This place is my favorite spot in Ithaca. The food is always delicious and made very well. I've had the Pad Thai, Shrimp Fried Rice, Shrimp and Scallop Black pasta and the seafood pasta with shrimp, clams and scallops. All of my dishes have been great. It's a bit weird to say the best pasta I've had in Ithaca has been from this shop but I suppose that's Ithaca. Definitely give this place a try this place if you're in town and looking for some great food. read more

Visiting Ithaca and wanted to eat at the BoatYard Grill but the long lines and every one packed for inside dining (it was a hot 90 degree day), we just left. Decided to try Hakacha as it was close by and intrigued by the menu. The food was delicious. Appetizers included fried fish cake and toasted bread with dried shredded pork. Both were yummy! Entrees ordered were the salmon squid ink pasta, spicy seafood squid ink pasta and the green curry fried breaded chicken. All were delicious. Warning - the spicy seafood pasta is spicy so be prepared! It was noted on the menu. Portions were a good size. We didn't have room for dessert. The menu may be limited but we think the quality of the dishes were top notch. Located in a small strip mall that seems empty but this is a place that deserves some recognition. So glad we stopped by for dinner. read more

I hate to give small family run restaurant a bad review but I cannot believe this place is so highly rated UNLESS their sit down dining has a different chef who knows how to cook. Here are the positives - food looked great, packaged well (hello covid times) and quality ingredients are used. Negatives - taste is blah and I'm not sure what their "fusion" is but they need an infusion of flavor. Here is how bad it was - I was ready to go get Burger King half way thru. So yes, most of the food got thrown away and that's the end of that. Their prices are medium-high and I believe that they use quality products. Hakacha is one of the best restaurants in Ithaca hands down! I tried it for the first time this semester and absolutely fell in love. The ambience of the restaurant was the perfect blend between being a bit more special than a "typical sit-down dinner" and also not being overly formal or pretentious. The staff/servers were extremely friendly, checking in on us and making us feel very comfortable when ordering. The food at the restaurant came in really large portions, so it was definitely worth the price! I literally cannot rave enough about the food; we started off with the Fried Chicken Mango Salad. I thought the chicken was perfectly fried; it was very crispy, juicy, and didn't feel overwhelmingly heavy. The salad also had a asian-style sesame dressing that paired really well with the refreshing mango slices and crispy chicken. Definitely a must-get because of how massive the dish is and becuase of how perfect the chicken is. Our next dish was the bacon ramen... once again was blown away. The bacon was nice and crispy, it didn't feel too fatty/greasy, and paired surprisingly well in a Asian ramen dish. I often thought of ramen as being a very heavy dish, but the broth here was very light and was served with plenty of delicious toppings that made each bite fun to experiment with different combinations. Our final dish was the Salmon Squid Ink Pasta. This is the one dish you absolutely MUST try when you are here. The salmon on top was cooked to perfection, with the outside crust being crispy and flaky, but the inside of the fish being juicy (and not having the briny taste that a lot of seafood dishes often have). I was also very pleasantly surprised by the creamy sauce becuase usualyl I find cream-based sauces too be really heavy and something that I can't consume much of before feeling sick, this cream sauce not only tasted amazing and garlicy, it also didn't weigh me down! The perfect bite consisted of some twirled squid ink pasta, smothered in the sauce, with some juicy salmon to top it all off. I highly recommend this dish if you visit Hakacha.Despite only going once, this restaurant has quickly taken over the charts and become one of my favorites here in Ithaca, please come here with friends and family to experience some amazing Asian fusion food! read more

FINALLY, a true ramen spot in Ithaca!!!! I just tried a bowl of vegetarian ramen at this place upon the recommendation of a friend ... it was VERY good! My expectation was low, so I was really surprised! Vegetarian ramen is tricky to make tasty ... APPLAUSE!!!!! The ramen was much better than Maru Ramen on State Street nor Boru on Commons. I wrote reviews for both places. The price was better too! To be sure, this is not a specialized ramen shop. I actually offer only two options for ramen - one for meat-eaters, the other one for vegetarians. I tried the vegetarian one. It was SO good! It had buttery sauteed shiitake mushrooms, seitan, and arugulas on top. Really yum! Kudos to the chef! This place can be maybe described as a noodle shop with Asian twist. The menu offered regular pasta, pad thai, ramen, etc. The restaurant has a nice ambience ... probably nice for a date, if you've got one. However, if you just want to go over there with a sandal and shorts like I did, I think you will be fine, too, as it's in a very unromantic corner of town right next to DMV. My first time eating at Hakacha was with my boyfriend at the time in Aug 2020. A year later, we decided to have our pre-wedding dinner here because the food was so memorable to us and we wanted 30 of our guests to have the same amazing experience. I tried the fried chicken mango salad and the salmon curry pasta, both were so delicious. Chef owner Pan was extremely hospitable and accommodating! Very Tasty!! We only stayed 2 nights but it was so good our first night we decided to eat here again for the 2nd night and try some other dishes. It's located in a simple quiet area and the interior itself is very simple but what overshadows all that is when you get to tasting the food and all that is forgotten. All of the dishes were great so if you had any of them you wouldn't be disappointed. We tried the squid pasta dishes, the vegetable broth, the fried chicken mango salad and the bacon pasta. Only suggestion for the vegetable broth is to eat it as soon as you get it because of all the dishes this gets cold the fastest. Would definitely eat here again if in the area. read more

My friend and I spent one night on our way home from Niagara Falls. Luckily this one of the restaurants open on a Monday night. It was great. I had the vegetarian ramen bowl which is just what I needed after a long driver. Service was great. The server was so honest when she came over to our table to apologized for forgetting to put in our order. We tried the chicken mango salad which was inventive and perfect, the shrimp pad Thai which won us over with the little tofu bites, the chicken curry pasta which was so creamy and flavorful I don't even know how to categorize it, the crispy Brussel sprouts which I couldn't put down once I started, and the bacon ramen which was a hit with the kiddo. I went here with my hubby on a Friday about 5. The place was empty of customers but two other patrons soon came in and take out was steadily going out the door. We ordered the shrimp wraps and they were perfectly fried in wonton wrappers with a sweet/spicy sauce. I got the blood-orange peach mango lemonade and I could taste every flavor - it was refreshing. The hubby got the seafood squid ink pasta with chili. He has a high tolerance for heat and said it was good, but didn't destroy him (but that means it was pretty spicy for anyone with a low tolerance hehe). I got the salmon curry pasta and it had a little spice. The curry broth was fully developed and delicious. There was a fillet of salmon on top and it needed a little salt, but not when incorporated into the broth. I would definitely recommend and enjoyed this place. I would rate it $$ because most entrees are above $12, but totally worth it. read more

Our takeout orders for 9 were well prepared and waiting for us when we arrived to pick them up. I really enjoyed the bacon mushroom pasta. DH liked his spicy bacon pasta. They were very different dishes even with mostly the same ingredients. The squid ink pasta was spicy and very good per DIL. Grandson enjoyed some parts of his mother's veg ramen. The spice levels were not overpowering but added to the enjoyment of the dish. The goyza did not travel well. We had an allergy in the group and the chef accommodated it. read more

Wonderful spot tucked away in an unassuming plaza next to the DMV and a vet hospital. Going in I was skeptical of Japanese-Italian fusion, but it was so good.
