Soon after arriving in the area, my host, who knows I love a good hike, took me here to this AMAZINGLY beautiful park. Our time was limited because we were planning to meet up with some more friends up in NH, but what we did see was BEAUTIFUL, relatively accessible, and such a WONDERFUL contrast to what I'm used to seeing here in Ohiooooooooo!! There is a short-ish hike through the woods, on a wide, easy, gravel path, which will lead you to the quarry. Just about anyone in reasonably good shape can do the hike up to the quarry, but things get trickier (and MUCH more scenic!!) past this point. You'll go through some brush, wonder if you're still on track, but it will ALL be worth it x 1000 when you "hit the rocks" (no, hopefully not literally!!) and get the most AMAZING ocean view I've seen in a LOOOOONG while!! Step carefully across those rocks if you're an old-ish FART like me, or sprint your way through them if you're like the group of kiddos who appeared to be immune to twisted ankles and other hazards. But DON'T pass on this "gauntlet," because the wonderful views and the fresh sea breeze are MORE than worth the slipped disc (or seven!!) ;-) Take TONS of pictures, breathe in that fresh New England sea breeze, take in the natural beauty and history of this great "walk in the park," and ENJOY!!!

A beautiful and well maintained park. There's a parking lot with an admission fee, but it's a worthwhile price to pay for the amenities. There's restrooms that are odorless though set up for compost, and a filtered water fountain for water refills. There's even stargazing events here with telescopes set up by professional guides. The greenery seems landscaped, yet wild enough that deer can be seen munching on leaves from the gravel paths. There's a number path to take visitors along the quarry and ocean views. There's picnic tables too! Great location to enjoy the outdoors for the whole family.

Really lovely visit! When I went it was free parking but not sure if it's because I came during off season. Easy to follow trails, and they are gravel so it's pretty accessible to walk on. There are some dirt trails if you stray from the self-guided tour as well. There are also rocks that are numbered so you can follow the self guided tour via map I think. We kind of just explored without a map but the numbers were still helpful for that. I saw there's a QR code to a map on the entrance sign. Pretty views of both the quarry and the ocean. Fun adventure if you want to step away from the downtown. There's also a visitors center with restrooms but the sign said it's only open weekends. Not sure if it will be open daily come summertime.

An absolutely beautiful place for a stroll and to take in some fantastic ocean views. Particularly pretty at sunset. Site of one of the earliest radar installations during WW II.

Our day trip from Beverly up the Coast today ended at Halibut Point and we were so happy with our stay. Before the skies opened up with a mega deluge. Although after the fact, it was wicked funny. A beautiful day to start out walking along some trails, views of the Quarry with some sort of duck family lounging on slightly submerged stones enjoying the day out as well. The Ranger helping people to pay for their tickets, I didn't catch his name, was super friendly and helpful with answers. Wonderful trails along with birds swooping, rose hips growing and lovely tidal pools to explore when the tide were out. A crazy big crab that we kept trying to catch, but continued to be allusive There are toilets but I didn't use so I can't comment. Parking was plentiful and a very decent price, $5 for Ma residents. The grounds are huge We would def go back another day and explore the Castle and more trails

Gorgeous and accessible park. You can park for free if you're a trustee or I believe $5 for MA plates. There is a bathroom in the visitors center. The visitors center was unfortunately closed when stopped by. There is a short path all around the quarry which is cool. This path is all nicely manicured gravel path which makes it a really nice and even walk. In addition there are a number of offshoots onto the rocks overlooking the ocean at various points on the trail. It was beautiful to experience and very easy to navigate and get around. Would recommend for all abilities.

The day my daughter and I came here to walk it was pretty quiet, only a few cars in the lot. On the weekends it has been very crowded, with cars waiting in line down the street to get in. This park is very well maintained. Paths are dirt with some rocks and roots, but wide and easy to walk. There are many side paths and nooks to sit and meditate or just take a breath. The views are amazing with the ocean and the quarry's , you can get right down to the ocean in a few places, I used to bring my kids for picnics in one spot that has flat rocks perfect for sunning on calm days. Some areas are dangerous to climb around on and are pretty well marked, just use common sense.

Gorgeous views! You can loop around the quarry or choose to walk down to the ocean and walk on the rocks. Pups are allowed on leash. Parking is tricky right as it's under construction. It opened at 130pm when we went. It's a great and easy walk for kids and families.

New to this area and found this park on Google maps. I had no idea but found this place very pretty. If it is sunny, it will be gorgeous view. It is a rocky beach, so not like laying down or playing, but nice walk on rocks. Dogs are allowed. There is a parking not far from official parking for free.

What can I say about Halibut Point State Park that hasn't been mentioned before? Nothing. This park is absolutely beautiful. If you're visiting Rockport, you have to check out this place. The view from the lookout point is magnificant. Strolling down to the rocks by the water was an awesome experience. Definietly check this place if you're in the area. It's a small park so you don't need to do a whole lot of walking either.

The park is located along the Atlantic seacoast in Rye, not far from Portsmouth. The area is the site of the Pannaway Plantation: the first European settlement in New Hampshire. Settled in 1622, the plantation was completely abandoned by the 1630s when the settlers moved to nearby Strawberry Banke. The land was settled in the mid-1660s by the Odiorne Family, whom the park is now named after. From 1942 to 1947, the park was the home of Fort Dearborn. The ruins of the deactivated World War II-era fort can still be seen today. Today the park is home to hiking trails, bike paths, a playground, picnic areas, pavilions, and a Seacoast Science Center which opened in 1992. My family and I visited Odiorne Point State Park this summer while we were heading to Maine for a summer getaway. We had some time to kill before we could check in to our AirBnb, so we decided to stop at the park. We had fun exploring the grounds and my two sons especially enjoyed playing on the nautical-themed playground. The highlight of the park is the Seacoast Science Center. There are all sorts of exhibits devoted to the conservation of marine and coastal environments. My two sons loved learning about whales, local shellfish populations, the local fishing industry, the fight against ocean pollution, and underwater exploration. There was even a cool gift shop where we picked up a few things. Whether you live in the area or you're just passing through like us, Odiorne Point State Park is a fun place for the whole family!

There's something for everyone. What I'm reviewing is how a spot compares to similar outdoor spots in my personal opinion. Being in nature - and remembering to carry in, carry out - is always five stars! :) Parking? Yes. Loop trail? Yes. Well marked signs? Yes. Element of surprise? Yes. I was looking for state parks in New Hampshire and this one caught my eye because of the name, if we're being honest. It sounded magical! So was the way it was advertised: "picnickers can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and rocky shore, and explorers can uncover evidence of past military occupation. An extensive network of trails wind through the dense vegetation and traverse the park. [t]he property is also renowned for its... seven distinct habitats that can be visited within an hour's walk. Although the spectacular rocky shore is the one of the most notable, the woodlands, uplands, salt marsh, freshwater and salt ponds, and sandy beach (non-swimming) combine to create one of the region's most diverse nature walks." I like a little bit of everything, and this sounded like it had just that! The first time I came I bought a pass online; when we arrived it was a freak snowstorm and we were the only ones there. So we had a literal winter wonderland to play around it. The views from the coast were lovely and offer plenty of picnic tables to sit and enjoy yourself at, but exploring the woods that day was even more amazing - we spent a lot of time with a big buck who kept finding himself lazily meandering on the same trail as us. Thank goodness for binoculars! And the element of surprise! There was also some tremendously graffitied old batteries, a breakwater (that becomes nearly inaccessible when the tide is high; reversely when the tide is low that same area exposes a Sandy beach), there's an area called Pirate's Cove, an old cemetery, and Dolphin Fountain (which looks like it belongs in France, not NH). This became an immediate favorite! I can't wait to come back and see it in Spring and Summer! (SIDE NOTE: There's also the Seacoast Science Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit, that provides educational exhibits related to the seacoast area for a separate fee; but, I haven't been able to check that out yet!)

When I rediscovered it, I was surprised how many little trails there are! If you're directionally challenged, like me, you'll probably want to pick up a map before you start walking. The parking lot is pretty small and fills up quickly. Even when it's full, though, I rarely run into other people walking the trails. I love coming here to just pretend I'm in the middle of nowhere, away from all traces of human life... this is the one place I'm happy to be alone, with no music, no kind of stimulation besides the woods. Is there anything better than listening to leaves/branches crunch under your feet, the wind through the trees, the faint sounds of squirrels running on the ground? I think not. Best of all, the trails are easy enough for most people. There are many short trails that connect to longer ones, so if you find it too easy, you can just keep going. I tend to walk longer than I should and end up sore the next day-- but it's always worth it.

Love that you can spend just an hour or a whole day, since there are so many trails. Not a ton of hills or anything, but the occasionally slight ascent / descent. Followed the yellow and blue trails last time (can't remember the names) and there were a few very unavoidable muddy patches, so make sure you have some footwear you don't mind getting dirty. If you plug it into google maps you may get routed to some awkward non-entrance (we had this problem). Make sure you check Yelp or the Maps app (on iPhone) for the actual entrance.
