We got takeout from HalfSauced for dinner. Two of us shared the Sampler Platter (3 ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, burnt ends, Texas toast, pit beans and potato salad), six smoked wings, spoon bread (a type of cornbread) and a large piece of peach cobbler. It was a lot of food, but we finished nearly all of it. The meats were all delicious, especially the burnt ends. The potato salad was pretty tasty, and I enjoyed the spoon bread. We looked for a place to eat out at the lake and this place popped up. The reviews looked great and we're always up for BBQ so we hopped in the car and made the hour long trip. It was worth it. We got sample platter and the 2 meat combo platter...all to share (2 men & 1 woman). Sides were pit beans (yummy) fries and both the creamy & fresh cole slaw. Both were okay but I preferred the creamy. The pit beans were very good and I would recommend them as a side. With a party of 3 the sides were just right. Lots of fries in the order tho. Plenty of meat to share. The sampler came with burnt ends, pulled pork, beef brisket & 3 ribs. 4 triangles of bread & 2 sides. The combo came with any 2 meats and we chose the beef brisket & sausage. 4 triangles of bread and 2 sides. We are full and so glad we didn't have breakfast this morning ;) The sauces were good. Sweet sauce - good flavor Spicy sauce - good flavor & not too spicy Mustard sauce - different but good Extra spicy sauce on demand. Very good! This place is mediocre at best. Baked beans were so smoked they were inedible almost like they were scraped off the bottom of a burnt pan, burnt ends were chewy. I've never had burnt ends that weren't moist and tender. Other people with us did say the ribs and onion rings were good. I personally would never go back. We were at a store next door and the bbq smelled good. That was definitely where the good stopped. After 45 minutes of waiting they seated a table of 6 next to us. 15 minutes later we were told it would absolutely not be more than 5 more minutes. 7 minutes later she said that our food was coming up, she was taking care of our drinks and asking the manager to take care of the food. We were staying at the Margaritaville resort for a family reunion and had read some great reviews on HalfSauced and called them to see if they could do an order for 40 of us later that night; Not only did Andrea and the HSB crew get it done, they got it done in an incredible way. We ordered the brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken and ribs for our gathering and they were all amazing, the pulled pork and the ribs were my personal favorite. For our sides, the obligatory creamy cole slaw was fantastic and the baked beans were also killer. I didn't personally have the green beans but the entire order of them was devoured (guess they were pretty good). Hands down amazing! Sweet bbq sauce and mustard bbq are delicious, meats are smoked to perfection, and the sides were so much more than expected. Met the owner (Andrea) as well, super sweet and very genuine, you can tell she loves what they do. So let me start with saying this is my first trip to Missouri and I am use to the BBQ in the South (the Carolinas). My son and I both got the 4 meat sampler and had them add the Smoke Sausage. Our wife's both had the Half Smoked Chicken. the chicken was very good. Now on to the sampler. Very disappointed. The ribs were basically burnt and dry. Almost as if they had been sitting out for a good long while. Brisket, very dry. Burnt end, not the best I have ever had, but certainly not the worst. Pulled pork, dry and no smoke flavor unless you decided to smother it with sauce. Smoked Sausage, it was ok, but kind of hard to mess that one up. The beans were cooked a way I was not familiar with, but they were ok. The potato salad was pretty good. I guess with all the talk about BBQ (Kansas City style), I was expecting much more. We placed a catering order for pick up right when they opened on a Saturday. When we arrived there were 3 people waiting for them to open. They got them seated checked with us, confirmed everything in the order and then insisted they carry it out to the vehicle for us. I can not tell you the number of compliments we received on the food. They even called the next day to make sure everything was good. This was some of the best smoked barbecue I've ever encountered, including my own. We got there during their busy time, but the staff was prompt and friendly. We didn't have to wait for seating, and barely had to wait to order. Annabel was a great waitress, not too overbearing and not too neglectful. Cheerful and charming was she. Easily the BEST brisket I have ever eaten! The brisket didnt need a knife, they were smoked to perfection and made me shut up and eat . The ribs were extremely tender and fabulously tasty. Our sides (Cole slaw, potato salad, baked potato, fries, pit beans, & spoon bread) were well made and plentiful. The service was excellent, welcoming and accommodating (one of us made a lot of substitutions ). The worst part of the meal was when the food was gone. We finally got around to trying Half Sauced last weekend. It was a very good choice. I could complain that they were out of ribs and pork steaks - probably their biggest sellers - but most good BBQ places do tend to run out in the evening, so I figure it comes with the territory. There were four of us, two adults and two kids, so we decided to build a family style BBQ dinner. We weren't all that smart about it as we duplicated a couple of items. Anyway, we ended up trying the wings, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and burnt ends. They were all at least very good. The pork and brisket were a little dry and definitely required sauce, but all of it had a great taste. My favorites were the wings and burnt ends. The kids didn't want to try the burnt ends due to the name. Okay, more for me, then. For sides, we had fries, cheese fries and pit beans. They were also all really good. Service was very good, prices were reasonably for this quality of BBQ. We'll be back for sure. read more

I'm from Indiana, so get me into the South and I'm impressed by pretty much any BBQ you throw at me. I met some friends for lunch at Halfsauced and yep...was very impressed. When I walked in the door I could smell smoky meat. My first thought was, "Oh my gosh, they are actually cooking the meat here!" Feel sorry for us, Southerners. I went with the pulled pork sandwich - seemed like the right thing to do - with the smoky beans. Food was good! I ordered the Pork Belly Burnt Ends special (first night they made it) and it was amazing (even great cold according to my boyfriend)! Boyfriend ordered the burnt ends and smoked chicken and he felt like the sauce over powered the flavor of the meat. Walked right in on a Saturday night and got seated but that's not a bad sign. The BBQ was excellent. Our table had the pulled pork and burnt ends. Both were juicy, flavorful and plenty big enough portions. Burnt ends were hot when served. Pulled pork was barely warm, would've liked a hot sandwich. That's not enough to pull a star away though. Loved having the sauce selection on the table. Beans were just ok. I've had better. But that doesn't mean much, they were still good beans, I just like them more loaded with chunks of meat. My whole family loved this amazing restaurant. Classic smoked meats and sides, done extremely well. Best restaurant in town.

The food may have deserved a 4 star, but the service dragged it down. I think we had a new server because he had to return to our table on two occasions to confirm our orders. Plus, we had to ask for drink refills every time our cups got low. The food was good but not great. The best part was the pit beans and the side salad.
