matter what they had to do. The installer just told me it would cost an additional $80 so I called Hallock's and Bill immediately told them, "no, bill us, not the customer." We had a power surge due to the hurricane that came through here losing power for 5 days. We do have a stand by generator, but for some reason, the surge fried our fridge. Tried to get it fixed, but the parts would have taken forever, the repair man told me to call Barrington at Hallock's. Of course I checked around for prices and knew what I wanted. Most places would take between a week to 2 months to deliver or were just out of stock. Barrington offered me a Monday delivery, even price matched a competitor plus free delivery even though I was just out of their free local delivery range. Fantastic! Even the delivery men couldn't have been nicer, they wore masks the entire time they were here. Took care of taking the old one out and bringing the new one in. They were compensated for their hard work. We were pretty sick of living out of cooler for 2 weeks. Hallock's will be my go to place from now on! read more

Just awful. Delivery guy never came on scheduled day. I called to check status. I was polite throughout the conversation but the customer service rep was angry and accusatory (I thought I was talking to a child). She claims I wasn't home, but my security cameras show that no delivery people came to my door, plus I never left the house. I asked to speak to the owner and then she calmed down, even granting me a discount for missing work (Discount never came through. Very dishonest). They sent appliance next day (That's 4 more hours of work I missed). After using the appliance there was minor flooding in the room. I discovered that the installers did not tighten the hoses to the pipes. Wow, I'm done with Hallock's. They're rude, incompetent, & dishonest. read more

Buying appliances sucks. Buying appliances to replace the 6 year old ones in your new house sucks more. Our dishwasher and then the oven in our gas range both failed after over just 6 years. These were "big box" appliances. So we had heard good things about Hallocks, so off we went with the truck. The warehouse is a warehouse. Surprise. Not a "showroom". I like it already. We walk in, and the salespersons say " let us know when you if you need anything". Love it. We walk around for 20 minutes and are not hassled by a salesperson once. I don't like to be hassled or sold stuff. I like to shop without any pressure or interference. We found suitable replacements at an affordable price. I collected a salesperson. He was friendly and helpful without being pushy or annoying. We used the in house financing and then one of the men working in the warehouse found me some cardboard to protect the purchases and helped load them into my truck. The warehouse in West Haven stocks some serious appliances. They are not in boxes and may have limited cosmetic flaws. They are still covered by manufacture's warranty and are new but you can save a bundle. We saved about 30% by buying at the warehouse. They have delivery and installation but it costs extra. I will never buy appliances from a big box again. This is a local family owned company stocking quality appliances at substantial discounts. If you buy anywhere else you might as well light your money on fire. Don't come here if you expect someone to drive you around a fancy showroom with low lights and fake kitchens. Do come here to get quality appliances at a substantial discount. read more

Terrible customer service. I bought a GE profile washer and dryer, but when I called for delivery they had sold the dryer that I already paid for to someone else. They installed the washer, incorrectly, which flooded my basement. We called for repair, and the tech was three hours late. Never an apology for any of it. I sent an email telling them I was unhappy with their service, they simply said the tech fixed the problem. In only five years, the washer has broken three times. Rather than continue to put money into the faulty appliance they sold me, I went to Home Depot for a new washer. I emailed them to remind them of their treatment and the reason they lost a customer. Their entire response read, "sorry for the bad experience, good luck to you" not even a signature. read more

We purchased a Bosch compact washer and dryer at Hallocks for a laundry room under construction and now we are close to having them installed. We decided to buy the Bosch pedestals to elevate them and when we called Hallocks to install our washer and dryer the manager Mark said their policy is not to install appliances if we didn't buy them all at their store. We paid $2371 to Hallocks for our appliances and $500 for the pedestals from an online company never thinking that Hallocks would reject our request to install our washer and dryer along with the pedestals. This is a bad policy and I would have bought my appliances elsewhere if i had known. read more

I am extremely dissatisfied with the Viking refrigerator that I purchased at Hallock's in March of 2019. This unit cost more than $10,000 (plus a $600 service contract). Within three months I had multiple component failures and service calls. In June of 2020 the unit failed and came back to life several times. (Each time food was lost.) The support technician was unable to diagnose the issue. When the unit again failed days later Viking support technicians were not able to come out for six weeks! So our family of five went almost the entire summer without a refrigerator. Neither Viking, nor Hallock's, nor Carrey's Appliance (the designated Viking repair shop) lifted a finger to expedite the service call or to correct the problem. The unit failure has since been diagnosed and I will receive the replacement part in another four weeks. My $10,000+ Viking refrigerator is unreliable. And Viking's technical support/repair infrastructure is inadequate to service the unit in a timely manner. I strongly recommend that you stay away from this product. Tim M. read more

I needed a new dishwasher so I researched them on the internet. I decided on a particular model of Whirlpool. Then I went shopping and my first stop was Hallock's. The saleswoman, Lidia was very helpful and they had the model I wanted in stock. This was on a Saturday and delivery and installation were promised for Tuesday morning between 8 and 12. Tuesday morning came and just before 9 the installer arrived. The installer was from Bill's Professional Appliance Installers and was amazing to watch. In an hour he had the old dishwasher out and the new one in. As I watched him, he had no wasted motions and knew exactly what to do at each step. Kudos to Hallock's for using such a good subcontractor. All in all, I was totally pleased with the entire process. read more
