Dark wood, warm lighting, that cozy tucked-away pub feel that makes you forget you are in the middle of Florida. It feels transported. It is one of those places in Sebring that you just have to see because it is so unexpectedly cool inside. Service was great. I was there for a quick in and out, so I sat at the bar and kept it simple with a chicken Caesar salad. Nothing fancy. For the price, it was very fair, and the flavor held up. No complaints. It did exactly what it needed to do, which was give me a solid meal in a comfortable setting without overcomplicating things. Now let's talk about Sebring itself. Sebring is one of those towns in the middle of nowhere Florida where you find yourself thinking, "I wonder what it would be like to live here?" while also scratching your head a little. It reminds me of The Villages before The Villages became The Villages. There is a concept there. It is adorable. It is charming. And most of the time, it is very, very quiet. Personally, I would go stir crazy living there full time. But I can absolutely see the appeal. And to be fair, Sebring is not always sleepy. It comes alive during major events like the legendary 12 Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway, which draws racing fans from all over the world. There is also the Sebring Soda Festival, the Highlands County Fair, and various car shows and seasonal events that suddenly flood the town with energy. During those times, I imagine the entire vibe shifts. If I were to come back, it would be for one of those big events or for some serious antique shopping, because that is where this area quietly shines. Gavaghans fits perfectly into that Sebring personality. Cozy. A little unexpected. Solid. Worth stepping into. Even if you are not an Irish pub person, it is one of those spots that makes you think, okay... I get it.

We sat ourselves at a table nearest a window. The place is dimly lit. We placed our order at the bar. We did not wait long for our meal. We each had the Cesar Salad with Bacon bits and a glass of red wine. The salad was a generous portion, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of housemade dressing. We each ate half of the salad and took the remaining home. The place was quiet with only one other table seated. We were able to converse with each other in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere. It was a most pleasant evening. I recommend Gavaghans and plan to return on a weekend when the place might have a more livelier vibe.

There is a bar that seats about a dozen. Pro Tip- If you park as directed by the signs you will be confronted by a formidable set of stairs. If that is a challenge for anyone in your party, swing around to the left of the clubhouse and you'll spot a small parking lot which much easier access. Adult Libations- Full bar. I spotted about ten taps with several popular craft brews and there are a few wines. Customer Service- My excellent bartender/server claimed to have worked there for 14 years. If that's true, they hired her at about age 6 or 7! When I told her that she said she loved me! Food- One-page American pub style menu. You've seen it all before. Fried food, sandwiches, burgers and salads. The lunch special was a pulled pork sandwich topped with slaw with fries & baked beans as sides for about $8 so I went with it. As you can see from my picture it was nicely plated. The bun was buttered and toasted very nicely. The fries were crispy and hot, and the baked beans had bits of pork and onion and were very tasty. Now for the sandwich. As soon as I picked it up, I knew I was in trouble. There was a massive amount of tasty pulled pork and I thought there was no way the bun could handle it. I was right and after eating about 1/3 I finished the remainder with a fork. Note to Chef- If you switch to a toasted Kaiser roll that can handle the load, you've got yourself a 5-star sandwich! Despite the misstep with the incredibly messy sandwich, all the food was very good, and I had a nice time. This Golf Resort is off the beaten path but if you are out that way it's a solid choice for a casual lunch or dinner.

Both always have smiles on their faces, are very welcoming and attentive to our needs despite having multiple tables to juggle. Every dish is hot, plentiful and delicious. We always have a very enjoyable and relaxing time. We have brought many out of town friends to Pedro's when they visit. The restaurant and bathrooms are kept clean. There are two big screen TV's in the dining area and two at the bar area. Outdoor seating is provided as well. Plenty of free parking in lot. I highly recommend Pedro's Bar and Grill and definitely will return.

The previous owners were famous state-wide for their Slaw Burgers! Folks drove 100 miles to buy them! They literally sold them for decades. The new owners insured it lives on! Arriving- Teeny tiny Frostproof is a straight shot, about 5 miles, off US Route 27. You end up on Main Street where these guys are located. Free street parking and more free parking around the side. Ambience- A beautiful remodel with lots of wood. A long straight bar with comfortable stools with backs. A just the right height, tiled foot railing makes for a comfortable bar experience. Behind the bar is mounted a long line of huge TVs for your viewing pleasure. It's an awesome place to watch a game! See my picture. Of course there are also tables, booths, and even pool tables. TouchTunes & Wi-Fi- I recommend the App for using the juke box. In this part of Florida, you can expect a lot of classic rock and country. We were met with tables, arranged to seat 12 of us, covered in white tablecloths, with small candle lamps on the table. My mother remarked on the beautiful place settings. Our server, Lauren, immediately took our beverage orders, and promptly returned with our requests. Once everyone arrived, we received plates of sliced bread with seasoned dipping oil. Our brunch orders were filled quickly, and our family from large cities were very impressed with the presentation and variety of the menu offerings. We could not have asked for a nicer afternoon. They stopped serving brunch at 2 PM, but did not rush us out of the restaurant, and helped present Mom's birthday cake. We hope to celebrate her 100th birthday there next year!
