One of my favourite fish & chip restaurants. I've been coming here for years and years. Fish, the halibut is cream of the crop but it'll set you back. Their batter is light. Fish is always fried to perfection. The cod has a special on Wednesdays, so it's really such a better deal. They have various other specials throughout the week. I prefer their poutine over most places. I have travelled all over Ontario and I still prefer theirs. Perhaps my opinion only, but their cheese curds melt creamy soft but still whole chunks (not squeaky cold chewy curds like how other places boast). They give you decent amounts of gravy because that's the only way poutine should be served. Tartar sauce. Used to be unlimited packages - some simple brand (I don't recall the name). Then some time later they made single packages shaped like the peanut butter sized small rectangular sized. Now they've swapped to another package similar to the first but not the same but they do limit how many you get - not unlimited but sufficient. Not a huge deal but tartar sauce is a must with fish and chips. Definitely a place worth checking out if you love fish and chips, the upgrade to poutine makes it 10/10.

My go to chain for fish and chips. They have Wednesday and Sunday specials starting at $12.99 which is a fair price. The fries were soft and not as crisp as I would like and the coleslaw is decent enough (for someone that typically dislikes coleslaw). But this is a fish and chip establishment and fish is the most important item to rate. Its served with a consistent crunch to the batter and although it comes apart easy when cut, the batter stays with the fish so you're not awkwardly poking around trying to put the pieces back together. There are probably more boujee places that serve dishes for $20+ but Halibut house doesn't miss.

Halibut, fries, coleslaw

Something fishy about this review... Large location with comfortable booth or table seating. Quick and friendly service, and lots of food options. They even have Grape Crush...I was in overly excited! We had the Halibut and chips, with coleslaw and it was fresh, crispy, and very delicious. Also tried the deep fried mushrooms with ranch sauce. We requested they exclude the Parmesan cheese. They were good but a little smaller size mushroom would have been nicer. This location is very clean, and so was the woman's washroom. I'm definitely going to this location from now on.

Hit the spot with this fish and chips spot! Been driving by this fish and chip spot and it's really sparked interest, so I decided to grab some take out here. It was an easy phone call to order ahead of time so that I can just walk in, pay, grab and go. Upon arriving, the place was pretty full with diners. It's not a fancy place, don't expect it to be but looks like a low key spot with amazing food. I got the haddock and chips and halibut and chips and both were great. It came with all the regular fixings you'd get in the restaurant like packs of vinegar, tartar sauce and ketchup. The fish pieces are large and crispy. Fries could be a bit crispier though and can spend some more time in the fryer. Pricing is about mid range pricing, nothing too expensive or cheap in my opinion. There's weekly specials and takeout specials as well that are pretty great if you want to try this place out.

Fish and chips | Breakfast| Franchise Great restaurant if you're craving for some nicely fried fish and chips. Also an amazing simple breakfast starting at $5. I especially appreciate their fried home fries. Fried to perfection and was crispy. Bottomless coffee to wake you up. Service was great and quick. Wifi available.

Here for the Sunday special

Saw earlier reviews giving this place a 1 star, my honest opinion is 3.5 star. Don't know how they came up with that unfair rating!!!! I've eaten at this location on occasion for many years, yes the price has gone up with inflation, but look at the picture for the portion! It is the actual size of the Sunday special. I took the picture with a fork and salt shaker as reference. You be the judge! I personally don't think it's small, I'm a big eater, and I'm full from the serving. Value 4.5 stars. Food quality 3.5 star. The waitresses are by no means rude, but they're too busy to chit chat with you. Service 3 star. Decor is nothing special, just a family restaurant... 3 star Overall 3.5 star, round up to 4 due to the value.

This place doesn't disappoint when it comes to decent fish and chips at reasonable prices. They also serve a daily breakfast special starting at $3.95 (no meat) and $4.95 with the choice of meat (sausage, ham or bacon) from 9am to 2pm. Wednesday special is King Cod with chips for $12. Sunday and Monday special is Haddock with chips $11. Complimentary coffee refill. The service is friendly and quick. Ample parking in a small plaza. Restaurant isn't anything fancy - simple but clean.

This place is a solid go to for fish and chips. If you're having the craving on a Sunday/Monday they have a halibut and chips special for $9. On Wednesdays they have cod and chips for $10. Ordered take out here and really like how they pack up your order for you. Fish is fried nicely. Halibut and cod are both crispy on the outside and I believe the halibut has a bit more of a firm texted compared to the cod, which was soft and flakey. Their fries are good, but I wish they were a bit crispier. Overall great choice. They also serve a cheap standard breakfast if you're ever looking for that! Would recommend calling ahead just for convenience.

Really bad tartar sauce

Starts with checking online menu - no pictures, no prices. Called server suggested lunch size $15 for 3 oz of fish and very little batter. See their picture of thw small square of fish - thats it. One dollar more is supposed to be proper size but who knows what that means. Cold fries somewhat better after nuked. No lemon and packets of really bad tarter sauce. For this small meal - 4 bites- I had to heat it, cut some lemon and use my own tartar sauce. Go to Royal Oak - $17 for twice as much really good food.

Chicken souvlaki (top) and Halibut fish and chips with a side of gravy (bottom)

I came here on a Saturday evening with a friend and it was a little busy but we were able to be seated right away. I got the halibut fish and chips and my friend got the chicken souvlaki. Their halibut was sub par and pretty average. Their fries could have been salted more too but at least they were crunchy. The chicken was really good though and surprisingly juicy. The staff were really friendly but could be hard to flag down sometimes. Parking is a breeze here since it shares its medium sized parking lot with the plaza which isn't very busy.

So much chips

Fish and chips local spot we passed on many many spot and finally got a chance to try it. We ordered the two piece cod combo and halibut combo. The fish were all really crispy and the chips had the great crispy and soggy texture. The fish all had a great light batter exterior with tender fish inside. The cod was nice and flaky and the halibut was extremely meaty. The only downside was it seemed that they might have missed our coleslaw.

2 eggs breakfast with sausages
Victoria S.

I was a little skeptical at first due to the appearance of the plaza and external storefront but upon going in, it's got cute diner vibes for breakfast! On a weekend it was the perfect kind of busy, no lineup but lively enough to bring up the atmosphere. I ordered the 2 eggs with sausages, home fries and buttered toast which was more than enough food for me. Our home fries were freshly made so it was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This place is such a reasonable price which is hard to come by these days. The tea and coffee have unlimited refills as well. Overall, I'd come here again for the breakfast diner experience.

The restaurant is a decent size with a cozy and relaxing ambiance. We ordered some of the most popular dishes, and everything that came out was absolutely delicious. Every dish had its own unique flavour and taste. There was a small mix-up with our order when one of the staff accidentally brought us tofu shrimp instead of the fried rice we ordered. Amy, one of the servers/managers, handled the situation so professionally. Even though it was already last call and the kitchen was closing, she was able to have the correct dish remade for us. She sincerely apologized for the mistake and even gave us a complimentary plum drink along with some butter cranberry cookies. Amy provided exceptional customer service and was absolutely awesome throughout the experience. Despite the long wait, the food and service made it worth it. The modern, chic decor sets a wonderful ambiance, and the service was immediate and welcoming. The food was spectacular from start to finish. We started with fresh, warm bread, followed by a flavorful seafood gumbo loaded with meat, and a generous portion of two lightly breaded crab cakes. For our mains, the 10oz ribeye and 8oz tenderloin were seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection--compliments to the chef! They came with a lovely side of baby potatoes and vegetables. We capped off a perfect meal with a warm pecan tart and ice cream. I highly recommend coming here. They operated for 30 years at their old location. This location soft-opened on 2026-02-12. We came on 2026-02-25 for dinner. There were still some furnishings to complete (there were unforeseen delays). They kept the same menu offerings but it will be expanded within a month. We ordered the following: 1. Citra Terre D'Abruzzo Pinot Grigio - Italy (glass $14.95). 2. Coke. 3. Crab Cakes ($19.95). 4. New Orleans Shrimp Cocktail ($19.95). 5. Jambalaya Aranchini (weekly special). 6. Every dish had an excellent presentation. We spent a lot of time taking photos and videos. What did you expect from me?! We loved all the dishes! The portions were large! There are more staff than in the previous location, allowing the service to be excellent. They tend to have many loyal and returning customers. Every table starts with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was so fresh! The three appetizers tasted good. They each had a little kick due to creole cuisine. I loved the shrimp the most. The Blackened Lamb Chops was perfectly cooked. Each of the four pieces were very tender, accompanied by a delicious sauce. The dish had some very nicely cooked seasonal vegetables: roasted potatoes, a red pepper, string beans, a broccoli, and a carrot. This dish will be put into their regular menu in the near future. The New Orleans Fisherman's Plate is great if you want a little sampling of their seafood: Blackened Fish, Cajun Calamari, and Coconut Beer Shrimp. It also comes with rice and seasonal vegetables. The fish was so good! We brought some home for my mom and she really loved it. The Coconut Beer Shrimp was on top of a Orange Marmalade Sauce, which is really liked. The three desserts looked really good and tasted good. I loved the pecan pie the most. They can split dishes in half in the kitchen and serve them on two dishes for two people to share. The restaurant uses fresh seasonal ingredients and spices to create authentic Creole and Cajun tastes. Everything is made in-house except for bread and butter. In the near future, their bread will be made in-house too. Currently, there is only indoor dining but they are looking into the possibility of sidewalk outdoor dining. Mike Djurdjevic runs the front of the house while his wife, Mira Djurdjevic, operates the kitchen. Their son, Marko, also helps in the front of the house. There is a large pizza oven at the back of the restaurant. They will be introducing creole pizza in the near future. There is a separate large room for events, parties, etc. This room will be ready in the near future. They also do catering. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There is one gender-neutral washroom, which is also wheelchair accessible, and one female washroom. Thrre is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2026-037

Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). That tells you something!

The restaurant is brightly lit with lots of natural sunlight, the decor is a mix of elegance and rustic at the same time. It's got an open and inviting feel. Our server was fantastic - very patient with a large group like ours, able to tell us right off the bat what is and is not customizable, recommendations of when to order to ensure flow works out. Food: Charbroiled octopus - one of my favorite dishes I tried - perfectly cooked, has a nice char, good meaty bits but not chewy, has a really nice chili oil on it. I can not stress how much I recommend getting this if you enjoy seafood. 5/5. Chorizo appetizer - comes out in a little pig plate with an open flame underneath. The chorizo itself is good with a nice spice, dense meat. The best part of this dish (IMO) is the spiced apple sauce on the side that cuts the richness of the sausage with a sweet and tangy apple and a little spice kick. 4.5/5. Bread - fresh baked bread with butter, a pumpkin jam and cheese. Everything on that plate works so well together. I definitely recommend this as an all rounding pleasing appetizer - 5/5. Beets - the beets were fresh with a vibrant orange colour. The apple, walnut and goat cheese all work together. I do wish this dish had a bit more but it works. 4.5/5. Brussel sprouts - amazing deep fried brussel sprouts - makes me want to always deep fry them for life. The spicy harissa sauce works well with the sprouts. Crunchy peanuts on top add both a texture and nuttiness that is refreshing to the brussel sprouts. 5/5. Oysters - super fresh, absolutely delicious without any condiments needed. Loved them. 5/5. Paella - this is definitely large enough for 2 people to eat so consider sharing unless you have a monster appetite. As with all their plates, it is beautifully constructed. The shrimp are huge and meaty. Mussels are plentiful, lots of chorizo and bay scallops. The rice has that really nice briny seafood flavor from the broth. It was just a teeny tiny bit overly salty to my taste but it's cut with the dollops of sour cream. Has this really nice low level heat that just works without burning your mouth. 4.5/5. Lamb sirloin - great crust on the lamb and cook as well. Flavorful sear and crust on the lamb with a soft tender meaty interior. Can't go wrong with- 5/5. Branzino - delicious flaky and light with a great grill. If you're interested in a fresh fish, this is a good choice. Was a special on the menu - 5/5. I noticed that there were many different flavours in terms of lobster dishes, which is good if you want a little variety and you don't want to get bored of having the same flavour the entire meal. We ordered the lobster in cheese sauce, lobster fried with garlic, and of course, the lobster mountain. They serve the lobster mountain with the little fried fishes which taste amazing on its own, and even better paired with congee or rice. We also had the steamed bass and crab legs which were tasty as well. However, there are a few cons about this place. The location is small and not very roomy, so it gets uncomfortable if you're with a big group. I felt squished sitting so close to my relatives and by the people sitting at the table behind me. Also, when the servers brought the live lobsters out, they let it crawl on the lazy Susan. The water that it was swimming in was left and not cleaned up which grossed me out. Not an appetizing site. Seafood was pretty average for the price paid. I probably won't come back here on my own because of the cons that I mentioned, but who knows, maybe I'll be back if my family drags me out here again.
