Terrible experience, My mother brought her service dog on the 4th of July. The rude and inconsiderate kid at the entrance asked what kind of service the dog did. When I told him it was my mother's emotional support animal he said, they're not allowed. I have taken this same dog to this park at least twice and it was never an issue. She has a special collar and identification, we even have a doctor's note. I don't get the fuss and bog deal... In my mother's case, she has PTSD, it's crucial for us to have the dog at all times. If you're an animal lover and cannot leave the house without your service animal, do not waste your time and/ or your $25. This parking fee of what people pay to park at amusement parks lol Never again. read more

It should be noted here that if you are not a resident of Beverly, they charge $15 to park, $25 on weekends and holidays. Not sure where a public park gets off charging such outlandish fees. Endicott Park in Danvers is only $4 on weekends and holidays. I could justify the spend if I were going to spend at least a half day here, but I have a toddler who is going to play for an hour to an hour and a half max. I feel the fees should be well noted so unsuspecting people don't drive here, because like most of the North Shore where neighborhoods and streets are very old it isn't quick and easy getting here. The high rates are probably designed to keep certain people away...you can guess who that may be for yourself. read more

Presidents and falcons The David Lynch Memorial Park is a lovely 16 acre park right on the water. It has two beaches but both are rocky and tend to get lots of seaweed and unpleasant organic stuff on them and the water is always reallllllly cold. Certainly not the best place for swimming. The park originally had a huge "cottage" owned by the Evans family that was leased out by president William Taft in 1909 and 1910 and was known as the summer white house. I guess the Evans family got tired of all the publicity and tourists flocking to the cottage so they put the whole cottage on a big barge and moved it across to Marblehead and made the area into an Italian flower garden. The Tafts had to find another summer place but the park and gardens remain. It is a lovely place with lots of flowers, picnic tables and great views of the harbor. The park even has an replica of the famous Falconer statue in Central Park, New York. A lovely place to take a walk any time of the year. read more

I visited Lynch Park once for an engagement photo shoot and it was gorgeous. I can't imagine a more scenic location if you're looking for something with just the right mix of natural & romantic. We went at the end of May before Memorial Day so it was a bit cold, and because of how cold the spring was this year, there were just a few green plants growing, but it was enough. Definitely wait until later in the year if you're looking for more flowers and plants. Parking was free though it looks like before Memorial Day is considered off-season, after which there is paid parking through Labor Day. For our purposes, the park was perfect. I can see it being a beautiful spot to visit for family picnics and summer concerts as well. read more

I headed back to Lynch park thinking maybe in the early spring it would be better than when I was last there. I was wrong. The beach is rocky. The view is just eh okay and it was packed full of overbearing parents yelling at their kids. Question: Why take your kids to the beach if you want them to stay out of the sand and the water? You take kids to the beach they are going to get sandy and possibly wet. Don't take them otherwise. One mother spent the entire hour I was on the beach yelling at her young son. "Johnny stay out of the water. Johnny don't do that, Johnny don't do this, Johnny Johnny Johnny." By the end of the hour I was hoping johnny would slip off one of the many rocks on the beach and into the water. The rest of these reviews read like a high school history project. I don't care about the history when I'm listening to a kid get hen pecked by his mother. What I care about is if I can lay in the sun in peace, can I paint a watercolor in peace? I don't want to HAVE to wear my iPod to enjoy the day part of the reason to go to the beach is to listen to the wave and wind. Dane Street beach is less crowded has better sand and the view is just as nice. I wish the city would spend some of it's money on repair of the bathroom and shower facility. It's the most underrated of Beverly's many beaches. In short if you are going to go to Lynch Park wear your iPod and wear sneakers. It's loud and rocky. Better yet just go to Dane Street or don't I'll enjoy it's relative quiet. read more

As a child I used to look out my bedroom window across the bay at this park every night before I'd go to sleep, how could I not review it?! well, the concession stand I remember being pretty cool, the rose garden is still amazing to this day sledding used to kick ass, and it just is a nice place that brings back lots of fond childhood memories. Great park area, nice place to picnic, but I'm still not sold on the two beach areas they have. Huey Lewis played there once, and it was back when people cared. read more

Beautiful park... especially the gardens.... and the ocean view... on the non-Power Plant side. The history here is with regard to the original owners... they had this great house at one time here. Their main house was in NYC and overlooked the Falconer Statue in Central Park (http://www.centralpark2000.com/database/falconer.html). They loved it so much that they had a replica cast for here. After the gentleman died, his widow leased the house to President Taft in the summers during his Presidency. Well for one summer at least... she hated the crowds, the security and the press... so she had the house floated over to Marblehead and built the rose garden. Taft moved over to the house on Paramatta for summers. Taft arrived via boat or train at the nearby Montserrat train station (Don't go and look for anything there... the old station is gone and the Commuter rail stop is now a garbage and graffiti strewn eye-sore.) Bring a jacket as the wind here can make it chilly... some of the Moms on the playground can do the same but they can be forgiven. Lots of summer concerts by local bands of every type. Summer movies too. Park is in the process of being reconfigured and revamped. Beaches are a bit sea-weed covered, littered with washed up trash and rocky. High tide all but eliminates the ocean side beach. read more

A great place to bring kids and hang out for the day. Nice big open field, plenty of benches, two beaches, a playground, a concession stand and a beautiful rose garden make up this beautiful facility. I've always loved to ride my bike down there and hang out with friends. Why only four stars? It's very simple, the beaches are just not that good and kind of dirty. I know I'm comparing apples and oranges here, but Stage Fort Park in Gloucester has everything Lynch has and more. Their beach is beautiful and clean. Yes, I know Gloucester is known for their beaches and stuff, but Lynch Park just doesn't cut in in that department. Other than that, it's the best place to be in Beverly during the Summer and Fall (at least after all the kids at their camps leave, another complaint of mine...) read more

This is NOT a good place to take a young child. First, there was not a changing table in the whole park. After paying to enter, I expect this bare necessity. I was told by an employee to just change diapers outside. I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. Every single picnic table anywhere near the shade was covered by backpacks and personal belongings of the children in the various rec programs so that we could not sit and eat lunch at any of them. The wooden play structure was swarming with 5-year-olds wearing T-shirts identifying them as part of the Bev Rec Tiny Tots program. They were essentially unsupervised; the adults with matching shirts were in a corner gabbing. The bigger kids pushed my 2-year-old down, refused to stop climbing up the slide so my child could go down, and in general made it miserable to try to supervise my own child. The so-called "beach" had a pile of what appeared to be imported sand before you hit the uneven, sharp rocks and murky, algae-ridden water. The only redeeming part of the park was a pretty flower garden. I e-mailed the director of the Beverly Dept of Recreation about my concerns, but never received a response. read more

Great park! Right on the water and plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the view. Well kept grounds for family/friend picnics and BBQs. During the summer Beverly residents get in free but there is a fee to park in the parking lot for non-residents. There is not much for on street parking around the park if you do not have a resident sticker. In the off-season the parking lot is free for everyone. During the summer season there is a snack bar with Dick and June's Ice Cream. Enjoy! read more

Great park! Sometimes they charge parking fees in summer but off season it's all free. Wife and I regret not getting married in the rose garden but maybe for some anniversary! Great playground for kids and beautiful views all around. They rent kayaks, have a small amphitheater, and have a volleyball net. Bring your camera as there is great light all around. Lynch Park is one the best perks of being a Beverly resident. It has beautiful grounds. Three Beaches. (The best is Rice Beach, which many do not know about. You park at Lynch Park and it is short walk from there. Or you can walk there from the park at low tide) Its has a lovely Rose Garden, Carriage House, playground equipment for the kids, a half shell stage for concerts and events and a concession stand during the summer with food and Captain Dusty Ice Cream. You can rent kayaks and paddleboards in the summer or launch your own. They charge for parking during the summer, but Beverly resident are free parking. Just an amazing asset for Beverly. read more

Nice little park in the area. I would go in the off season since it's not worth paying the parking fees (during the summer you can park several blocks away and walk there) . The garden is nice and it's right along a nice scenic view of the ocean. If you go during low tide you can check out the small tide pools in the rocks. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid, whether it was to play in the rose garden, or run around on the big play ground on the point, or to see a concert at the shell. We never really used it as a beach place, as you can read from the other reviews the beaches can be dirty and crowded. There are far better places to go and swim if you want to. I will not knock it down for that though as I am not much of a beach person and there is no better place to go sit on a hot summer evening and eat dinner than at Lynch Park with its breeze. read more

I love, love LOVE Lynch Park. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is that view/sandwise it is no Devereux Beach or anything like that, but it is an AMAZING and beautiful place to go tide pooling with your kids at low tide. I find tons of sea glass every time we go. It's clean. The garden is beautiful. They have bathrooms though I've only been there off season so they were never open but overall for a day to spend with your family, or alone to clear your head... it's great. The only thing I don't like as a mom of two small kids is their playground. It's just not really safe for little kids (side rails but no spindles on the railings etc.) so it's really only for older kids. They have a tiny little set up for toddlers, but they get bored in about four minutes. Overall I love this park. I think it is free for residents, and for anyone off season. Memorial Day through Columbus Day it's $5/car on weekdays, $15/car on weekends. read more
