Very disappointing experience. Flavour is lacking. I originally liked it here back when they first opened... now, however it's subpar. New chef or new owner - not the same as it used to be. I'll be going elsewhere from now on for Hakka.

Manchurian chicken with egg chow mein

After a nice excursion at the nearby greenwood conservation area, this place showed up on yelp and it seems to be well liked. The lunch special is $5.95 which is quite reasonable considering that the portion is enormous and really big enough for 2 to share. I had the Manchurian chicken with the egg chow mein for $1.50 extra. In hindsight, I should have just stuck with the chicken chow mein that comes with it. The food was decent. I found nothing bad about the service, food or cleanliness other than an overwhelming amount of oil in the noodles. It just tasted kinda meh. The staff was really nice and helpful. This place is definitely a 'quantity over quality' place and I would go here if I was on a tight budget. While it was decent, I don't think I would return here again.

    Combo B

Go here at least 1x/week when too lazy to make dinner. We love their Combo B (chicken fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, 4 chicken wings). 1 order can feed 2 unless you're like my son who eats a lot lol. The chicken fried rice is flavourful on it's own, the wings are yummy, and the sweet & sour is good too. I alsp recommend their dry Manchurian chicken -- so delicious! I dont think I've ever had bad-tasting food here tbh. Have also tried their Chicken Pakora - looks different than others but also really good. Yes the interior is small (they make most of their business through takeout it seems -- there are always people going in & out for takeout), the servers are average, but I mean if you're on a date don't go here. For one they're not LLBO licensed but if you're looking for a quick but yummy Chinese dinner to go this is the place. Just call and pick it up in 10 minutes.

Okay for their chilli chicken, get it dry only. Good location in the middle of a big subdivision should help.

We do have an allergy and requested no celery, there was in fact celery in the dishes we discussed accommodating the allergy with, we also asked for vegetarian Singapore noodles, and there was meat. Albeit a lot of meat for what it's worth, but when you're a vegetarian that ain't really a selling point. Picking it all out was a nightmare. We found the portions and price very generous, we were even given a free serving of meat for the size of the order, everything was fresh but most of the dishes we got were in a crazy amount of sauce where you wouldn't really expect any sauce or a very little like the Thai basil stir fried veggies and tofu, it was drenched in a big puddle of sauce.

For starter, this area during late April was attracting a LOT of mosquitoes for some reason...Even around the store, it was filled with mosquitoes...It was even camping in my car as well...If i had a pet frog, at least, he/she will be a happy camper! :P I have to say prices here is quite reasonable with decent portion sizes as well. Here is what we ordered for take-out... #75 Stir Fried Green Bean ($7.95)- Decent veggie dish mixed with some sauce I wasn't really able to identify well. #9 Sweet & Chilli Wings-12pcs ($9.99)- Wings with sweet chilli sauce mix...Although it did make the wings/drums a bit soggy because of it, but the sauce has a lil heat and was decent taste. I'd say ask for sauce on the side next time so you still get some crunch on the wings. #119 Spicy Ginger Beef ($10.45)- Its lightly breaded piece of 'beef or chicken' with green peppers, onion, and carrots with special ginger sauce they call it...Unfortunately, the dish I got was not beef but chicken instead... You can tell by colour/texture. I ask the staff about this while checking my food before going but for some reason the young staff member wasn't too sure, so I didn't want to bother them and just took it anyways...Taste wise, this had decent flavour and I wouldn't mind getting again in the future... Overall, the price tag here is quite good when comparing elsewhere...The portion is decent and flavour is there...Only downfall from what I heard is the time it takes to prepare can be quite long...Lucky for me, our dishes only took about 20 mins to prepare...So pick a non-busy time to order by phone or in-person... Cash is KING here...Pay cash and get 10% off... *Discount not valid with combos and dinner sets* :)

Jin's Mi-Fen hails from Hunan's Changde City in the northwest part of Hunan Province in China. The restaurant itself has a nice bright interior with plenty of seating. I was seated quickly and given the opportunity to ask the server if you have any questions about ingredients. The server recommended the most popular item on the menu which was the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up, 招牌双拼牛肉粉 , where it's a combination of 2 different kinds of beef, cooked 2 ways. M2. combined together with M3 on the menu. M2. 酱香牛肉粉 JIANGXIANG BEEF LOIN (STRIPLOIN) M3. 津市麻辣牛肉粉 - MALA SPICY BEEF JERKY (EYE ROUND) The server forgot to mention that this dish is recommended with soup on the side. She mentioned that the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up is spicy and said that, even when customers opt for a mild spice level, it does contain spices. She recommended to request no spice if you're unsure of spice preferences. Good advice. I like it hot and spicy, and in the end the cautious approach failed to deliver the requisite heat. I ordered 2 different soups using the table's QR Code sticker. M5. 番茄牛腩粉 - TOMATO BRAISED BEEF BRISKET M1. 招牌双拼牛肉粉 - SIGNATURE DOUBLE BEEF You get to choose the noodles and spice level ahead of time. For being the most popular MUST TRY choice among customers the Signature Spicy Beef Double Up wasn't my most popular choice. The broth was watery, salty and lacked spice. On the bright side, springy soft noodles and pickled vegetables were the MVPs, with the pickled vegetables adding a nice sour and crunchy texture. The Original beef brisket noodle tomato soup was a favourite! The sweet-tangy flavour of the tomato went well with the tender soft and chewy beef brisket. This one's a winner! 老配方牛骨牛肉真實熬湯 . They make their soup in house from an old-fashioned 400-year-old recipe which uses real beef bones, no MSG, and 24 herbs. When you are ready to pay the bill, there are a few steps to walk down to get to the bar area. I had a nice chat with the really friendly people who will cash you out. Glad to see this authentic Hunan style mi-fen noodle restaurant open in Durham!

Been ordering for the last 1.5- 2 years, food is still consistent. I'm originally from the states, and there's certain Americanized Chinese food staples there - crab Rangoon is one of them and served at every Thai and Chinese restaurant. Thai crab Rangoon tastes much different than the Chinese version but they still have it I found this restaurant originally due to them serving crab Rangoon's - essentially cream cheese, very small portion of imitation crab, green onions deep fried in wonton. Not many Chinese places have it here, except Panda Express and 2-3 random locations all over GTA. This is one of the better crab Rangoon's served in GTA. I still find several of their dishes are delicious, besides the Rangoon's. Not sure why the reviews are off, but if you're craving Chinese that's fried and a bit greasy, without going downtown, this is it. And the staff is very receptive to changing and asking for certain things - I.e, less sauce, more sauce, etc. I'd recommend - wonton soup - it's fresh, has the proper amount of veggies, generous dumplings and if you try the 'house wonton' it comes with actual shrimp and chicken with the veggies and wontons. It is salty, but that's standard Americanized wonton soup! Crab Rangoon's - one of the few places around that has. These are absolutely great. They're a little of the sweet side of a typical crab Rangoon, Try them! Dumpling - they do them right here. They're large and filled with meat/veggie filling. I prefer mine steamed but I've had the pan fried. Both are delicious and the homemade sauce they give is so tasty. Sweet and sour chicken - deep fried chicken fingers that you can dip in the standard sweet and sour sauce or with plum sauce. I find most of the time they get these moist. I've had a few one offs from them where they're dry/overcooked, but 95% they deliver moist. General tsos/sesame chicken/orange chicken/orange beef- I think all of these are great, however these are drowned in sauce - I've asked for less sauce in past or sauce on the side and they've done this to a 'T'. Boneless sparerib - good, but a bit saucy. Again they're willing to do what you want so you can ask for less sauce.
