It has taken me more than a year to write this review. Most would have simply forgotten and kept it moving. But it has taken me this long to decompress from the wedding, and how good I looked thanks to Hall and Madden. At any rate, I ended up at this location by mistake. Somehow, I thought I could go to Hall and Madden to rent a tuxedo for my wedding, so my father-in-law and I showed up to do just that. We met with Roger who is one of the best people you'll ever meet. Very professional and knowledgeable. I had planned to do something else and really didn't want to own a tuxedo because I'm a get dirty kinda guy and I'm a cheapo. However, the wedding date was closing in and I had to do something, so I said what the hey. It did come to me that I probably shouldn't try to cut costs on one of the most important days of my life and that the event does deserve the best I could do. Now comes Roger, the person to help me achieve the look I wanted and would not land me in hot water with my new wife. A truly one of a kind look all the way down to the buttons. Roger was patient and listened carefully to the details I wanted and patiently went over countless options that fit my description. They have an extensive number of textiles and materials, and they even have a significant number of casual options, all available to be custom tailored to your liking. I had no idea how much tailor fit would make a difference in the look, but it is the only way to go. Hall and Madden is the only way to go when you want the absolute best custom look. Roger brilliantly measured my oddly shaped body and my suit didn't require a single adjustment upon delivery, which was perfect despite a tight deadline. I danced for hours in this suit and everything stayed in place and looked wonderful still at the end of the day. The entire experience with Hall and Madden was perfect thanks to Roger. A unique experience with service and quality worth your time and worth your money and that's a hard thing to find these days. Give Hall and Madden a shot, you won't be disappointed! read more

I don't really write reviews, but we had such an amazing experience with Hall Madden, I had to share! My fiancé and I are getting married in Mexico this upcoming May and there have been plenty of stressful situations to deal with. Much to our delight, getting his custom suit was quite the opposite! After reviewing multiple custom suit makers we decided on Hall Madden as they had amazing reviews of their other locations and also we had a friend who recommended them.  We went for the first fitting at a Miami Trunk show and the second fitting was done in DC at their newly opened studio. Claire and McGregor were the absolute best! They put it us at easy, were very patient and easy to work with. They put a lot of emphasis on the fit and fabric choice!!! We were thrilled with the attention to detail for his custom suit. We spent 1800 on a 3pc suit made with VBC fabric. It's beautiful. He looks really dapper and is also very comfortable in it. To top it all off it was much less expensive than many off-the-rack options that simply wouldn't fit, or wouldn't offer separates (he's a different jacket than pant size). He got exactly what he wanted and we didn't have to spend days going to each store to find something that we only "sort of liked". I think all of his future high end clothing purchases will definitely be done with Hall Madden. Make sure to get ready to walk up to the 4th floor for your appointment. Other than that the studio is pretty simply decorated. Its a pretty no-frills experience which is fine because its all about the one-on-one fitting. We felt zero pressure to buy. Through the whole process Hall Madden was also very prompt with email responses. 5 stars!!!! read more

Absolutely thrilled with the service at Hall Madden. My brother used them for his suits beforehand and visited their trunk shows and now we're using it for his wedding tuxedo. I'm really glad they have an office now so it's much easier to see all their fabrics. The process is super easy. His body's changed since he first worked with them a few years ago so Claire suggested he be refit. He was put in a sample suit and she went over all the changes they would make to the jacket and pants -- we also decided on a vest to make it more unique. There were a lot of fabrics to choose from -- even some WILD ones -- but Claire helped us narrow down to what would be appropriate for our black tie wedding. We ended up choosing a Loro Piana fabric and they're making us a sample suit first before making his final suit -- just to make sure the fit is perfect. I really did not expect that, but learned it's something they offer for free for their higher-end fabrics. We'll be back in a few weeks for the next fitting for the sample suit and shirt we picked out. I'm a bit jealous how easy it was for my brother, but glad to know it's one less stressful thing to think about! read more

This is definitely the place where GQ business guys get custom suits. First fitting was really great and I was immediately put at ease as they put you in template suits and then pin it so you can see how it will fit when it is completed. I was able to go back and forth and I felt that my opinion was definitely included. Second fitting was the test suit fitting where they actually make a suit using cheaper fabrics and construction just to make sure that you are perfectly happy with the finished suit. Since my measurements were not on file and I had some different requests I felt that this bespoke fitting really satisfied all of the demands I had. Definitely go with the bespoke service if you are picky like me. Final fitting / pickup - after about 7 weeks from start to finish my suit was done. It was perfect and everything about it from the buttons, shoulder pads etc. is absolutely everything I wanted. Communication was very easy and booking the fitting times was very easy. Couldn't be happier and can't wait to order more. read more

I haven't regularly worn a suit for a few years, and have had varying success with the fit of off the rack suits depending on how my weight was fluctuating at the time. When I got engaged I started to get pretty nervous about wearing an ill-fitting suit and being (right next to) the center of attention for the day. Those fears vanished when I got my suit from Hall Madden! It fits great and feels like armor to protect me from the attention of so many eyeballs pointing my way. Roger was a pleasure to work with through the whole process, helping me turn my vague idea of "what if a suit could be green? And have a vest?" into a beautiful suit that I'm planning on wearing as much as possible. He helped walk me through fabrics and cuts and vents and so many pocket and button choices that I had never thought about before all without being pushy. My husband and I attend several black tie events throughout the year for our professional and social affiliations. After years of wearing an off the rack department store tuxedo, it was time for an upgrade. We went to Hall Madden for a custom tuxedo. The private appointment with Claire was such a pleasant experience-especially for my husband who hates shopping. She did his fitting, followed by letting us pick fabrics and fun details for the tux. The fabrics offered were elegant and classic. My husband picked a Zegna fabric. Claire made great suggestions that enabled him to have a timeless tuxedo, while adding his personal touches to the design. When the tuxedo came in, the difference was stunning. The fit was perfect. Discovered Hall Madden while in Business School and after moving to DC, I visited and ordered a new suit from them and it was by far the best custom-made​ suit I've ever ordered. The attention to every detail was impeccable​ and really refreshing how much personal attention they pay to every part of the suit - I'm still getting compliments every time I wear it. They completed my suit within the promised timeline and the service aspect of the whole experience led by Claire in the DC office was world class. My line of work requires business attire. I gave up on department stores a long time ago. Recently I had been purchasing apparel from The Trunk Club. I know that it is just a rebranded version of Nordstrom but, it beats dealing with a bunch of mall rats. While on a business trip the DC, one of my co-workers gave me a business card for a Hall Madden rep. I called to inquire about there offerings and made a fitting appointment . The fitting consultant's name was Claire, she was really helpful and knew more about fabric than I thought was possible. I know Yelp can be a questionable source of opinion but I met with Claire to get a new business suit and was really happy with the overall fitting experience and final product. I like my suits particularly European style and I feel like she listened to my preferences. I have been fitted in the LA office before and my measurements were a little different later on and then updates were excellent. Definitely go to this place if you want a custom suit! Also ask for Bemberg lining - its really soft and airy. I sweat a lot and this helps a ton. read more

I recently got married, and I used Hall Madden to get my suit for the big day. Pleasant and timely service, and the suit looked incredible. I am not a very stylish person normally, but my tailor (Roger) was immensely helpful with picking out details of my suit I had never even considered (inner linings, buttons, lapel cuts, etc). They also partner with local businesses to help with last minute adjustments if needed. I will absolutely be ordering more suits from them, cannot say enough about the quality and service. read more

Hall Madden was my first venture into the custom apparel industry and I couldn't be happier. The shirt arrived exactly as discussed down to the button size/shape and even exceeded my expectations.
