Hands down some of the best customer service out there. They properly social distance and limit the amount of customers in the store. They request that everyone entering use hand sanitizer upon entrance. Some of the best and friendliness employees in DC. They were extremely attentive to us and assisted us with trying on shoes and returns. I got my wife a pair of shoes from NY store but got the wrong size. The refund and return in the store was seamless. They even called the San Fran store to set aside the size that actually fits my wife. Shipping is free. And the shoes are comfortable and environmentally friendly. I highly recommend this store. Georgetown is rough on parking and crowded. So walking or Iberia best bet to get to location. read more

I swear it was literally the night before that I was looking at this shoe company online, seeing they had a Georgetown store planned, and thinking I'd rather wait and try them in person as opposed to ordering online. And then the next day I'm walking through Georgetown and there they are, their first day open for business in the old Ben and Jerry's space near Wisconsin and M. Surprise! What one gets from their website is that they're a New Zealand/U.S. company that makes general-use, nondescript-looking athletic and casual shoes from natural materials that are very comfortable. Some have wool uppers, some are plant-based (the shoes all come with woolen insoles). The salesperson I met was able to recite pretty much everything from the website, but there wasn't a ton of extra help that I needed. The store is fairly minimalist, with some displays on their shoe materials and a few seats, plenty of staff, and not a lot else. Buying shoes online is normal enough these days, but I do prefer to try things on in person as return shipping is a hassle. Notably, Allbirds has a 30-day return policy, and they welcome you to wear the shoes and give them a real try. I was also told that if you buy Allbirds online, you can return them to the store in person. I think that's relatively unlikely for me, as the out-of-box comfort on these shoes was very high. I'm not reviewing the shoes here, but I liked them and I'm looking forward to giving them a try. Notably, they did not have as many color options in-store as online, so I may also buy a different model in a limited edition color online, and bring it back here if it doesn't work out. Actually purchasing a shoe was done by iPad, which took a bit (and I think they must have got my email wrong as my receipt never arrived). At least for now, they are offering a nice-looking reusable bag with DC labeling and a free pair of extra shoelaces with purchase (apparently only if it's a running shoe?). It's an interesting business, a direct to consumer model with only a few stores. I was in New Zealand not long ago, and it is always nice to feel that our city is as cosmopolitan as it is; now we have a piece of NZ (they would say "N Zed") here. We'll see how my shoes feel after thirty days, but I think it's the right business in the right spot. read more

This store was a real (positive) surprise. I came because instagram wont stop marketing the allbirds tree dasher to me, and since no one knows me better than the insta algorithm, i had to see what all the fuss was about. First, the layout of the store is cool and nice, and the staff is friendly and fast, and mind you we were there on a VERY busy Saturday afternoon when it felt like everyone was there. The shoes here are amazing! i was so impressed with the quality, the fit, the styles, and the colors. Most allbirds can be machine washed (unless they have mizzel)- for some reason i feel like people know this about rothys but not about allbirds. also these shoes are SO much better than rothys, they breathe, they feel so well constructed and so comfortable, they also have real arch support. I am very happy i came into the physical store b/c not all of their shoes are made in half sizes, so since i am an 8 1/2 depending on the style of shoe i was either an 8 or a 9 or a 8 1/2 (if the style came in a half size). Also, at first i had thought these shoes were on the expensive side, but having been there and tried them on they are great quality and worth every penny! This is a nice location for Allbirds and we are so happy that they finally have a store in DC! We have been fans of Allbirds since they first came out a few years ago. We love most of their shoe models and also their flip flops! The shoes are comfortable to wear and easy to maintain. We were in the store the other day to buy a new pair. They are enforcing social distancing guidelines and after a bit of a wait, we were able to get in the store to try on the shoes. Staff is friendly and helpful and they made good suggestions on the different shoe styles. Buy was super easy and they even ship the shoe over to you if your size is not available in the store. Allbirds is like the Tesla of foods--emphasis on delivering high quality product a bit different than anyone else is doing. And not cheap. So, you can go and check out shoes ranging between $125 and $135 or so, roughly. And also some accessories whose prices I did not check. The staff was very helpful. We tried a few shoes but neither of us found something that we could quite justify the price for, at least on that day, so we opted to not get something. But we appreciated having the opportunity to try it out--Allbirds does make a quality product. read more

My family and I bought from and recommended Allbirds repeatedly upon discovering the company at it's inception. We constantly recommended the company and shoes to all of our friends and clients - especially those who travel extensively. We recently washed several pair together following the instructions precisely. One pair turned out unwearable as they were defective. Allbirds refused to replace the defective shoes. Allbirds are no longer our favorite shoes due to how the individual employee and thecompany failed to do as Allbirds advertises per any defect. We feel cheated and can no longer recommend or buy from Allbirds due to their choice to not keep their advertised promises. read more

I never understood the buzz until actually going to this location in DC! Super busy, but once you get some help you can try on anything. I went for the "lounge" slip on style with no laces and they're super comfy and flexible. Note- there are NO half sizes so if you're not super uncomfortable in the smaller half size, these will expand and be flexible over time. For one pair of shoes and a tiny pair of ankle socks (2) it ran about $113. Pretty expensive out the door, but so far worth it? I hear they're machine washable too, but have yet to give it a try. read more

My mom did a double take when we walked by and saw the lights on at an Allbirds store right here in DC! She owns countless pairs of Allbirds, and we had to stop in. I left with my first pair, and her and my sister bought new pairs as well. The store is set up well to service people safely during a pandemic, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. All of the shoes we wanted were in stock, and we were even given free shoelaces with our purchase! I will definitely be going back soon to buy a new pair! read more

This is a terrible company! I tried to place an order online and am a repeat customer. My order was cancelled immediately and marked as "fraud," which it clearly is not. I called Allbirds the next day and was told that there was "literally nothing we can do" since the online ordering is done through a "third party platform." She said they don't get information as to why/how that platform identifies fraud. I asked her if I could contact that platform and she said, "no." I have given this company more than my share of money and really do like their products, but to dismiss this issue (which the lady talking to me is clearly aware of since she had a "stock" answer), is just terrible customer service. I asked her if I try to place another order through Allbirds online or even over the phone, would I be able to do so, and she said, "no," but I could buy through a different retailer such as Nordstrom. WHAT? That doesn't even make any sense. And, the lady I was speaking to on the phone seemed argumentative. I asked to speak to a supervisor in the hopes of getting additional information or to at least make them aware of this issue, and she told me they wouldn't be able to do anything either. I told her I would still like to let them know. She then rudely said it would be 1-2 business days before I would be contacted. I told her that was fine with me and she asked me just for my phone number. Awful way to treat repeat customers. Apparently Allbirds would rather lose money and happy customers than figure out why this "third party platform" is erroneously cancelling orders as fraudulent. read more

Five stars in terms of style and comfort. But one less star for in store experience. I went in on a quiet afternoon and there were multiple employees available to help. I asked if they had tree runner shoes in particular color in women's sizes. I was then told that the shoes were unisex and to just tell them my regular shoe size. For me the Women's 10 is too big and women's nine is too snug for my wide feet! I told them this and the employees just shrugged. I ended up going to the website when it noted that men's sizes are 1.5 bigger than women's sizes so I was able to get a men's 9 and it fits perfectly. My only wish was that they had more fun color options regularly available and that they did a better job of announcing the color releases. I can't wait to wear these on my next trip I also picked up a pair of underwear to try and I was happy to see how size inclusive they were. read more
