    Fried Chicken Mango Salad

This is probably one of the best restaurants in the area. We've been here three years in a row while dropping off our kid at school, and it never disappoints. Over our visits, we've tried a variety of dishes--including the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Fried Chicken Mango Salad, Pad Thai, Salmon Squid Ink Pasta, Seafood Pasta, Salmon Green Curry Pasta, and Mushroom Soy Sauce Pasta--and everything has been consistently delicious. The service is always friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the atmosphere is relaxed and great for conversation. We'll definitely be back again next year!

In my book, this is one of the tastiest, cutest and best valued restaraunts in Ithaca. $20ish bucks after tax and tip for very generous portions of interesting winners like seafood pasta loaded with garlic and real flavor, salmon squid ink or green curry pasta, etc. It's all tasty, the price is incredible for what they're serving, and the aesthetic is moody and charming. Black and white tile flooring, warm low lighting, tree branches (or something like that on the walls).

Don't let the location in ithaca fool you! This is a gem in the wall! Tucked in a slightly odd spot, but boy am i glad i tried this! Not only is the ambiance very chic, quaint, and lovely but the food was great! They have a perfect sized menu. Not large but plenty of choices. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Everything came out to us in a timely manner and the serve checked on us every so often giving privacy but assistance as needed. The wine selection is pretty good but limited what you can have just a class of opposed to having to buy a whole bottle. Luckily, we wanted the bottle. They've got wonderfully delicious and unique non-alcoholic drinks. I ordered the rose soda and it was delicious! I would absolutely dine in here again. If you decide to go here expect to pay a little more than your normal asian dining. They do take out which i would also do as well! This is a must try!

I've been here several times now and there has never been a wait. It's definitely because of the location, which is frankly horrible. The plaza that they're located in frequently has some very sus individuals who just might mug you. However, the food is actually quite good, especially by Ithaca Asian standards. It's not the most authentic food - there's bacon ramen on the menu (lol) - but it tastes good! I'm a sucker for all of their seafood ramen options, which are all delicious and reasonably priced. Service is also always quick and the restaurant is clean.

Best food I had on my two week stay in Ithaca! So delicious and flavorful! Absolutely a hidden gem!!! i couldn't ask for a better meal ! Great service as well

the most unsuspecting restaurant I have ever been to! It really looks like nothing when you walk in as it's located in a strip mall with a DMV next door and a gas station in the parking lot. DONT LET THIS FOOL YOU! The interior is smaller and has a few seats for couples or a larger party. It's interestingly decorated with branches on the side and a few flowers. The food and cost of food is the real winner here. I was really expecting nothing coming into this, but the food was absolutely delicious. I would easily pay 5x the amount in NYC for the same dish. Starters: We ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts and the fried chicken mango salad to start. Both delicious, the brussel sprouts came with fried shallots and lemon and made a great pairing. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection and paired nicely with the mango shreds and salad. Main meal: we ordered the squid ink pastas, pad Thai, and the spicy bacon pastas. SO. GOOD. the seafood squid ink pasta was a bit spicer than expected and I asked them to lower the spice a bit. The pastas were all so amazing, noodles were chewy and had great flavor. Also priced very reasonably, for $15-$20 a dish! The salmon in the pasta was a large piece and could easily share a dish with someone else. Overall definitely coming back whenever I'm back in the Ithaca area!!

My friend was raving about the Fried Chicken Mango Salad and I believed her once I took the first bite - the chicken is fried to perfection and the creamy yet fresh dressing complements the salad and chicken so well! We also enjoyed the Spicy Seafood Squid Ink Pasta, which offered a slight smoky flavor that was balanced well with the flavorful (and big) shrimp served alongside. The interior is more intimate and ideal for small gatherings or dinner dates. Now adding here as a must-visit spot the next time I go to Ithaca!

The food was unique and delicious, with large portions. Service friendly, and atmosphere cute. Highly recommend.

Wonderful restaurant! The food was delicious. We especially loved the Gyoza - great flavors! The service was perfect - they were very attentive. Overall, a great experience.

    Fried rice

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Ithaca in my opinion. The squid ink pasta is a must, and the fried rice was also really great. Location is a bit sus though. Service was average - we were quickly seated with no issues, but the food did take a bit longer to come out than I was hoping for (I was also very hungry).

My recent…read morebrunch experience included ordering a Where the West Begins omelette, which includes "Braised short rib, butternut squash, red onion jam, spinach, smoked gouda". I wasn't sure how to feel about butternut squash with everything else (I'm not necessarily a huge squash fan - but I'm trying to learn to enjoy it), but the omelette was decent... it's the other side on my plate that looked less than appetizing. The biscuit was still covered in flour (and who wants to bite down on a clump of flour?), the cheddar hashbrown casserole lacked in flavor, and the brown sugar cinnamon oatmeal just... wasn't doin' it for me. Other recent experiences have been similar... there's usually one item on the plate that's flavorful or imventive (sometimes a main dish, sometimes a side), and the other parts of the plate are lacking. In reality, I think MIX is suffering a bit from rising food costs and inconsistency in their service and offerings. They've also changed the style of their menu from the original tapas-style to now being more typical entree options. Again... they've lost some of their innovative, experimental approach. In terms of ambiance, it really depends. I've been here for a work event and, because of the number of people, it was SO LOUD... they had also done a buffet offering for the event. As you can imagine, the food from the buffet was lacking, but that's often what happens when you're more mass producing your food (and it's left in a chafing dish, trying to be kept warm). On the other hand, I've been here for a dinner on a random night and was able to enjoy one of their Thai noodle bowls (and split some other apps with friends). The reality is that experiences at MIX are... well... a mix. Whether service, menu offerings, etc., I've found MIX's recent inconsistencies to be a disappointment. Will probably only visit in the future if it's suggested by others.

Unique mac and cheese and good gnocchi!…read more I am debating giving the rook 3 or 4 stars... I was not a fan of the salmon mousse... far too salty and I wish it was paired with crisped bread or at least something other than Ritz crackers. I did, however, enjoy the presentation and taste of the macaroni au gratin. The square shape is very unique and I liked the cheese sauce. The lamb w gnocchi was also quite good. Pillowy and soft. The lamb was cooked well. Overall, I would maybe return. I enjoyed the macaroni au gratin as well as the lamb w gnocchi!

Staff was pleasant and quick. The menu is dominated by drink options (cocktails and wines), and happy hour is 4-5pm, which is perfect for an aperitif. The fried chicken is by far their speciality, with the macaroni coming in as a distant second. But while both were delicious, I'd say the best value and taste goes surprisingly to the simple summer salad, which was crisp, sweet, tangy, and refreshing. It's only $10 for a hefty portion of food and I'd order that again anytime (and that's coming from a guy who'd never normally order a salad). My only criticisms are that the Rook doesn't have many entree choices (which may be a good thing for indecisive diners), and that it's very slightly pricey. Otherwise, it's an easy recommend for me.

Came with butter and that butter slaps. Nothing revolutionary, but solid. 4/5. * Beef Tartare ($14) Raw beef, but make it fancy. Slightly salty for my taste, but paired beautifully with the bread. Never had beef tartare before, so I have no reference point. This could be the best tartare in existence, or I just have peasant palate. Either way, I'll give it a 4/5. * Kohlrabi & Pear ($8) First time having kohlrabi, and I was not expecting it to be so crisp and apple-adjacent. The pear added some nice sweetness, and the goat cheese + garlic combo made it feel elevated. I respect it, but I wouldn't crave it. 3/5, purely based on my personal taste. * Steak Frites ($36) This is the dish. The aioli sauce for the fries? So good we asked for extra and then extra to-go like some sauce-hoarding gremlins. Steak was cooked medium-rare perfection -- just go with what the restaurant recommends. No notes. 5/5. * Mocha Walnut Torte ($8) Not a huge walnut or sweets person, but this was light and not overly rich. My friend could pinpoint the walnut in it... which is great for them. I mostly tasted "fancy cake." 3/5 for effort and subtlety. * Crème Caramel ($8) I am a fiend for crème brûlée. "Flavorful...and what a crust!"…read more We recently enjoyed the Arrabiata (bottom), Margherita (top L) and Fresca (top R). Each is a generous size for one. All were great in their own way. The Fresca was our favorite, with fresh pesto vibing great with the arugula. The Marg was sweeter and vibrant. The Arrab may not be to everyone's taste: it's spicy and bitter (Italian parsley and capers), but again, fresh ingredients make it delicious. Others have commented on the crust. This is a more Sicilian, focaccia-like crust than it is a NY crust, which would be flat and crispy. You can tell Adelina's really pays attention to this foundational element because 1) it's airy, crispy and soft, while maintaining a slightly chewy texture; and 2) they have a manifesto about it on the menu.
