Red Rock Park over looks Kings Beach in Lynn. This is a popular place for tourists and locals alike to sit in a grassy park atmosphere and enjoy fabulous views over looking Kings Beach with beautiful ocean views all the way to Egg Rock. Picnicking is allowed but no open flames. You will see events happening here all season from movie nights to small concerts, to school events etc. This is a great place for those with fair skin to enjoy the ocean as there are many trees to give full protection from the sun. Pack a lunch and head on down to Red Rock Park and enjoy all the ocean has to offer. FYI there are no bathrooms available and food is approximately a mile down the street. Dude, where are the trees? I know there are some trees are per the picture, but the park reminds me of a college quad... there are some trees and benches by the perimeter, but that's about it. For the most part, the park is an open green space. Just that more opportunities to rest [on a bench] in some shade would be nice. There is the actual Red Rock, which can be fun to explore for a bit, and check out all the wildlife that are making their home there (even if for a little while). The rock is cool, no negative there. Park itself is clean, and is a nice place to bike through, walk through, or go fishing (I don't, others do). However, because of the limited opportunities to sit on a bench under a tree, this didn't feel like the ideal park for me (rhyme unintentional). If I were walking about the concrete "boardwalk" that runs alongside this park, then I am a much larger fan. A nice place for a bike ride or a walk. It's clean, and fairly roomy. read more

One of our favorite spots wit the kids. It's safe and fairly clean. Daily the rocks and beach are change depending in what the tides brought and left. We have found hermit crabs, small medium and large crabs as well as starfish and baby shrimps. Come check it out before it gets too cold. read more

Fond memories of visiting here when I was a kid. Huge park right on the beach. It's fun walking along the rail next to the ocean, and kids love climbing on the red rock itself. There are tidal pools with all sorts of ocean life. Sometimes there's crabs and starfish. Citizens of Lynn come down on the 3rd of July for fireworks. It's also wicked exciting to be here during a good storm at high tide when the waves are crashing against the ocean walls. Always a fun walk. Only downside, the red tide. Red algae, stinks to high heaven and gets caught in the current circulating on Kings Beach and Nahant Beach. There's good days and bad days, it's worst at low tide when a bunch of it is on the beach and starts cooking in the sun. read more

Red Rock Park gives everyone free access to a long, attractive stretch of ocean. Steps lead down from the well-maintained park to the sandy beach, and in stormy weather pounding waves provide an exciting show of sea water shooting into the air. Walk along the seawall and you'll hear 10 or 15 different languages being spoken - Creole, Khmer, Russian, Spanish, etc. It's one of the few places where different nationalities, races and ages regularly gather and relax together harmoniously. State Troopers patrol the park on horseback; I once asked if they ever had trouble and they said "People who come here just want to be near the ocean with other people; most people are respectful, very friendly and clean up after themselves. A huge crowd watches the July Fourth fireworks from the park and I'm always amazed that the park is immaculate at dawn the next day thanks to the maintenance crew and the crowd. I know, I'm making it sound like Canada, but at Red Rock Park you see the why Lynn residents are proud of the city's diversity. read more

I have such fond memories of Red Rock Park in Lynn. And that's long before the recent face lift it's received. There are now trees that provide shade, flowers, fancy light posts, a wide sidewalk that encourages physical fitness (including embedded mile markers). And then there is the smell. I bet you think I'm going to complain about it. Nope. Not even a little. You can gussy up this little piece of Lynn Shore Drive all you want, but I would always recognize it as home thanks to that smell. This is a great place to walk, to sit, to watch the ocean, to bird watch, to people watch, to eat some yummy beach food (or a picnic). It may stink, but it'll always be home. read more

Very nice park on the ocean. Have loved coming here since I was a kid, climbing the rocks and looking in the tide pools. The summer concerts here are always very good, just wish it was used for a little more during the warmer months; totally under-utilized space. read more

Here is a beautiful park with a beautiful view. You can see everything from the boats near Swampscott, to the beach homes of Nahant, to the sky line of Boston. The DCR always keep this place looking its best. It is such a nice walk from Swampscott all the way down to Nahant along lynn shore drive right up to the beach. Especially on a nice day. Plus good places to eat and drink along the way. It is great to just lay in the grass at Red Rock Park, read a book along one of the benches here, or just plain enjoy the weather. This is one of my favorite places. read more

I'm new here. Less than a month. I live in walking distance, a block or two, from the shoreline. I have heard people complain of the smell also, but I enjoy the strong salty smell. It reminds me of being around crustaceans. It's not fishy, more like lobstery ocean (if that make sense). I can smell it at night from my house when a strong breeze blows by. So far, my husband and I have been jogging a few times around there and it is quite beautiful. They have little 1/4 mile markers in the wide sidewalk. The people are friendly, and I love petting all of the puppies being walked. There are tons of little birds on the beach, and I like sitting on the numerous benches along the shoreline. There have been a few families sitting under the trees having picnics, and I would like to try that when my sister visits-we like picnics. I have never lived this close to the beach, and I love it. I hope to be able to catch one of the free movies at Red Rock Park, and then I bet I will upgrade my rating! I also want to try rollerblading and biking down in that area. I have already tried one of the ice cream parlors (a future review in waiting), but I want to try all of the eateries surrounding my lovely new local area! read more

Beautiful park. Plenty of parking. Nice paved walkways. Nice green grass to picnic on or play catch. You can walk the shoreline for miles towards Swampscott or Nahant. We like to walk there in the summer and stop at Kells Kreme in Swampscott. Good fishing spot. read more
