This is a very popular boba and tea shop with several locations in San Gabriel valley that I have been to. There is always a curtain up so you cannot see the employee prepare the drinks. There is always a long line and the drink can be customized by level of sweetness. I usually order a boba unsweetened and the texture and quality of the boba is fresh. The tea isn't too bitter either. They have recommendations posted on the top drinks and what to add inside. They sell small snacks too. I usually can't finish the entire drink so I wish the cup was smaller. It's usually a very large cup and when you tip it to drink from the straw it spills onto your clothing. I think it's related to the large volume of the cups. All drinks are sealed with plastic and you puncture it with a boba straw. They are also selling stainless steel boba straws. They have a stamp card for each drink purchase. The stamp card is going to be phased out by July according to the employee. read more

These people here can't make slush. How can you mess up a drink using only beans and ice cubes? It said red bean slush, not red bean water. It was so watery that only a hint of bean flavor was identified. Didn't taste anything else. Worst drink I had ever tasted. read more

Half and Half Tea Express - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Arcadia, California

Gone to this location a couple times now. Staff is good. Drinks are always made well. My main issue is the fact that the company claims to offer almond drinks yet in ths entire year of 2018, they never had them except once 2 months ago and then never again. Might as well remove them from the menu. read more

I love the specials that they suggest!! Every time I am here, there's always a wait, and plenty of people hanging out. During the summer they are also doing a free super upgrade! read more

I've always loved half & half. They have an extensive menu so there's something for everyone. Drinks can be pricey depending on what you get. I love me some good boba though, so I'm willing to pay for it lol. This time I tried their iced milk with strawberry, pudding, and honey boba. The regular size came out to be around &6.I got it 50% sweet but next time I will get 75% since I prefer it to be a tad more sweeter. It was pretty good and reminded me of a strawberry milkshake. read more

Whoa, free upgrade. Not sure what the current promotion was, but when they ask you if you want to upgrade for free, the answer is yes and can I have 2? I came during lunch on a Friday with a co worker who has never been to an Asian boba shop before. She opted for the mango slush which was humongous. I got a taro slush with taro pudding. The pudding was more like jello. Overall, everything was good. The wait wasn't too bad and parking was ok, but this parking lot looks cramped. CASH ONLY (booo!) read more

This Half and Half express is tucked away in the corner of this plaza. The store itself is pretty tiny compared to the other half and half locations, there are only a few benches which might be mostly for waiting for your drinks but there aren't any designed areas to sit down and drink with your party. Their top 10 board is located on the wall on the left when you come in. They have green tea jelly again here which is awesome. I either get the red guava green tea with tea jelly and honey boba. The Bo's coffee is pretty good, it was the name that made it really intriguing and wanted me to try it. Also, the classic iced milk drink with honey boba and pudding is always a good choice. They are cash only here. read more

This is a COVID-19 related review: Overall, the company does a great job with sanitation. All staff members working in the kitchen had gloves on and face masks as well. One point of concern was the cashier who did not wear gloves and had the napkins/straws on the counter right next to the cash register. To avoid issues in the future, I think they should move it behind the cash register so that there is less chance for multiple people to grab the same napkins/utensils. Oh and please wear gloves too cashier! read more

Half and Half Tea Express - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Arcadia, California

While this may be the smallest boba joint I've ever seen, this H&H definitely lives up to the "express" part of its name- cash only, super fast service, and extremely competitive pricing. The cashier girl was very sweet in proactively telling me about their free anniversary promotion (complimentary size upgrade)...why yes I would love to have a large! Lol. For those who have trouble make decisions at a place with endless customization options (all a manner of levels of sweet, types of jellies and puddings, tea flavors, temperatures, etc)...there is a SUPER helpful list of the top 10 drinks sold at H&H... I ended up with the No.2- lychee green tea with aloe, skipping the lychee jelly. I'm still impressed by the copious amount of *real* aloe bits in there. Maybe it's because I'm used to settling for aloe flavored jelly, but at this H&H the green filaments embedded into the cuts of aloe really reassured me in the fact that I was, indeed, eating real aloe bits. Awesome way to stay cool on such a hot day in Arcadia! read more

I ordered the Rose Black Tea in large size. They are very stingy with boba, so few that I can literally count. No rose favor at all. Tea is very bitter. Quality definitely gone down compare to my past experience. I will not revisit again, especially when there are so many other boba options nearby. read more

I'm so glad this Half & Half opened in my area! I don't think many people know about this location yet since we went on Friday night after dinner and there was.. no wait! The staff was really friendly and made our drinks pretty quickly! We got out typical Iced Milk with Caramel, Pudding, and Honey Boba and it was perfect. Since they recently opened a few days ago, the staff said their menu is currently a bit limited. I can't wait to come back again! PS there is plenty of parking in this lot and you can combine stamps from other Half&Half Express locations with this branch! read more

I feel so disgusting to have boba tea now after getting a drink with a long hair inside. I don't know how they manage their cleaning, but this is the first time that ever happened to me. Half and Half Tea Express - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Arcadia, California

Only Half & Half would dare open in a location already saturated with as many as 10 other boba shops in a 1-mile radius. Situated next door to the popular Ramen Yukinoya, this Half & Half location is designed for to-go orders as this is their smallest store - only a row of seats for while you wait for your drink and no tables. The drinks are on point as you'd expect from any of their other locations; the consistency of their drinks and the novelty of honey boba and iced milk drinks (Half & Half is the first boba shop to have both!) has allowed them to become a premier boba chain in the 626. Service was super friendly. The cashier made sure I knew the menu I was looking at was a soft opening menu, although it was actually pretty complete. There was no wait at all, but I am confident that will not be the case during peak hours in a couple weeks or so. My only complaint is that there is no escape whatsoever for me when I have boba cravings, which is quite often. With already 2 locations exactly 1.1 miles from my house, there is now another one when I go out to eat in Arcadia. I hate and love you for that, Half & Half... read more

This location is smaller than the other ones and the spacing is really odd. There's like a bench area to sit and no tables. But then again it is an express. The door is really close to the register so I can't imagine what it looks like when there's a lot of people. My drink tasted exactly like the other half and halfs and since there isn't one closer to where I live I am satisfied. I usually go for the ice milk with some type of tea less sweet with boba, taro pudding, and coffee jelly. I like the coffee jelly here because it isn't the cube ones that you find at other places. It has the pudding texture but coffee flavored! read more

Half and half continues to be my favorite boba place, even after a million cajillion other boba places open up. They got rid of the bucket cups at this location but made it a bit more car cup holder friendly. I think it's the same size but hard to say. Place is tiny - long and narrow. We walked in to be very loudly greeted by the friendly cashier. Friends took a good peruse at the menu. I got my usual iced milk with strawberry, honey boba and pudding. They also have a very nice top 10 list and I'll sometimes get something from there. They've got some chairs/benches lined up in the back, along the walls, for your wait. But it's not really meant for hanging out. There's also some chairs and benches outside, where it would be better to chill but then it's also kinda shared among the other restaurants on either side of Half and Half. Plenty of parking in this shopping plaza and you can pick up a drink while you're grocery shopping at Aldi or after a yummy meal at any of the multiple restaurants here. Drinks are delicious and I recommend you come visit. read more

yayyyyy i've been hearing so much about half and half since I moved to LA and finally had a chance to get some boba after grabbing some dimsum nearby. I live in DTLA so it's quite a trek out here but so worth it! I ordered the sesame milk green tea with honey boba and it was delicious! nice amount of sesame flavor and the drink wasn't too sweet (I usually always order half-sweet but I forgot this time in my excitement to order). The boba was fine - it wasn't exactly the mini boba but not exactly the regular sized boba either. I normally don't even get boba but figured I would try it since you have to go with the classic for your first time. Next time, I'll probably try the grass jelly or pudding. They have a stamp card which I always appreciate. I was told you can only use them at half and half tea express though. Only thing is, this place is TINY. I could barely get in and order since the cashier is in the front and everyone just crowds around there waiting to pick up their drinks. Not really ideal for forming a line. They have some seating along the hallway in the back and some chairs out front though. Last thing - this place is CASH ONLY! so don't forget to stop by an ATM if you normally don't carry cash. read more

Props to whoever that made my drink!! By far the best half and half I have ever had out of all the locations. I ordered a white iced milk with caramel and egg pudding with extra ice and it was perfect. This is the only drink that I get at half and half and this location couldn't make it any better. I got my extra ice as asked and it was not too sweet and not bland! I just wish this location wasn't so far but I'm ever in the area, watch half and half, I'm coming for you! ;) read more

My favorite boba place in the area. My favorite is Bo's coffee with honey boba or the regular milk tea with honey boba. The drinks are never overly sweet even when I forget to order half sweet, which is a plus. Bottom line: whatever you get, add the honey boba. It's always served hot and tastes delicious! read more

This might be the newest location for Half and Half. In the same plaza as CVS, Moffat's and that one ramen place. :) Surprisingly, all the people waiting outside are waiting for the ramen place and not Half and Half. No line when I came Sunday afternoon for a boba fix. I already had boba during the week, so I compromised with myself and ordered a green tea with grass jelly. They still have the summer promo going on in October, where you can tack on a green apple green tea with lychee jelly for $2 more. I thought I'd give that a try and added it on. Total spent was $5.53. Pretty good drinks. I can see myself coming back for a nearby drink fix. Edit: There is a line when you come here for Thanksgiving! I stand (in line) corrected. :) read more

Out of many places, I enjoy getting their boba and pudding in any combination of drink or smoothie. I'm not sure if its the consistency or taste, but it works for me. Very disappointing experience this time. I was trying to explain to my Irvine friend the importance and significance of half and half. We ordered the Almond milk tea. A relatively safe drink. Usually a pretty mellow calm almond flavors masking the bitterness in the tea. Unfortunately there was barely any almond. It was a light brown color versus the usual milky tan color. :( I worked at half and half a year ago, so either they changed up the recipe or it was made wrong but... MAN WHAT A LET DOWN. How can i defend the half and half legacy when the almond milk tea tasted like watered down milk tea!? I even ordered it less ice to prevent wateryness. Its worth noting that half and half has a remake for free policy (from what i remmember), but we were already halfway out the parking lot so we didnt turn back. So ill settle for a two star. See ya never Arcadia H&H! read more

New location of Half and Half! I used to not like there drinks because they were so sweet, but I really enjoyed my less sugar drink. Small and tight inside, like all the other Half and Half's Can get really cramped if there were a lot of people in line. No tables, just two long benches. Not really a place to get boba and chill. Drink take like 5-10 minutes to make, even longer if it is packed. Milk Tea w/ Boba and Pudding, large - $2.85 + $.50 + $.50 + $.85 - Back the first locations opened this was so sweet. But I got less sugar and it was perfect! You could taste the milk and tea flavors without the sweetness killing it. Boba was warm and chewy. Pudding was like eating daan tat custard, so good! Coffee Milk Tea w/ Boba and Taro Pudding, large - $2.85 + $.50 + $.50 + $.85 - I wanted to try something new. Less sugar. Good blend of coffee and milk. I could taste a lot of hazel nut creamer. Taro pudding was good and not as sweet as the egg pudding. Got bamboozled into getting the larger size for $.85 more. I kept telling myself its so much bigger for so cheap! Make sure you shake all the boba around before poking the straw so you can evenly mix the boba syrup throughout the drink. Still hate these fat cups since they fit nowhere! Less sugar is a must! read more

Overview: Half and Half Tea Express is a To-Go version of the original sit-down Half and Half Tea in San Gabriel, CA. It serves top-notch milk-tea and slushee boba drinks in large quantities with wonderful twists such as grass jelly, hot honey, and pudding. The Food: Half and Half Tea is known for its "Hot Honey" but don't let that stop you from tring out everything on their menu. Whether it's a fruit slushee, grass jelly, boba, almond milk, or hot honey, I have always been very pleased with the flavor profile of what I get fro Half and Half. I love how their "large" size is practically a small bucket, and I absolutely love they give you the option to keep their ingredients unblended because the novelty of swirling it around yourself is actually pretty relaxing. I give my highest recommendation to the drinks at Half and Half Tea and have not yet determined what is my favorite. I almost always order off their "Top 10" menu and have never been disappointed so my recommendation is to do the same. The Establishment/Service: There's not much to say because it's a very tiny place with no table service. They're decently quick considering their popularity. Also bring cash! No credit cards are accepted here at least as of Oct, 2015. Conclusions: Exceptional drinks, great creativity, moderate pricing, but To-Go only :-(. read more

Half and Half is one of my most frequented boba shops in town, and the reason for this is their honey boba. Their boba is always sweet and often fresh and hot, but never the kind that chunks up and sticks together. My favorite thing to get here is the iced milk drink (+boba), which is basically a milk slushy with boba syrup and boba. I believe it's one of the top ten drinks, if not the #1 drink on the bulletin in store, and it really is the best, if you don't mind that there isn't actually tea in the drink. Like many shops in the area, ice and sweetness can be adjusted. They have a huge drink menu, with some novelty flavors like guava, which aren't found in most stores. While their actual tea is just mediocre, the milk tea and flavors are pretty good. For flavored teas, like rose or guava, this is the place to get a drink! The service is usually friendly and quick, but there's limited seating at this location (just a narrow walkway). There is shared parking with the rest of the shopping strip and the lot is busy, but there's usually free lot parking available. The only reason I gave this location a four star is for their lack of seating and crowded ordering area at times, otherwise, one of the best boba shops, even with so much competition in the area! read more

Drinks and boba are excellent, as expected. Half & Half has always been my favorite boba chain and this new location doesn't disappoint! Big cups, warm fresh boba, generous pudding portions, delicious teas/milk drinks, what is there not to love? This tiny store is located in the wee corner in the same plaza as CVS on Baldwin. Definitely the tiniest Half & Half I've ever seen! No indoor or outdoor seating anywhere, so this place is strictly to-go (there are a couple chairs inside for people waiting for their drinks but no tables). Personally I still prefer the Foothill location in Arcadia even though it is farther away from me only because I love the cozy interior decor and the indoor seating there. Ask for a stamp card! Also keep in mind that since this is an express location they only accept express stamp cards! Cash only! read more

didn't like the taro milk tea at all, it was too chunky and just over all no good, ppl were nice tho

The drinks were decent, service was fast. I ordered the almond milk tea, it was pretty good without me having to ask for less sugar. It was hard to locate (but that's not necessarily their fault). Stop by if you need a quick drink. read more

Overall: No seating area...it's an express. One thing I love about half&half is that the quality of their drinks are consistent wherever you go! Half&half is my favorite boba milk tea place. Great place to get dessert after ramen next door! Parking: There is a big parking lot in the front. It's located in a plaza. Interior: Small. Wood decor. Service: Good friendly customer service. Food: Yummy drinks! I always get the caramel, pudding milk tea with honey boba. If you want it less sweet or caramel, just let them know! The combination of the ingredients are all good. Good amount of everything! Price: $4-5 Ratings: Love this place. Great location to get boba after ramen! I just love half&half in general. Get your stamp card! read more

I don't get why this place has low ratings. The iced caramel with pudding and boba is really freaking good. It's not necessarily milk tea but it works for a sweet tooth like me. The pudding is the right texture and the boba is just the way I like it...not too chewy and not too firm. The caramel gives the drink the right amount of kick! I highly recommend this location - very short lines and the drinks taste just as great as other locations. Be warned that express locations use their own stamp card! At this location, I've had the Bo's Coffee latte + honey boba, osmanthus ice milk drink, almond milk tea, lavender milk black tea, oolong milk tea, and taro milk tea. All are great, even at half sugar (do it...). They used to sell their drinks in very wide-based cups, but now they are narrower and taller (perhaps to fit in the car cup holder?). I'm not sure if the volumes are equivalent, but I'll calculate the pi*h*r^2 next time :P read more

I always stopped by there to get a drink if we were around that area. The store is really nice and clean. They're able to make the drink with less sugar so the drink can be not too sweet. Stopped in here while waiting for a table at ramen yakinoya next door. My cousin and I were super hungry and decided to order some milk tea before our lunch! The half and half store is quite small and they're quite busy so the line to order can get cramped very quickly. I was disappointed to find that they don't have thai tea on their menu and opted instead for their taro milk tea with some green tea jelly added. We paid (they're cash only) and were handed a receipt with our order number on it. They have some benches and chairs inside the store for you sit while you wait for your order and minute later our drink was ready next to the cash register. I was happy with the size of my "regular" sized drink and it was love at first slurp! The taro milk tea was sweet without being overwhelming and I appreciated the layer of finely shaved ice instead of the usual ice cubes that other milk tea places use. A nice surprise was the little bits of taro at the bottom of the cup which I think adds a nice texture to the drink. At first I was confused what to do with the green tea jelly because it was in large chunks at the bottom of my drink but I found that they easily broke apart and were able to pass through the straw without a problem. Half and half was able to deliver a delicious milk tea and I would definitely come back here again! read more
