Great little beach in Beverly. Gorgeous view, not too crowded on a weekday, free parking on the street and in a small lot, and even a bathroom! I was here for a few hours on a June Wednesday and really enjoyed it here. There aren't many waves, making Dane Street Brach a great spot for families with young children. Please note, however, that there isn't a lifeguard at this beach. It is pretty rocky here, so definitely recommend water shoes. read more

For being a small beach, it is quite lovely. There is a beautiful little park where one can enjoy the shade of the trees and the gentle sea breeze, and plenty of space to settle in. There are some draw backs. The water is only 2-3 feet deep for a good quarter of a mile from the shore, especially at low tide it is a challenge just getting into the water because of all the damn rocks! Otherwise, it's nice being able to go for a swim and yet be a 5 minute walk from downtown Beverly. It seems to be a challenge to find a good place to swim, in Lynn the red algea ruins the beach (but I have heard it is well under control this year) and for something close and quick Dane Street will do. read more

I had an overall great time at this beach but it is pretty rocky/shelly until you are able to get beyond into the softer sand (once the tide goes down). It is not too big but the water is calm and seemed pretty clean so I would definitely go again! read more

Bathhouse was closed both times I visited. A lot of seaweed. But, it's nice because you have sand and grass and sidewalks and nearby places to eat. Free parking. Not overcrowded. They also have a nice park for children that right where beach is sort of kitty cornered from bathhouse. If you have to use restroom, you have to walk to a nearby gas station. read more

The key to enjoying Dane Street Beach is to look at the tide charts ahead of time and then arrive at LOW tide. You'll get a great expanse of shallow water -- knee deep to waist deep. For small kids, you could not ask for a better beach -- if you like kids (which i certainly do) you'll enjoy watching 'em splash around with delight on a hot day. If kids are not your thing, just keep wading out, you can almost walk clear to Salem. There's something very calming about it. The reason for four stars, rather than five: At high tide, it's just another beach. read more

this beach is very special to me as I grew up across the street from it so it was kinda like the best front yard ever! To the average person it might not be as great as I remember so I will review it trying hard tot to make it too personal. It has a decent stretch of sand, that's a little rocky. It's warm water due to the bay, and pretty clean. There is a bath house with bathrooms, a nice park, parking, and tide pools off to the left. Dane St Beach is the red headed step sister to Lynch Park. You know the one that gets beat on? everyone in the city wants to tell you about Lynch park, "oh it's so great, look at the pretty flowers." I want to tell you about the screaming kids and harassing mothers at Lynch Park. And I want to tell you that Dane ST Beach is where it's at. Eff Lynch Park with it's bjorn baby moms driving BMWs. Dane St has loads of soft white sand and when the tide goes out you can walk in foot deep water for hundreds of feet and completely change your view. If you go early in the AM there are a few die hard yoga enthusiasts doing yoga in the ankle deep water and it's great to watch. The grassy area is dotted with nice large trees for shade and there are always college kids hanging out playing frisbee or catch. Here and there are quiet couples reading books or snoozing in the sun. If kids are screaming you can usually re-situate yourself so you can't hear it or the parents have the decency to rush the child off the beach and give the rest of us some peace and quiet. In short Dane ST has nice views (except the salem stacks) nice sand and a nice field. It rules, by far over Lynch. So take that Lynch Park! read more

The locals flock to this small, inlet beach every hot summer day. When the tide goes out, it is very nice, because you can walk really, really far out on the sandbar. It's a solid three-star beach. Not much of a gorgeous view (Salem's smoke stacks are pretty much right in front of you), but the water and the sand are perfect on a hot summer day. read more

this place can get pretty dirty. if you're looking to come to the beach to set up towels & make trips from the water and back this might not be the best. i think the water is kinda mucky to go swimming in here. it still has great vibes and views. read more

It's no Bahamas but, for the area, Dane St Beach is do-able... But you have to know when. Like, during a nice summer day, no problemo -- you'll find the very long field preceding it to be dotted with all the book-reading, kid-toting, dog-breeding locals that spell, "This is a cool place to chill." But, if you pull into the parking lot to hang out, or walk the beach, on, say, a Saturday night, it's a little different. Last times I checked, weekend NIGHTS are when some local, and not-so-local, kids hang out and play their car stereos pretty loud. And, you know, behave like typical kids/punks and, sometimes, leave their trash around. So, Day = Yes; Night = No.. unless you're a kid/punk who likes to play loud music and leave your trash around. The beach is not as bad as one reviewer described. I've never seen broken bottles and band-aids, etc... but I HAVE seen how far out the tide goes which makes for a lot of exploratory fun for kids and kids-at-heart. The view is pretty breath-taking. There's a few islands within view, like cocktail cove and you get to see the lovely twin smokestacks of the Salem Water/Sewage plant (you get used to it)... Dane St Beach is within a hop, skip and a jump to several convenience stores, a gas station, a local movie cinema and all kinds of breakfast, lunch and dinner places. It's also on the way between Salem and Marblehead so you can explore in either direction. And, if you're not from the area, it's about 10 minutes from route 128. Bring a dog, bring a frisbee, bring a kid, bring a spouse, bring a bff, bring yourself... Just Bring It! read more

This beach was AMAZING for sea glass, hence it gets 4 stars. If I were reviewing this beach for quality sand, good swimming conditions or being a great place to hang out in the summer it would probably be 3 stars. The sand is rocky & although it was winter when I visited, I couldn't imagine it's a great place to relax on the summer "sand". As for beach sea glass however, this is the place to go!! read more

This is a great beach to bring kids because it is small enough to keep them contained, the bathrooms are close by, and it doesnt get crowded. Plus, its free to park and there is a hot dog stand!! It is VERY rocky. Its painful to walk in the water, but if you wear water shoes you will love it. read more

It's not the nicest beach in the world but I've been going there almost every day this winter with my two pups! During the winter dogs are allowed ON LEASH. ;) ;) Supposedly you can get a ticket for having a dog off leash... However, off to one side is technically a private beach and the owners don't mind off leash dogs! I believe after 7 pm dogs are allowed year round! Singing Beach is much nicer and dogs are allowed off leash during the winter. I'd recommend it over this beach but this is much more local for me so it's my go to destination. read more

I may be biased because I only live a half a mile away, but I love this beach and the accompanying park. It has a bathroom (very key if you have kids) and recently it has been cleaned up, raked and less rocky/sea-weedy than in years past. A great mix of kids, adults and families. Lots of free parking also! read more

If you want a nice quiet beach to relax on, don't come here. Too many of the Kevin Federline and Vanilla Ice look alikes from Lynn come here. Go further North for a real North Shore beach experience. read more

Love love love love love this beach. Yes - it's an inlet beach so you're not getting the same experience as if you were to drive another 20 minutes to Cranes Beach or something, but for my needs, it fits me perfectly. Being able to sit up on the grass and read my book, yet still see the ocean is amazing. Walk down a few steps and your able to cool off in the water. You have to cross a couple feet of rocks in order to get into water deep enough to swim. But having it 10 minutes from my Mom's house is well worth it! read more

I went to college in Beverly and I drank my face off at Dane St Beach. It was so awesome to be able to walk down to the beach and spend the night drinking and hanging out with friends. There were some nice places to hide out, and we never caused trouble and were never hassled. If you live in Beverly I would recommend trying it. You don't have to be in college, just within walking distance. Don't drink and drive of course. read more

Growing up here you cant not love Dane St. It was the best place to either kick off or end the night. Its packed with locals in the summer. All you need to know is wear sandals in the water because it can get quite rocky. read more

A nice crowd frequents this place - parents with small children, dog lovers, sun-worshippers, book readers, college students (some with pink hair), oldsters, youngsters, Brazilians, Russians, locals, you name it. Not for snobby types, though. - ya gotta like and appreciate all makes and models of humanity. New beach cleaning equipment keeps the butts out of the sand. The water is clear and clean (except for the bits of seaweed and unavoidable flotsam). And there is no need to look at the smokestacks, they're way off to the right. Just look out past the islands - next stop Portugal. read more

There are positives and negatives to this beach. The beach here is part of a park and there is plenty of green grass before you get to the beach. What's nice is that the park and beach are relatively clean, so the upkeep is pretty good. The free parking along the street is also a bonus. I noticed many cars had town of Beverly stickers, but I didn't see a sign only allowing residents to park. The beach itself is nice and mostly free of rocks. Once you go into the water, however, it is very rocky, so I recommend sandals or aqua socks for going into the water, otherwise your feet can take a beating. The only downside to this beach is that the bathrooms were horrendous. Most of the toilets were clogged and the only decent toilet had almost no toilet paper left on a Saturday morning! If you bring your own roll you're good to go! read more
