As someone who always looks for a distillery stop when paths cross, Widow Jane did not disappoint. The space has a great industrial, Brooklyn-cool vibe, from the tables to the shelving to the bar itself. It feels intentional, hip, and still very much focused on the whiskey. What I really appreciated was the flexibility of the experience. You can order cocktails, flights, and even single or double pours, which made it easy for our group to explore the lineup in different ways. We ordered different flights across the table so we could sample broadly, and that approach paid off. They also offer a small but thoughtful selection of food items, perfect for pairing with tastings and taking the edge off while you explore the lineup. Nothing heavy, but exactly what you want when you are spending time with good whiskey. Two pours really stood out. The 10-year distillery-only release was excellent and worth the visit on its own, and the Black Opul 20 Year was something special. On the nose it leaned heavy into mature oak with some dark chocolate and dried fruit, and once you sipped it you got caramel, toasted nuts, a little leather, and a finish that just kept hanging around in the best way. It is one of those pours that makes you slow down and really appreciate what is in the glass. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff knowledgeable, and the experience approachable without being dumbed down. A great stop for both casual fans and serious bourbon drinkers alike. Glad we made the stop, and I would absolutely return.

Steven is the owner , bottler, shipping, & production manager. He has a unique background coming from Wall Street to Gin Developer! I purchased a bottle of the plum Gin as it was unlike anything I've ever tasted and smooth‼ Trivia : Business is located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This area was settled originally by the Dutch and they named it Groen Hoek(green corner), as it was once dense forest . The name anglicized into Greenpoint when the English took over.

I'm a huge fan on gin and tonic my preferred brand was always Bombay until I tried this. While waiting for other guests to arrive we were offered 3 different drinks with the 3 different gins. I opted out for the popular gin and tonic. During the tour we sampled their three gins: the traditional dry, the old tom, and a unique beach plum variety. Hands down this was the best and unexpected gin tour as well as tastings. Ended up buying their traditional dry and the beach plum variety which goes deep into getting the plums from Long Island. Amazing tour and very friendly tour guide Steven, purchase the deal and you will not only learn about gin but have a blast.

I decided to do their tour on a Saturday with a group of friends and I'm so glad we did! This place is definitely one of Newark's hidden gems! The distillery takes walk-ins but I would 100% recommend doing a pre-booked tour. Prior to your visit, buy your tour ticket on their website or Groupon. The ticket comes with a drink, a tour of the facility, tastings, and a souvenir! The owner Gil, is knowledgeable & so welcoming! He gave us an informative tour and allowed us to taste a few of his great products. If I had to choose two favorites I would go with the Malt & Grain Pot Still Whiskey and the Cathouse Pink Pepper Gin. The whiskey, gin, and vodka are all so smooth. You really can't go wrong with any choice! The bartender was amazing & gave us great conversation along with recommendations for drinks! This place is BYOF (bring your own food) so feel free to order a pizza or a light dinner from somewhere nearby! This was an awesome experience & I will definitely be back!

Gil is very helpful with organizing private tours and small parties. you will receive tastings of whatever is currently in process. i personally hate Gin and whiskey, but i am drawn to the licorice notes in the gin and the smooth taste of the whiskey here. he has so much information about the local distillery history, the process of making liquor, and overall interesting knowledge about alcohol. tour can be 20 to 30 mins. street parking outside, and ive always been lucky to get a spot! my only complaint is how hot it is in here. ive come here in april and in july, both times i was covered in sweat.
