For that first pair, my family dutifully shuttled down to Sterling Optical, then occupying prime real estate in the Boulevard Mall. For my second pair of glasses, we visited Phil Best at Main Optical, and we haven't looked back. In the time Phil Best has occupied his shop just off of Main Street, the street has been widened, bars have come and gone, children have grown up, moved away, and started families of their own. Throughout, he has provided the same level of dependable service, expertly and comprehensively walking customers through the selection of lenses, frames, contacts, accessories, and so forth. He offers support for his frames and lenses throughout their lifetime and also boasts a room ready to perform eye examinations once a week (I believe). Phil carries a fairly wide selection of high end and more affordable frames considering the size of his shop, but fashionistas may require him to order less conventional frames. This location is only open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at present. He operates another location Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

I'm not absolutely certain how I started going there, perhaps convenience, but when I started to need help with reading there is where I went. After so many years the service has never once wavered. If I was dealing with Dave and learning about contact lenses, he was patient and helped me every step of the way until I found the ones that worked best for me. Dan is the consummate professional, and never forgets names, faces or to ask how the rest of the family are doing. Dawn is my personal fashion and design assistant. She knows what works for me and what my style esthetic is. But she also will pull things that are out of the box that I will love but may not have noticed on my own. And what's so important is that she knows what I don't like on my face, anything that's too small. She's honest enough to tell me when I try a frame that I like but it's not the right size for my face, rather than letting me buy something that reflects badly on me and then on the business as well, she will tell me "that's to small of a frame" and I am very grateful regardless of how much I may like the frame. They were fitted well. But as time went I noticed a problem with sharpness. I came back in and they were very happy to check it all out. After a while bottom line they will make new lens with the bifocal lines different, at no charge. They took time to make sure my vision is now sharp. These people are well trained and know what they are doing. They are nice too!!!
