We had a great time here at Salem Willows Park getting in the water playing on the beach climbing up the rocks walk in the walking path and it's just an overall great experience and great fun that we had this afternoon it's definitely a fun little place to check out

Salem Willows Park is located about a 35-40min drive away from Boston. We visited the park 2 days before labor day (Saturday 2pm) and the lots were PACKED with visiting cars. We ended up parking our car a good 6-7min walk away in one of the lots, but it wasn't a big issue as there are always cars leaving and spots opening up on the streets and in designated lots. It was an added plus that parking is absolutely FREE. The park has everything for people of all ages as well as for those with dogs. There was even a stage area for theatrical shows and gazebos where reserved events were taking place. The public restroom (a green house) was located coveniently in the center of the park and kept in relatively clean condition. One could easily spend hours here exercising, having a picnic, reading on the grass, eating a barbecue, taking a walk with loved ones, or simply sitting on a bench and admiring the views. We did not visit the Dead Horse beach located just a few minutes of walking away, but I imagine it's a wonderful location to swim and admire the sunset during the summer days.

I visit Salem, MA at least once a year and this is one of my favorite spots. As you pull into the park, one side has an old-time feel with store fronts that remind me of an old beach city. Plenty of parking to be had in this location or as the road curves around in the park. Tennis courts are located here if you wish to play. The thing I like most is the green grass, tall trees and a great view of the water (okay, that's three things). A nice place to sit and watch the boats or just the tide. A few year ago I ran the Salem Wicked half marathon and the final stretch went through Salem Willows and ended at the school. Believe me, the park was a welcome sight that day! If you are ever in Salem, take a break, pull up a picnic table or park bench, stare at the water and relax in the park.

Small and cute place for a stroll. Whole town of Salem is very dog friendly. Parking is free and the arcade is fun.

It's a wonderful place to go just to "soak it all in" and take some really beautiful photos. I honestly wanted to leave this place 5 stars so bad but the only thing was stopping be was the hike down to the beach area. There's no pathway and you have to climb over slippery rocks and be very careful even when wearing the right shoes. If you are physically able to go down there though, it's definitely worth it.

OK, Castle Rock Park is cute! We found it on a whim while driving. Its a teeny tiny park, with…read moremaybe 2 benches and a nice view of the water. You'll see a very casual sign nestled between two houses (one is the castle-like private estate the park is named for). To be honest, I was more enthralled with the castle-like home, but alas, it's a private residence and very exclusive, so you can only see a tiny bit of it. It's hard for a coastal park to blow me away because I have some wonderful ones where I live. But, if you're trying to catch some water views while in Marblehead, you should stop by. I noticed a couple climbing down the rocks and foraging the shoreline, but I can't speak to if that is safe or recommended. There's free street parking and it would be a cool place to take a picnic. When we visited, it was totally quiet and private feeling.

When I told him it was my mother's emotional support animal he said, they're not allowed. I have taken this same dog to this park at least twice and it was never an issue. She has a special collar and identification, we even have a doctor's note. I don't get the fuss and bog deal... In my mother's case, she has PTSD, it's crucial for us to have the dog at all times. If you're an animal lover and cannot leave the house without your service animal, do not waste your time and/ or your $25. Endicott Park in Danvers is only $4 on weekends and holidays. I could justify the spend if I were going to spend at least a half day here, but I have a toddler who is going to play for an hour to an hour and a half max. I feel the fees should be well noted so unsuspecting people don't drive here, because like most of the North Shore where neighborhoods and streets are very old it isn't quick and easy getting here. The high rates are probably designed to keep certain people away...you can guess who that may be for yourself.

In scouts we did a lot of hikes to Dungeon Rock, Balancing Boulder, Wolf Pits, Steel Tower, Rock Tower, and all the other attractions in these woods. There's no camping and no fires. This is essentially a municipal park, second only to Central Park in NYC. What is intriguing is the history the woods have. The legend of the pirate Thomas Veal trapped with his treasure at Dungeon Rock spurred the imagination of people like Hiram Marble to use mediums for guidance digging into the rock for Veal's treasure, to no avail. This is the most stirring to the imagination as people visit the woods. Dungeon Rock and Rock tower are not always open (unfortunately). The internet is not a great help, I would recommend contacting the Friends of Lynn Woods to find out when. One must go into the manmade cave cleared by the Marble family who for years used dynamite, hammer, chisel, and baskets to clear out the cave.

There is a body of drinking water that the town uses for its water but the trails are not super close to it. For a bit of one, you can walk near it and the views are pretty. We saw a cool bird near the water - but couldn't tell what it was. It seems like there are some swampy areas so be prepared for the bugs and don't forget to always check for ticks. They're really bad this year!
