We were out shopping at King of Prussia and really craving ramen - can you believe this is the closest ramen place?? Anyways, I thought the place looked pretty authentic but the broth was basically water with chili. It was a beautiful day outside and we didn't want to wait the 30 min car ride home to eat so we sat outside at the generic outdoor tables. Hakata is located in a really nice strip mall with Trader Joe's, Panera, etc. we ordered the Hakata Black Ramen and Shaki Shiaki. I thought it was interesting they put brussel sprouts in their ramen.. but I appreciated the amount of toppings and the pork was so good!! Pork was 5/5 but the broth was really watered down. The shaki shiaki broth was basically just watered curry powder but tasted better than the hakata black ramen whose spice just attacks that certain part of the back of your throat. Overall, 50% satisfied my craving but had hoped for a more flavorful broth .. the broth is after all 50% of the dish read more

Without a doubt, the best place for ramen and poke bowls in the area. I'm a big fan of the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen and Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl. Also love the Pork Gyozas. read more

We were pretty excited that there was a ramen spot close to work. I went during lunch time at around 1130am, when we got there there were few full tables. But by the time it was 12/1230pm the whole restaurant was packed. There was 1 host and 2 servers in the whole resturant so service was a bit slow. After finally getting my check and giving them my card it took 9 minutes for me to get it back to me. I would not suggest going during peak lunch time if you are in a time crunch. The menu looks pretty decent lots to choose from. I went to the tonkonstu ramen with a spice level at spicy. I thought the broth was decent, could use more flavour. The charsu was good. The thing I didnt like is that they use red pepper flakes in addition to the pepper paste for make the soup spicy. Was not a fan of having giant pepper flakes when I sipped the soup. I may give this place another chance but probably not anytime soon. read more

Was in the area for a doctors appointment, searched yelp for a place for lunch. The pictures of the ramen bowls looked amazing. Very nice atmosphere and the lunch was as advertised; very, very good! The only negative was the large screen tv above the sushi bar tuned to Fox News; having to see and listen to that ruined an otherwise great experience. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but a smart business keeps that to themselves. Having anything political attached to business and you run the risk of alienating half your clientele. read more

Pros: - High quality broth. Great broth base rich in flavor and depth. You can taste the richness of the pork broth although mixed with a tad bit of instant flavoring. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the soup base. Incredible flavor - Chashu mixed very well with the broth as well as the noodles. You can tell that the Chashu are high in quality. - Takoyaki was great too. Large in size and doesn't seem they used frozen Takoyaki balls - Great restaurant vibe. Modern, chill, great music with a sushi bar if you're interested. Cons: - Expensive for the portion. - Mediocre quantity for the price in the ramen. You do not get a lot of ingredients for the price they are asking for. Not a lot of noodles and other ingredients except for Chashu and seasoned egg. Had to order extra noodles just to feel full. - Takoyaki was expensive. Again, $2 for each ball is pretty high. Overall, it's high in quality. I would be very much interested in coming back and introducing this place to others. Mid-tier in comparison to actual ramen in Japan but overall very satisfied. Definitely will be coming back read more

Ramen was okay, not authentic, but okay. Service is okay, not outstanding. Pricing is on the pricey side based on the food & service quality. Location is excellent read more

This place seems relatively new and has a really nice and trendy atmosphere to it. We got the takoyaki as an appetizer and samurai ramen and Hakata tonkatsu black as our entrees. The takoyaki tasted pretty good and we got a decent quantity (6)! However, the ramen was pretty average and the noodles used seemed to taste and have the texture of wonton noodles. Also I have to add that the brisket in the samurai ramen was very tough and was difficult to eat with the ramen. I think this place seems to have a lot of potential and is a relatively good Japanese restaurant for the general King of Prussia area! read more

Got their shiaki shiaki ramen and their sukiyaki beef ramen. The signature ramen had a unique flavor that I could not pin point. The spicyness that they had on top was a woody smokey flavor that was delicious, but felt kind of odd. The soup was flavorful, but not a typical tonkatsu ramen. On the menu, it said it isn't supposed to be spicy, but it was very spicy. So not sure what happened there. The chashu was soooo good. fatty and delicious. Their seasoned egg was overcooked and not delicious. If their egg were better, I would probably upgrade 1 more star. It is a super essential aspect of ramen!!! I liked the sukiyaki better than the shiaki shiaki. The soup was sweet and slightly alcoholic, but worked very well with the thinly cut beef strips inside the ramen. However, I felt eating a big bowl of it with that same flavor may be too much. This was primarily my wife's ramen, so I got to take bites here and there, but it was overall delicious. I was expecting something amazing for this ramen place, but was slightly disappointed. While their chashu is good, I feel like the tonkatsu broth lacked in a robust pork flavor. The seasoned egg was overcooked and not super flavorful. read more

I have been here a few times and tried various ramens here and it's just "okay". The chashu is sometimes dry and the broths don't taste that rich. We only go to this place when we are desperate for ramen but don't want to make the drive to the city. We always leave feeling disappointed. Service varies between good and bad also. The pork buns aren't good -- do not recommend. read more

Came with friends that live around here. Was a quick meal - had both raw and cooked rolls and the sushi was fresh. I really appreciated that the rice was the perfect amount (since some places tend to have too much rice around their rolls and use less meat). The server was nice and attentive. Would come again to try the ramen! read more

We have lived in the area for five years and I am so mad that this is the first time we had Hakata - our friends suggested it for lunch and we will be back again and again! We did take-out and our food was ready when we got there, right on time. My husband and I both had poke bowls...and we selfishly did not share (usually we do) - I had the California bowl and I loved it. A decent amount of tuna and salmon mixed with some greens and seaweed salad. The texture was perfect and the spicy sauce? So good! Our friends both got a ramen bowl and while I did not get to try it, it's their go-to and both my hubby and I agree, it's what we're going with next time! read more

Surprisingly cool spot located in a large shopping center! The decor is industrial and cool, and it's BYO, which is a nice bonus. The bowls of ramen are HUGE! So warm and satisfying on a cold day or night. I challenge anyone to finish a whole bowl. The buns are super tasty. The crispy chicken is addictive - but only if you're ok with dark meat. We never miss the crispy chicken! All that aside, the sushi is some of the best around. Consistently fresh and delicious. I wish they delivered or used a delivery service. You get stuck having to pick up, and sometimes we have gone with another choice for dinner based on this. read more

We arrived at exactly their opening time 11am and they told us they just opened so there would be a 15 minute wait??? It was as though the employees had just arrived and they were scrambling to set up. It took 45 minutes to get our appetizer and our meal arrived at 12. An hour after we walked in and we were the only 2 people there. The food is amazing but if you open at 11 you should be ready to rock and roll at 11. Customers shouldn't have to sit there while you set the tables etc. Veri disappointing. read more

Nice ambience, the service is a little slow, they seem to be understaffed. Unfortunately their seafood Ramen, it's not according to what the menu describes. this is the Ramen that the waiter recommend. Very bland chicken broth, and it had five shrimp and one fish cake, pressed, imitation, pink and white in a spiral! No crab no fish nothing. Shocking, after the manager agreed and complemented the dish, the chef came from the kitchen and confronted me arguing that his food is the best and I need to pay even though I didn't eat it. He was aggressive, and would not listen.he seemed to be surprised that I have experience with Ramen, and I compared his sad ramen to Terakawa in Philly and Ray Ray Ramen in West Chester. read more

My experience here was mostly ok. My expectations were high as I was excited to try a new ramen spot that was closer, in distance to my home. The sushi was great, but my boyfriend and i were a little disappointed with our ramen. I guess you could say we are "ramen snobs." Both of our dishes came out pretty watery with minimal flavor. Honestly, if it wasn't for some chili oil and an egg i would have hated it even more, since i like my broth to be on thicker side with tons of flavors and heat. On top of that, the pork-to-fat ratio was just straight up sad. I am happy to say, the waiter honored my wishes and brought me some new, properly cooked pieces. The service was fine and the prices are decent. read more

Price went up, food quality went down. Not recommended. I always order Tonkatsu and Tokiyaki balls. Both used to be good that rivals Terekawa in Philly. However, I've noticed a decreased or change in flavor. There is a lack of depth of pork flavor in the broth that you can only get by boiling pig parts for several hours. The pork charsu that used to be very tender(from hours of boiling) is now simply fried. read more

It looks like ramen, and smells like ramen, but it ain't ramen. Have you ever seen old lithographs and paintings done of animals by artists who had never actually seen them? That's what the ramen at this restaurant is like. Served lukewarm, the noodles were the right consistency, but flavorless, as was the soup. It LOOKED like tonkotsu broth, but tasted like dishwater. Also, there's always something unsavory about "Japanese" restaurants who hire all-Asian staff (regardless of actual ethnicity) in order to "seem" authentic. This place is all window dressing - the food is dreck. Don't waste your money when there are a number of quality, authentic ramen restaurants in the city. read more

Ordered takeout - and it doesn't seem super conducive for takeout in the restaurant itself (the food was packaged up beautifully and thoughtfully so as to prevent spilling etc). Their was quite a wait on top of the time I was told to wait (additional 15 or so minutes) but the food was worth it. Ordered the spicy umami miso ramen (my boyfriend was jealous - it was delicious! He ordered the pork buns - and potstickers - they were great. I ordered the mini Pork and kimchhee taco (not my thing apparently - but I rrealize this is me and not the way it was prepped. Mango mochi and tiramisu were both surprisingly good! (Wasn't expecting standout tiramisu from an Asian cuisine restaurant) I would like to dine-in next time and try their other options - it's very cool vibe - street art a style murals and good design elements. read more

Most disappointing ramen experience I've had. Service was lacking and food was not very good. Went on a Friday around 7pm. Got seated after a little bit of a wait. It's Friday, no bigger. Ordered food around 7:15. Didn't get our entrees till about 8pm. It took 45 minutes for our ramen to come out. I've had ramen in various places before and this was the longest I've ever waited for ramen. Waited so long for the ramen for it to be disappointing. Got a spicy shaki shiaki ramen. The spice was there but there not much flavor to the broth. Ended up adding soy sauce but it didn't help much. Their char siu is not tender at all, just chewy. The seasoned egg I got was completely hard boiled. Not worth the wait or the price. Service was a miss too. Only saw our waitress when we ordered and later when we ask for the check. We didn't see her for the entire service beside those two instances. Incredibly frustrating when you're trying to get a water refill for 15 minutes. Got it at the end when we asked for our check. Highly unlikely I will come back. read more

We go here for everything! All of the soups are great. The spice levels are ideal in the spicy soups. The noodles are really tasty and the eggs are wonderful/perfectly cooked. The tea is so tasty! It's free refills, it costs $0.75, totally worth it! The rice bowls are unimaginative, not wonderful like the soup. I got the pork rice bowl and it was a nice serving, but I wish I'd got the eel rice bowl. We got the California roll for the first time and it was 7.5/10. The wasabi was strong, but we would have liked to get more. I like sugar so I was satisfied by the ginger, it was very sweet. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and very fast! We were very happy to have him! They have a coupon we find in the clipper magazine every so often for 10% off. Jakarta Ramen takes credit cards and is good for children and groups, but it can get loud. There's one tv and it's byob. There is a $3corking fee for wine, so maybe bring a twist off? Haha read more

Was in the king of Prussia area and after going to a dreadful and totally draining prize giveaway at "Sundance Vacations" which is another review... we were happy to stumble upon Hakata Ramen. The place was pretty busy and as the night went on it got busier and I could see why the food was the bomb! The waiter which was some nice young kid took our appetizer orders and food came out a little slow but the food was delicious. We ended getting quite a bit. Started with the Hakata roll which was unlike any type of sushi roll I have ever tried, it was soooo good and had kind of a smoky taste to it. We also got the takoyaki, chicken karrage, spicy ramen, cheesecake, California roll, black ramen, chicken ramen for my daughter and pretty much everything was good! Definitely anytime we come to KOP I will definitely come here for lunch or dinner. All the food was awesome and I highly recommend the Hakata sushi roll! I would have taken a picture of the roll but we ate it too fast! It was that good. read more

Today I had lunch there and the bill came which was more $ than I expected. I then realized that the prices for the items were more on the receipt than the menu prices. When I brought this to my servers attention, she just simply said those were old menus. I told her I am paying the price on the menu and they shouldn't use the old menu if the prices are not accurate. I bet a lot of people are not realizing this difference and it's highly unethical. Great noodle spot near the King of Prussia area. Authentic Japanese Ramen and other dishes. No sushi currently but I was told was soon to come. So far I've had the Samurai Rice bowl with teriyaki beef. Comes with rice and diced avocado and cucumbers. Price is about $12 not including price for a drink. I've been to this spot about 3 times so far and has not dissapointed. The staff is friendly and attentive. I have not had any trouble finding a seat during lunch time hours. Hakata Ramen - Hakata Ramen Black - Sushi Bars Near Me - Wayne, Pennsylvania

Hakata Ramen... the words evoke memories of days in Japan. Days in little Tokyo in Los Angeles. And days of hunting down a good bowl of Ramen soup in Philadelphia when the weather got cold. Mind you, I can have soup on a hot day as well. Establishment-The place is small and I think they underestimated the popularity of ramen. (Especially during the cold weather) the place is full of Asians looking for a good bowl of soup. Since the area is full of Asian workers, they live here too, yup, it was full. But we gladly took seats at the bar instead of having to wait for a table. Service-Again, you can tell the establishment underestimated the need for a good bowl of soup. Servers are running around trying to get the orders . Ours did get to us promptly but I heard someone at a table nearby that no one had been around to take their order. Food-I ordered the Black Tonkostu. With no mushrooms. They brought a bowl with Karage (mushrooms) but they quickly took it away and brought another bowl with no mushrooms . I asked for the Hot Spicy soup, but it wasn't spicy. Mind you for the locals that are not used to eat spicy food, I think this would be a mild medium for them. I noticed that the menu said the noodles were thin... these noodles were not thin. The broth was okay... it wasn't actually tonkostu, usually tonkostu is a bit more white and fatty from the hours it takes to make the pork bone broth. This seemed more like Shoyu ramen flavor. The pork slices was cold, and I mean cold. Like they bought it in bulk from Costco and thawed it out hoping the hot soup would make it hot. The boiled egg was whole and cold on the inside. Ramen has half an egg. We also asked for fresh garlic.... but they gave it to us whole. Dude! At least give us a knife to slice it. We also asked for a side of rice... and it wasn't fully cooked. Sorry for the long review... but I like my soups and Hakata style ramen is one of my favorites. This, despite the name, was not Hakata style. Granted, the place is new, just opened up this week. They are still working out the kinks. I'll give it another try in one month. (Maybe they'll actually buy Japanese hot powder for the soup) read more
