I've liked every sandwich I've tried here, most notably the Portabello Boomer - that thing is heavenly to me. They get points just for their selection; as other reviewers have said, you can pretty much get anything you can think of. It's pretty noisy inside when it's busy, but that's to be expected considering the location. All in all I enjoy Half Fast, and it's definitely somewhere I'll continue to go when I'm craving a good, creative sub. read more

They have fantastic long island iced tea's that are served in a pitcher.. Say what! seriously, this place is fantastic. The sub I had was pretty tasty (the half fast sub). I thought it was scrumptious compared to subway and quizno's. I still think that Snarf's has better sandwiches, but Snarf's doesn't have the long island. Wasn't sure to give 3 or 4 stars...3 for the actual product but 4 due to the size of the menu. Mostly Half Fast has a bunch of ingredients that are mixed-and-matched to create the variety on their menu. Yes, most could make these subs at home as most of it is assembly. What a vast and creative menu! A 7" sandwich is about 6 bucks and is a full meal. I got the "Jerk cheesesteak" with Tempeh and it was just epic. Best sandwich I've had in a while. Service was great also, friendly and fast, and patio seating is a plus. Warm vibe, lots of college students. read more

The Godfather sandwich at HFS is excellent! I usually go for the "Italian" type sandwiches, and this one is no exception. Piled high with meat, cheese, and veggies, even the small (7") is more food than I should eat in one sitting. But alas, I never seem to be able to quit after the first half. Established in one of the older brick buildings on The Hill, HFS has a very extensive menu, and a large selection of drinks to boot. Three large screen TVs keep you entertained while waiting in line (plenty of people love this place so you WILL wait), and playing cards help the staff keep track of who ordered what. There are plenty of places to eat on The Hill, but Half Fast Subs is the sandwich spot of choice for me. read more

The sandwiches are massive for the price, and they have a HUGE selection. Most 7" subs are around $6, and a huge 14" sub for like $12. The 7" is plenty filling, my friend got a 14" and only ate half, using the other half for lunch the next day. The steak and cheese was good, the meat was fully cooked and had a nice peppered flavor to it. My friend got one of the "stuffed subs," it had mashed potatoes, gravy, grilled onions and chicken fried steak on it. The French bread they serve the sandwiches on is also super delicious, crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Everyone says I have to go back for their drinks, and to take advantage of the patio on nice days. I'll definitely be back. read more

Great selection and tasty subs, I had their local signature sub which i liked very much. Prices on their beers are reasonable.

Try the Gobbler. Complete with cranberry sauce, it's Thanksgiving in a sandwich.

Been coming here regularly for 2-3 times a week for the past year for pitchers and â sändwich and they never disappoint but for the first time today I tried â sälad and had to say something. In my opinion the Thai chicken salad is one of the best in boulder, perfect portion and flavour definitely will explore more sälads here. read more

My favorite sandwich in Boulder this far. The menu is HUGE which is one of the points they sell themselves on. In my experience the bigger the menu, the worse the overall quality is, however that isn't the case at all here. So far, I've had the cheesesteak hoagie, and the big apple hoagie. The cheesesteak was good, the cheese was actually the most standout flavor, and it was enjoyable. The Big Apple hoagie, which is near a combination of pastrami and reuben, was absolutely incredible. This is the sandwich that will be bringing me back time and time again. Atmosphere is cool as well, awesome casual college town feel to the place. read more

If I had to tell a non-Boulderite where to eat, this would be the place. After spending four years in Boulder, I can confidently say that this definitely one of the best places on the hill, but you need to go at the right time. A lot of people complain that HF is too pricey and takes forever. This is true, but if you go during the day or happy hour then you should get some of the best deals in Boulder without the wait. Great atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating, three tv's, tons of choices. Also, their drinks make it a great pregame spot for the bars. read more

A Boulder classic. Don't be afraid of the giant menu. There are many great options of subs as well as salads (my favorite sandwiches are the Thai Tempeh and the Gobbler). Drinks are always incredibly tasty as well (try a pitcher of Strong Island). It gets very loud in here at peak meal times and at night whenever CU is in session. Having moved away from Boulder recently, this is one of those places I still find myself craving (and occasionally driving back for!). Yum! Oh and you can get carry out. read more

I have been going to Half Fast for years and I'm never left unsatisfied. They sereve great drinks and food. It's a great place to eat lunch/dinner or drink and watch the game. There are over 100 sandwiches but they are always coming out with more. I just had the baccon cheeseburger sandwich and omg, just came out. I give it an all around 5 stars! Eh. This place is just...eh. The sandwiches are OK, a little on the small side with few toppings, the bread has been a little soft (toasted) the past couple times that I've been there. It's got a very wide range of choices (cold and hot sandwiches), which is a huge plus in my book. A little pricey for college kids so I'm not sure they're in the right location. read more

This was one of my regular spots when I attended CU, and I still like to go back from time to time. The have an enormous menu, so be prepared for that. But it also means that there's a sandwich (or wrap!) for everyone. Being in Boulder, there are also plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. The food is ALWAYS good. They also do great margs/long island ice tea/etc. It's just a great place to go. The only downside is that I always stink when I leave. Even if I order to go, or sit on the patio, my hair and clothes smell like the restaurant. There could be much, much worse things, though. :) read more

Half-Fast completely lives up to their slogan: "ain't no half-assed sub shop". I have never seen so many choices for different kinds of sandwiches! Whether you like chicken, turkey, beef, crab, shrimp, or you're a vegetarian, there are more than enough options to satisfy your sandwich hunger. I try to get something different every time I go in, but my favorites are the green turkey and the veggie. If you feel like being rebellious and going for something other than the choices presented to you, you can make your own with any of their multiple ingredients. Their milkshakes are also really good, and you can combine any of their flavors into your own unique icy treat. Half Fast is also a great place to go drinking with some friends, they hand our pitchers of beer and margaritas, and you can get any shot you'd like up at the front counter. It's decoration on the inside is typical of a college town, with hand painted murals and a very at home feeling. Sometimes I crave Half Fast enough to have it delivered, which is saying something. Moderately priced and completely delicious - it's a perfect little sandwich shop among the menagerie available in Boulder. read more

Went with a large group and found that ordering was super quick despite the fact that it was lunchtime on a Sunday. Sandwiches were delivered fast and none of the orders were messed up! Start off by saying it is still a pretty good sandwich, but it used to be a great one every time. Here is what we noticed yesterday. Bacon cheese burger, used to have two full patties, now just has junks of over cooked burger, not near as good. Next they didn't put the care, to have meat and toppings even in either of our sammies, my last 5 bites had no burger to be found. These are the things they used to be great at every time. This place is completely hit or miss. It used to be one of my favorite places in Boulder, because when the food is good, it is really good. However, I don't really go there any more because I have had enough terrible experiences with their food (and service) that I do not feel like gambling each time I go there, because when it is bad, it really sucks. If you are a gambler, go for it though, because the food is really good when they are on point, which is about 2/3 of the time if I had to guess. read more
