The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! I've been thinking about this meal ever since I left the restaurant. You don't want to skip this place.

I just feel like the flavors could have been better on everything I got. I had one dish that the The chili chicken was sweet and spicy but it wasn't particularly better than any other spicy chicken I ever had. The jhol momo tasted cheesy which was unexpected and didn't go with the sauce or broth. The roti was more tortilla sized n pretty flat. Maybe that's just authentic to Tibetan cuisine. The empanada things were fine.

The meal was seamless from start to finish, the food, the service, the atmosphere was all great. Food came out quick and our waiter Kais took care of our group effotlessly. I really enjoyed my meal overall, I would say the apps and mains were both delicious but I would give an edge to the mains. The food: Borani Banjan- This was the highlight app for me with some freshly made Afghai Naan. Man this was so good and a must order. The eggplant was cooked perfectly. Bamia- This was like a stewed Okra and I loved this dish, the okra was cooked down but the flavor was so damn good. Mantu- This was a nice delicate dumpling, it was made well but because of the cumin I couldn't help think it reminded me of Tex Mex food. Aushuk- This was OK, it was kinda strange because there was this fermented flavor to it that kinda bothered me. Chicken Afghani Kabab- I am shocked to say this but the chicken was my favorite protein. It was perfection, it was perfectly juicy with a nice smokey outer char, this was amazing. Uzbeki Qabuli Pulao- This was a braised lamb shank and was no teeth required tender. It so incredibly delicate and so delicious. Salmon- Fat slabs of salmon cooked to perfection with a nice outer smokey char. So good. Lamb Kabab- This was fine but not as exciting as the above. The lamb was chewier than I was hoping but the flavor was nice. Beef Kofta- It was like a ground meat patty. It was ok, it was a bit chewy and a bit dry but it was alright. The two I want to try on my next visit is the shrimp and the lamb chops, can't wait for a second visit.

The guy seemed very attentive, wearing gloves and everything; overall the truck was clean and the food hit the spot - even the rice was pretty good, let alone the other ingredients. I'm visiting NYC on a work trip from California, and I didn't realize how much I was craving…read moresomething that felt a little like home until I ate here I had the N2 Spicy & Tingly Beef Muscle Hand-Ripped Noodles, F4 Spicy & Sour Lamb Dumplings, and the L2 cucumber salad, and honestly, I was so satisfied. Let's start with the noodles They're thick, chewy, and super bouncy -- literally my favorite kind of noodle. The hand-ripped texture really comes through, and every bite had that satisfying chew I'm always looking for. This is 100% my noodle type. I'm not Chinese, but I've had a lot of Chinese food in LA, so this didn't feel unfamiliar at all. I went with the default spice level, and it wasn't overly spicy, just super flavorful with that signature tingly kick. Comforting, bold, and very easy to keep eating I was actually hoping to try N1 (Spicy Cumin Lamb Hand-Ripped Noodles), but it was sold out super sad, but now I have a very clear reason to come back. The lamb dumplings (F4) were great too. You can really taste the lamb, which I loved. The wrappers are a bit thicker, but that feels very traditional and totally works When things started getting rich and spicy, the cucumber salad (L2) came in clutch Fresh, tangy, and perfect for resetting your palate mid-meal. I came in pretty close to closing time, but the staff told me to take my time and not rush, which I really appreciated. Small thing, but it made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming Also... I didn't even realize this was a chain until now I've never seen Xi'an Famous Foods on the West Coast, please open one in California already!! We need this!

Three of us came here for dinner last night (Tuesday). At 7:00 pm, place was pretty quiet. The…read morerestaurant is small-ish and it looks like most tables are for 2. We got a four-top at the front of the place. The restaurant decor is pleasant. It's a bit dark inside, but welcoming. Our server was very friendly. We started by ordering three starters - Mantu Dumplings (described in the menu as: steamed dumplings w/ beef, onions, cilantro + spices, topped with garlic mint yogurt sauce and garnished with lamb gravy and yellow split peas), Borani Banjan (eggplant) and Bamia (okra, stewed with tomato and onion sauce). Each of the starters was great. I think my favorite was the dumpling, followed by the eggplant and then the okra. Although the okra dish was delicious, it seemed like the simplest one, and one I could make most easily at home. The server suggested we get an order of Afghan Naan to go with the starters. The Naan was "OK". I would call that the weak part of the meal. It was fairly flavorless and didn't really enhance the flavors of the starters. The three of us shared two entrees - Chicken Afghan Kabob and Salmon Kabob. Each comes with a large side of rice. We also ordered one Qabuli (a rice topping made of raisins and carrots, sautéed in a cardamom syrup). The Qabuli is an extra dollar. The server said he would put it on the side, which was an excellent suggestion, because the rice was flavorful on its own and the Qabuli on its own made an excellent, sweet side dish. The Kabobs were both very good. The chicken was moist and tender and nicely seasoned. But the salmon - oh my gosh - the salmon light, flaky texture melted in my mouth. I couldn't stop eating the salmon. The rice was flavorful and the texture consistent. Before serving the entree, the server brought over a small salad to share, which was refreshing - lettuce and tomato and cucumbers. We didn't order dessert. But the server comped us a Firnee (homemade custard), which was very good. We were so full we couldn't finish it (or most of the rice from the entrees). The portions here are a nice size. Bottled waters were $2 each. They were ice cold and a good value for a restaurant. Honestly, the prices here overall are very reasonable. The food is good and nice portion sizes.

The lunch special included a few pieces of chicken kebab and a ground lamb kebab along with salad and rice. The rice was very flavorful and delicious. The meat was overall good, but some pieces were a bit dry. Overall, I really enjoyed the flavors of the food and would get it again. Service: Staff were really friendly, but the service was quite slow considering we were the only ones ordering food at the time. I wouldn't come here if you're looking to grab a quick lunch to go. Ambiance: The restaurant is small but has tables for you to eat at. They automatically charge a 20% gratuity for parties of two or more if you want to dine in. Overall, I would recommend this place!

One thing I really like about this place is that they serve crunchy fries with my chicken over rice. The fries do take up a lot of space on my to go box. One side of the box is the salad. I think the overall portion for chicken over rice is on the smaller side but it because they serve sides. I think the chicken is a bit bland and more spice would be better. Even after adding the white and green sauce I think it's a bit bland. Maybe I should try a different sauce with my food. The place has seatings and seems pretty clean. The service was quick and they have a big tablet for you to order food. They accept cash and card for payment.
